The men (several) arrived on time and began working immediately. Things went smoothly. Luckily the weather was perfect and things proceeded quickly. Bob hired an outside company to clean the major portion of the debris. The roof looks great and I am anticipating a winter secure from the ravages of snow and ice. Ninety percent of the job was completed in one day. Bob was present during the entire process. The only complaint occurred during the final day (day 2) when 2 men appeared to clean the back gutter and take away materials left behind. One of the men stated he had his girlfriend's car (should have had a truck). I supplied the nylon rope needed to tie some of the materials left over from the job to the roof of the car. A pallet was left behind ( it had been taken from the front driveway and placed in back of the house, under my deck so that I could not see it until after they left). I cleaned the back gutter myself (with my ladder), since they were unable to bring their own. I had to clean a good quantity of nails and some debris from inside the gutter. The fact that the 2nd day occurred on a Sunday may be a factor here. The front gutter had been cleaned the day before and was almost pristine by comparison (I took the time to check it using my ladder the following day). Overall I would not hesitate to have work done by this company. Again, Bob took the time (more than any other contractor contacted) to explain my options on his first visit and I felt he was honest and trustworthy in his approach.
Description of Work: Experienced a leak around a bay window during the severe winter of 2010-11. Also had major ice dams along roof edge. Saw evidence of ice forming inside the attic along edges (above soffit). Joined Angie's for obvious reasons before calling several roofers. Called many in my area with 'A' ratings. Robert Milliard was one of them. Bob came to the house with another person and had several suggestions. He took a picture of a vent pipe (which had been leaking also) with his camera phone and showed me where the flashing needed repair. He took the time to walk around the roof with his assistant, pointing out an area on the roof edge where water could gain entrance. I climbed his ladder to see better, with his assistance. He prepared an estimate for both a repair and a full roof job. If I went with the repair and it was inadequate, I had the option of having a full roof job done later minus the cost of the repair. Barbara (his assistant..wife?) is extremely accommodating and easy to talk with on the phone. She even arranged to have the job done on a weekend since it fit my schedule. She is a great asset to the business. The job was initiated 2 weeks from Bob's first visit.

Keeping it brief, they say they will call back within 24 hrs. I called a month ago; I'm still waiting. Have since given the job to another company who didn't SAY they'd call back within 24 hours, they simply DID call back (and within a few minutes!)

Bob and his crew did an excellent job. The company is responsive, always answers the phone and returns calls. The work was done on time, exactly when they said it would be. I could not be happier with the overall professionalism, price, and quality of the work. Kudos to Milliard Roofing!

Of the 3 companies that came out to give me estimates for my repair of my leaking chimney, Robert Milliard Roofing did the most thorough job of tracing the source of the leak. He was the only one of the 3 estimators to go into my attic to trace the leak. One of the companies--the one that had the most expensive estimate-didn't even look in to the attic. The estimate was done by Bob, the owner, along with his brother. Because he was able to trace the source of the leak, he did not recommend the shingle replacement to the edge of the roof and the plumbing vent flashing replacement that the other 2 companies wanted to do. This allowed his estimate to be lower than the other 2. The work was done over the course of one morning a few days after the estimate. Bob came out with a helper to do all the work, and was done with everything by lunch time. Overall, I am very happy with the work that Robert Milliard Roofing performed. The work looks professional, and it looked like he performed every step of the work well. 2 months later, there is no sign of a leak from the chimney, and the copper flashing is aging nicely.
Description of Work: Leaking chimney flashing was removed. Ice/Water shield was applied New Lead counter flashing and copper step and exterior flashing was installed.

We had ice dam damage this past winter. Bob came promptly when we called. He gave us an estimate for what needed to be done to prevent future leaks, and then came and did the repairs. This included replacing a gutter which had come down from the ice. We were pleased with his work.

I am very pleased with the work they did and with Bob's recommendation as to the shingles/ materials to be used.
Description of Work: Bob and his crew stripped two layers of roofing (in some places three), and reshingled the entire roof of my house, it is an expanded Gambrel Cape with an attached garage and family room. They did a terrific job, completing everything in two days and cleaned up an incredible amount of debris. They are very nice people to deal with, do an excellent job and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I had a good experience with Millard Roofing. I received a quote from Mr. Millard and the showed up and completed the work as promised. There were several long panels on my warehouse roof that were not correctly riveted, so he added rivets to the ones that looked like they might slide in the future, and repaired the pieces that had already slid down. A nice bonus : he took before and after pictures for me to see what the problem was initially, and then again after he had finished so I did not have to climb up on the roof myself. Job well done. UPDATE: Disclaimer: This update is not for the project listed above. I was so pleased with the initial job that Millard roofing had done that I had hired them for several other jobs which I did not write reviews for. This update refers to one of those other jobs. The initial grades I had given were all A's and clearly that is no longer the case. One job done ( balcony overhang repair on a brownstone) the end of last winter I thought had been done well, but recently the roof began leaking again IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT as it had been after a big summer rain. Robert had come out once to fix it, and once more a week later again when it wasnt patched correctly the first time, but evidently neither of those truly fixed the problem. Now I have ruined walls in an apartment and have to pay to have another company come out and fix the problem...which should have already been fixed the end of last year after 2 tries. I was initially happy with all of the projects Millard roofing had done for me, but after 4 calls and an email with pictures in the last 2 weeks and no response, I am over them. I dont know if they think I expected them to come back for free? ( I would not have asked that as it has been over 6 months since the initial repair.. in all fairness it might have been repaired and just recently started to leak again) The fact that they are ignoring me completely after I thought we had developed some sort of relationship is annoying to say the least...... Thankfully there are plenty of responsive roofers out there and I no longer have to waste my time trying to get some sort of answer back from them!

It went well. They were on time and were overseen by the owner of the company and it was done in a very reasonable amount of time. They did a very good job and got rid of the the ice dams also and cleaned the snow off the sidewalk after the job was done. Very happy with Bob's service. Would use them again

We were concerned about the amount of snow on our roof and decided to have it cleared. We have a 'sprawling' ranch with a gradual pitch roof so the snow had accumulated pretty severely. We looked up Angie's list and identified Robert Milliard's outfit as one of the closest to our house with a high rating. I talked with Barbara who was very polite and responsive to our request. She was very good about keeping in touch to schedule the job. This is important for me as I work about 20 miles away from home and wanted to be present for the job. A crew of three guys showed up on time and worked diligently to clear the roof. They also cleared the snow that fell against the windows from the roof.

I have used Millard before so called them when we started to get water inside from the ice. The quote was a bit high but since the previous work was outstanding, OK'd the job. A crew of three came out, spent an hour or so, chisiled some gaps in the dam and that was it. Too little for $700 I thought so complained to Robert and he came out himself the next day and did it right. He also reduced the price quite a bit. One thing I can say about RM is they are very response and will do what it takes to satisfy their customers. While this even could have gone better, my previous experience is very good and would use them again for sure.

We had an ice dam and water was leaking into our house. Barbara, who you speak with on the phone, was so helpful and friendly. When they quoted the price we thought it seemed expensive but we needed the work done quickly and they were available right away. Since we weren't sure what was involved in the process, we decided to go with them. We figured for that price they would definitely do a good and thorough job, especially since they had good reviews on Angie's list. They did arrive on time and appeared to do a good job. We were disappointed that they only removed the snow from the back half of the roof (where the dam was) and not the whole roof. Also, 2 days after they completed the job it rained and water leaked into our house again in the same spot. Also, now that we have had time to research ice dams more, we have found out that we probably could've had the job done for quite a bit cheaper, also by other reputable roofing companies which is why we wouldn't use them again.

Despite my best efforts, I could not get all of the snow off of my house. When I finally went to do my laundry on 2/3, I heard dripping in the basement. I immediately went on Angie's list to find a contractor, since I don't have a roofer that I know. I called 3 people on the list. Robert Milliard Roofing was not only the only one to pick up, but they actually worked with me immediately. Barbara explained to me that (of course) they had a back up of appointments due to the weather and number of people that had leaks. She scheduled my service for 2/6. As promised, she called on 2/5 to give me the time window in which they would arrive. They ended up arriving an hour early and had all of the snow and ice off of my roof in 4 hours... no more leaks! I highly recommend this company, and I commend Barbara for her excellent customer service, even though she probably gets hundreds of calls per day right now given this crappy weather situation. I did find the price to be high, but I always believe that paying a few dollars more for good service and quality work saves you from having do do it over again and pay twice as much. So, although I gave them a "B" for price, They still get a big "A" for the overall work performed.

After consulting with Angie's List I called the company and had a very helpful conversation with Barbara, who handles all the appointments. I was greatly encouraged by her demeanor and appreciated her thoroughness in asking and answering questions. She called back quite quickly with their quote range; while it may seem like a lot of money, we know that this is not something we would ever do on our own, we wanted a dependable roofer with a good reputation on Angie's List, and we feel it was appropriate given our love for our home, as well as the great concerns over impending storms added to what we'd already received. They said they could do the job midday Sunday (I called Friday) -- and kept us posted when their previous job detained them longer than expected. They set to work right away upon arrival and not only cleaned the roof without damaging it but also removed snow that came off, so that we could access entryways. Conversation with both Barbara and then with Bob and his crew was pleasant and helpful all around. I would not hesitate to call on this company for any future roofing concerns, and I recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: Ice dams on our gambrel house were creating interior leaks. Snow piled so high around house that even if we could have tackled it ourselves (which we couldn't) we weren't even sure anyone would be able to get to the roof to clear it. We needed the roof cleared and ice dams removed.

I read some of the reports that complained this company is not responsive but I thought those are just a few incidents, as most of the report is positive. So I called. I recently got my house offer accepted and plan to install a new roof prior to move in. Due to the snow and bad weather I am worrying about the roof condition of the house, so I decided to hire a company to do a roof estimation. I called this company in the morning of Feb 2 and spoke to the office manager, she sounds very nice, told me that they can do free estimation and they will climb up to the roof to do it (which is great as my home inspector informed me that he cannot climb on top of the roof to do a thorough inspection) on Feb. 4 Friday afternoon (I confirmed with her twice on the date as I was planning out all the "events" that will be associated with the roof estimation). She also told me that Bob was out for work and cannot get back till 3 PM in the same day afternoon. When Bob comes back, he will call me to set up a time for this work. I told her that I plan to install new roof and asked her what is the best time for this type of work. She kindly told me that the next 30 days is no good due to the bad weather and low tempeture. I feel that this company is professional and honest. So I did not speak to any other roofing company after this converstaion and trust that they will help me on the roof estimation, I even told my agent that I got a roofing company to look at the roof. All parties felt relieved. However, same day afternoon, after 4:30 PM I did not get any call back, so I called their office again, nobody picked up the call. so I left a voice message and ask them to call me back to confirm the time for the inspection. I figure maybe they are really busy so I can wait till next day. Feb 3, no calls. So I sent out an email.......till tonight (Feb. 4 Friday) I still have not received any notice or calls. Because I did not communicate with other roofing company for estimation now I am stuck-- I have to find another company to do the roofing inspection, I do not think due to the short notice, any roofing company can help me. This whole experience confirmed other people's complaints about this company's non-responsiveness. I do not take a "no" anwer as an offense as I understand all roofing companies might be busy working these days BUT if you promised, you should deliver. Other than ignoring your customer, and puting your customer into a difficult position. I see a pattern of over-commitment and under-delivery for this company. very disappointing.

Robert performed his tasks well, and seemed especially knowledgeable re: all types of roof repairs. He drew to our attention some problem areas around the chimney where water had begun leaking through some broken flashing, which had not yet leaked into our plaster ceiling. He also showed us where other areas of slate and flashing had broken off on the back side of the house, which can only be seen when on a ladder. Best of all, Robert guaranteed his work for 1 year. During the spring rains, our roof began leaking again, and Robert came twice more to further repair the leaks at no extra charge. We would certainly recommend him and his services to everyone with leaking roof problems.
Description of Work: Robert and his helper replaced the slate pieces that had broken off from our roof. He also replaced flashing that had broken off and had created leaks in several areas of our ceiling. He gave us the option of using either tin or copper, both of which are acceptable repair materials. Although the copper cost more than twice the price of the tin, we opted for using copper, which was more expensive, but more durable.

Had them come out for an estimate for installation of gutters and for reflashing of chimneys and roof vent. Bob Milliard and his brother were at the house a couple of hours, during which they cleaned and resealed three leaking Velux skylights, fixed misapplied flashing, and repaired several places where the roofing needed attention. They were conscientious, helpful and repaired an additional disconnected gutter at no additional cost. Their work has apparently solved the leaks, which have not reappeared after numerous rains since they were here.

Service was incredibly prompt. Bob came by for an estimate about a day or two after I called, and the work was scheduled & performed almost immediately after I accepted the bid. Barbara, who made all the scheduling arrangements, was very pleasant and accommodating. The bid itself was the lowest I received. The roofers did the job quickly and were unfailingly polite. Clean up was efficient, aside from a few leftover crumbled bricks in the driveway gravel. The overall quality of the job seems very good, though I won't know for certain until we get some rain!
