Ken came and gave me an estimate and a start date. He was here exactly when he said he would be. He stripped all the wallpaper in the living room and washed all the other walls down and prepped them for paint. He ran into some "surprises" as he was working and without missing a beat, repaired or fixed the issues and was still done on time. He made sure that at the end of each work day, the house was cleaned so well, you'd never know there was painting being done! I am so pleased with his work, and would recommend his work to anyone. I'll definitely have him again if we have another need in the future. We now have a freshly painted home to celebrate the holidays in.
Description of Work: Ken did two rooms and a hallway worth of painting.

They are responsive. They were kind enough to answer questions. I would use their services in the future even for another estimate.
Description of Work: They gave an estimate for basement remodeling.
Before you read any further. If you need to hire a contractor to do any home repairs large or small, you need to contact Keith Kirchner at Oceanview. I will explain my experience and you'll understand why. -Initial contact: We found Keith on Craigs list when we were in a dire emergency. My wife and purchased a home in September 2010 and renovated nearly the entire inside. After the renovation was complete, we woke up one morning and found major water leaking in the dining area and bedroom this winter due to ice dams. There were many many other homeowners with ice dams and experiencing similar problems. Many of the contractors we contactedd were clearly exploiting the situation by charging up to $350 just to show up. Keith was aware of this and knew he could get away with the fee but chose the high road and gave us a very low hourly rate, showed up on time and offered his very valuable professional advice on how to handle this situation. My wife and I were horrified as new homeowners, had no idea what to do or how to handle things. Keith helped us thru every step of the process including working with the insurance company. -Home Repairs from Ice Dams: I was so impressed with how Keith handled everything that I asked him to help us with the home repairs. Keith demonstrated his understanding of what needed to be done and the best way to take care of the damage. Unlike many of the contractors I worked with, Keith stood by his word on each and every detail we discussed and then some. I explained that we needed to work within the insurance company's parameters to complete all repairs because we were exhausted financially from overruns on our newly renovated house. Keith was very understanding but willing to step up and offer additional help on items he could easily take care of that meant a world of difference to making our home a safe place. Here are some examples: additional patching of roof where insurance did not cover, original gutters where not installed properly so Keith proactively took them off and reinstalled without direction from me, repairing the bulkhead where water was entering the basement -Outside Roof: we have an addition that was put on the house by previous homeowner. The roof was originally installed improperly contributing to the leaks we were experiencing. Keith was able to show the insurance adjuster how the ice dam caused the leak and not the faulty roof installation. If I had to handle the insurance agent my self I woud be stuck with minimal repairs and a faulty roof that was living on borrowed time. Instead, Keith was able to work with the insurance agent to cover the cost of replacing the old roof. -Inside work: -Bedroom wall plaster wall and old installation removed, new insallation and new drywall installed, new paint for entire bedroom and ceiling. Keith's only needed to repair one wall but he noticed that the previous contractor's wall prep to paint the bedroom was terrible. I didn't even ask, but his workers took the initiative to sand, spacle and repair the walls and greatly improved the finished look. -Dining room: new drywall installed on ceiling, prepped and painted. When I came back after the new drywall was installed, Keith's workers proactively let me know they were not pleased with the finished look. You could still see some shadows from the plaster and areas where the seam was visible. They insisted on redoing the work and ultimately I was extremely happy with the finished product. While Keith was finishing up the work, I informed him of a situation I ran into with a plumber that was giving my wife and I sleepness nights. We are now homeowners in limbo trying to get our plumbing work to pass inpection because we had to release our plumber from the job because he was not acting in our best interest to make a long story short. The plumbing inspector now wants the new plumber to take on all liability for old plumbers work (contrarry to what the inspector originally told us). Now we're in limbo with no resolution in site because the new plumber bailed after learning that he needed to take on liability for all the major plumbing work old plumber completed when all the new plumber needed to do was install a stove. Keith felt so bad about our situation and decided to step in and act on our behalf to work with all parties to come up with a path to resolution. What's important to know is Keith's work was already completed and he received full payment. He could have easily wished me luck and moved on. Instead he's taken the time to meet with our inspector in person to discuss a plan to get final signature on open plumbing permit. I've found that it's rare to find anyone with this level of integrity and willing to go the extra mile. At all levels, Keith has demonstrated that he understands that his objective is to work on the homeowners behalf and best interest. There's so much more I'd love to say about the quality of keith's work and how honest, reliable and trustworthy he is but there's not enough space. Don't hesitate to engage Keith for all of your projects, you'll be glad you did.
