1. If I hadn't interfered, they would have replaced a couple of roof boards with boards that were thicker than the originals. Still have one spot that is raised at roof edge. 2. All gutters were leaking at roof line. Took that eight months to come to fix. They had neglected to use proper flashing from roof drip edge to gutter lip. They wanted to caulk with silicone. I insisted that they flash. They ended up caulking three and flashing one. I hired another roofer to flash. 3. Had them close off gable vents at attic level. One side was OK. The other, has been leaking into house wall. Just found that out. They talk a good game and do some good work. But the devil is in the details and I ended up spending a pile of money for something far less than for which I paid. Additional. hurricane Sandy came through in the middle of the job. I had tyo show them how to properly secure tarps to the roof so the wind wouldn't blow tarps away.

They were great! I have used them multiple times. Very reasonably priced, reliable. They do very nice work.

The job mainly entailed exterior prepping, priming and painting of windows, trim, porches, eaves etc. We also asked for about 20 old windows to puttied and re-finished, but they could not do it due to time constraints. They were generally very sloppy with the prep work and the paint is already beginning to come off after only 1.5 years. Occasionally they would paint surfaces without even cleaning them first. Knowledge of the Tibetian language is a plus when working with this particular crew, because only the owner speaks English. We were disappointed with the work because we had seen good work done by them elsewhere. They seemed to be rushing things in order to finish the job before it got too cold to paint.

Still at work on this project and they have been great to work with.

The work is on-going but so far it i going well. They uncovered an issue and made sure I know what going forward with the work will mean in additional budget.

Overall the job was done very well. They’re good. I would recommend them to the others. Actually I have already recommended them to the others. They had actually done some major work for me in the past and there were some leaks. So they just came back to fix them. It was all part of the price. They’ve done a lot of work for me. They were very good with the price. When some things didn’t work out, they came back and fixed it. So that’s always been a good thing. They are very good with responsiveness. I will use their services again in the future.

They are great. The Tibetan monks sing while they work. They are cool. They are very nice. I have recommended them to a number of other people in the neighborhood. People would stop and ask because they liked what they saw happening to the outside of our house. He got several jobs off of that. They finish what they start. We liked them. They cleaned up after themselves. They did some inside work too. When my neighbors asked about them, I said they do really well on the outside work. They are very kind. I have recommended them to an older friend. The owner is a good listener, and he is a very kind person. He does well. Their price was very good in terms of comparing it to what they did.

We were not pleased with the work. The carpentry was excellent but the painting was not up to the standards I had hoped for. Communication was a bit problematic, they are all or mostly Tibetan. The owner speaks English but the workers speak minimal English, there was a language barrier. There were things that were not done to the expectations that I had. They replaced one of the doors on the back porch and when they installed the new one, they botched the installation. To their credit, they did come back and fix that. They did not tape the windows and there are sploches in places. It seemed that they were getting tired of working with us towards the end and were more focused on other projects. I would recommend them for their carpentry and not the painting. I would also make sure there are clear explanations set forth before the project starts. Their price was lower than some others but it was not a phenomenal break.

Our experience with them was okay. They are our neighbors. The company has actual Tibetans and so you need to have an interpreter with you all the time. It wasn’t a bad thing though, but the actual work that they did was great. It was top notch. Our house looks lovely and the work was done really well. They tore out the rotten parts and replaced it all. They also fixed up the gutter system so that it wasn’t dripping water. We had a bad gutter situation a while ago. They generally did a good job. They got it done in about 2 or 3 days. They didn’t go over budget except for the extra wood that needed to be replaced. They did a fine job. If need be, then we would probably use them again.

This company does lots of work in our neighborhood. They have replaced siding and roof of several of our neighbors' houses; neighbors report being very happy with job. They painted exterior of our house, replaced shingles, and most recently replaced porch steps and railing. Very nice people; hard workers; excellent quality. Sometimes slow to respond to phone calls and, surprisingly, slow to submit bill!

I liked Tibet overall, though my mistake was to leave some of the repair at their discretion. They replaced some rotten shingles, but we should have defined better exactly what needed fixing, as, afterwards, I had to inspect everything myself and point out many shingles that needed replacing which they hadn't done. They did whatever I told them to do, but it should have been done better the first time around. Because language is an issue, you should be extra clear about what you want. I believe Lobsang and the crew are well-intentioned, and they provide good quality for a relatively low price. They also sing Tibetian songs while they work, which is a delight!

Our overall experience, while pleasant enough on a personal level, has been thoroughly unsatisfactory due to the many many problems in shoddy work. Moreover, it is very difficult to communicate with any of the workmen and on many occasions Mr. Paljor has claimed that his level of English does not allow him to follow work descriptions. We are currently withholding moneys from this contractor and will settle when we have satisfied all the costs necessary to bring this project to a safe and proper standard.

Initially, Tibet Construction (formerly known as Tibet House Painting) painted the exterior of my house and the interior of my rental unit. As painters, I give them good marks. Mr. Paljor mentioned that he also did roofing. I had a roof over a section of my house that was still functional but was old and would need replacing sooner rather than later. I asked for an estimate based on installing a new roof identical to the installation of the then-current one. His quote was reasonable and I hired them. When the job was complete, I couldn't believe my eyes. Instead of a single sheet of roofing material installed--as the previous roof had been--odd pieces of roofing--remnants really--were patched together, with exposed nails and overlapping edges with exposed seams. The roof had to accommodate a stink pipe. Instead of cutting a round hole through which the stink pipe would go and then be sealed with flashing and sealant (as the old roof had been), four pieces of roofing were nailed up against the pipe, overlapping each other with no sealant or flashing used. This approach was used elsewhere on the roof. I am not an expert, but even I know this was shoddy workmanship in the extreme. There were ragged, unfinished edges of roofing material and flashing left untrimmed around the perimeters of the roof. All in all, a mess and not even coming close to the way the old roof had been installed. When I complained, Mr. Paljor said he would fix the problems. Basically all he did was trim the ragged edges of the roofing material and flashing and applied more patches around the stink pipe, nailing them in and leaving the nails exposed. When I told him I was not happy with the result, that this roof in no way resembled the installation of the previous one, he said that was all he would do. I had paid a 50% deposit which he kept. I did not pay for the remainder. He also refused to draw up a contract before beginning the work. When he did the painting of my house, we had a contract, but this time he felt in wasn't necessary because we were "like family" now and trust had been established already. My big mistake not to have insisted on a contract and an expensive lesson. The next big rainstorm brought with it leaks into the bedroom of my tenant's apartment in several places. The roof had never leaked before. I would never use Tibet Construction ever again. I am surprised to see all the "As" and glowing reports here.

Came to give estimate on roof. Plan to use, but have to take care of some other things first.

It was for installing 2 layers of roof. The quote was fine. They were thorough and they were very polite. They were professional but their quote was $2000 higher than the company that we ended up going with. They were very responsive. They followed up with me. I never had any negative experience with them at all.

They cleaned up completely after themselves. They came in with a good bid and stuck to it completely. They did warn us that there might be some things where they would have to go over. They were totally professional. They were incredibly quiet, did their job and left. We got what we paid for. We got a cheaper bid, but I didn't trust the guy. I would highly recommend them and I would absolutely use them again.

Excellent job with a great attention to detail. The work took longer than I expected, but they did a great job. The workers were cordial.

We got a very good deal while replacing our porch deck. Their price is good. They did a real good job. They were clean and courteous.

The Tibet Construction company was very good to work with. They painted the whole outside of our house, and some rehab work on the interior.

They are excellent in every capacity. Their price was fair. Our experience was great. They arrived on time. They were clean. I don't have a single complaint. They are nice workmen. They are polite and respectful. I would recommend them and use them again in the future.

Lobsang signed a contract that included a cost of $12,100 and a time line of four weeks from start to finish. The cost did not include any plumbing or electrical and we contracted with both directly. Lobsang knew we were on a tight schedule given the impending birth of our baby; we wanted to be back in our apartment 8 weeks before the due date. Work began a week later than expected and it ended up taking six weeks until we could return to our apartment - with a couple of day's touch up work remaining, some of which still has not been completed. Some of the increase in cost was due to the age and condition of the building and there are always unexpected costs however, the additional $4,000 was considerably more than the projected estimate. Overall, we found Lobsang mostly responsive and easy to work with, though we were disappointed by the pace and quality of the work. The contract Lobsang signed (and that we reviewed thoroughly with him) included installation of cabinets and counter-tops, yet he told me well AFTER the project was underway that they did not do such installations. Ultimately, though they did install both, there are a number of unnecessary drill holes in the back of the cabinets. We had to hire someone else to fix one of the counter-tops and install the back-splash, for which Lobsang took $500 off the final cost. Some of the finish work is very poor, including some of the plastering and painting and unfilled gaps in the existing wood floor. The paint on the wall in the baby's room peeled off with light scotch tape a month after completion and Lobsang told us that was our responsibility. He had told us that they would come back to take care of the work that we were not satisfied with, but he has not returned the three messages I have left since we gave him final payment in January. Obviously, we should not have given him the final payment until all work was completed to our satisfaction, however, we thought that we were working with a contractor that we could trust and would live up to his word. In each of the rooms Tibet Construction worked on, there is ample evidence of the shoddy work that was not completed or fixed.

I have a high opinion of this company. Their work is great. It is hard to get people to do high quality work at a good price and they do that. The only problem I ran into is that it was hard getting a hold of them to do the work, but once they started, everything was just great.

These folks were a pleasure to deal with. Lobsang is extremely professional and personable. He was readily accessible during the period in which I was weighing competing bids. He started work as promised- and kept to his reasonable proposal price. His 3 person crew worked hard and well and was exceptional about cleaning up the work each day. The head of the crew was easy to engage. Lobsang visited during the work and was responsive to questions that arose. I was extremely pleased with the performance of this job. One suggestion is that Labsong switch from handwritten to typed proposals. Although many who use the latter fill it with cookie-cutter material (and can couple it with an inflated estimate), I do feel that a typed proposal would be better matched to the professionalism of Lobsang's operation. But again, this was an A+ customer satisfaction experience.

Mr. Paljor responded promptly to my call, arrived on time the following day, examined the roof, determined that it needed replacing. He determined where the roof was leaking and repaired it the following day. As I am considering building a second floor addition to the house I am putting off the roof replacement until next year at which time I will hire Tibet Construction to either replace the roof or work on the addition. I found Mr. Paljor to be prompt, friendly, generous and enthusiastic about his work. He would not accept payment for the work at the time and has not charged me for the repair.
