+ -1 moreTook a while to get the crew there, but once they showed up the job was completed in one day. When I say completed, that's a half truth. It is now Monday June 9, and the Calnan Company saw horses and orange cones remain on the unfinished sidewalk on Colonial Avenue. I've played phone tag with John and actually talked to him over a week ago, when he promised it would be finished. Still Waiting!
Description of Work: Excavated side yard and sidewalk to replace main water pipe, and also water main shutoff inside house.

+ -1 moreBasement water proofing. And the sewer pipe repair involved digging up the old clay pipe leading to street where roots had grown into, and replaced with new pipe. Incredible work involved with much manual labor. Labor intensive. Workers extremely skilled and professional.
Description of Work: Cost is for both jobs. Interior foundation repair. Also sewer pipe repair leading to street.

+ 4 moreJohn Calnan and his excellent crew arrived promptly at the appointed time. They were professional from start to finish. Each worker is extremely skilled and have worked for his family-owned business for several years. John consistently kept me abreast of the progress of the job through sequential photographs of the realignment of 2 pipes at a depth in the street that I would never have been able to view otherwise. Given the amount of heavy equipment, the time involved, and the tremendous amount of physical work involved, the price was extremely fair. I would recommend John's work to anyone for a multitude of home-related reasons. He is the renaissance man of building and home contracting/construction.
Description of Work: I called Calnan Construction when the roots of the tree in front of my house grew through the water pipes leading from my house to and from the street. John's assessment of the problem was right-on, and his estimate was extremely fair which he honored when the job was finished. Given the amount of time, heavy equipment, and physical work involved, I was extremely happy with the cost of the job. John and his workers escavated the area, exposed the mis-aligned and broken pipes caused by the roots of the tree pushing through several pipe sections, and installed new piping. Then they completely covered up the area with quality concrete/asphalt (excuse the layperson's terms) that matched my driveway perfectly. John's professionalism and skills are unparalleled.

+ 0 moreJohn arrived at my home exactly when he promised, thoroughly evaluated the job, gave me a very competitive and very fair price, and then did more work than I could ever imagine. He was extremely efficient, and kept me abreast of the progress constantly. He even took pictures of the underground water pipe that had broken in two parts, then pictures that showed the new pipe in place. John has every type of heavy equipment needed for any job. His workers were complete gentlemen and have been with his family company for many years. He made a severely stressful time, so much less stressful, with his positive and professional attitude and skills.
Description of Work: Calnan Construction has helped me tremendously on more than one occasion, for small jobs needing expert knowledge, through large jobs. He has realigned my underground plumbing pipe that went out into the street at my former home, doing something that no other contractor would take on. At my current home, he has created a deep outdoor well that catches the tremendous amount of rain water that we had received last year, thus no more flooding of basement. He also pressure washed my gutters, and gave me valuable advice on what to do when my hot water burst.
