Toure and Mike did an excellent job. The area was cleared and the old material taken away very promptly. They then brought in new soil and prepared a new raised planting bed, and planted our new arborvitae and lilacs. They did the job expertly and were very professional. I would highly recommend this company and certainly would hire them again.

it went as well as it could, the combined scope of work was quite large, additional help with carpentry was required, good attention to detail with the wall placement, drains are draining, random boulders buried next to house turned into nice little terrace wall

Build quality of stone retaining wall and stairs bigger and better than anticipated. Reclaimed almost the entire backyard with judiciously placed fill. Quality of loam depth and hydro-seeding would have been worth twice the line item cost to us.
Description of Work: Back yard needed to be graded and leveled, with addition of retaining wall and stair to meet code for rail-less deck. Grass is coming in but too much rain to capture an image. After having a rocky slope for years, we wanted it done right the first time.

Our initial contact was via Toure's email and website. His website had excellent descriptions of various drainage problems, solutions and very clear statements of his work policies. It was very professional. Torre suggested that we send him photos of our land, and inside problem areas before he came to the house for a consult or estimate. Each time we contacted him he responded promptly. He offered to speak with us by phone to determine if his services were appropriate for us. When we determined that his services were likely not appropriate for our situation he spent an hour with us on the phone, consulting and reviewing all our options. He explained all possible solutions and helped us to review which would be most cost effective. Even though he offered to do this gratis, we were so impressed that we offered to pay him his consulting fee. He was very knowledgeable, professional and kind. If it ever turned out that his services were appropriate for us we would happily hire him.
Description of Work: We had been having ongoing moisture/damp basement issues and had gotten a number of (contradictory) opinions about how to resolve it. We needed someone who could give us an overview of what should be done and review various solutions. We called Toure because he had grading and drain installation experience.

Toure was a pleasure to work with and did a terrific job. He regraded the ground on three sides of our house, installed a drainage system for the roof, and prepared the site for a stone wall, patio, masonry steps, irrigation system, lawn and beds, including the relocation of some large shrubs. He started and finished on time, and on budget, and was very helpful in helping us to design the space. I would recommend him highly.

All 3 of these projects went perfectly. Touré is definitely among the best people I have worked with. He is a straight shooter, he says what he will do and does what he says. Touré is responsive, honest and I was kept informed every step of the way. I have already contracted for more work to be done. Most highly recommended.

My Nightmare. Upon hiring Tour'e the price was great, much cheaper than my GC. He locked the job in and started two weeks late and failed his inspection with the town bc the footing was not 48 inches. I reached out to him and found out he was out of the country on vacation, would have been nice to know b4 hiring. Came home and failed another inspection. Instead of working to fix it, he went to another job and was unresponsive until three days later. Finally b4 being replaced he got his act together and finished job. The cement truck took down a wire and he never fixed it or offered. He left trash all over my yard and final bill was 2500.00 more than agreed on. what a nightmare, he pushed entire job back and would Never take any responsibility for the failed inspections. RUN RUN RUN..

Response from New England Enterprises
Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], I'm sorry to hear that you feel I was a total failure with regards to your job. Honestly I totally disagree with your bias point of view, I feel your review is inaccurate and unfair. I understand we had some challenges on your job, I also understand I made a mistake on the job, it does happen I am human and not immune to mistakes. However I feel it's not if we make a mistake , but when we make a mistake, what we do about it. I went the extra mile to overcome my mistake, and the other challenges that came up on your job, including your mistakes and the misinformation that you provided me. See in order to understand the whole story we have to rewind the tape. First of all Mr. [Member Name Removed] hired me to excavate and instal a foundation for a-proposed addition on his house. He had hired a general contractor to do the entire project, but didn't like the price he was given, so he decided to pick the bid apart and go shopping for for lower prices from subcontractors, in which I was one. My price was $4000 Less then his GC price for the site work and concrete work. Mr. [Member Name Removed] told his GC he wanted to hire me instead of using the GC contractors. The GC regrettably agreed to allow this( but he didn't have to) you see the GC is ultimately responsible for the entire project, including all work done by others. But the GC told Mr. [Member Name Removed] on several occasions and myself that since he was essentially being bypassed that Mr. [Member Name Removed] would be responsible for managing this portion of the job. Mr. [Member Name Removed] was now the acting GC for this portion of the job. The problem was Mr. [Member Name Removed] has little to no construction experience, and this job was over his head. You see the GC has to communicate with everyone involved in the job including the building dept, the architect or engineer, and all of the subcontractors. The GC is the top guy when subs have questions the GC answers them with accurate information. Since Mr. [Member Name Removed] had gone around his GC he was now responsible for for filling His shoes. Mr. [Member Name Removed] on several occasions provided me with the wrong information The first time was regarding the overall height of the new foundation, he told me we were matching the existing, but later on in the project we find out that was incorrect. The new foundation was to be 8" lower then his existing foundation. This was the reason for one of the inspection failures. I worked with the framing crew and the foundation contractor to come up with a solution for this and then get Bitched at because it will cost an additional $500.00. I had even told Mr. [Member Name Removed] that we would still be able to keep the job in budget because I had some buffers in the bid, so if one line item was under, but something else went over it would be a wash. The second mistake Mr. [Member Name Removed] made has to do with a change order. You see his existing house foundation was not up to code, it had no footing, was made from CMU blocks and did not meet the frost protection code. Because of this a change in the drawings were made by the engineer, and was submitted to the building dept. Mr. [Member Name Removed] instructed me to move forward with the change order which was an under pin footing detail, I specifically asked him to double check with the building dept to make sure this was all that would be necessary. He told me to proceed as the plan depicted. We did and the next inspection failed, because the building inspector wanted a second underpined footing this 2nd footing was not on the plan. This is the GC job to find out and convey accurate information and oversee the work on the project. We ultimately worked though this challenge as well, I did the 2nd underpinnings, I then met with the building inspector, and we passed all the requirements and completed the job within two days of this happening. Budget: the original quote was for $16,350.00 My total price came in at $16,750.00 And that included a $1500 extra that was not in the original scope or work. That was a change order. Our total was actually less then the original quote Wire: yes the concrete truck did knock your wire down. Listen to that " the concrete truck took the wire down" not me! If you wanted the wire replaced then you should go after the concrete company! By the way the wire was for an old telephone service that wasn't even being used. Trash left yard: all the trash left on your property came from your property, old fence post, landscape fabric that was in the beds in the way of excavation, wood siding that needed to be removed from your house so we could install your new foundation. Where is the dumpster for the job site Mr GC? Us contractors should create "amy's List" this would be used for contactors to rate and review consumers, so we can avoid work for nightmare customers like Mr [Member Name Removed]. Watch out Mr. GC Mr [Member Name Removed] was already talking about bashing you when you finish.

Our experience with New England Enterprise was very positive; they are punctual, professional, and respectful of our property. If you are looking for quality work, punctuality, professionalism, respect, and a reasonable price, then I highly recommend using New England Enterprise.
Description of Work: My backyard had about 50 one hundred foot pines (that were anywhere from 50-90 years old) spread out over a half acre of land - it looked like a forest. We had another company cut down and remove all of the pine trees; however, our backyard still had these ugly, bulky, stumps everywhere. We hired New England Enterprise to remove about 40 of the 50 stumps. The driver of the excavator worked all day without stopping and finished within the time allotted. In addition, the Excavator was surprisingly quiet and Eco friendly, which was a nice touch since I work from home. I also liked how they brought their own 20 yard dumpsters/containers. The stumps were loaded into the containers and taken at the end of the day. We never had a dumpster sitting in our driveway and didn't have to worry about hiring an outside service - another plus!

New England Enterprises work is meticulous - they make sure that all work is done right the first time and adhere to the latest codes. Our front entry to our house, even after 3 years, looks like it has just been done. The retaining wall was built with all the proper drainage so that the wall remains sturdy. In addition, they have an eye for design so that the final layout does not look the same as another. Our walkway curves along the landscape area, giving it an interesting look. Their workmanship is the best. This is the second project we had them do - the first being a stone wall along our deck that created a garden area along the entire length.
Description of Work: Replaced our front landing, walkway and wall. Created a plan, demoed the old walkway and landing, designed and constructed a new front stair and landing in bluestone that eliminated the need for railings, constructed a new retaining wall along the driveway with bluestone stairs up to the walkway and laid out a new walkway from Brussels Dimensional Stone by Unilock, graded the landscape and moved the plantings for better design and layout.

The work went incredibly smooth. Touré Foster is the owner of New England Enterprises and takes great pride in his work and service to the customer. From the estimate through completion of the work Touré is available to ask questions and provide feedback on the project. There was a section of concrete pool deck we were on the fence about keeping and Touré offered his input and the reason for his solution and it made sense and looks great. He quoted a 4 day job from start to finish, which was spot on. There was some question about finishing on Friday and was all set for the work to be done on Saturday, it wasn't needed but it goes to his dedication to doing what he can to finish the job. When the work was done, he took some time to explain the care for the newly seeded area and even checked in before he went on vacation. This check in was nearly 3 weeks after the work was completed. Another trait that really stuck out was Touré's interaction with the kids. When he would arrive each morning, my kids would rush to the window, Touré would interact with them and answer the multitude of questions they would ask. While this last point doesn't really address the work done, it goes a long way in my book and is a reflection of his character. I would go with New England Enterprises and Touré Foster without question.
Description of Work: Removing and filling an in ground pool, removing fence, and seed the area repaired.

Toure and Michael did a great job. He was responsive and was pretty accommodating to the schedule. He was empathetic to our situation, including a special needs child that increased our sense of urgency and the need to get the project completed as soon as possible. He worked closely with the electrician to get the job done as soon as possible. I'm no expert in excavating/trenching, but the work they did was clean (i.e., removed rocks that might harm the conduit and roots that could make the installation of the conduit difficult) and professional. I recommend New England Enterprises.
Description of Work: My home had a power failure. The buried power line from the street to the house failed. Per Eversource, because the power line is buried I am responsible for replacing it. Just my luck! Luckily I have a generator so I was still able to live in my house for the two weeks it took to replace the power line. I contracted with New England Enterprises to dig the approx. 300 foot trench from the pole at the street to the house so that an electrician could lay new conduit and power cables from the street pole to the house.

New England Enterprises is owned by Touré Foster. He's on-site managing and doing the work. We had staked out the general outline of our project and had a few concept photos. Touré has an outstanding sense of space and aesthetics. Once this large project started, mostly we reviewed the work each day and watched the backyard be transformed. The couple of times we wanted to adjust the direction a bit, he responded immediately and revised the work perfectly. Touré is a real talent.
Description of Work: Excavated and installed retaining wall of boulders at base of large rear slope to enlarge flat area behind house. Installed two sets of large stone steps ascending the slope. Installed stone patio, including stone table and seating, at top of slope. Removed trees as necessary for project.

Toure (Foster) was highly professional, helpful and very easy to work with. He listened to what we wanted and got the job done to perfection, even when we changed our minds mid-project. He turned our front yard from a weed and bush-covered, rocky hillside to a lovely terraced smooth landscape. He used the rocks and boulders to build a stone wall surrounding the yard. Toure was masterful at handing the excavator and his work was impeccable. He completely transformed our front yard and more than delivered on this project. We couldn't be happier with the results. We will definitely use his services for any future projects around our home.
Description of Work: Excavated our sloped and boulder-strewn front yard. Leveled the yard, pulling out tree stumps and rocks of all sizes, build a large stone wall, covered the ground with fresh loam.
