First, let me say that Barbara (Robert's wife) is fantastic. She is extremely responsive and spent time on the phone with me and answered all of my questions from the types of materials used to the schedule of when the work would be complete. The price is also very reasonable for the quality materials that they use. The roof came out beautifully. There were a few minor issues (I found a few nails on the property after the work was done, the flashing underneath the dormer windows was cut a little uneven, as was some of the shingles on one part of the side of the house) but overall I was very happy with the work. However, I left off the best part of working with Robert. On the original weekend that Robert was scheduled to come out to do the roof, the Boston area was supposed to be hit with a hurricane. Robert knew that I had problems with leaks in a few areas of the house, and although he had to cancel the roofing job due to the hurricane, came out on his own and put Tyvek up in the places where I had mentioned I had seen leaks. I was able to get through the hurricane without problem, and the next weekend Robert was out and did the job.
Description of Work: Robert Millard replaced my entire roof of my two story cape house (approx. 1450 sq. feet), and also singled over my existing roof on my detached garage.

Firstly, it was an absolute pleasure dealing with Barbara. She promptly responded to our initial inquiry and each time I reached-out to her thereafter. She was available by phone and text message. She is a real asset to their company. I described the problem to Robert when he arrived to evaluate the roof a few days later. Barbara then provided a verbal estimate for the repairs. I agreed to the price thinking we were agreeing that RMR would repair the leak in the roof. On the day of repairs, I was unable to supervise when the two workers arrived. This resulted in the workers replacing shingles for a section of roof that did not require replacing. More importantly, the neglected the area I identified as needing repairs. After informing Barbara the roof still leaked and showed no improvement, Robert dispatched roofers again to replace shingles and lay I&W in the area suspected to be problem. While the amount of water entering the house was reduced, the roof continued to leak. Robert himself arrived for the third attempt to supervise and work on the roof himself. In this case, he spent considerable time extending the I&W protection underneath a small overhang. Unfortunately, even after this third attempt the roof still leaked, though again considerbly less than when we originally contacted RMR. Efforts to have RMR return yet another time to patch an additional area resulted in RMR wanting additional funds. My overall experience with RMR was very good. Barbara was very responsive to my calls and texts and Robert made two good-faith attempts to repair the roof. I feel, however, that our agreement was to repair the roof, while they claimed it was to repair the area in question. As a result, I regret not getting anything in writing. Also, it's unfortunate that my experience with RMR was to tackle a very pernicious leak (a subsequent roofer has been unable to fix it as well), which partially soured the experience. In conclusion, I would enthusiastically recommend RMR to others, but advise they request a written contract detailing the work to be done (I'm sure this mistake is made by many a new homeowner).
Description of Work: We bought the house with a leaky roof. The previous owner clearly made attempts to have the roof repaired, indicating this would be no easy fix. We assumed the prior owner was successful, but learned shortly after moving-in to the home that that was not the case. We contacted Robert Millard Roofing (RMR) to repair the leak in our roof. In their opinion, this would involve replacing old shingles and laying ice and water shielding (I&W).

We wanted a small section of fascia replaced because it rotted only to find out whole fascia along back of house needed to be replaced. Ended up being more than the original cost. A bit frustrating because the entire gutter was off the house & the workers were there when this was discovered, with a $300 added cost. I'm not sure if this increase in cost could have been imagined & mentioned prior to quote, even as a disclaimer. However they were quick, professional, and even took satellite dishes off roof, left from previous owners, making sure the holes were sealed properly.

The ceiling started leaking again in the spring. I contact them and someone came out, he said he would come back and see if he could find the problem. I do not know if he has ever came back, because there is worse water damage on the ceiling. They did not fix the leaky roof, and they replaced the ceiling but since the leak was not fixed the ceiling is damaged again. The last time they were here was 3 weeks ago, and acknowledged it needed fixed however and I have not heard from them since. I have tried tried to contact them on many different occasions and have not received any return phone calls since. I would like to get in contact with them and get this worked out.

It seemed to be going just fine at the beginning, but when we saw the damage on the roof, that spoiled everything. The least they could have done would be to come back and repair it, but they weren't willing to do that. It should have been handled right away, but it was not.
Description of Work: First of all, when they were hired for the job, they were supposed to redo the roof because it needed repaired. They showed up, and there were quite a few people involved. For some reason, they were working, but not the way they were supposed to. There was a lot of unused material laying around. About a week after they were done, I started seeing alot of damage on the roof, as well as inside. I started calling them asking them to come repair it. They made excuses for why they couldn't come and tried to tell me everything was ok. But, the roof leaking and very damaged. They knew about it, but they didn't do anything about it.

Response from Robert Milliard Roofing
Mr.Milliard gave this member a formal quote for roofing to be done at the home he owns in Allenstown, NH, the quote was for all roofing work to be replaced except a rubber membrane roof way at the top of the house, this member was informed by Mr.Milliard that not only was the main house roof in deplorable condition but the rubber membrane roof way at the top of the house leaking and in need of replacement as well. The owner opted not to replace this rubber membrane roof way at the top of the house because it would have been an extra cost to him, so we never touched this rubber membrane roof originally, the quote for the main house and front porch rubber roof was $21,070.00 I received a call from this member telling me that he only had $18,000.00 to spend on the main roof and porch rubber roof(not including the rubber membrane roof way at the top of the house) I being the office manager took this information of price difference back to Mr.Milliard who agreed being a family owned and operated business to do the main roof and porch roof for this member for $18,000.00 Mr.Milliard and myself meet with this member at the home where he then took us on a long ride to get the deposit for the work and to sign the formal quote for the work, the member gave Mr.Milliard $9,500.00 deposit, with the 2nd half to be due half way threw the job of $4,250.00, this member gave Mr.Milliard $3,000.00 at the half way mark and told Mr.Milliard he would pay him the $5,500.00 at the end of the job and Mr.Milliard was reluctant to agree but had no choice with the roof open, so the work was completed threw all of the tenant fighting that took place at this home as well as the local police showing up because of the tenant fighting problems.when it came time for this member to pay the balance in full of $5,500.00 he had an excuse of not being able to get it and kept putting Mr. Milliard off and then just stop returning any of our calls, this member still owes the company $5,500.00 and has never even attempted to pay! As far as any damage he may be experiencing it all has to do with that rubber membrane roof way at the top of the house that we never replaced because this member didn't want to spend the money to do it, thank god we would have been out more money then this company has already been victimized by! Thank you for giving me the chance to rectify a wrong and demeaning remark and false and untrue review by this member!regards; Barbara Office manager for Robert Milliard Roofing.

The gentleman called me twice from some bar in mass to get the address, I should have suspected that it would not be a good idea to meet with him but I told him to come on in. He showed up with another person in tow and not steady on their feet, he did not seem to know what he was talking about and not professional at all. I feel bad in writing this for this company but maybe this would keep them on their toes in not hiring any contractors sorry, people need to know who their dealing with.

Response from Robert Milliard Roofing
In response to this members report posted on August 14,2012,I'am the office manager for Robert Milliard Roofing i take all calls and schedule all service and estimates for this company,I spoke with this member several times scheduling many appts. with her and she called back each and every time an hour or two before scheduled appt. and cancelled each and every one of the made appts. with her,Finally i informed her to call us when she knows for sure she can be around and we will schedule something that we know she will be able to keep as Mr.Milliard has many appt. and needs to keep filling his day 's and times accordingly as he only does estimates so many day a week.Mr.Milliard never meet with this member for her to be saying such defaming remarks about, obviously she meet with some company that may have shown up drunk but it certainly was not Robert Milliard Roofing as we are a family owned and operated company and we pride our company with great customers and most defiantly with our feed back from all of our customers. Thank you. Barbara ,office manager for Robert Milliard Roofing.

I called Robert Milliard Roofing to schedule an appointment for an estimate for repair of our leaking chimney. I spoke with Barbara, who was very pleasant, professional, and very accommodating in scheduling a time. In fact, she was great to work with throughout, as we spoke by phone and exchanged emails several times. Bob came to our house with his assistant Eric, as scheduled, and he took a look at our two fireplaces where the leak had been noticeable. Bob then climbed up a ladder to check out our chimney. While he was up there, he took photos to show us what he believed the problem to be. Additionally, during the site visit, I ask Bob if it would be possible for him to replace two long, rotted boards abutting our chimney. Our roof and chimney are VERY high, and although my husband has been replacing some rotted wood on our house, there was no way he was going to be able to reach the area to pull out and replace the boards. Bob offered to install our primed and painted boards for a nominal charge. The follow day, I requested an additional quote for a chimney cap. We received Bob?s estimate the day after his site visit. The proposal consisted of removing all existing roofing materials around the chimney; installing ice and water shield all around the chimney; installing all new flashing on the chimney; and reinstalling existing roofing materials all around chimney. He also gave us an estimate for the purchase and installation of a chimney cap, and a labor rate for pulling out and removing the boards. We are very pleased with our experience with Robert Milliard Roofing. The service was punctual and the craftsmanship was excellent. We?ve since had a heavy rain, and our chimney no longer leaks! After installing the chimney cap, we asked Bob for an estimate on some roof work. Bob and Eric walked around our roof and, at no cost, added some sheeting over a patch job my husband had done a couple years ago, and they replaced a shingle that a squirrel had chewed on. They did this on their own initiative and we believe it is a testament to their dedication to good craftsmanship. We really appreciate that Bob guarantees his work, and that at no time did we feel pressured by him for follow-on work. Bob is a straight shooter, and we enjoyed worked with Bob, Eric, and Barbara very much.
Description of Work: Chimney Repair: Removed all existing roofing materials around the chimney; installed ice and water shield all around the chimney; installed all new flashing on the chimney; and reinstalled existing roofing materials all around chimney. Chimney Cap: Purchased and installed a chimney cap. Wooden Board installation:Installed two long rotted boards abutting our very tall chimney, with boards we provided.

Contact Barbara was very responsive and got back to me right away. There was one day it took an extra phone call but they were having phone trouble. Isolated incident, totally no biggie, if you don't hear back just try again. Mr. Millard did a thorough quote, offering three different price quotes for different materials that could be used to properly complete the job, along with photos of the current roof flashing, recommendations, and explanations for each a approach. In the end, we opted to have aluminum flashing put in, but he had some leftover copper from another job and so completed the job in copper at no extra charge! He walked me through and took before and after photographs for me to check out and ensure i was completely satisfied (which I was). Cleanup and everything else was perfect. Thanks so much for exceeding my expectations!

Description of Work: We received an estimate on a roofing project that was not as detailed as what we received from others. The price appeared to be a bit higher as well. Very pleased with the work, both quality and expertise. The crew arrived when they said they would, was careful to protect the house during removal of the old shingles and installation of the new roof. The new roof looks great, including the copper flashing on the dormers. Excellent workmanship, good price, felt we got full value for the job performed.
Description of Work: First call was to fix a section of the roof that was leaking around a sky light. Based on good work replacing shingles on this one section, we had Robert Millard replace all the shingles for the entire roof.

Started calling roofing companies last week, 10 in fact. This is the only company that did not call back and I lett two messages. First time their recording said the call would be returned within 24 hours, the second time the recording said the call would be returned within 1 hour. It's been 5 days. Busy or not, if you are going to be listed on Angie's List you should be aware potential customers will be notified. I should have paid attention to similar ratings for the same thing..

work we had done was great. Bob was also great about being mindful of shutting our gate when he came and went (as we have 4 dogs). He is was very considerate
Description of Work: we had bob come out to deal with an ice dam. He did a great job...locating the issue, removing the dam and installing some copper flashing. We have not had a problem since. Recently we called for an estimate for some damage we had to the garage roof during that freak october storm. Although he came out promptly, we never did receive our estimate. Not sure why. This is why I gave them a "B" on some categories. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt (maybe something personal happening, or alot of jobs due to that storm and all the damage it caused). I would still try to use him again.

This company was a godsend to me. Most roofing companies only want to do easy stuff or whole roof replacement only. Millard was quite the oppositie: they were interested in servicing all aspects of roof repair and immediate service!! They agreed to do additional carpentry on my porch and finished with paint so well I had to look twice to realize they had blended the paint perfectly with the rest of the walls. They provided an accurate estimate and really excellent work, not always punctual (they had good excuses for being late) and but VERY professional. Diagnosed and performed repairs expertly, and with care. They found other things that were wrong with another part of the roof . The owner and secretary were friendly and informative about their processes. And, best yet, no sign of leaks that others could not fix for years!.

I called his office person, Barbara, who got back to me the same day, and Mr. Milliard was soon up on my roof taking pictures, then reporting the situation to me. The next evening I had a quote on my computer, outlining fully what had to be done. I accepted the estimate, and, before a week had gone by, the work was all done . I was completely satisfied with this whole process, my place was left clean and neat. It was a pleasure to deal with Barbara and Robert Milliard.
Description of Work: Since a new roof was installed by another company 3 years ago, it has leaked despite trips to repair it by the installers. I needed to find someone else , and Mr. Milliard seemed right. He and his crew spent 2 days removing shingles around 2 chimneys, grinding out the joints and old lead . He installed ice and water shields and tri-flex paper. He releaded both chimneys, re- flashed them. He installed a 2 inch mortar cap on top of the large chimney and new shingles around both chimneys. All work is guaranteed.

I called Robert Milliard Roofing asking for an estimate on installing heater wires on our roof. The appointment was made via the office manager (Barb). All communication was done through Barb. Bob showed up with-in the window ao time as promised. He got on the roof, took measurements and said Barb would call with a price. She called the next day with a cost. I had also asked Bob for a price to strip and reshigle the roof. Barb gave me a very detailed itemized estimate. She came out as schulded with a contract for the heating wire job. Bob and his crew came as scheduled and the job was completed to my satisfaction. Now we wait for the first snow to detrimine how effective they are.

Robert Millard was extremely cooperative in that he came quite a distance to give us an estimate on roof repair. We asked him for an estimate to replace most of the roofing and do some restructuring, which he delivered in about 3 working days. We subsequesntly went with smaller area repairs and particularly with some work connected with the chimney, which the mason performed himself. For the larger job, Millard's estimate was fair and his company seemed anxious to do the work, following up with inqueries later. I have no doubts they would have performed the job in a very timely manner if we had gone that route.

We contacted a number of roofing companies, but Robert Milliard Roofing (RMR) was the only provider we spoke with who could handle all three aspects of the job. A huge reason for having such a positive experience with RMR is due to Barbara who handles much of the customer interaction. Barbara was extremely competent, responsive and helpful from start to finish. As for the work itself, RMR showed up on time, performed the work and our roof now looks great. RMR says once you're a customer - you're a customer for life. They truely made me feel that way and I look forward to working with them again.

I needed to replace a failing piece of ugly lead flashing with nice copper above a small section of roof over my garage doors. They responded quickly to my inquiry, came out to measure for the estimate. We got the estimate, scheduled the work for the same week. They showed up exactly when they said they would and did an excellent job, it looks great and everything was cleaned up perfectly afterwards. Would definitely recommend them: a hard-to-find high level of responsiveness and professionalism even for a small job.
