I think the siding looks great, right now, but, my concern is with the longevity and durability of the siding based on the various issues I continue to find. It just feels like if these little things were overlooked, or worse, intentionally ignored, what does that say about the things I can't see? Are there proper expansion gaps? Are the nails hammered in too tight or incorrectly? Were the manufacturers required nailing patterns followed? Anyway, here is the list of issues I feel should have been completed as part of the $19,500 job. Minor, maybe, but again it's about trusting the work I can't see. I wasn't monitoring the complete demo of the old siding but it was obvious from the contents of the dumper that a fair amount of tar paper was removed along with the old siding and I was surprised it wasn't replaced or at the very least brought to my attention so I could address it. I fear this will cause issues in the future but it's obviously too late to rectify this. A large portion of my house doesn't have any protection under the siding now. On the list of things it's too late to fix, I find it strange that a professional siding crew would install the seams facing the street. I always thought and was confirmed when speaking with other contractors, it was common practice to make the seams as invisible as possible which means they should be facing the rear of the house. The wires for the cable/internet were never reattached to the house. I'm assuming the siding crew thought this was the job of the electricians but clearly, they didn't think it was. A few times a week we can hear them flapping against the house. The fence wasn’t reattached either. We have no floodlights on the side of the house now, they worked before work started, and now they don't. It could just be the bulbs, but it could also be an issue with the wiring, either way, I have to now break out the ladder, climb up 15' and find out. The back gutter drains directly onto the walkway we use to get into the backyard which means with the cold weather comes a nice thick layer of ice on our walkway to contend with. Not directly the siding crew but the gutter installation was part of the overall project I paid for. And lastly, probably the issue that annoys me the most because I see it every day and I know if it's not resolved it will cause an issue in the future is the lack of sealant around the wires and conduit entering the house. See photos. Not only does this just look sloppy (just a chunk taken out of the siding to allow the wires to enter) but without any sealant, water will just flow down the siding and directly onto the unprotected sheathing (see issue one). There are four of said openings in the side of the house now. Overall, not impressed with a company that has great reviews.

We hired Exterior Home Services with the recommendation of a neighbor and we were not disappointed in the result. They came during the current pandemic of COVID19. Workers had masks. Work was neatly completed in one day. They did a great job. Communication with Brian was always easy and we were given a fair price. In fact, we are now going to be installing a new skylight with them too!

We hired Exterior Home Services on a recommendation from a neighbor to replace the front half of our roof (the back half had already been been done in recent years). They were happy to take on the partial job and did good quality work at a very fair price. We would certainly hire them again.

I spoke to several roofing companies, and had quotes from two other companies before going with Brian at Exterior Home Services. I knew after our first meeting that he would do the job we wanted done and complete the work at a fair price. We knew our roof was not installed properly (told to us by another contractor fixing some issues at our house), when the house was built. No other roofing company was willing to do the work we wanted done (like pulling the siding where it met the roof), to check for potential problems except Exterior Home Services. Even though it was an additional cost to us, we also wanted Grace Ice and Water Shield installed the first 6 feet and around the problem areas of our roof. Other roofing companies told us if we did this it would make the roofing warranty null and void. We also couldn't seem to find a roofing company that offered additional higher grade shingle options. Not true with Brian -- our roofing warranty is in place and we were able to use a upgraded shingle. Brian made two trips to our home. First to scope out the job and then he returning with shingle samples so we could compare our top two choices before he placed the order. He really went the extra mile for us. The guys on his crew were at our home early each morning 7 am, and worked late 6-7 pm, for 3 full days to complete our roof. And, they took care to put the roof on correctly -- something that wasn't done when our home was build. They showed us when there was a problem and when a potential area of concern for us was fine. The crew did a terrific job at cleaning up the end of each day and getting those nails up too. So important for us with two dogs that go outside. The guys working at our home were respectful to us and our home. They took care with my landscaping and gardens -- covering my shrubs when removing each section of the old roof. I appreciate that extra step, and it's not something all roofing companies will do, but really should be doing. Exterior Home Services was the only roofing company that did not require 1/3 to 1/2 down upon signing the contract. When Brian said that, I knew he was going to be honest to deal with and really cared about his business and doing a good job for his clients. He's in it for the long run -- not here today and gone tomorrow, like so many roofing companies out there. Exterior Home Services did a fabulous job on my roof and gave me exactly what I wanted. Brian communicated throughout the entire project, visited the work site everyday, and was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend his company if you want a quality job done and at a very fair price.
Description of Work: Total Roof Replacement that required pulling siding where it touched the roof to check if flashing was installed correctly or not when home was build, and using higher grade materials like Grace Ice and Water Shield and a special order higher grade shingles.

Quality of the work was very good . I made the mistake of paying them based on the progress and quality. As soon as I paid him it took forever to complete the work and cleanup the worksite. Lesson learned: quality of work is good, but don't pay this guy until the work is done.

Exterior Home Services put on a whole new roof for us, updated the vents, and improved the flashing on our chimney, which was poorly done. Everything about the experience was professional, courteous, and top notch. Brian came out himself, gave the estimate on site, and then were working within a couple of weeks. It took the amount of time that they said it would, for the price they said it would (which was an outstanding price). In addition, they went above and beyond what they needed to do - they left the dumpster for us for a few days so we could throw in some drywall and carpets that we'd torn out of the house, and came back to remove the satellite dish from the previous owner that had been forgotten. We haven't found a single nail, shingle or drop of glue in the yard yet. The roof went through hurricane Sandy less than a month later, and not even a hint of a leak, so it looks like the workmanship was fantastic as well. They were a recommendation from a friend, and they'll be my first recommendation for anyone else I know looking for a roof.
Description of Work: The put on a new roof, added some vents, including a ridge vent, and reflashed the chimney for us.
