Abracadabra Painting

Bryan is a very professional and courteous business owner and has selected a team of on par equally professional painting specialists. He quoted us a fair price months ago as his season came underway and he kept us on his schedule despite this being a very rainy summer which added some time to his other projects. His team came everyday on time or even earlier (for instance one worker Nadia who is the detail specialist would arrive ahead of the team and start early) and they were the most respectful of our time and my children's schedule. They always put in a full day. The work was above and beyond our expectations. The quality of the paint job was seamless. They took their time and made sure it looked amazing and always checked in with us. Bryan would ask us how it was going and would really work with us on making the color and design choices to best suit the look we wanted. I feel like I got a new house and am truly in love with my home and the work they did. I would use them again for all my painting needs.

Brian's crew did a great job job. Precisely as outlined during our communication. Started early as requested and finished on time each day. Always pick up before leaving for the day. Brian constantly asked for input and assured that everything was going according to plan. . The lead painter Nadia kept the work moving . This is a very hard working and organized group, extremely polite and customer oriented. I would not hesitate to use them again. In fact we may use them again for some interior work. We give our highest recommendatio. Brian's estimate is exactly what he delivered and the cost was extremely reasonable especially in contrast to othe bids we recieved which were 3 times as much.

Brian was great to deal with, always kept us informed, and was very professional in every way. The clean-up during and after was excellent as well. We did some painting to keep costs down, and he worked with us on that. Some rotten wood was found on the front. It was very high up, and if he had painted over it, not let me know, and left with his money, I would not have known the difference, at least for a while. Instead, he informed me, so repairs can be made. Then, he has to reshuffle his schedule, come back later when the repairs are done, and finish painting the front of the house. I have no complaints at all, and would have him back anytime--though we don't expect to repaint the exterior for a long while! I am certainly glad I used Angie's List for a referral.

Bryan and his crew were extremely courteous and professional. Bryan would ensure we were aware of their plan for each day they were on the job and would follow up that we were happy with their work. Anything that required additional attention or correction was dealt with quickly. We were very happy with the results. I would definitely recommend him for any job, exterior or interior.

We had lots of rain interrupting the job so it took longer than originally planned. Our house is covered with cedar shingles. On the south side where the shingles are exposed to continual sun, someone,years ago, had replaced 1/3 to 1/2 of them. When they did this, they didn't prime the backs of the shingles. This allowed moisture to enter from behind and cause the old paint to bubble and peel. After the first coat of primer, this problem became obvious. Bryan had the crew scrape repeatedly and diligently to remove as much of the problem paint as possible to make sure the new paint job would be long lasting. He did this without complaint or request for additional compensation. After the first coat of the main color, the shade didn't seem to match the paint chip we had chosen. (We chose a chip from one manufacturer and Sherwin Williams matched the color. Bryan worked with Sherwin Williams and had them reformulate the color. Again this was done with no fuss or extra expense. Throughout the work, the site was kept clean and our neighbors were treated with respect. Bryan did a good job of communicating with us about weather delays and issues with color and the old paint peeling.

They said I'd hear in a week. Never heard anything.

The job went fantastic. The guy knew what he was doing. He worked very well. There was smoke damage, he knew the right products to cover smell, undercoats. Didn't leave a mess. They were friendly and stayed on task. Addressed all of my concerns.

They did a great job. Bryan constantly asked throughout the process if we liked it and if anything needed to be changed. They kept the worksite very clean over the course of the entire week. All of the employees were upbeat, hardworking and meticulous. I would hire Bryan and his team without any hesitation. That should be recommendation enough.

Bryan was very helpful suggesting alternative solutions and best ways to keep our costs down. He also worked around our time constraints, scheduling his work so as not to disturb our religious services and school year. Bryan and his crew have always been professional, courteous and responsive. I was especially pleased with his cleanup after the painting was complete. He made a point of checking in with us during and after the project to make sure we were satisfied with his work.

After comparing various proposals, we were most comfortable in dealing with Bryan. We wanted to "lighten" the color of our house, (stained cedar horizontal planks). Tough project because, in our case, the house had been painted with an oil based transparent stain that was breaking down with mildew. The house was becoming very dark. The original color was "Cedar". Bryan was very resourceful in providing alternatives. He contacted manufacturer reps. who visited our residence to view and ascertain the best options available. After various discussions and evaluations, we ended up NOT lightening the color, but using a different product which would essentially provide a solution to our problem. The house was "washed" and painted. The front entrance covered area was totally sanded; two coats were applied. The result was excellent. His team returned for touch up and follow up on a coupe of pending issues, which were promptly resolved. We are satisfied with Bryan and his team and would contemplate using his services again!

They came out and gave me a quote. The quote was very good but he had a lot of work and couldn't fit me into the time I desired. He did try to fit me into the schedule but it just didn't work out. He was very professional though.

I contacted Bryan Kennedy, the owner of Abracadabra, from Angie's List when I began looking for various people to renovate the condo my husband and I were moving to. Bryan immediately answered my e-mail and showed up to give me an estimate within a couple days. Over the years of getting work done when we owned a house, I learned that people who respond quickly and show up on time usually turn out to be skilled at what they do. This was true with Bryan and his crew of excellent painters. During our first meeting when I asked if Bryan knew of anyone who could manage our renovations and start fairly soon and within a short time frame. Bryan gave me the name of AJ Wheeler. He turned out to be an outstanding contractor, and I've praised to the skies on Angie's List now that the job is complete. I'll repeat here what I said in my AJ review: good people know good people. Bryan and AJ coordinated their schedules, and the painting went very smoothly. They both professional, polite, skilled, and happen to be outstanding men as well. Two of Bryan's assistants did most of the work, though one of my last sights of Bryan was him hanging off the tub as he did the bathroom grouting! Bryan along with Nadia and Tim, his assistants for this job, were so orderly. At the end of each day when I showed up at the condo, the paint cans were lined up, the brushes wrapped, the kitchen cabinet doors all lined up in order--no mess. Not only that, the crew did the baseboard painting after we had new wood floors installed. There is not a single drop of paint on those floors--not a speck! At the very end, when there were one or two tiny things that needed finishing up, Bryan came right back. I'll repeat here what I said in AJ's review, the client--that would be me--has to be organized as well. I made sure to have all my paint picks done before Byran's team ever showed up. When I saw that one of my colors didn't work, I immediately ran out and got another color. They were on a schedule, so I had to be as well. Very important: I had a typed master list of what colors went where. I also taped up big black marker signs in each room. This system worked perfectly, and all the different colors wound up in the right locations. So there was a partnership. I have to say, dealing with someone who's as business-like and courteous as Bryan adds so much to the experience. Both he and AJ made the renovations go so smoothly. We haven't moved in yet so I don't have photos, but our place looks gorgeous already. Kudos to Angie's List as well. I started with Abracadabra, which led me to AJ Wheeler and the electricians and plumbers AJ deals with. So thank you, Bryan. And thank you Nadia (especially for leading me to the final, perfect yellow for the sunroom) and Tim. It was a pleasure dealing with all of you.

Bryan was prompt and professional. Since I am an out-of-state landlord he patiently gave me advice and helped me make decisions over the phone without being present at the property. He also sent tons of pictures to keep me updated as the work proceeded. Bryan gave me an estimate soon after my initial phone call, was able to schedule the work within my desired time frame, showed up when he said he would and got the work done quickly. He was friendly, flexible and communicative throughout the process. I would absolutely recommend this company!

We hired Abracadabra Painting to paint our house based on recommendations here on Angie's List. We found Bryan a pleasure to deal with from the beginning. Bad weather delayed the project repeatedly, but the work was done promptly when it was finally possible to do it. Bryan impressed us with his knowledge and professionalism, as well as his friendly personality. He understood what we wanted, and he had good suggestions of his own to add to our ideas. Because our house is surrounded by gardens, Bryan and a coworker washed down our house with a diluted bleach solution, taking special pains to avoid damaging the plants. They did an excellent job. The finished house looks just as we hoped it would, and I have no doubt that we got a fair price.

Bryan had to figure a way to reattach the shutters with new screws and caps which were painted with the same color paint since the original holders were plastic and could not be reused. Now the next time they need to be painted it will be much easier to remove. Bryan used a special green paint which would prevent fading. It looks great.

The owner, Brian Kennedy, kept us informed of his schedule on a regular basis. Our 2011 summer was unusual due a tornado which caused damage in our and neighboring towns. Hurricane Irene and subsequent routine rainstorms were other weather events that influenced his schedule. Once the weather cleared, he arrived promptly, as scheduled. He and his crew were professional, conscientious and thorough. Their painting was more than satisfactory. His price was the lowest of four bids. Overall, Abracadabra provided a great value and a pleasant experience.

I contacted Bryan from Abracadabra with an estimate request. After a misunderstanding regarding phones calls, he came out and gave an estimate on all the work. He said he'd contact us when he was avaible. It took about three weeks for the work to begin. Bryan and his coworked came out and prepped the walls for painting one day. A couple days later, they came out and painted the bedroom one day and the kitchen and hallway the next day. For all the work that was done, they gave the best price out of several other companies. The work was excellent. They were very friendly, but still professional. I am very happy with the results and would definitely use them again.

Bryan was responsive when I made the initial call and came out within a few days to do an estimate. There was a minor delay in getting started, but once he and Nico were here they worked quickly and efficiently over a few partial days. The quality of their work is excellent, and I'm very happy w/ the finished product. They also took care to put my heavy furniture back in the right place, which made it easy for me to put the room back together. Great job overall.
