Description of Work: JP McCurdy did a geat job. The Angie's List deal was for an outdoor outlet to be installed for $125. The guy arrived when he said he would, and the installation went well. My other (old) outdoor outlet lost its cover (or never had one), and the JP McCurdy guy offered to attach one for free! Excellent! 5/28/13 update :) Everything continues to work well. Thanks again guys!

This is the second provider suggested by Angie's List that has not responded to our requests. Therefore, please cancel our subscription to Angie's List as we have no interest in any company/provider that you might suggest !!

Description of Work: I was unhappy because I was charged a permit fee on the day of service They must have know the fee would be required in Melrose before they came....McGurdy should have warned me about the fee prior to arrival... Also the tech seemed to be in an awful rush...and offerred more advice as to appropriate placement of the outlet.

Description of Work: J P McCurdy Electrical Services installed an outside electrical outlet on the front porch of my mother's home. I received a call from Doug McLeod in the morning of 20 Nov 2012 and he asked if there electrician could come later that day instead of on the scheduled date of 28 Nov 2012. His worker was in the neighborhood and had some time before the next appointment. The electician arrived on time and installed the outlet as a true professional. He knew his trade. While doing the work he graciously answered all my questions and was very friendly. Traits I look for in people I would employ. The entire installation took about 30 minutes. As an aside I would like to say that the special price was great but the company has to draw a work permit from the city and the added cost was $60. I know about permits and inspections especially for electrical work. Yet I think it would be better for us consumers to know about the additional cost up front. State the deal price but indicate in the deal that there is a permit fee which is extra.

Description of Work: We got the Angie's deal for installation of outdoor receptacles. We also had the electrician look at a couple of additional things while he was here. The installation of the outdoor outlets went well and we were happy with it. Not everything was exactly as they told us over the phone (on the phone they said they could do something, but then the electrician didn't do it/said he couldn't). The local permit, while obviously required, wasn't as clearly called out as we would have liked in the deal and when making this appointment. Not a huge deal, but just something to note. Overall, though, the quality of the installation was great. Electrician was prompt and responsive to our questions. Only note on punctuality... they were TOO punctual. The electrician arrived a full hour earlier than they told us. While this is good for some people, I had scheduled work conference calls around the quoted time, so this threw me. Again, it isn't a huge deal, but if hiring them, you might want to tell them if you are not available before their estimated time frame.

Description of Work: We had 2 new outdoor receptacle outlets installed for $125/each plus $30 for the town permit and $15 for McCurdy to get the permit. Total spend $295 and the electrician had the job complete in under an hour.

Description of Work: I had a power outrage in two room and three outlets. I researched a few companies in the area and asked a few people in the area and came up with jp mc curdy . I spoke to a very nice person told me that someone would call me back for the job. I had to call a second time. The following day got someone over to do the job and it was done well, ok, worth the wait, right ? Well , I was told what had to be done to fix the problem and that a receipt would be emailed to me. I had to call back again, really? I finally got a price, as far as a date, well still waiting.... Back to angies list.
