Geek Squad

Great job. Called ahead, arrived on time, personable and informative. Did a great job mounting tv, setting up, and reviewing remote function. Cleaned up afterwards. Price included new wall mount.

I was not interested initially as I had programs I couldn't replace easily or cheaply on my hard drive. I also liked my OS (windows 7 pro) and had tried 8 and didn't want any part of changing to the newer Operating systems. The Geek assigned to my needs convinced me he could just take my hard drive out of the old tower and install it in the new CPU and all would work seamlessly. I told them I had a project due and down time was a concern. They advised me to buy a high end graphics card. OK, I use Photoshop, I'm used to upgrading that card.I would leave my old computer and pick up the new one the following night as it was in stock. Next day came,and the upgraded card I had paid for wouldn't fit in the Dell computer I purchased.I needed to buy another smaller card, but they didn't carry one. I ordered one on line ,had it delivered to the geeks. It was 4 days later before It was ready to pick it up. I had to wait 1 hr and 40 minutes for them to "test it" and then having prepaid asked how to access my programs on the old disc. They told me Windows 10 would not be able to read or play many older program versions with out a new reload. The demo I was shown had windows 7 Pro installed. I lost $2600 worth of software I now needed to replace, find the start up discs for those that would play. I asked the new Geek (I never dealt with the same Geek twice - even the manager), if I need cables, batteries, anything that would hold me up further. No, everything I needed was provided. I got home and needed a HMDI cable as the nine pins were no longer the ways monitors connected. I had card issues and could not get my monitor recognize the CPU connection. I went back 5 times that weekend before getting the install correct so my new system functioned. The turn over time promised went from overnight to over a week. The cost tripled due to lost software programs, every answer I received from them was vague, unsure or wrong advice. The Geek manager asked how I liked his crack staff. I told him I thought they were incompetent in a low calm voice. He looked at me and firmly said he would have me removed from Best Buy if I continued my threatening, hateful speech. I told him there was no hate, just frustration with less tech knowledge than myself. He did remove me from that store in a way. He did it with his speech.
