 + -1 moreThey are great. The guy that comes out to our place is extremely knowledgeable. We call him the mouse man. We had mouse problem and he has literally resolved the mouse problem completely. He comes out once a month to just check to make sure that there's no other problem and that's it. He does our entire neighborhood. They always give us an appropriate notice and they work around our schedule. They are really good to work with. I don't know enough about competitive pricing. His professionalism is so good. They really are on top of things.

He was on time to the minute and his follow up with subsequent visits was exactly the same. No pressure. Helped us make an informed decision and I have been certain I did ever since. They stand behind the work until the problem is resolved. Highly recommend. Cost was for a six month service guaranteeing that it will be resolved.

 + -1 moreI suspected termites and got a free inspection. It turns out we don't have a bug problem, but James was very thorough and searched outside the house and in the cellar. He explained the differences between wood rot and bugs. He was professional and friendly and didn't try to convince me I needed to spend money with him! I called Vineyard Exterminators, but the company is now caled A1 out of the same address in West Harwich.
Description of Work: I had some rotted trim where bugs seemed to live at one time, I called for an inspection for termites.

 + -1 moreI researched the system they used on the web and I saw that the US Government uses them a lot, so that really impressed me. They were very responsive. They will come out and monitor for two years to check whatever they put on the lawn. They do have the best system and they explain the whole thing so that you could understand. They satisfied me and I'm very happy with them.

 + -1 moreWe are pleased with the service we received and the problems were solved to our satisfaction. The exterminators were prompt and professional on both occasions. Since I had to work, my 77-year old mother was the one who spoke with them, but they were courteous, knowledgeable, and patiently answered her many questions. We had been offered an annual service contract, but we politely declined and were not pressured to reconsider our decision.
Description of Work: On May 6 we had them come to remove a hornet nest at the roof line, about 30 feet up. The man also went into the attic crawl space and made sure hornets had not gotten inside and built nests there. Then he sprayed the crawlspace. The hornets did not come back. We also asked him to remove a bird's nest that was in the vent pipe of a second floor bathroom. Unfortunately, there were young chicks in the nest, but the exterminator was very considerate and did his best to place the intact nest with chicks in a safe place away from the house. He then covered the vent with screen, but the mother bird kept picking at it with her beak and eventually managed to get back inside and start building another nest. On May 23 a different man came out and he a cap or new screen over the vent and we had no more problems with birds in the vent. There was no charge for the second visit.

 + -1 moreWe started to use them for pill bugs/damp bugs. This problem has nearly been eliminated. We then called about mice and they set and check bait stations, look for points of entry etc. The service tech Bill is quite knowledgeable and entertaining!
Description of Work: This company continues to monitor for an annual fee and will come whenever you need them.

 + -1 moreOur price is 45/month to keep a number of rat control stations rebaited. Their technician is always friendly, prompt and professional. Price could possibly be better and at one point we lost some traps (in a wild area adjacent our yard). When we found them later, they did not take them back, etc. Minor issue. The rodent control seems to be working (we live near the water and have a lot of rocks in our landscaping)--no complaints. I'd recommend them overall.
Description of Work: Note: we have been using them on a monthly basis for years--before your calendar selection dates above. We had been noticing rats in our large yard near the ocean, we have a lot of open area that abuts our yard which includes a lot of rock gardens. We also feed birds, so the attraction is there for rat problems. We called a few providers and they came in and installed some traps that look like landscape rocks. Our goal was to eliminate obvious rat visitors and keep them out of our home. So far, we have been successful. They continue to treat our area monthly and provide updates about use of the bait stations.

Description of Work: James came to our home 3 days after I made initial inquiry to determine if we had a termite problem as I had heard a woodpecker drilling on our house. Over the phone, the receptionist reassured me it might be just a mating call. James thoroughly searched the house. Went in basement, searched the perimeter and attic.

 + -1 moreThey did get rid of the problem. More recently, we had rats that tunnelled into our basement so we called them out again. They went through the same process and got rid of the problem again.
Description of Work: They came once a few years ago and got rid of mice for me. They sealed up all of the access points and placed poison in places not available to children or pets.

Description of Work: I had an invasion of carpenter ants in a few sections of my big old Victorian house. They came right away and gave me an estimate. They were back 3 days later to do the work after I advised all the tenants to be out of the house for 2 hours. They came back again a month later when I noticed ant activity on outside porches. They also put in rat bait boxes because we have a rat problem in the neighborhood, I saw a dying rat on the street just that morning! I wanted to be sure to keep them away from my house. They come back and bait them every month now.

Very professional overall, but the estimate came in higher than others for the same system and did not include specific strategies for our situation that others identified and included in their proposals.

 + -1 moreWe have been very happy with A-1. They call in advance to let us know when they will arrive and are very thorough in searching the house for signs of infestation or rodents. We once had an issue with carpenter ants and they came our right away and used a child-friendly insecticide that eliminated the problem within days. Going the extra step, the technician then applied a foam sealant around all radiator pipe holes in the floors to further prevent insects from coming into the living areas.
