They asked for 50% down and I told them before the purchase I was not going to do that and they demanded it the day before the work was supposed to be done and that was not part of our agreement so I chose not to take part in the deal.

We live in an almost-100-year old house, and it had been recommended to us to remove the knob and tube wiring, for safety reasons. Karl came right out to our house, and he did a good job of explaining things to us. Very soon afterwards, he gave us a very fair and reasonable estimate, and we hired the company. The two electricians who did our work were Dave and Mike, and we cannot speak highly enough of them!!! They consistently came on time, and they always kept us in the loop, so that we knew what was coming up, and what to expect. They answered our questions, and came up with the best way of removing the knob and tube wiring - in sometimes tricky situations. They were particularly careful to do all of this in the least invasive way possible - and when a few holes were necessary, they patched them up nicely. They really seemed to care about our house (and us), and they went out of their way to do the best job possible, every single day - including a daily "walk-through" with us to explain what had been done, and a good clean-up at the end of the day. They get back to me quickly on the appointment, arrived on time, provided an accurate estimate, did a great job, and even did a great job of cleaning up after the fact (a big issue for me). I would absolutely use them again.

There was some confusion concerning what we were told would be installed as light fixtures in the basement and garage so the bill had to be adjusted to reflect the less costly fixtures installled. The one rep who was handling the answering our questions after the intial visit by someone else seemed to misunderstand what had been agreed upon during rpthe site visit. That person left the company and the original rep handled the final installation arrangements and adjusted the bill. The installers were on time and did a pretty good job of clean up, but they did put items in my trash that had to be removed becuase curbside trahs removal would not have taken it. We are pleased with the finished work.

It was done correctly, he ran into some blockage in the basement which took extra time (and $). I know it was unexpected but it just ran up the cost. He cleaned up after the job and even took off his shoes as not to drag in dirt.

The visit was a great success and a huge help. Jim arrived on time and got right to work. He respected the timing of the Angies Deal and helped to make sure that both projects could be completed in the time frame. He went above and beyond and picked up an item for us and brought it back on his way home. The installation itself is excellent. The experience was so good that we asked Jim to give us an estimate for a larger project on the second floor of our house. He provided a fair estimate that same day and we are most likely going to call them back to perform the work when it cools down this fall.

I should note that the above price includes a neighbor discount, since Jack lives next door to me. Now living alone, I didn't want to have to deal with blown fuses anymore, so arranged to have the old fuse box removed and a breaker box installed. Jack's workman was efficient, removed the box and installed the new one with a minimum of disruption and I had a new breaker box within a few hours. I would recommend Jack not because he is a neighbor, but that he is a reliable, efficient, reputable businessman.

I have been using JPMcCurdy Electrical Services for all my electrical work for more than a dozen years. This project started when I decided to remove a wall between two under-used 3rd floor bedrooms to create a family room. As my contractor was removing the wall, his crew found knob and tube wiring. I called Jack McCurdy, and that afternoon he and Karl came to assess the situation. They determined that the two knob and tube circuits webbed throughout the whole house from the attic to the basement and needed to be removed and replaced. Jack showed me dry and brittle wires in the exposed wall that had been pieced together with electrical tape 100 years ago. It was a fire situation ready to happen if the circuits were overloaded. The following Monday, electricians Dave and Mike arrived on time. For the next six days, they meticulously and methodically removed the old wiring, including 22 receptacles / switches / light fixtures and their work boxes, and replaced them with new. They snaked new wires throughout the house without damaging any of the ceiling or wall plaster except in two places where there was no alternative route. They were apologetic, but I said that the plasters could easily fix them when they plaster the new room. They also installed two new electrical circuit panels in the basement and ran new wiring for the electrics, smoke detectors, cable, and telephone for the new 3rd. floor room. It's always a pleasure to deal with companies I trust for their high level of workmanship, customer service, and friendly employees who take pride in the work they do. JPMcCurdy Electrical Services is such a company. I like that after every service, they follow up with a and quot;thank youand quot; email to check that everything was done to my satisfaction. All went well with the installation of both outlets. The electrician had seamlessly located outlets to piggy back from inside.

Amazing, top-notch service in every aspect one could hope for of an electrician! First, he was on time. He also called from the truck to advise he had arrived as we planned for an early 7:30am start time. John was polite and professional. After carefully removing all the parts from the box, he discovered a part was missing. He noted that the box, which I had purchased the night before from Home Depot, appeared to have been retaped up. I was so very disappointed as I was expecting company for a special event, a "meet the author and book signing" to be held the next night and wanted the ceiling fan up and running due to warmer temperatures. I figured, for certain, I'd be charged an additional fee to my discount coupon for a return trip, whenever that would be. But, hearing about the party, John offered to come out early the next morning and take care of it for me, prior to the event, and there was no extra charge even though he was located on the North Shore and I on the South Shore! He said it was important to JP McCurdy Electrical Services that they have happy customers. True to his word, he was on time once again very early the next morning to install the newly exchanged overhead ceiling fan. I told several of my friends and neighbors and everyone was quite impressed that he returned to help me. And, because of this great service and expertise, I hired him to return in a few weeks --- at regular price --- to install a new ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. And, I'm gladly passing out this business cards to all my friends! I won't hesitate to call McCurdy's again for future electrical work.

Our 50-unit condo building had an old FA system that is in desparate need of repair. Karl from McCurdy worked hard with condo association trustees to find replacement for the discontinued panel and sucessfully restored all the zones. Despite some mis-communication and trial and error early in the process, Karl/McCurdy stepped up to the challenges and came back several times to get the system up and running. Their fiscally responsible approach and willingness to work with condo trustees separate them from others we interviewed. Overall a positive experience and will certainly consider them for future needs.

Very good service overall. Always responsive and answered the phones when I called. They were quite busy when I was setting up the service. As a result there was some confusion in the office on getting the quote prepared. Everyone was helpful and courteous, but when John got involved everything went very smoothly. I was under a deadline to get the work completed and they were very accomodating despite their busy schedule.

Our ceiling lights in the dining room and the family room were broken, so we bought ceiling lights and we first tried to replace by ourselves, howeer, the electric wire looked very old and we didn't want to mess it up. We foud the deal ($111 for two hours of electrical work), so we first called to see if two hours are enough to replace two ceiling lights and we purchased the deal. The appointment was made through the phone and it went very quick and easy. We both work, so we wanted to have the work done in the morning, so we made an appointment at 7am, however, John even came earlier than that (which worked well for us) and started on working very professionally. He was very efficient and actually finished replacing two lights in less than 1.5 hour. So, we asked him to check the light switch in our child's room, and he quickly fixed it too. We were very happy for the result and his pleasant professionality. We were able to leave for work at our normall time that morning. If we have any electrical problem in the future, we'll ask him again!

John O'Brien was the Master Electrician who came out to look at everything. It was a really extensive and tough job because it was an older, customized unit. They had to trace all of wires and locate the circuits. Three or four electricians competed most of the work in the first day. However, because of the complication of the job, John came back the next day to finish up what they were unable to on the previous day. It was great! They are a good outfit and everything went well.

I scheduled with them for 8:15 am. They did not show up or call. I called them at 9:15am, got a lot of sorries and rescheduled. I was upset that they did not take it upon themselves to call ahead and let me know that they were not going to be able to make it that day. Again I scheduled them a week later for 8:15am. Again, I took the day off work. Again at 9:15 I called the company, after they had not shown up, and was told they'd put a call out to them to call me. I did not get a call. I called again at 10am, same thing. By 10:20am, I just called back and cancelled. Will not be scheduling with them again.

It went very well and they were very cordial. They work was excellent. They were very knowledgeable. They had the work done in no time.

My wife was home and they did the inspection as scheduled.

The electrician was very competent, professional, and quick. The two light fixtures are working perfectly. I have not tested the outside outlet yet, but he did and it was working. I would use this company again without any reservations.

Met to gather info for a quote. Promised 2 day response. 4 weeks later had nothing back.

He came right away and fixed out bathroom light, he was great.

Completed project as requested.
