Bruce was wonderful, he came out to do the quote for us and gave us different options of what we could do. The quote was spot on, and Matt did a fantastic job with the install. Very quick, clean and professional. I couldn't be happier with the system, it was some of the best money I've spent.

These folks were great to work with!. Bruce came out and went thorough our new home and figured where vents and returns should be placed and quoted us three different systems on the spot. We chose the one we wanted. Sean came out with Tyler the review the work site prior to the work being performed. Brenda and Michelle were great verifying the time schedules etc. On the appointed day Sean and Tyler along with the electrician arrived and began the work - the attic had to be 150 degrees at least but the guys just kept working! They cleaned up every day and when they finished you would hardly know they had been at the house. Bruce did a final check of the work and went over the finer points! We are glad we put in the central air - we have had some really hot days!!!!! We highly recommend Nashoba Air and Boiler! Great folks!

I have an annual service agreement with them for my furnace and my air conditioner. They installed the system for me; so I've known them since the original quote, through the installation and the subsequent service that I've had. I've never had a problem with the system. The servicemen are always knowledgeable and they keep everything very clean when they come in. They frequently wear the instruction booties so they don't get my rugs dirty. They are very clean and very friendly. They explain to me what they are doing and answer my questions. I don't know what anybody else charges.

Went great. The guys showed up on time, worked diligently, and left the place cleaner than they found it. Office called a couple of days later to ask if everything was OK. Minor (and I do mean minor) glitches were solved fully, quickly, professionally, and without fanfare. Then a couple of weeks later, the boss did a walk-through, explaining the different components of the system, and likely making sure everything met his own standards. Thanks to Shawn - the boss, to Mark-the "work-horse", to the tech whose name I forget, to the electrician whose name I never got and who re-did my internet controlled thermostat and did away with the pain-in-the-neck external relay, and to all the guys for a pleasant and drama-free experience.

Working with Shawn and his team was an excellent experience overall. The initial estimate was clear and competitive. Shawn then worked with me on a number of different permutations (3 vs. 4 zones, with and without water heater, etc.) to help me figure out the different cost trade-offs involved. As a first-time homeowner, I was a bit nervous about replacing the heating system, but Shawn was patient and took the time to explain everything to me in detail. Initially the project was held up waiting for National Grid to install natural gas service; Shawn and Mark helped me get in touch with the right people to speed up the process and get the gas line and meter installed as quickly as possible. Everyone was great about communicating and keeping in touch from start to finish. At the end of each day I knew where the project stood and what was left to be done. One of my main concerns was how well they'd be able to hide the piping/tubing runs, but they did an excellent job while doing a minimum amount of opening walls and ceilings. At the end, there was just one section of exposed tubing that I didn't like. When I mentioned it, Mark came back to the house the next day and made the necessary changes to hide it. The guys made sure to clean up at the end of each day and then again at the end of the project. They actually left the basement much cleaner than it was when they started! Shawn gave a nice walkthrough of the installed system, explaining how the different parts work and how to use the boiler most efficiently. The final cost of project matched the estimate exactly. They also did a great job helping me with all the paperwork associated with National Grid, rebates, tax incentives, etc. So far I've been very happy with the quality and amount of heat from the new system. I'd happily recommend Nashoba Air to anyone looking to have this type of work done.

Overall a well done job by the service providers, Shaun and Tom provided excellent customer service, always calling ahead to give me their status. When the work was completed they didn't leave until all was explained to me. When you are dealing with gas, you really need to be able to trust those who are doing the work for you. The lives of your loved ones are in their hands. I hope I don't need this kind of work again, but if I do, I will not call anyone else. They earned my respect and my trust, not to mention every penny they charged.

would never, ever use them or recommend them. They take advantage of the elderly
Description of Work: 82 year old moms ac broke at the end of August 2010. Called Nashoba Boilerworks who charged an extra 100 dollars to come out at night, this is above and beyond their regular charge. Mom agreed to it because it was hot and she needed ac. They came out, replaced an evaporator pan, talked her into a $175 maintenance plan which essentially is an annual cleaning and left, total charge approx 600. AC still didn't work, they came back and told her the coil which was under warranty had to be replaced. The total for labor and freon was another 600. Waited until this year and called them to replace the coil.. First they sent a salesman to price a new system not a technician. Waited several days for a call from them with a price (they had all the notes from last year). After repeated phone calls Sean called back and now it was $957 to replace the coil, this is labor and freon only. He claims the freon is $48 a pound, I later found out the wholesale cost is $28.50. Then Sean said it would take 4 weeks for the part. Come on Nashoba Boilerworks if you didn't want to do the job you should have just said so. Unfortunately they took advantage of an 82 year old woman who was charged $600 and her AC still doesnt work plus a useless maintenance plan.

Our elderly customers are our TOP priority – they always have been. Last year, we were able to get the part quickly and ordered it – however, the customer cancelled it. This year, when the customer decided to move ahead again, it was during the heat wave. Local wholesalers were stripped of their stock. Unfortunately, we had to order it factory-direct from Texas and 4 weeks was the timeframe we were given. If we could have manufactured the part for your mother we would have – but we are at the mercy of the manufacturer. This past year, we have received multiple price increases. We just received notification of another one that affects all metal and refrigerant in 2 weeks. Commodities are going through the roof combined with the cost of fuel – many parts costs have increased more than we have ever witnessed. If customers could bring their air conditioners here – things would be a lot less. Please understand there is a cost to stocking trucks, fuel, etc. We are saddened that you are unhappy. Unfortunately, these were all areas beyond our control.

We contacted Nashoba Air through their link to Angie's List. We were called the next day and Leo came out and gave us his estimate. It seemed fair so we agreed. The heater was installed by Matt and Brian. Matt called before the scheduled time to let us know that they were on their way. They arrived exactly when they said they would. They were very conscientious to lay down drop cloths to avoid tracking dirt into our house. Both were very pleasant and extremely professional. They went right to work and continued without a break for about four hours until the job was done. This did seem a bit long since they told us at first it wouldn't be more than 2 hours. But they worked steadily and it wasn't a problem. They cleaned up after the work and took the old unit away. This was really a no-fuss operation from start to finish. Michelle handled the billing and scheduling and was very easy to deal with. The entire experience was the plumbing highlight of my day!
Description of Work: Our water heater was aging and we were getting rusty water. We went to a couple major hardware stores who said they could arrange for installation. We had one guy come out to look at the installation (after two reschedules to fit his schedule) and then told us we needed a whole bunch more work than he could perform. After messing around for about month we got our deposit back and were back at square one. That's when we decided to use Angie's LIst. Smart move.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the service from Nashoba Air - enough so that I signed up for a maintenance plan with them. Step by step: On Sunday, we noticed a burning smell in the house, after trying to track it down, we realized it was coming from the vents. We called Nashoba air, who has an after-hours call service, which sent our call to a technician. The on-call tech called us back pretty quickly and explained that it's usually a fan motor that's going. He said that we could wait a day, and if the smell was persistent or got worse, to call back. On Monday (which was a holiday) we had the same experience. The furnace would kick on, and it would stink in the house. Additionally, we would hear a scraping or creaking/groaning noise from the furnance. I called back to see what we should do, and the call service answered again. It took about two and a half hours to get a call back this time, and I eventually had to call back. I feel like the blame here lies with the call service, because the second time I called, I got an almost immediate call back, making me think the tech never got the first message. Anyways, it was the same guy as the day before, and he explained that motor was almost definitely dead. He said if we waited another day, we could avoid overtime charges etc, because we weren't on a maintenance contract. I agreed to wait the twelve hours, so we turned the heat way down so it wouldn't turn on so much. Unfortunately, it got down to 7 degrees that night, so it turned on a lot anyways. Our house reeked. On Tuesday, I called Nashoba at 8:30 in the morning, and their office staff answered - what a change from the call service - AWESOME customer service. She said the techs just got out of a meeting and someone could be at my house in less than 10 minutes! Awesome! She even told me that "Joe" would be coming, which was actually a nice touch. They were nice to talk to - a good office staff really matters. Joe showed up almost immediately (it helps that their office right down the road) and he immediately diagnosed the problem as a burnt motor. He could literally smell the electrical burn out. He took the fan assembly apart to get the part number on the motor, and then ordered one. He didn't have one in his truck so he had to go pick it up at the warehouse. No worries, he was back in less than 45 minutes. It took him about another 45 minutes to put it back together and tada - our furnace worked! Now we had to talk dollars. He explained that I could pay $675 for the replacement (plus the $95 diagnostic fee). Or, I could sign up for a maintenance plan which includes preventative service for $326 and then the replacement was $537 (and that $95 fee). What I liked most about the pricing was that it was all in a book and on a computer - it was a flat rate, so you know you weren't being screwed. It's written down, and always the same. We decided to get the maintenance plan. Joe said that we could have gotten the plan on Sunday, and the price would have been the same (since the plan covers weekend and after hours calls.) I wish I had been told that on the phone on Sunday - our house wouldn't have been so rancid-smelling. (Still working on getting the smell out.) Joe brought out a computer where he printed the invoice and took my Visa payment right there. Nice and clean. Very professional. So, overall the experience was very positive. My only detractors: 1. The call service didn't pass the second call on efficiently. 2. The on call-tech never told us that we could get a maintenance plan on Sunday. We would have just had it fixed then. 3. The diagnostic fee of $95. Since it was diagnosed simply by smelling - and then it was simply a repair. I understand that it's a flat-rate, and sometimes it can take an hour to find a problem, but I feel like sometimes it should be waived for "instant" diagnosis when a repair is performed also.

Shawn was extremely helpful, patient and knowledgeable in answering a long list of questions even before coming to perform the estimate. The detailed estimate and contract was sent very quickly by email. Even when I initially thought I would use another contractor, Shawn shared his perspective on several options for the oil to gas conversion.. After I rejected the other contractor, I signed a contract with Nashoba. Shawn actually informed me that, since my home is far from his base area, his price would be much higher than usual. Nonetheless, I was willing to pay a higher price since I was confident that Nashoba's experience was important for this large job. Since Nashoba is busy, it took a few weeks to find a mutually convenient week to schedule the job, which took more than one week. If your town is not one where Nahoba usually works, it is important to check ahead with the inspector for any special requirements, such as a new steel chimney liner that was required by Brookline. In addition, Nashoba's usual oil tank removal company does not remove asbestos. Since our old boiler had asbestos, we hired an asbestos removal company for the boiler removal, which was tricky to schedule before the new boiler installation. Once the installation process started, it was handled very professionally with the finest attention to detail to minimize future problems. Under the direction of Shawn and AJ, every detail was approached like it was their own home, and they cleaned up each day and at the end of the job, when they explained everything and even placed tags to identify different functions of the devices. The heat and hot water work great but I have some concern about the capacity of the hot water tank that Shawn has tried to address, so I will add a new post it this remains a problem. Everyone on the office staff is very helpful and responsive and they seem to know how to deal with the various incentives and rebates available from National Grid and other sources.

The tech showed up in the first half of the 4-hour service window and went straight to work. He opened up the furnace, vacuumed out the burners (and removed a couple of clothespins from my shopvac motor, courtesy of my 2 year old), and put it back together. He tested the gas pressure coming into the boiler and reduced it (it was too high). He also inspected the wiring box and repaired a wire with damaged insulation, and replaced another that was too short and hadn't been routed through the right exit hole. As he did all this, he explained what he was doing so that I could take notes and learn what we needed to do to keep the furnace running efficiently. The whole job took about an hour and a half and I was very happy with the results. We'll definitely hire Nashoba again for our heating needs.

We met with Shawn when we were initially thinking about replacing our boiler and water heater. He's incredibly knowledgable, arrived on time and was able to provide a quote to us right then and there. Unfortunately, our water heater ended up dying suddently. Shawn was willing to work with us on an expedited schedule, but we went with someone else just because they happened to have a spare water heater they could hook up immediately. If circumstances were otherwise we would have definitely gone with Nashoba Air.

Within a week of contacting Nashoba Air Shawn Kelley came to our home did a survey and measurements and provided us with an on-the-spot quote. It was the quickest, and best overall response of the 3 companies we contacted. He put together a plan that addressed specific needs related to the house's unique architecture and gave us the option to incrementally install the systems(conveniently and economically meeting both immediate and long-term needs). They were able to complete the initial install within 10 days - again the quickest of the 3 companies with whom we spoke. The install team did an excellent job and completed the work in one day. They were very professional. That would have been enough for us to recommed the company but 2 weeks following the install, we accidentally caused a leak in the unit, and the service team not only had a technician out to check and fix it the following morning, but also carefully coordinated that with our crazy schedules that day - much appreciated as it got really hot and humid that afternooon when we otherwise would have been without AC.
