Handyman Specialist

Very smoothly and very well. I engaged Mike to repair some windows that wouldn't stay up. But their design is such that you really need a specialized professional window company for that. Mike was flexible enough to shift to my Plan B on very short notice: remove the old carpet. He got his tools, outlined his course of action with me, and got to work. A homeowner could do this sort of work, but only if he were strong enough and patient enough to spend a lot of time on his knees. And willing to put up with a lot of carpet dust. (Mike wore a face mask.) NOTE: With a removal job like this, be sure to have a Plan for disposing of the debris. And a Plan B for that, too.

He did an excellent job. He came out gave an estimate and stayed at that price. He built exterior steps and attached a gutter. He is very knowledgeable and we are using his services again in the very near future.

He did exactly as I ask him to do. I changed my plans and he was very accommodating. He made some suggestions which I appreciated. He cleaned up after himself very well. I would highly recommend him.

Mike kept in constant contact with me about every step of the way. While I was at work, he went to our rental property to check out the work to be done. He called me from there and listed everything he intended to complete in two days. He also gave me a labor quote right away once he saw what he was working with. While the work proceeded, he called to update me on supplies he was purchasing and work completed. He also provided us with a detailed list of the work he completed, all receipts and all left over supplies. We will definitely call Mike again. What a very nice guy.

Mike did a fantastic job! I was very pleased with the professionalism, craftsmanship, cleanliness, and price. This was a job on a fairly old house,to set the sub floor and retile the bathroom floor. The first day was a long one, with setting all of the tile. Mike stayed late to finish on the first night to keep the project in the two day time frame. This was a huge help, as the house only has one bathroom and we needed to stay elsewhere. I think that the finished product was impeccable. I am very happy with the job that Mike did.

Very well. Mike was on time, very professional, polite, and solved a number of problems on the spot. He paid attention to detail, and everything worked as well or better when it was put back together.

Mike was great to work with. We needed to reschedule our work and he went above and beyond to fit me in (worked a holiday I had free). He arrived promptly and worked hard. The interior door replacement went smoothly, but having and old house, the pre-hung door installation was ripe with problems to overcome. Mike tackled each issue with enthusiasm and seem to really enjoy the challenges of figuring out the puzzles presented. Without complaint we worked past 5:00, cleaned up, and yet he still charged me his day rate. Also he didn't mind me helping (in what little way I could) and was easy to communicate with. I look forward to my next project and having it done with this fine man.

Mike first came out for an estimite and he told me what type of door & hardware to buy. The doors were a special order so it took about a week to 10 days. When the doors came in & Mike was available, he met me at the home improvement store (for a slight fee), to pick up the doors. He installed the closet doors and he helped me hang a few pictures. Very professional, polite and tidy. I will use him again.

I hired Mike for the jobs at my mother's house. She was nervous about having someone she didn't know. But after those two days, she raved about him. He worked so hard and was very particular about his work. He kept her informed of what he was doing and was very polite. She was very comfortable having him work on her house. He did a great job in replacing the rotted wooden plank, painting and cleaning. It was perfect. He cleaned up after he was done. When he came for the estimate he spent a lot of time explaining the work he would be doing. We asked him to pick up the supplies for us, since he is more knowledgeable about what is needed. It was for a small fee of $25.00. He was very accommodating. We enjoyed his company and was very happy with his work and that we were able to find someone who could do so many different types of jobs. It's refreshing to find someone who cares and takes great pride in his work.

My wife and met with Mike in May and we were impressed by the start with his friendliness and candor. He gave us excellent advice on the size of fans for each room we were going to put one in and gave us a price and a date for the installation. When he came to do the job, he called before arriving, letting me know he was almost there. Once inside, he was very respectful about our place -- he asked before placing his tools down if it's okay to put something on our table, counter, floor, ect... As far as the installation of the fans, he was quick and knowledgeable -- each fan took less than hour to install. When there was a problem (there were no washers included in the fan installation), he informed me of it and worked quickly. When everything was completed, he clean up quickly and thoroughly (there was really no mess to deal with). Overall, Mike is a pleasure to work with and we will be going to him for any other home improvements we may need. He is a nice guy.

Mike was a pleasure to work with and did a great job. He arrived promptly, finished ahead of his estimated time, did high quality work and cleaned up after each day s work. He was very clear in his explanations, and often presented alternative ways of solving a problem to see which one I preferred. We were particularly impressed that Mike was both willing and able to repair two cracked treads in our beautiful oak and gumwood staircase. One tread had split along its entire length, and was in two pieces, and the other was almost as bad. Many other contractors had refused to touch this job, and said they would have to disassemble the entire staircase to repair the treads, and they didn t want to do that. Mike figured out a way to remove the treads by carefully removing some of the balusters. He then inserted reinforcing boards to support the cracked treads, and then put the treads and balusters back. One tread did crack more in the process, but after Mike sanded it and filled the new crack and all the preexisting cracks with wood putty, the treads looked fine, and we had a secure staircase that we were not going to damage further every time we went up or down the stairs. I was very glad that I was available to answer questions when Mike was doing work for us. With the kinds of work he does, unforeseen questions often arise, and he likes to get your preference among alternative solutions. I m sure he would have done very professional, high quality work even if I wasn t available for questions, but I think I got the absolute best, most pleasing-to-me results because I was available for his questions.

Very well. He got back to me with an estimate within a short amount of time. He showed up on time and finished the job within the time period he said he would.

He was responsive, showed up on time and completed the job just as he said he would. His price was much lower and his work was of the very highest quality. I recommend him highly and would call on him again without reservation.

Very positive. Mike is very professional with good people skills. He did a great job installing the fence & in 2 days as he originally estimated. I imagine it was a challenge because the 3 sections of fence all needed to be cut to fit right. It looks great. Price was very fair (having gotten multiple quotes) & included labor & supplies. Mike was terrific. He arrived right on time and got to work immediately. The shower project took about 3 hours and then he spent another 3 hours doing the various other jobs. He completed all of the jobs thoroughly and left the work areas clean when he was finished. Mike is a nice person and I felt comfortable with him.

Overall, every visit from the Handyman Specialist has gone well in the past. I plan on calling him again soon to have more work done!

I rearranged my day to be at my house between 5:30-6:30pm because that was when he said he was going to come out for the estimate. He never showed up and never called. I think it is unfortunate that he had good ratings with Angie's List.

Mr. Bowser is an excellent craftsman and very professional. For the first meeting, he arrived on time and provided me a clear estimate for the work I requested, which consisted of multiple small repairs. He called the week before the appointment to do the work to reconfirm and arrived on the date exactly on time. He offered to either purchase the necessary materials (which I opted for) or to give me information about materials if I wished to obtain them myself. The work was done very well and he was meticulous about cleaning up after each job. I have some additional repairs remaining and intend to hire him for those as well. All in all, he is a gem. His schedule is busy so you may have to wait some time, but the demand is a reflection of his value.

I've already made plans for him to come back in a month for additional work. He's very trustworthy. I'd give him a key to my house if I'm not home and trust him. He's also very punctual.

Mike returned our call quickly and came and gave us an estimate. We set up an appointment and he arrived on time for the appointment. Mike brought in drop cloths and was careful about keeping any saw dust contained to his work area. He set to work on fixing the doors and once finished with the doors, proceeded to attach the dishwasher to the granite countertop and lastly worked on removing a toilet tank that was malfunctioning and replaced it with a new toilet tank. We're very pleased with the job that Mike did. He is very attentive to detail, extremely personable and seems to be a knowledgeable handyman.

He is meticulous in his work, and communicates clearly what he will need to do. When the job turns out to be bigger than initially planned for (additional rot discovered under porch) he immediately discusses the problem (by cell phone if necessary), and offers several options to choose from in how to proceed. He is more than willing to take the time to explain what he is doing and why. His workmanship is of high quality and has been completely satisfactory. His prices seem entirely reasonable for the quality of work and time needed to do the job well. We plan to have him return to do other jobs later in the spring, and would happily recommend him to anyone needing a reliable, personable, articulate handyman.

Mike is very good at figuring things out and solving problems. When we realized that the sconces I had purchased weren't going to work the way the room was set up, I was crushed! (I had pretty much designed the room around the sconces and chandelier!) The problem was, the old sconces had on/off switches right on them - they weren't controlled by a light switch on the wall - the way the new ones were designed. Without rewiring the room, I was stuck, if I wanted to use those sconces. Mike (MacGyver) had the idea to try using the buttons and switches from the old sconces on the new ones. After talking about it and getting the OK from me, he put them together and they worked & look GREAT! Mike works by the 1/2 or full day, so if you have just one small job, look around and see what else needs fixing to hire him 1/2 day. If you're anything like me, that won't be too hard! Book Handyman Specialist now, because he is really in demand as the months get warmer! He's a great guy.

Mike answered our initial email promptly and scheduled a visit/estimate for the next day. We chose the 'hourly rate' option to allow flexibility on the final task list. Mike always showed up on time (or early) and worked hard and efficiently throughout the day. Make up a list of all the tasks you have around the house and Mike can take care of them all. When painting, he'll work on other projects while waiting for the first coat to dry, so have your list ready.

Mike's work was outstanding. He took time on his weekend to come see my house and gave me plenty of time discussing the projects planned. Our communication (touching base prior to and during the work) was great. He always showed up as agreed, cleaned up when finished, and went the extra mile to meet with me (stopped in off hours to return keys and talk about the work done). Mike was very professional and personal, liked to talk, knew his limits, and never made me feel unappreciated or disrespected. His rates were reasonable and I plan to contract his excellent services again.

Mike was excellent to work with -- positive customer-centric attitude and no surprise costs or delays, though the work was harder than average because of a large number of rocks in the way and because I asked him to pick through materials I had on hand. The work site looked great afterward, and the fence is still standing strong after about 6 months and 2 damaging wind storms. Very happy with work quality.
