I received a very thorough and professional initial consultation during which the consultant went over all the options for whole-house humidification, and helped me to select one that was appropriate for my needs. The consultant even discussed the need for careful routing of the condensate water out of the house, because, during a cold winter, any small vinyl tubing might freeze and back water up into the house. Having high confidence after the consultation, I went to work on the day of the installation, and let the installers work while my wife stayed home with our infant daughter. When I returned home, I checked out the installation, which, to my untrained eye, looked professional and clean. Unfortunately, just a week later, after the first cold night, I could hear the sound of water leaking in my basement. Upon investigation, I found that water was flowing out of the humidifier, through a small-diameter vinyl tube, to a small hole the installer had drilled in the exterior wall of my house. Water was leaking from an unidentified point along this tube and falling to the floor. I called the provider, who came right away, in the middle of the night. Upon inspecting the basement, he concluded that the problem was the pump that was pumping the water from the humidifier outside. This was the same pump that pumps the condensate water from our whole-house air conditioning unit outside during the summer months. The provider stated that because the pump was not installed as part of the humidifier, replacing it would be at my expense (which was OK with me), but that I would also have to pay an extra fee, above and beyond the normal parts and labor, because of the midnight service call, unless I signed up for an annual service plan. Since the service plan ended up being cheaper than the midnight service fee, I paid for the service plan, the new pump, and the installation labor. A few days later, I was again calling the emergency number for the same leaking vinyl tubing. This time, a different plumber responded, and, instead of blaming the brand new pump, he said that the problem was that the tubing was freezing because it was cold outside--exactly the problem that the consultant warned about, and had said that the could avoid with proper installation. I called the provider and gave my story, they agreed to come back and do the job correctly this time, and not to charge me for the labor to correct their mistake during installation. They refused to refund the cost of the new pump or the labor to install it, because they claimed that the old pump would have failed eventually anyway. I wasn't entirely happy, but I didn't feel like arguing anymore. To date, I have had no issues with the humidifier, but, recently, when I had another plumbing service doing work in my kitchen, that plumber noticed how the humidifier was hooked up--with a drain line running into a hole drilled in the PVC pipe that is the main sewer line out of my house, a clear code violation, according to this plumber. I would not recommend Nashoba Air and BoilerWorks to others.

We were recommended by a Mass Energy Auditor back in March to have our furnace serviced. We had this work done by Nashoba Air and BoilerWorks and were advised that we needed a new furnace. Shawn Kelly came a few days later and immediately gave me a quote and start date. Due to delays on the part of Mass Energy we did not receive our loan until recently and we booked Nashoba Air to do the work. Dave and Joe arrived promptly at 8:30. They were polite, exceptionally neat and clean and other than the tangible fact that we have a new furnace you would never even know that they were here! Very impressed with their work and would definitely hire and recommend Nashoba Air and Boilerworks again. I would also like to add that their office staff, Brenda and Michelle, are also lovely with exceptional communication skills. This is a great company.

We installed high efficiency gas and AC through the Mass Save program. Was impressed with Nashoba right off the bat. They were very helped throughout the entire process from estimate through working with mass save to the install, etc. The team was very professional and we were very happy. My only complaint is that there were a few lingering follow up items that took a long time to get coordinated and scheduled. However, whenever I had an issue, I heard from the owner directly and they were very accommodating.

Strange interview. Contractor was quite concerned about other bids I might be getting, and had to tell me in length about problems he thought we'd have. I had not given any details about any other bids to cause this. It was hard to get him back on track to give me an estimate; although I did appreciate knowing what he didn't feel his company could do. This estimate was over my budget; range of possible features, but around $20K+. Quote was very detailed.

We wanted to switch from oil to gas and get central AC installed in our ranch house with full basement, also wanted to reduce space taken up by the systems in the basement. Shawn came out and worked with us to determine what was possible and what made sense and came up with a solution that exactly met our needs, qualified for a boatload of rebates through MassSave, tax and manufacturer's rebates, and also qualified 100% for a HEAT loan (state-sponsored interest-free loan for 7 years). Their pricing was not the cheapest but they more than made up for that with their professionalism and hassle-free service (hence the A-rating on price). Since the installation included converting to gas, there were a lot of moving parts to coordinate between town inspection and gas provider. Nashoba managed it so that we were never without hot water (we didn't need heat anymore since installation took place in spring). The work started as promised, because of difficult working circumstances in the attic it took a little longer than expected but all the work was completed within a very reasonable time frame (about a week) and the very few issues that arose were taken care of immediately. Responsiveness was excellent, staff was very friendly and professional, and the end result is exactly what we wanted. Nashoba's office staff was very responsive and even helped us with all the paperwork for rebates. We warmly recommend their services without reservation.

We requested an estimate and got a return call the same day to schedule a visit. Shawn came to the house, explained the options, and gave his opinion on the best a/c option for us. He provided a detailed estimate at that time. There was no sales pitch, just a very easy meeting. We decided to go with Nashoba after getting one other estimate-same price, but we liked Shawn better. We waited until there was about to be a heat wave before scheduling the job, so we had to wait a few weeks for an installation date. We should have known better. The communication before the installation was very well organized and professional-phone and mail contact. The installers arrived on time on the date of service. My husband stayed home and said they were very nice and professional. They did a great job of working around a fit issue in one of the rooms and seemed to be committed to doing the best installation possible. They finished the job in one day and were on their way. We have an amazingly cool house and are so happy. The only minor issue was with clean up. I did have to vacuum up the plaster mess when they left, but this was a very minor issue in an otherwise excellent experience. They even called today (next day) to ask about how it went! Great customer service.

There were good and bad aspects, although I tend to give Nashoba Air the benefit of the doubt and expect that they will learn from this experience. The good: I'm very happy with the end result. By the time Shawn came out to review how the system worked with me, I was very pleased. The gas system is *way* more efficient than the oil POS I had before and I'm saving upwards of $400 a month in the winter (in my tiny 1450 sq. foot house)! The bad: there were some issues between the time they took out the old pipes and steam radiators and when they came back to install the new boiler and radiators. I'll admit that part of this was my fault dragging out the process while I figured out how to apply for the HEAT Loan and get the gas company to commit to connecting my house to the gas line. In September, Shawn asked if he could send his guys over to remove the old pipes and radiators while they had time in the schedule, thinking that the gas company would be out installing the line to the house at the worst 4 weeks out. They left the boiler in so that I could still have hot water. Unfortunately, after removing the pipes and radiators, the boiler (which, as I mentioned before, was an ancient POS) stopped functioning after a few days. There was some miscommunication between the service person they sent out over the weekend to investigate the problem, and the plumber who did the work, and it took a few days for them to figure out what the problem was (luckily, my parents live less than a mile away and I was able to shower there). In the end, not a huge deal and was more of an issue with my boiler than anything else; HOWEVER, if I had to do this again, I'd insist they do all the work at once to avoid a risk of losing my hot water. Meanwhile, the gas company sucks. They really, really suck. They were evasive every time I called to figure out when they were coming to connect the gas line, but promised they'd call to give at least a week's notice. Of course, one morning I wake up and all of a sudden they're out there digging up my lawn. Fine! No problemo. At least they are out there. However, it's now been a while since Nashoba Air was out at my house, and even longer since I originally hired them to do the work over the summer. When Nashoba Air came back to finish the installation, there were several hiccups with the installation due to some more issues with the gas company, but the problem was that each time Nashoba Air came out, a different plumber seemed to be there doing work. As a result, there were several miscommunications with the installation. The biggest problem was that one of the plumbers didn't look at the size and location of the room (the living room, with a big bay window and the front door on the same side) and put in a tiny 5 ft baseboard radiator. I think he looked at the space where the old steam radiator was taken out (which was ~5 feet) and figured that the old plumber had cut out the baseboard already and sized it. I had to have Nashoba Air come back and double the size of the radiator (and frankly, it can still be a little cooler than the rest of the house). The radiator has an extension on it (so it's not one piece) so while it looks fine, it's also not perfect. There were a few other areas where I felt the plumbers didn't exactly do a great job on the "fit and finish", especially in the bathroom. In the end, however, I think the project was a success. And most of my rage was against the gas company, and I should mention Nashoba Air dealt with the gas company's ridiculousness well (I know that Shawn himself spent time on the phone on the final day trying to get the gas company to come out and finish the installation of the meter). I'd be fine recommending Nashoba Air to someone else, but I would insist on two things: to meet and discuss the project with the plumber directly so we were on the same page, and for that same plumber to be the person who was on site every day working on the project. I think the switching around of plumbers was part of the issue with miscommunication.

(member name removed) thank you for your feedback. It is difficult when a project is spread out that long as we wait for a utility company to install gas lines. Of course, in this situation the line was installed during a very busy time for us - without much notice from the utility company. We appreciate your patience and hope that the monthly cost savings will outweigh some of the inconveniences : } Thank you, (member name removed)!

Overall rating is excellent. HIghly responsive and follow up was excellent. Took approximately 1 full day to do install with some follow up work on another day. Stuck to the quote and provided services as quoted.
Description of Work: Installed a brand new central A/C unit both inside and outside of home. Quality of the work was high, they came back and fixed a leak after initial installation. Overall professional provided services as quoted, pricing was reasonable. I picked them based on final quotes obtained by 3 different companies and on reviews on Angie's list. Quality of installation was excellent, follow up was excellent. Would reccommend to friends and neighbors.

Things could not have been better on both installations they have performed for us.
Description of Work: Nashoba Air installed a central air conditioning and heat pump system in part of my house in about 2009. Their service was excellent, the price at $10,000 was competitive, and the system has performed flawlessly. In 2011 weI wanted to replace an aging and inadequate AC system in another part of our house with an AC/heatpump system. We had been so pleased with Nashoba on the first job we did not even seek alternative bids for the second job. After the installation some of the dampers that controlled the zoning of heating and cooling in different parts of the house did not work properly. Nashoba promptly installed much more expensive and sophisticated dampers at no additional cost to make the system work perfectly. Their service and professionalism is absolutely perfect.

This was my third estimate for a system, and their estimator was prompt and very professional. He was knowledgeable in the newer hybrid system that I wanted (some others were not) and did not pressure me to sign. I accepted their bid later in the day, and because this was a one-day installation, they were able to fit me into their schedule quickly. The employees worked diligently and cleaned up nicely. They were patient while I asked to run and check the A/C and heating portions of the unit before they left. There were two small issues that were addressed quickly. One was that I had to point out one area that they had not fully sealed in the exterior wall. The other I learned on the first very cold day. They came out within 2 hours of my call and determined that one of the settings on the fancy thermostat for the hybrid unit was incorrect. This was quickly fixed once the technician identified the issue.
Description of Work: Nashoba installed a whole house A/C unit for my existing forced air heating system. The specific unit that I purchased was a hybrid A/C heat pump unit that has saved me a couple hundred dollars off my heating oil bill already.

In the late summer of 2011, the outside unit of my whole house A/C system died. I put off fixing it until June 2012. Called and talked with Shawn (the owner) about fixing or replacing it. He set up a date and time to come to my house to inspect my unit and suggest possible options. When he got here we spent about 3/4 hour talking about replacing it along with the internal unit (that goes inside the hot air duct at the furnace in my cellar). He showed the pluses and minuses of several models/manufacturers, and suggested a reasonably cost unit that would fit my needs. Quotations were provided immediately via a laptop computer and printer he brought along while we sat at the kitchen table. I really liked this guy. I can't say that about several other trade service persons that I've been somewhat forced to utilize. A awesome review on Angie's List helped as well, in my decision to select this firm over two others that I received quotes from. Within a few days, Shawn let me know the installation date and time his guys would be over to do the work. Two installation guys showed up promptly at the time and date provided and had the work done by the close of one day, including removal of all the old parts and material. Checking on them from time to time gave me the confidence that the work was done very professionally and correctly. A few days later Shawn set up a time to come by and see how everything went and answer any particular questions that I might have. The new A/C worked just great throughout the summer months with no issues. Shawn runs a 5 star operation at Nashoba Air and I can highly recommend them to anyone else. Only one minor point; After the work was preformed I asked Shawn to have Nashoba Air to set up an annual furnace "tune-up" service in the fall which he said that they would do it. I never heard anything more from them on this subject. But to be fair, I was tied up with other activities and never followed up myself at the time to see why I didn't get a fall heating service call. Just thought I'd point this minor infraction out.
Description of Work: Provided formal fixed price quotation for replacement of my dead whole house AC unit with a new energy efficient one. Quickly installed selected model for price quoted with no problems Provided (through third party bank) financing for unit and installation Followed up to make sure I was happy and answer any questions.

After a couple of service calls, we realized that our system was dying; it was 24 years old, very rusted, highly inefficient, the overflow valve was busted and a zone panel was hanging by a thread so there wasn't any heat in the family room. I never felt pressured to buy from Nashoba but they received such high reviews that it was a no-brainer to go with them. They came the week of Thanksgiving and the two men were very professional. There was never a sign of them in the house and the utility room was cleaner than when they started. They answered any questions we had and we can't believe they did it all in 2 days. Although they were there after 5pm the last day, we appreciated the fact that rather than come out one more day, they would stay to get the job done and not inconvenience us. We didn't have heat for one night but we stayed at a relatives and it wasn't much of an inconvenience. I'm told they'll take care of the rebates for us so I just have to look out for the checks in the coming weeks. We also chose to finance 50% of the purchase through their bank for financing which we plan to pay off before the 6 months. That was also very easy. Our sales rep was Bruce and he was very responsive, especially on a Saturday when we went back and forth with changes to the quote. The two men who installed were super nice and we have already recommended Nashoba to friends and coworkers.
Description of Work: We had a new high efficiency Buderus boiler installed and a hybrid water heater installed. A team of two men came in and removed everything from the old boiler and water heater. We also asked that they remove the baseboard heaters from a 3 season porch which they charged a minimal fee.

We were able to get a non-emergency appointment in just a couple of days, and told the workman would arrive between noon and four. At 11 am the day of service we received a call saying that, the service man was ahead of schedule, and if we would prefer, could come right away. Joe arrived ten minutes later and very carefully evaluated our problem, explained what he could do, might be able to do, how long the "fix" would probably last, discussed our long and short term options and did the job. After he told us that if we decided to have a more substantial (and expensive) repair done within the next 30 days, or if the repair he did today failed within that 30 days, there would be no additional service charge for his return visit.. He also noticed that the people who installed our water heater (another company) did not install the screws in the vent system which are both necessary to stabilize the tubing and to meet code. He went out to his truck, got the screws and screw driver, and took care of the problem. He then discussed what options we might have for installing a new heater, making clear that only a salesman could really determine our needs, and offering to get one to call. I didn't keep strict track of the time, but I think he was in our home for one and a half to two hours. In the end, he charged us less than he had originally quoted because the job required no parts (other than the "bonus screws" and little actual labor. Mostly it was an analytical job and he taught us how to take care of it if it happens again. He is a very nice and knowledgable person. Thank you Joe.

Shawn Kelley, the owner, provided a comprehensive proposal and explanation of the equipment chosen for the project. He discussed the appropriateness of the equipment to our layout and described how the new equipment would more efficiently meet our heating/cooling needs. The installation crew was personable and answered all of our questions. They even came up with an innovative way to install the ductwork in the attic so that it would be off the floor and out of the way, affording us more storage space on the floor. The customer service team in the office was great, answering all of our questions promptly. Although the project took a lot longer than anticipated, approximately 7 weeks from start to finish, the workmanship was of high quality and we did not have a long interruption in service. The air conditioning was installed first.
Description of Work: Nashoba Air and Boilerworks (NAB) installed a new boiler, two new air conditioners, ductwork, and new wireless programmable thermostats. They also installed two baseboards in the basement for heat. Old equipment was removed and disposed of. Ductwork in the attic was removed and replaced to support an air handler that would provide heat and air conditioning to the second floor of our home.

Great from start to finish.
Description of Work: Nashoba Air did a terrific job of checking, conditioning, adjusting and adding coolant to our three outdoor A/C units. They were prompt, professional, courteous, and fairly priced. When one of the three compressors failed a few weeks later they diagnosed the problem -- old age, tired system -- and provided an inexpensive fix they believe will hold us over for another couple of years, at which time they recommended replacement. Fair enough. BTW, the single unit failed on a weekend and they were there almost immediately to fix it at no charge for labor, in view of recent "tune up." Their charges for parts seemed fair -- coolant is *very* expensive everywhere.

The technician was very professional. I showed him the furnace and he asked to use the sliding door in the basement for access so he wouldn't make a mess going through the house. The system is in bad shape and he was very honest with it's problems and what we can expect, but he never once tried to sell me anything. He did his job and he did it very well, keeping me informed throughout the process. He spent 4 hours cleaning it and we noticed how much hotter the water was the next morning and how much longer the hot water lasted! I will definitely use Nashoba again for furnace servicing.
Description of Work: We had our 24 year old oil boiler and furnace serviced.
