Nashoba Air very promptly responded to my service request via Angies List with a return AL message and a follow up phone call. This was during a busy early heat wave week when I was having a problem getting Wilson Brothers to respond to any of my AL messages and phone calls. Leo from Nashoba Air came to the house at the time promised and methodically diagnosed my problem to be a faulty relay. He had a replacement in his truck, and although the replacement at $220 seemed high, considering the time it took to diagnose and replace the relay as well as the service call and both systems refrigerant charge check, the total bill was not unreasonable. The unit has been working fine in the recent mini-heat wave so we are very satisfied and we would definitely call Nashoba Air again in the future.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and replaced a defective relay on my 2nd floor air handler. Also checked the system charge on both air conditioner compressors and cleaned the heat exchanger fins.

They are an excellent company to do business with. Starting with phone conversations and prompt call backs for questions and also a call prior to arrival for service. The staff is extremely customer focused. They helped us navigate and apply for the MassSave energy load and rebate program. Their products are top line name brands (e.g. Lennox HVAC equipment) The technicians that came to my home arrived on time and worked steadily to complete the installation. They showed great care and concern for my personal property. They included me in on discussions as to where placement for certain item would go and which was my preference. E.g. what side of the house the external intake and outtake PVC pipe would be place, etc. The technicians were very friendly and readily answered any questions I had during the installation. The clean up after the installation was amazing. I think my basement around the new furnace looked better than when the started. Given the high level of customer support and quality of service I would highly recommend Nashoba Air.

I had intermittent problems with my furnace for more than a year. I had three different companies service it. None of them could replicate the problem. The Nashoba tech spent the time to thoroughly test the system. Because it was an intermittent problem, it took time to reproduce the issue. In the end, they were able to diagnose the problem and recommend the correct fix.

I had been researching water heaters for quite a while, as mine was 17 years old and showing signs that it was going to fail soon. After talking to 4-5 companies about replacing what I had with the same thing (an oil-fired 32 gallon tank), I called Nashoba and spoke with Shawn, the owner. He mentioned that it would be advantageous to look at high-efficiency hybrid water heaters, something I hadn't considered until then. I looked into hybrids, and found that he was right; they are very energy efficient and would be a great replacement. He gave me a quote, and after speaking with other contractors i went back to Shawn to have him install it. His workers (Josh and Joe) were very good; they said they'd show up at the house at around 8:00 AM, and the doorbell rang at 7:55 AM. So many times contractors don't even bother to show up, or are late and never call! Nashoba took away the old tank, put the new one in, cleaned up after themselves and were gone in about 4+ hours. They also coordinated the electrician so I didn't have to deal with it. I'm very happy with Nashoba Air. They know what they are doing, are courteous, and show up on time. As an aside, today (just 3 days after Nashoba Air installed my new water heater) my oil-fired furnace stopped working. It was a chilly 56 degrees inside the house when I woke up, and I knew there was a problem. The furnace had been "tuned up" by someone else just 3 weeks ago. I vowed not to call that guy again, as he didn't give me a good feeling about his skills. While thinking about who to call, I thought "Today is Sunday, and I'll never find anyone to come by quickly. It'll be hours before anyone shows up." Thinking about the good experience I had with Nashoba Air, I called them, and within 25 minutes of me making the call a truck actually pulled up in front of my house! Amazing! The technician, Brian, was very easy- going, knowledgeable, and showed me what was wrong. It seems the "other guy" didn't tune up the furnace as he should have. I am very pleased with Nashoba Air and Boilerworks. They are my heating, air conditioning and water heater guys from now on.

It did not go well. We are not happy with the system because we can't use it in efficient mode thus saving energy. The well water is too cold so we need to use it in Ibrid mode in order to have enough water for four people in the house. When I complained I was told that the well may be the problem. Why was I then sold on this particular system? I was also told by the owner that his mother has the same system as other customer and they all work. Little help for me because mine is not efficient. Company has never looked into solving the issue. We only had the brand new system installed last October so this December 2014 the pump failed. The system is only 1 year and 3 months old. We spent over 13,000$ for this system so imagine our reaction. We called for service. Now we have 10 year warranty on parts but not on labor. This meant that for the service call I was billed for was 95$ and on top of that I had to pay them to change the broken piece. Which would have been fine until..... Three problems arise : 1) I unwillingly paid for the service charge because when the tech came to our house he had no clue of what had happened. Confused he called the 800 number on the heat pump and ask the customer service to guide him through the process to understand why the pumps failed. I find it ridiculous that I call nashoba for service and I need to pay for a service call when the only service I receive is watching the tech call the 800 number which I could have called and save the 95$. 2) when I was told that I needed to change the fan which made the pump fail I was told that since I hadn't pay to have a labor warranty (like I hadn't paid enough already) I had to pay over 400$ to change the fan. I told Nashoba I did not want them to return to my home and be charged so much after having spent an enormous amount of money for a new system. 3) as soon as nashoba realized I did not want them back the pulled out the warranty card and told me that if I touched the system I was going to lose the year warranty on parts. I wasn't convinced so I called the hot heather manufacturer who explained that that would not happen and that the home owner can change the piece. I would lose the warranty only if I damage the Heath pump while installing the replacement piece. The meeting with the owner did not go well. Unprofessional and got up from his chair while I was still talking as soon as he realized we were not agreeing. He never offered any suggestions, he never met halfway to keep the customer happy. He just wanted his service charge money and threaten me with "pay or otherwise I see you in court" I never met anyone so abrupt before.

Response from Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks
The water heater that is installed is a hybrid system that uses both a heat pump and electric heat strips. When the water heater is in heat pump or hybrid mode the system is working a peak efficiency. We are confused by this statement as the homeowner states the system is always in hybrid mode where it is most efficient. The cost listed includes a complete heating system in addition to the hybrid water heater. The water heater cost was less than $2,200. The manufacturer must be contacted to verify warranty part replacement. This is why the call was made. Unfortunately, the water heater was not under labor warranty. When outside of labor warranty, a $95 fee is incurred for our technician to drive to the home, diagnose the issue, and have the warranty part approved by the manufacturer (in this case that was 2 hours total- this does not include the office time spent tracking and processing). The diagnostic fee was discussed and approved prior to going out on the call. At the time of the meeting at our office, the homeowner threatened poor online reviews to waive the $95 fee. We were up-front and honest from the beginning and we honored exactly was covered in the warranty contract. Warranty purchases and decisions are in the hands of the homeowner at time of sale, not us. Our office and technicians work very hard to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. In the office, the homeowner made threats of bad reviews in exchange for waiving the $95 diagnostic fee. We don't operate that way, so the conversation was abruptly ended. It is upsetting when we are upfront and honest from the beginning and it turns out like this.

We were extremely pleased with the job. We had our current, 23-year old boiler go through its annual check-up in October and we didn't think it would make it through another winter. Though I wouldn't normally want to replace a boiler once the heating season had started, I felt I had no choice. I requested quotes for a new system from several local vendors and though Nashoba Air was not the cheapest, I selected them because I felt they would provide me the best quality system and installation service. The one glitch we had after I chose them was that the initial install date (early December) had to be moved out by two weeks. Though I was concerned at the time that this would push us farther into the heating season (and thus put my current system at risk for failure), I agreed to the new install date and kept my fingers crossed. The two-man crew arrived as promised on the new date and did nothing short of a first class installation, which took just under two days to complete. I was completely blown-away with the quality of their work. I must also mention that they provided us with two space heaters to use overnight during the installation, so that my wife and son would not have to sleep in a cold house. Would highly recommend this company.

It went very well. The whole experience was good from initial walk-through and proposals, emails/calls with pricing, to installation day. We actually had some paperwork changes due to color changes and a few revisions of the proposal and these were provided very quickly and communication was excellent. They showed up early for the installation. The onsite head installer talked to me clearly, gave me all the possible options available for running the drip lines and listened to my concerns. They walked me through the installation prior to the work being done and followed my decisions. When the work was completed, they did a final walk-through to show me what was done, how to shut down the unit, how to work the remote controls, they were excellent. The crew was clean and did a very professional job. I would definitely hire them again.

The whole process, from getting a quote to signing off on the work, was terrific. We received quotes from 3 companies and Nashoba Air had the best price AND the best quote process. Tom arrived at our house on time and was very thorough in his evaluation. He explained benefits and limitations of the system very well and guided us to the best solution for our needs. He had a laptop and printer with him so we had a quote in hand before he left. They were able to get us on the schedule quickly and we had an install date 3 weeks from date of the quote. We were advised that they would only need one day to do the project. I was told that workers would arrive at approximately 8:30 a.m. At 8:00 a.m. on the day of installation, Stephen called to let me know he would be there in about 20 mins. and arrived shortly thereafter. He introduced himself and let me know that another worker and an electrician were in route. He asked for a walk through of the house to make sure that we were in agreement as to the work to be done. By the time we finished, Joe (who also introduced himself) and the electrician had arrived and they got to work. Stephen kept me updated during the day as to their progress. He let me know when they were leaving for lunch and what time they would return. By 4:30 they were done with the installation. They walked me through how to operate the indoor units and how to clean the filters. They cleaned up all trash and debris inside and out and even vacuumed the floor. Overall, a very professional and well done job. I would definitely use them again and would recommend to others.

They are listed on Angie’s List. The guy who showed up was the owner. He has his own computer and printer in the deal. He has a digital camera and uploads photos of everything that is there. He gave me a quote. He was in and out in 20 minutes. I was impressed. The guy told that he has 30 trucks. He printed me out a quote before he left. The quote was $5200. A lot of times I used to give quotes. I used to write it down on the back of business cards. I already saw the guy’s site. He was sharp and smart. He came in and he photographed the house. He photographed the unit I have now and he photographed the connectors and the ductworks. He came upstairs and gave me extra 2 quotes. He had a laptop and he had a little printer underneath. He turned around and printed it for me in the car. He has got 18 or 32 trucks which for servicing in the winter is important. The price that he gave me was standard price. It was not a discounted quote. It was an honest quote. I think I called him on a Thursday or Friday and he was there on Monday. He has a secretary that called me and set up the appointment. I don’t have to wait around all day.

Working with Sean Kelley was great. He was patient and willing to answer all questions. We were updated on the entire process and they handled all the paperwork for Mass Save. Their customer service was exceptional. When the crew came to do the actual install they were timely and worked diligently to get the job done on time. When done they cleaned up the place better than had they found it. We highly recommend them without hesitation.

We got estimates from different contractors. Nashoba Air had the best price and gave Angie's List clients a discount. They were prompt and professional. The system was installed in less time than anticipated, but it did not work. It took several service calls to alleviate the problem. There were some faulty parts and some issues with the installation. After the system was running, we still had a problem with the hot water. The overflow was leaking. They needed to add an overflow tank, which was not in the original estimate. They said that they should have anticipated the needed and they installed it at no charge. The system is working well. The installation should have gone more smoothly

All went perfectly for gaining the estimate.
Description of Work: I contacted 4 air conditioning companies in the Acton, Littleton, Hudson area. Four came to give estimates for retrofitting central air conditioning or a mix of a ductless system (main level) / central air (upstairs). Of the 4, Nashoba Air was by far the best with staying in contact, coming and combing the house inside and out, explaining the intricacies of the systems (including leaving flyer literature and explaining work that would need to be done), and providing a list of options for us at a reasonable price. AND Tom, Nashoba Air’s representative, stayed at our home to produce and provide to us a typed and itemized printout of hardware and work to be accomplished for 4 options. The options ranged in price from approximately $15,500 to $13200. And alternatively at least one of the options could be broken down to doing the upstairs / down stairs in a phased approach (so that the costs of each phase would be approximately x and x). We are currently deciding whether we can take on this cost this year or perhaps wait a year for budgeting purposes; however, no matter when we take on this project we will likely stay with Nashoba Air.

As usual, Nashoba was very responsive and was able to make a recommendation and get someone out to my house the next day to do the install. The installers came promptly the next morning, right on time, and finished the install in about 1 hour. At the end of the install, the tech told me he was finished, but did not ask me how I wanted the system configured. I asked him if he set it up to trigger the blower to go off when the humidstat fell below a certain level. He said no, but that he could do it. I was slightly irritated that the tech didn't ask me before installing how i wanted it configured. This is important becuase you can have this thing run ONLY when your heat runs or you can have it run independent of your furnace. This makes a huge difference in how well the humidity levels in your house are maintained. The tech went back downstairs and completed the job. I went to check on the humidifier a couple hours later and noticed the service light was on. I called back and Nashoba sent someone right away, but it turns out the tech had no properly set the dip switches that configure the device in the way I described above. It irritated me that I had to check on the work and discovered that it was done improperly. At least they came right out to set it properly. This is where things go sideways on this job. Four days later I notice that my blower and humidifier are running nonstop. I also notice the house doesn't feel any more comfortable than before the install. I go any buy a humidistat and sure enough, the relative humidity in the house is 22%. There was no way this should have been the case. I go to have a look at the humidifier and notice that it's installed on the RETURN. The device is blowing steam into my filtration system (also installed by Nashoba at an earlier date) that is designed to filter out something as small as cigarette smoke particles. There's no way a water droplet of steam would make it through this. Moreover, the steam is being blown back into the furnace. While the furnace is running, this is blowing all the steam over the super hot flames heating up the air - obliterating any humidity that managed to make it through the filter. Moreover, this is pretty bad for the furnance. I check the installation guide and sure enough it says in bold letters DO NOT MOUNT ON THE RETURN. Since it was a friday night there was no way it was getting fixed any sooner than Monday, but I left a note for Nashoba through their website. First thing Monday morning I did get a call from the service manager that admitted right away that this was improperly installed and sent someone out to fix it right away. This time I checked everything. Nashoba is a great company and far better than some of the crazy and sometimes straight up wrong or hazardous mistakes I've see other HVAC companies in the area make; however, this really alarmed me. The company did the right thing by being responsive, but had I not been more conscious of things post install or gone to the trouble of buying a humidistat, this may have gone on for a few weeks. I am by no means an HVAC professsional nor do I have any engineering background or technical background, but this was pretty easy to figure out. I still do recommend Nashoba, but you should make sure to check their work and speak to the installer after and before the install. Also, Nashoba should be careful not to let their very good reputation to be tarnished by situations like this which are preventable with checklists. For example, give your installer a checklist of things they must do at every job. That would include things like certifiying that they reviewed the installation guide for the equipment prior to starting the work, the review with the customer what they are going to do and why, ask for any preferences and then review the work with the customer post-install.

They were very good. It was really expensive and they did a great job. We bought the most energy efficient furnace so we deliberately paid more for that. Everyone is very professional and timely. I was pretty desperate to get them out here because it was July and there was no air conditioner and it was like 100 degrees and I had a 3-year-old. They came out right away and did all that work with very little notice. They were very nice about it. I thought they were excellent. I have no problem with everything they did. They were very responsive.
Description of Work: Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks installed our furnace and air conditioner.

Technician was very polite and very technical, he know the stuff that he was working on. He replaced the circuit board which has all relay to turn on and off the fans or system. Nashoba air and Bolier pay stucture is: 1. to take a look at the system and find fault they charged $95 2. To replace the board they charged me $350 which includes part and labor. After technician left my home, I tried to search around on internet for the price of board and I found it of $120 to $135 on various online sites. So for labor I paid $215+$95= $310 which kind of look expensive. I would be even more happy if they would have charged me $200 for total labor.
Description of Work: We had issue with HVAC system where blower fan was not working, technician came in and he identified fault and replaced the component reporting issue.

Thank you for the review and we are so happy that we were able to get your system back up and running so quickly. I would like to comment about the pricing – always a difficult area for us and homeowners. The diagnostic covers our traveling expenses and diagnostic time. If homeowners could bring a furnace and ac unit to us – we wouldn’t have to charge it! But obviously that is not the case and we must pass along our vehicle expenses and time to the customer. Online shopping can be a bargain! I love Amazon! Often – you can find parts that cost less than what we can buy from our local distributor. However, online companies will not warranty HVAC parts or the labor. Whereas, our company provides a part AND labor warranty. This support is something you cannot get buying online – which is why we do not buy our parts online. I hope this helps you to understand why the investment was more than you may expect. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss this subject and we very much appreciate your support of a local business!
