Handyman Specialist

He was very pleasant. The end result was fine. My overall experience with him was good. His price was excellent. He was responsive and punctual.

Mike was very professional and pleasant and honest. He knows his limitations and is not afraid to say them; VERY IMPRESSIVE! Though we went with someone else (family acquaintance); I would not hesitate to provide his name to anyone.

Mike is very dependable and accommodating. His work is very good because he really wants everything done right. His pricing is extremely fair. This is the second time I had Mike do work for me and certainly will have him again when the need arises.

We enjoy DIY projects and took on our bathroom remodel ourselves. We reached a point where we needed help and / or advice. He came out to see our project and discuss our plans. Emailed an estimate that was done in steps so we could choose what we wanted to do ourselves and what we wanted help with based on our abilities and also the cost. We ended up having him help us with the real "crafty" areas... he did the drywall / joint compounding and also the trim work throughout the bathroom. I purchased the trim and painted it before he cut and installed it to make it easier. He worked around our needs and time schedule. He took care of the drywall / joint compounding, then we took the weekend to install the flooring, and he returned the next week to install the trim. He was very helpful and professional. We liked that we could choose to have him help us with specific parts of the project and that he worked around us. It looks great!

Though Mike was late in his appointment for the estimate, he was in constant contact as to why. The estimate process went well and he sent a quote shortly afterwards. I replied to the e-mailed quote with a couple questions (and noted I'd get back to him once I got one more quote) and never heard back from him. Followed up a couple times and heard nothing. Would never bother contacting him again.

This is another update, to my previous report, submitted April, 2012. As stated before, I never received a phone call or e-mail, from Mike Bowser, Handyman Specialist; even after my Angie's List review. As of May 25, 2012, I am still awaiting a response from Mike. There has been no contact or an attempt to repair the broken screens. I am submitting this additional update to the problem. We took it upon ourselves to find a local shop, to repair the broken screens. Needless to say, it cost us $100.00, out of pocket, for the repairs. My husband installed the screens himself and did a great job. Mike, you are now "off the hook". You do not have to come back and fix the errors you made. It is very obvious to me you did not want to return because it would have been a no pay job. You stated to me, in the past, if anything goes wrong, with any of my jobs, please contact you. You also asked me to submit good reviews on Angie's List. Mike, I did both. Your lack of concern and communication skills are awful. I have read other reviews, on Angie's List, and see you have treated a few customers the same way. Thanks for nothing, Mike. Problem solved. You went from A+ to F in my reports. Very poorly, and very unprofessional. I truly wish I didn't have to write this report, because things went extremely well, in the past. I will have someone else take the screens down and more than likely bring to Home Depot, for the repairs. I shouldn't have to pay for the repairs to the screens. The screens were not installed correctly!! It is a Contractors responsibility to return and fix the problem, at no cost! (only additional supplies, if needed). I feel like he is trying to duck out of this situation, and perhaps hoping it will just go away.

OVERALL GREAT. ONE TIME CURTIOUS CLEAN PAYS ATTENTION TO DETAIL.

When they came to provide estimates they spent an hour and a half to make sure everything was right. When they did the work one of the tiles was chipped. They came back and fixed it. They were really good.

He did a great job. Mike Bowser is the owner. He gave me the best quote by far. He was very professional. He just gave me a quote and we weren't sure if we wanted him to do the work. A couple of months later, we needed the work to be done quickly and then he came out. He did it very quickly and did it all in one day. He worked the entire day. He did a fabulous job.

Mike was very responsive from the start. He came at the appointed time for the initial review of the situation. He was very prompt on providing an estimate, and very specific for the work details and pricing. I commissioned him to remove old grout and replace, as well as seal the grouting. His pricing was fair. His responsiveness was outstanding. The quality of his work was terrific. I would hire him again in a heartbeat, and have already recommended him to friends. 5 star service.

I am satisfied with all aspects of services provided by Handyman Specialists. However, it is hard to schedule with them.

I called the Handyman who promptly returned my call to set up an appointment to provide an estimate. He missed the first meeting, which was disappointing, but rescheduled at my convenience, so that was fine. During the estimate meeting, he thoroughly inspected the job site to understand exactly what work would be needed, which provided a level of comfort in knowing that the estimate provided for time to complete the job would be accurate. The estimate was provided within a few days following the visit via e-mail, and he was able to complete the work within a week after the estimate was provided (actually too fast for my schedule). The estimate also included a list of supplies to pick up in order to complete the work. To cut down on the job cost, the Handyman gives the option to either pick up the supplies himself (at an additional cost) or let me pick up the supplies. I opted to get the supplies myself, which worked out fine for the work being performed. The work went very well. The Handyman and an assistant arrived on time to complete the job (8am) and worked the entire day (to 4pm) without much of a break. An additional 1/2 day of work was needed to complete some odd jobs around the house, which was completed a few days later. All of the work looks great and I am confident that it was completed correctly. The Handyman and his employee were nice and clean around the job site. Payment was provided following the work, and the estimate provided was what was paid.

I didn't really like the way he did the door on the garage and I told him that. I just didn't like the way it came out. I had him come out and he tried to adjust it, but I still didn't like the way it looked. It just didn't look right to me. The bulkhead doors are wooden so he just rebuilt them and then replaced them. They weren't cut very even. I just wasn't happy with the job he did. The price was fair. He was responsive. The door didn't look good. He had the bulkhead doors open to dry and the wind took one of the doors and cracked it so he had to replace that. They close and all, but they are not even. If you look at the doors, the woodwork is not even on the top. It's not a good job.

He was great. He was accommodating and came on time. He did the little jobs that I needed. I used him a couple of times.

No work was performed as there was no follow up from Handyman Specialist to my email.

I like him a lot and I think he is a nice guy.

He responded promptly and was able to do the work within one week of the initial contact. The other contractors indicated we could not take the tile off the wall without damage but Mike assured us he had done it before and his bed was much less than the other contractors with this proposal. He did the work as promised and the wall look as if they never had tile on them. He roughed up the tile floor so it would accept the new tile and everything came out great. He also put together an IKEA vanity and got all the draws to align correctly (not an easy task). I also had him paint the stair well and ceilings in the dining room and kitchen. Everything was done on time and within budget. I would hire him again.

It went very smoothly - really no problems at all and they were very flexible receiving keys to gain entry. The price and service were great, a good experience. I would definitely use them again.

When I contacted Mike for an estimate, he responded right away. He made an appointment to come to our house to review what we needed done. He took a look at each area, asked detailed questions, took notes, explained how he intended to approach each task and discussed what materials he would need to complete the job. He provided us with a detailed written estimate within a day or so. The estimate included the projects that we discussed, the amounts and price of all necessary materials and a total price for all the work. The day Mike came to do the work, he had the courtesy to call and say he was going to be a few minutes late. When he and his assistant arrived, they hit the ground running and did a fantastic job with each and every project. Mike is very precise and innovative in his work. With respect to the basement floor (there had been a board over the hole that had become warped due to previous flooding); Mike place concrete blocks in the hole with the pipes to use as support for the covering (which is at the bottom of a set of stairs) and then built a cover that fit perfectly and which has handles that we can use if we ever need to remove the cover. With the stained glass, after the stain on one of the frames dried, he attached chains (which he purchased before hand after assessing the weight of each piece of stained glass during our initial meeting) to the frames of 3 pieces and carefully drilled holes in the window frames for the screws. All three pieces hang beautifully. Mike also hung each of the pictures with great care; like the stained glass - all of the pictures are hanging perfectly. We had tried to repair the two broken kitchen drawers several times - they literally were falling apart; Mike repaired both and they look as good as new. Mike is polite, professional and very innovative in his work. He went from one project to the next without wasting any time. (For example, when the stain on the frame of one of the pieces of the stained glass and the paint on the window frame were drying, he was tackling something else.) My husband & I were thrilled with the finished result of each and every project. The cost of a day's work at our house was more than fair and we highly recommend him and will call him for any future home repair projects.

No complaints: Courteous, punctual, willing to explain. We've used Mike before and will do so again.

The experience was great! Mike is a very professional and explained, in detail, what he planned on doing. I was very impressed by his knowledge and he has a great personality. I asked him to send me the estimate, via e-mail, which he did very quickly! I will be using Mike, within the next two weeks, to do the repairs I need. The estimate he gave me was right on and very reasonable. I am looking forward to working with The Handyman Specialist! I will re-submit an additional report, once the job has been completed. The job was completed on November 15, 2011, by Mike. I am SO PLEASED with his work! He is a perfectionist, and a true professional, in every way! He is on time, calls if he has a question or concern, and is very polite. I was VERY IMPRESSED at the way he installed my new, screen door, for the screened in porch. He replaced four old screens, in the porch, and it looks great! The door adds a whole new look, to my deck area. The chair rail, that Mike installed, in the bedroom, is beautiful. I can't wait to start painting/papering in the room! Mike and his worker did a nice job removing the old, waterlogged ceiling tiles, in my basement apartment, and installed new ones. I have a beautiful new laundry room ceiling, and no more brown, water logged tiles in the kitchen area. Mike your awesome - many thank you's again!! I HIGHLY recommend Mike Bowser, for any repairs you need to your home. He is a very nice guy and will do an honest, hard days work for you. A+++++ for The Handman Specialist! :)

THE WORK DONE ON MY CONCRETE WALL CAME OUT GREAT. I'd recommend MIKE TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS WORK AROUND THE HOUSE DONE!

The experience was excellent. It is a single gentleman who does the job. He always explains everything that he is going to do. He always does it with a high level of confidence. He is very flexible with his schedule. He is always responsive whenever you need something done. He is such a type of guy that you can trust to come in and out of your house. You can just leave him the key. Everything is taken care of and there is never any problem. He does a great job.
