when it begin, everything was done correctly Boston Porch and Deck appeared to be extremely professional, he said all the right things and we were convinced he was the man for the job, he initially asked for $1500 to start the work and came back few days later when I wasn't around and asked my wife $3000 before any work was done he had 67% of the total payment which looking back at it was our fault, he then slowly started the work and found out that he was not pulling a permit to build a legal structure, he advised me he doesn't need any permit. I went to the town and I asked them and they said absolutely I needed a permit and as a contractor you better. It was at this point that I was informed by a former client of them when they saw his trailer upfront they stopped and told me that they took $30,000 from them because he didn't build the deck to code. I started doing more investigating and found out that this was a common practice for Boston Porch and Deck. finally after excuse after excuse, I tried to tell them to go our separate ways and present John with a solution that both of us will be happy with, he wouldn't return our phone calls, he wouldn't respond to text even though i know he got them. So I didn't know what to do. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and found out they have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. they tried to resolve our issue to which they never responded within 30 days. I also enlisted the help of an attorney and sent a 30 day demand letter to Boston Porch and Deck to which they chose not to respond. If you choose to hire Boston Porch and Deck to do work make sure before any payment has given, he has complied with your town permitted laws and that he is pulling a permit as promised and before final payment is payed to them please make sure your payment has been closed sure that the permit has been closed out by the town.

REALLY BAD experience unfortunately with this company and the owner. The selling point was that it would be a great work product done efficiently. My family was told it would be a 3-4 week deck; we were told at least 4 separate times that the deck would be completed by a certain date. The number of promises made and broken are staggering. Five months later the deck has not been completed. Finally we had to go with a different contractor and figure out a way to get some of our money back (70% of contract was paid already). We were made promises right up until the end which were not honored. Some of the excuses made were ridiculous considering that the deck was not completed at 5 times longer than we were told it was going to take. I was told I couldn't even get the materials (decking, railings, etc) that I had paid for. The craftsmanship of what was done was very disappointing (posts not at 90 degrees where appropriate, unlevel portions of stairs/deck, removed portions of exterior of the house that did not need removal, weird joints of decking materials, etc). We have to redo many things, and complete half of the decking, exterior of house, railings, cables, etc.
