I got an estimate from Jeff and another contractor. Jeff's estimate was actually higher than the other person's but it was obvious to me from my interactions that Jeff was sharper and likely to do better work. The whole process of getting estimates made me want to select him. The experience went exactly as I had hoped. Jeff proposed a layout and design for the bathroom and took ownership of the process. He asked me to pick out tiles and amenities and he took care of the rest. To his great credit, Jeff did a superb job with the layout. I would say that his eye for design impressed me the most. For example, he suggested that we add a skylight to the bathroom which ended up being one of the nicest features of the bathroom! The whole look of the bathroom and the attention to detail ended up superbly. Jeff's crews were professional and cleaned up after themselves. Jeff is a tiler by trade and his craftsmanshp shone through the project. Customers should note that Jeff's vendors and prices may be higher than other people. As I mentioned, I had lower bids but was more interested in high quality. When I proposed buying a vanity from Home Depot, he suggested another vendor who was more expensive, but higher quality. That's what you'll be getting from Jeff -- excellence, quality, and experience. In our case, I am confident the higher price was worth it having seen the finished project. I would pick Jeff again in a heartbeat if I were doing another project like this. He's pleasant to work with as well.
Description of Work: Jeff Veglia and team put in a new full bathroom in our third floor. The space was really a finished attic without any plumbing. He and his contractors did everything from install electrical, bring up pipes, put up walls, sheetrock, tile, and install a toilet, shower, and sink.

I am very pleased to write this review because my wife and I are so excited to have our new bathroom. Our home was built in 1873 and is designated a Historic District by the City of Somerville Historic Preservation Commission. This job was a challenge to do. The original vent pipe was badly corroded and needed to be replaced and this accounted for a smell we could never figure out. Thank you to Tony and his crew for dealing with a difficult job. We were so impressed that they removed the entire stack with no damage at all to the wall downstairs. We want to thank Jeff, Johnny, Mario, Gary, Tony, Dan, Jairo, Elvis and Paul. These guys came on time and there was somebody working on the bathroom every day. They were like clock work. Dan and Jairo did a fantastic job tiling. They are artists. Our 86 year old father lives with us and these men were very professional, respectful and all gentlemen. You just never know who you are getting when you hire a contractor and these guys are all a gem. I want to thank Jeff who always answered my calls, texts and emails and always got right back to me whenever I reached out to him. He was incredibly responsive and I thank him very much. The bathroom was poorly constructed from the start and Jeff and his crew came up with a plan to maximize the space and give us the largest shower they could. We added a linen cabinet and the bathroom still looks and feels larger. The wall entering the bathroom was poorly constructed and Dan was really concerned that it would not be sound structurally and the swing of the door would eventually cause problems. He advised us to let them knock down the wall and reframe it and replace the door with a smaller one to provide a more sound wall structurally. He was concerned that we would have a beautiful bathroom and not be happy with the entry to the bathroom and he was right. We were concerned that this would add to our budget and Jeff assured us that he would not charge for the wall to be reframed because it was the right way to do it. He held to his word. He also included a discount quoted on Angies list. He proved to me a man of his word from beginning to end. If you are thinking of hiring a contractor you cannot do better than Jeff Veglia so stop looking. We would hire him again in a heart beat and are already having discussions about having heat and a new floor installed in our kitchen. John and JoAnn Murrah John and JoAnn Murray
Description of Work: Jeff and his staff fully gutted our bathroom to studs, framed a walk in shower, installed rough plumbing with a copper pan and 2" drain, the toilet was moved where the vanity was, the vanity sink and faucet where installed in another part of the bathroom. Rough electrical was installed consisting of two recessed lights, sconce,GFI circuit and switches. Insulation and fire blocking was done to code. Mud was installed in copper pan, durock was installed in the shower area on walls. The walls were blueboarded and plaster on outer walls. The drop ceiling was removed to bring the ceiling up to the original height. Tile was installed and grouted in the shower area, shower floor and main floor. The wall entering the bathroom was removed to place the switch on the outside and have a proper swing to the door to clear the pedestal sink. All finish carpentry including vanity was done and finish electrical and plumbing done as well. The bathroom was painted to complete the job. Also, Gary installed a fan in our bedroom which was a separate request.

Jeff and his team are incredibly responsible and doing high quality works. It was very pleasant to work with him and his crew. I interviewed 8 contractors including several high rated contractors from Angie's list, but I knew that Jeff is the one can do the best job. Converting a very small laundry room in to a bathroom for a Boston apartment built in 1900 is a very challenging work and I wasn't sure if it is possible. I asked most of the contractors come with plumber and almost every one of them didn't show up with their plumbers. I made appointment with Jeff 7:00AM in a Sunday morning. The night before I met Jeff, I read almost all of reviews about his company until 1:00AM. Each one of them was very vivid and backed by detailed stories and I knew all reviews are very credible. Next day, a little before 7:00AM, Jeff and his plumber Tony showed up at my apartment. I explained to Jeff what I panning to do. He started to measure and look around all over the apartment and basement utility room. He told me that adding an extra bathroom is feasible and he gave me phone number for his kitchen designer - Ed. Ed provided me a 3D new kitchen layout. What a difference when you use a professional designer! After 3 - 4 days, Jeff sent me an estimate. You couldn't believe how good memory he has. He captured every single details we talked about. He looks like a guy who easily forget things. I signed contract with Jeff. Next challenge was getting approval from condo association. The condo association was hesitating to approve adding an extra bathroom. They afraid of me using too much water. Jeff convinced them. I don't know how did it. Next day, he called and gave me a phone number for his right hand man - Elvis to pass him apartment keys. I called Elvis that I only can meet him after work hour. He kindly offered that he can come to my work to get keys. Elvis stared work the next morning. He always checked with me before he doing things. When he work on tiles, he took pictures and sent to me first to see if I like that arrangement. One Sunday morning he called me and told me that he don't like the back splash that I chose for kitchen. Since it looks similar to tiles in bathroom, it will remind people bathroom when you are in the kitchen. He went Home Depot with me in that morning to help me pick nice backslashes. You couldn't imagine how that back splash changed the appearance of my entire kitchen and how much do I appreciate him. I worked with Jeff's electrician - Gary, plumber - Tony, glass guy - Berry and painter - Berry. Each on of them are very friendly and professional. It took around 2 month from start to finish since I keep adding extra works. Jeff and Elvis cleaned up entire apartment and basement utility room thoroughly after completion. Whenever there are small issues, Jeff's people showed up right away and fixed issue immediately. Now I have a brand new beautiful apartment. If you want worry free, high quality work, please go with Jeff. You wouldn't regret it.
Description of Work: Remodeled both kitchen and bathroom. converted a laundry room to a bathroom. Upgraded electricity. Replaced ceiling for two bedrooms and living room. Painted entire apartment.

Overall, Jeff was incredibly responsive, professional and upfront with any issues. Jeff and his team, including Dan, completed a full kitchen remodel with demo down to studs. Jeff and his designer Ed presented us with a new and more functional layout. The project also included extensive structural work. Jeff removed the main structural wall of our house (built in the 1960s) to create a larger kitchen with open floor plan into the dining area and living room, which required a new large structural beam. Jeff kept us up to date with any additional costs and issues (which we ended up having very few). When the structural work turned out to be more extensive than anticipated, Jeff immediately called and explained exactly what had to be done and the costs associated with it to make sure we wanted to proceed. He was respectful of our budget and time constraints. Some of the additional features of our kitchen, which all turned out great included: - down draft and complicated venting system for a gas cooktop on a new island (we had an old electric stove prior to reno) - new gas line for cooktop - new recessed lighting throughout - built in refrigerator - subway tile backsplash - weaving in new hardwood with existing hardwood floor (you can hardly tell 50 year old floor from new) - new ceiling (removed old popcorn ceiling) Jeff and his team always left our place very clean. All subs were very friendly and professional as well. The subs including, designer, electical, plumbing, structural engineer, painter, tile, flooring, all did an exceptional job. The reno couldn't have went better. We absolutely love our new kitchen.

Our experience with Jeff and Elvis was great. Jeff made the estimate process very easy, and we were immediately comfortable with him. To save money we chose to do the demolition ourselves, and he was fine with that. Once we were ready to have the new tile installed, he was able to schedule us quickly. Elvis arrived on time every day, and was always a pleasure to have in our home. He was very receptive to all of our questions and our requests for tiny adjustments. He even turned his van around to come back after working most of a Saturday on our bath because right after he left we noticed some irregular spacing between the floor tiles. We can't recommend Jeff and his crew highly enough. They handle their business professionally, respectfully, honestly, and in a friendly way. Jeff stands behind the work that his company does, and in this day and age that means quite a bit.

Jeff was terrific from start to finish. He is unfailingly honest, a very hard worker, very professional, responsive and on top of all his subs, most of whom he has worked with for years and who were exceptional in their conduct and work. Doing a great job and keeping in close touch with the homeowner about what was going on was really important to him. He was midrange in price out of all the estimates I got and when he provided the materials, they were of good quality. Having worked for many years in this business and in all kinds of homes, he has excellent experience, which was important to me as I have an older home. Although we did not run into any major problems, I trusted his opinion and advice about how to deal with what did come up and he worked with me to help me stay within our original budget. He has great connections with reputable vendors and other resources around Boston (when I told them I was working with Jeff, everyone responded very positively and reassured me of his good reputation). He assured me at the get go that his main concern was that we trust each other, that I have a great experience all the way through and end up very happy with the results; if something wasn't right, he would fix it, even if it was months later. He was a man of his word. E.g., the back hall was supposed to be tiled with material I'd already purchased on clearance, but the floor sub apparently didn't get the message and continued the wood flooring from the kitchen right into the back hall. Jeff and I discussed the mistake and he said that if I decided I really preferred the tile, he would come back and redo it, which he eventually did with no hassle. When we ran into difficulty with my cabinetry, he was patient and reassuring that all would work out. His cabinet sub was amazing and spent the time making my plan work and look right and refused to cut corners even when I was ready to give up. He was determined to do the job right. Jeff never haggled me about money, and was very willing to work out a payment schedule that worked for me. All the subcontractors he used were on time, very professional, neat and careful about their work and respectful. Many of them had great suggestions on what to do. I would absolutely use Jeff again when I am ready to work on other projects in my home and enthusiastically recommend him with no reservations, particularly to homeowners with older construction.

Jeff Veglia did two bathrooms for us and I would highly recommend him. The quality of his work is outstanding. All the finishes and tile work are done with an eye to detail which makes the finished look extra special. The first bathroom was a gut renovation of a 1920's style bath. He recommended a new layout which improved the functionality immensely. This was typical. He works and talks with you to come up with best layout and design. Some remedial electrical work needed to be done for knob and tube wiring which he took in stride. The second bathroom was a new bathroom carved out of two adjacent closets on the 3rd floor. Again, he worked with us on the best layout and sizing of the shower Although the space is small, the final bathroom looks spacious and open. We had glass tile installed in the shower and his crew did a perfect job installing it. The whole bathroom looks clean, modern sleek because of the workmanship. Overall I will work with Jeff in the future because he is reliable, he's in constant communication on the issues, his price is fair and the quality is superb. Thank you

Jeff and his crew transformed our tiny, leaky, 1929 master bath, and we were very pleased with both the process and the result. We had several other estimates, one of which didn't seem to allow for any decisions on our part and another that implied we'd budget as we went along. Jeff estimated his costs but left the fixtures and tile open per our choices. When we asked him to ballpark those costs, he got it just about right. He warned that there were likely to be unforeseen issues--and costs--in such an old (leaky) bathroom; there were fewer issues than I had anticipated, and he and Dan strove to solve them with the least cost and disruption. They even had the inspector in for a consult so there would be no problems down the road. Jeff's crew was great--all were very nice, professional, and prompt. It was clear they took pride in their work and in doing it right with a minimum of disruption to us, including cleaning up every evening . Elvis even came by on a Sunday to fix something that wasn't quite right. Jeff responded quickly to e-mails and phone calls, and came by for problem-solving when needed. He made some suggestions that I was at first reluctant to follow, but we are glad we eventually gave in; they were clearly the right way to go. We got great service at the plumbing supply place Jeff suggested, but when they couldn't get a vanity that would fit the space, Jeff had it custom made at a reasonable price. When we found it hard to negotiate our way around the choices at the tile supplier, Jeff met us there and helped us choose and order--and again his suggestions were great. Of course there were some glitches, but they were resolved quickly and in a pleasant, friendly way; and the job did take longer than expected (partly due to snow storms and manufacturer's packaging errors). We would certainly recommend Jeff and use him again.

I was very happy with the work that Jeff did in my condo. Now that it's finished, I think the results speak for themselves and everything looks great. All the vendors Jeff referred me to were easy to work with and responsive, and Jeff is great about taking care of things in a very timely and professional manner. I'm not sure I even had one headache throughout the whole process, which took several months from start to finish. The finished product is of very high quality and every small detail seems to have been attended to. Jeff is not the cheapest contractor I contacted, but I went with him on the the theory that you get what you pay for, and I'm sure now that was the correct decision. Overall, everything turned out great and I highly recommend Jeff to anyone.

We had used Jeff earlier for bathroom remodeling and were pleased to do so again to redo our basement floor. Jeff came and measured the floor, gave us a quote and we decided to move ahead with the project. Shortly after Jeff called to inform us the tile we picked was back-ordered and would be delayed about 4 weeks. During that time Jeff was able to move forward, as the carpet was removed, the paint stripped from the underlying floor, and the walls painted. Once the tile came in the work continued - the tile was installed. The only catch on the project was that the initial estimate of tile was off slightly and the contractors ran out. Not a huge deal - it wasn't back-ordered any longer and Jeff's guys went and got what they needed to finish the project. This did, naturally, increase the cost from the initial estimate but was certainly reasonable. Shortly after the tile was done the one wall where some built-ins had been was fixed up and repainted. The basement looks great; we're extremely pleased with the quality of the work and would definitely use Jeff again in the future.
Description of Work: Rip out carpet in basement (~850 sq ft); strip paint on underlying concrete floor; tile/grout floor. Repaint walls. Also removed two built-in benches and patched wall where built-ins had been.

Hi (deleted member name), Sorry, I missed getting back to you on the last email we exchanged. I get a number of emails and phone calls a day for work. I try to stay on top of everyone and I may miss one after we have been going back and forth a few times, nothing I would ever do intentional. I am very professional and very responsive if you read my reports. I wish you sent me another email, then I would of figured out I missed getting back to your last email. I would be more than happy to reschedule our appointment if you would like. Thank you, Jeff Veglia

It went wonderful. Elvis showed up to take some measurements, Jeff got back to us with a quote soon after. We used all of Jeff's recommended vendors and were extremely pleased with everyone. When the final inspection was done the inspector had a complaint about the water heater in the basement (which wasn't touched during this project) - Jeff's plumber took care of it right then. The attention to detail is amazing. Jeff thinks of everything and is extremely responsive, via phone or e-mail to let us know how things are progressing. Since we were doing two bathrooms, Jeff made sure the first one was usable with only minor items left before demo work began on the second bathroom. Our only minor complaint is the entire project took a little longer than we had expected (but, we watch a lot of bad home improvement shows where these things all happen in 30 minutes or less). The quality of the finished bathrooms more than made up for the amount of time, and we'd certainly rather have it done correct than fast. We would definitely recommend Jeff and use his company again in the future.

Got an estimate for a total bathroom gut and renovate. Very easy to schedule a visit and get the estimate. Very professional. Did not go with as quote was a quite a bit higher than another highly rated contractor. The one small annoyance was that the quote did not account for any allotment for new tub, tile, toilet, vanity, etc. so I needed to add that on to compare to others quotes.

While remodeling is never a pleasant process, Jeff Veglia and his team always make things run as smoothly as possible. We have worked with Jeff on many previous projects so we are very comfortable with his working style. His guys are always professional, responsible and conscientious. They are careful to keep things neat and tidy and they are very polite and respectful. They do top quality work and patiently address all the little details that are important to the homeowner. Jeff is the most responsive contractor I have ever worked with. He returns my phone calls immediately and stays on top of subcontractors to make sure everything goes according to plan. He is honest and forthcoming so his subcontractors enjoy working with him and always make room for his jobs on their schedules. Jeff also takes care of his own employees so they trust him and do their best work for him. Jeff stays on top of the budget to make sure there are no unexpected expenses. He warned us up front that the waterproofing and insulation would be expensive but we knew it was a worthwhile investment to protect all the finishes we were putting in the room. Jeff did not collect final payment until every last detail was completed. We have been completely satisfied with all of the projects we've done with Jeff Veglia and his team!
Description of Work: After successful kitchen and bathroom remodels with Jeff Veglia's team, we decided to work with them to remodel our basement rec room. They removed the existing shoddy paneling and doors right back to the concrete foundation. Then they did significant waterproofing and spray foam insulation to keep the area warm and dry. Jeff also brought in his HVAC guy to install an industrial strength dehumidifier. We worked with one of Jeff's cabinet designers (Cassia Wyner) to create an entire wall of custom cabinetry to house toys, CDs, DVDs, video games, etc. Cassia did EXCELLENT work and the beautiful cabinetry she designed is now the room's focal point. And she helped us find a cabinet manufacturer that could execute the design at a reasonable price. Jeff's team and subcontractors also took care of lighting, electrical, painting and other finishing touches. The room is now a very beautiful and useful space for movies, media and entertainment for the entire family.

Jeff is exactly what I was looking for in a contractor. No nonsense, get the job done guy who is also willing and ready to listen to our wishes and make things exactly how we wanted them. We had a couple other contractors come out for estimates, but once we met Jeff it was immediately obvious he was the right person for the job. Jeff gave us very reasonable time estimates and kept to schedule. His crew was made up of responsible workers who did a fantastic job of keeping our house clean during the work. The swept up the halls every night and really minimized disruption to our lives. Jeff also has excellent relationships with all the providers. Use his recommendations - from the bathroom supply dealer to the tile place, everyone we spoke with was easy to deal with. Our most difficult part of the entire renovation came from the one supplier we didn't use Jeff on! The stone people we used for our master sink were very difficult. So lesson learned - go with the people Jeff recommends. He'll make sure everything gets done on time. His pricing was about what I expected for the high quality of work done. Not the cheapest and not the most expensive. All in all it seemed reasonable. It has now been several months since the work has been completed and we are very happy with how everything turned out. Especially hearing other horror stories about contractors, we feel very lucky to have had such a good experience with Jeff. We have referred him to other people and are already considering other projects for him to work on. In summary - call Jeff Veglia for your renovation project.
Description of Work: Completely remodeled 2 bathrooms and built an upstairs laundry closet. Both bathrooms were badly in need of updating - they tore everything down to the studs and rebuilt to our specs. Jeff also was able to visualize the replacement of a hall closet to add more room to one of the bathrooms that other contractors had a much harder time with. The laundry closet was a complete build out from scratch. We had an empty space upstairs in the hall and they enclosed it and even finished the wall facing the stairs to match an existing hall cabinet area. It looks amazing and people can't tell at all that it is a new addition - blends in seamlessly. Very high quality work.

Our newly purchased condo had a recent, but badly botched bath renovation with multiple issues to correct. After speaking with several contractors about options for fixing the shower floor and the shower and bath wall tile we decided to to a full demolition and renovation of the walk-in shower and all wall tile. Jeff gave a fair estimate, was specific about what was included and what would need to be sourced, and was always very responsive to questions. Once the work started his crew was a pleasure to work with. They showed up when expected and were extremely courteous, professional and clean. The demolition was quick and the crew cleaned up very well. We started the job uncertain whether the shower pan needed to be replaced, but as soon as the demo started it was clear that it have been damaged during installation (!) by nailing through it near the bottom. This added expense, but the contingency had been discussed there was no fuss. The tile installation took several days. We had several decisions to make on whether to keep things pretty much as they were or to make some design improvements suggested by the tile installer. We went with the improvements and are very happy with both the design and the quality of installation. We had considered re-using the existing shower enclosure, but when I contacted the glass company I found that it had been custom cut to fit an out-of-plumb wall, and re-use would require replicating the exact angle, and wouldn't have saved that much money anyway, so we ended up with an all new shower. Overall, the job turned out beautifully and Jeff and his crew were a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Demolition: wall tiles, wallboard, cement board, shower floor and pan. Replace shower valve and other minor plumbing. Install cementboard. Install shower pan and pad. Install ceramic tile and stone horizontal elements. Paint non-tiled walls. Install glass shower enclosure.

And Jeff Jeff & Elvis are two exceptional persons. They they a superb job for a very reasonable price. They even took many extra steps in repairing things we did not expect and helped to stay in budget and solve problems with the association. We will be using the company in the future and we highly recommend it. Thanks Jeff and Elvis Gio & Anto

This was my first major home renovation project, and I am someone who normally is too nervous to have any work done in my place without my being at home. Jeff and his crew put me totally at ease about leaving my place in their hands for over a month. Both Jeff's own people and his subcontractors were unfailingly reliable, punctual, polite, and responsive. They were very conscientious about cleaning up at the end of every day. Most importantly, these are all folks who take pride in pleasing their customers with the quality of their work. Jeff makes sure to put his clients directly in contact with his subcontractors and crew members at the critical steps, to avoid any misunderstandings, and his folks are experienced enough to be able to steer less experienced home renovators like myself who can't keep up with all of the little decisions that need to be made. I was not expecting to have such detailed discussions with all of his crew and subs - every single one of them! - but these consultations made a big difference in my overall satisfaction with the final outcome, and I learned a lot from them along the way. Two qualities stand out the most for me from working with Jeff's company: 1) Jeff's responsiveness and accessibility. I called Jeff at some really inconvenient times for him - including when he was on vacation with his family, and I once called him around midnight due to a minor emergency - and he was always willing to take my call and address my concerns. 2) Strong problem-solving by the entire team. Starting with Jeff's initial visit, I was impressed by the solutions and design recommendations that Jeff and his team came up with throughout the project. While I had a fairly clear vision of what I wanted to achieve, many of the design decisions that ended up pleasing me the most came from Jeff and his team. I would have no hesitation working with Jeff again on any kind of project that is within his company's range of services.
Description of Work: Gut renovation of full bathroom with walk-in shower. Structural changes included creating a laundry closet out of existing space, and adding new skylight.

Our demo was started last minute because of the leak below. Jeff and his team were in the middle of other jobs but managed to fit us in a few days here and there when they could which we greatly appreciated, they could have made us wait, but started the work right away and were very accomodating. It was a process with the insurance company of demo/approval/more demo etc and Jeff was there with evolving quotes and communication with the insurance company the whole time. Elvis spent many Saturdays at our place with his team working away. I was often at work while the team was at my place working away which I felt totally comfortable with, especially Elvis. The team was great with communication texting photos of the progress and asking for feedback along the way. I felt very involved in the renovation which was great. The team even made some really good recommendations. I decided to include a niche with glass shelves and Jeff made sure to get the glass shelves in time without delay. Elvis & the entire team was amazing, did such a great job and was a true pleasure to have in our home. We can't wait to have him back to do more work for us !!
Description of Work: We live in a 5 year old house, we have a master bath with a large walk in shower and separate jacuzzi. We noticed leaking on the ceiling below the bathroom, and that is when we called Jeff and our insurance company. Jeff was very responsive and worked seamlessly with our insurance company providing quotes and recommendations of what the problem is. Jeff was very honest and upfront that there is a good chance we would need to rip our entire bathroom apart which was very evident during the initial demo. The scope ended up being ripping out the entire shower, bathroom floor, and part of the subfloor. The vanity and mirror also was removed in order to rip out the floor.
Jeff was terrific. I had never undergone any rennovation much less of this magitude. He was a true perfessional thur every step of the way. He provide referrals to subcontractors if it made sense. He provided the experts when needed. He also provide great insight and advice when I was overwhelmed with the amount of work and choices required. Jeff's team was on time every morning. They were wonderful, clean, and professional. I was comfortable leaving them at my house while I worked and my cat thought he became part of the work crew! Every evening I came home to a clean work space. Jeff kept me informed on each step of the project and met every timeline (even though I didn't in some cases!). Overall, the project was done ontime, within the proposed price, with an ease i didn't think possible. I would highly recommend Jeff! Great work. Great team. Great guy!
Description of Work: Jeff was hired to completely rennovate my second floor ( bathroom, closet and 3 bedrooms). In addtional he did my downstairs bathroom and laundry room. This included complete demolition and rebuilding.

Jeff is fantastic to deal with and reasonably priced. Very easy to reach and he clearly takes pride in his work. He is the only contractor I have ever worked with who not only did what he said he would but did it on time, to exact specs and at the cost quoted upfront. Who could ask for more? We are thrilled with the results and enjoy our bathrooms immensely. I would not hesitate to re-hire Jeff or refer him to anyone looking for a bathroom remodel. Thank you, Jeff!
Description of Work: Jeff and his crew gutted and re-did two full baths including converting one tub to a walk in shower.
