Connolly Floors

The owner is a good guy but he kind of made a mistake on two rooms; the polyurethane didn't stick well to the floors. He did other rooms very well but didn't sand the first two rooms and it resulted in something less than we had hoped for. He just made a decision on the first two rooms. He is responsive and his price was good. I will use them again in the future.

Hired Jack to refinish H/W floors prior to moving into new house. He was very professional throughout the process and explained everything in great detail. He and his crew beat me to the house every AM ahead of schedule so I never once had to wait to let them in and the work was done right on schedule which was very important since we had furniture coming in shortly there after. The finished product was absolutely beautiful and I can't recommend him highly enough.

After coming to my residence [to provide an estimate], Jack Connolly failed to provide a quote [as he had promised]. I called 3 times, and he never returned my call. I emailed. Again, no response. Extremely poor professionalism. Would never recommend.

We have children and because of VOCs we needed to be out of the house while the work was getting completed. I call Jack, who was prompt and professional, and he work with us so they would refinish the floors while we were on vacation (Fourth of July). When we returned it felt like we stepped into a new house. They looked perfect. Also, we felt secure in giving Jack the keys to our house because he was always on the job site. I would highly recomend Connolly Floors.

Jack and his team were outstanding! During Jack's inspection, he identified that the living room did not need to be stripped, just re-sealed- saving us a lot. Jack also included adding a lip at the juncture of our sliding glass doors- which he included in our price. Jack and his team were responsive & flexible in working with me and our electrician who was doing work on our home at the same time on a tight deadline. The results are beautiful! I strongly recommend Jack to anyone looking to work on their hardwood floors.

Awesome. Setting up the time was easy and they arrived on time to get started. The put up drop cloths around the house to keep the fumes from going into the rest of the house. Little saw dust post job! They sanded and put the varnish down in three days. We gave it about 4 days to set before we moved back in and the floors look awesome. Great price and exceptional experience.

Jack and his crew did a terrific job, and Jack was a pleasure to work with start to finish. I must have called Jack 10 times for various little scheduling adjustments and questions, and all but one time he actually picked up the call, even on the weekend. This was a small job, but Jack worked with us to figure out how to fit us into his schedule, working around visits from realtors and house photographers. He was very flexible, again being willing to complete the job on a weekend so that it could get done in time for our first showing. In addition, his crew did a spectacular job of making sure that we didn't have to spend hours cleaning up the dust from the initial sanding. (This was not the case with a previous refinishing firm we used when we moved into our condo five years ago, and it was a REAL headache to deal with the dust all over the kitchen.) Best of all, however, was the quality of the work. This refinishing job had two edges where it needed to blend into visible edges of flooring that was NOT being refinished. The new area looks fantastic, but you can hardly tell where the seams are, and the finish matches perfectly. It was masterfully done. Jack's pricing was very reasonable to start with, and then he gave us our 10% discount for Angie's List on top of that. There was one small problem where the sanding drum caught a facing board alongside a closet in a way that damaged the wood, but the crewman was very apologetic and did a fine job of prepping it for repainting. Overall, we were so grateful to have this small job done in such a timely and professional way. And our floors look amazing!

Great! Jack's crew got started exactly when they said they would and worked efficiently to do the work. They even came to finish the job on a Sunday when our heat failed, preventing them from working on Saturday. Jack's price was better than everyone elses estimate(by a lot) and he was very accommodating with his schedule. I highly recommend him.

Excellent job. I got a quick response when I called, He actually came right over for an estimate since he was working nearby at the time. Very knowledgeable, I had some questions about other wood floors in the house and he was very helpful and honest. They did a great job, great clean-up, excellent price and used the angie list coupon! Will definitely use again.

Jack and his guys did a great job refinishing our hardwood floors. They were in and out within the expected timeframe. We'll definitely be calling Jack to continue work on the rest of the floors throughout our house.

Another great job by Jack and his crew. Extremely easy to work with and close attention to detail. We did a walkthrough of all the required patches and they look superb. They were able to reuse some of the old boards from a different area of the floor to make the necessary patches, and all the sanding and finishing were completed quickly (albeit with the requisite 3 days for each coat to dry). Jack has now refinished all the floors on our ground floor, and they look great. Jack is easy to talk to and always willing to work around tight schedules.

Jack's team was on time every morning (they came five days), very professional, friendly, and quick with their work. When I was unsure which stain we wanted, Jack was patient and put down six stain samples on our floor the first morning so that we could decide. When we came home after the third coat of poly had been applied, we were AMAZED at how beautiful our floors looked! We couldn't have even imagined such an incredible transformation. I'm sure that our property value has increased substantially from the work done by Connolly Floors. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I was also very happy with the discounts and competitive final price that he gave us.

Jack and his crew did a fabulous job. They were professional and courteous and kept me informed every step of the way. The original bid was for $2,900, but that was before he took up the carpeting on the stairs and discovered that they needed to be rebuilt. After getting my okay, he hired an outside carpenter to rebuild the stairs for $1,350. Jack and his crew did a great job of cleaning up inside the house. I carted the garbage (e.g., the carpet they took up) to our local dump. They forgot to do the upstairs closets but were great about taking care of them after I pointed that out. The only downside was the whole job took significantly longer than I had expected. They said the whole job would take three days, but it took 2 to 2.5 weeks. But all in all, I was tremendously satisfied and enthusiastically recommend them.

Jack came over the same afternoon as my first call to see and measure the room, and was able to schedule the work quickly. Excellent work and clean-up, over three successive mornings. No add-ons to the price he gave me up front. (One other refinisher I called (who got a high rating on Anglie's List) was polite but not interested in a job this small.)

I called for an estimate and Jack showed up on time to give me a free estimate. He seemed quite knowledgeable and his price was excellent. so I hired him for the job. He told me that he would come on Thursday at 8:00 AM to begin the work but didn't show up until 2:00 PM. I had to call him to see when he would arrive. The work was completed over a three day period. The first day Jack showed up with a crew of two helpers and sanded the floors and put the first coat of polyurethane on. He doesn't use a dustless sanding method but was very neat. I had previously covered all my furniture with drop cloths to keep the dust down. He added a few extra ones and covered the doorway to my kitchen. I also installed a box fan in my storm door to suck out the airborne dust. As a result I had very little dust. Jack showed up on the second and third days on time to put the final two coats of polyurethane on. I would grade the work quality as a B because I could see some fine scratches on areas of the stairs and on one of my hallways that had the boards installed across the hallway. These areas could only be sanded with with an edger, which is an aggressive sander. However, I feel that some sanding with a finer grade sandpaper could have removed the fine scratches. Overall the job looks good I am satisfied with the quality of the job. I wanted an oil based polyurethane (and Jack recommended), which is more durable that a water based product. If you have children or if you are sensitive to odors I would suggest ventilating the house thoroughly or using a water based poly. Oil based poly does have a strong odor, which lasted about 5-6 days before it was cured. I used a window fan to vent the house and left the windows open. Overall I would recommend Jack to anyone.

They fit us in quickly and came over the weekend to do second and third quotes and cleaned after themselves very nicely. Very professional and punctual. The floors look great. I would use these guys again.

It went very well. He had to be meticulous as the floors were hand painted. The gentleman was prompt, had a reasonable price, and did quality work.

First, let me say that I HIGHLY recommend using Jack Connolly and Connolly Floors. When I called Jack for a quote, he answered his phone (very nice) and was willing to come over on short notice for a quote. He was on time for the quote and came back to me with figures for the job within a day. Jack's pricing was more than fair for the work I was contracting him to complete. We had talked about coming over on my house closing date to begin the work. Jack was there within an hour of my closing and worked through a holiday weekend because he knew we were anxious to move. Jack and team worked quickly showing up when they said they would and completing the work within the time frame quoted. The floors look great and we couldn't be happier. The floors look just as we requested. We wanted a specific level of gloss and he got it spot on. Even the hardwood section beneath the removed tile landing is as good as new. Hats off to Jack and team for a job well done!

Jack was prompt with scheduling an estimate. He offered sound advice about the condition of our floors and offered a fair estimate with a discount through Angie's List. Jack was very responsive to emails and was able to schedule the work during a time that was convenient for us. The work was completed in three days as proposed. Jack worked quickly and efficiently, and did not leave any dust behind. The floors look wonderful and I am pleased that we chose Jack to complete the job!

I was very happy that I picked Jack to refinish my floors. His estimate was significantly less than all of the other contractors I called, but more importantly, he worked with me to get the project done on a short time table and patiently waited as I kept changing my start date because of closing issues. I closed on my house on a Wednesday afternoon and needed to move in on Saturday. A full refinish with sanding usually is done over three days but Jack and his crew got it done in two. The floors were completely dry and beautiful by the time I arrived the next afternoon with a truck full of stuff. I was thrilled with the job and thankful that I had chosen Jack.

Jack was excellent. He was prompt with the estimate, gave us a great deal for doing all rooms rather than just the couple we originally thought we'd do, and gave us the Angie's List discount without reminding. He was also able to fit us in the next day as we prepared to move into our new house in two weeks. The floors are gorgeous red oak that looks like new with just the right amount of gloss. The crew cleaned up well. The only small disappointment is that the tiny half bath appears not to have been hand sanded and has been gouged a bit too deep where the sander stopped so looks a bit warped (Jack warned they would have a hard time getting in there), and one small area near the fireplace seems to have a small spill of extra urethane. Still, few others would notice this. Everything else is perfect! I also think they use quality products.

I had some contractors refer me to "their guys," but Jack was more responsive and helpful, with a better price to boot. The patch is perfect and the floors look great. The workers were on time and efficient. They did chip the corner of a baseboard cap in a room I had been working on, but Jack rounded down the price to account for their mistake (without me needing to ask). Highly recommended.
