+ 0 moreI have used Harland several times in the past, and once again they did not disappoint. Just purchased a new home and had several jobs to be done. They are not necessarily the cheapest, but the price quote was reasonable for the services needed, and they adhered to their estimate. The work required two days - the upgrade of the panel is a full day's work. They arrived on time, were professional, took care to clean up after, and provided recommendations regarding other things we might want to consider - but never with any pressure. Andy and the whole crew were great, and I would never hesitate to recommend them.

+ -1 moreIt went perfectly -- From the booking of the appointment that Judy handled, to the questions Andy answered on the phone before the install, to the install itself -- TOP NOTCH. Installers Lee and Scott were professional, friendly and quite obviously knew their stuff. For my living room fan especially, involving a 23 foot ceiling, I was very impressed with their skills applied while working on a very tall ladder! They made sure everything was working before they left. (One remote control device ended up not being compatible with the fan and could not be used -- but that's a product issue.) They disposed of the old fans as well as all packaging for the new ones. I thought 4 hours of labor at $140/hour was on the expensive side --- but to be fair I have no basis for comparison, as this is the first electrical work I've had done in my home since it was built. For the bathroom exhaust, another company expert contacted me by phone the next day and we discussed the next steps I needed to take with the Condo association if something was to be done about the air flow. (The damper on the fan is working correctly.) I really appreciated this advice as well!I have a wish list of "other things electrical" and will engage them again without hesitation! Excellent group of people!!
Description of Work: Installed two replacement ceiling fans (which I had to purchase, with accessories, on my own.) I had to rely on advice from Home Depot to be sure I had all the right accessories - remote (one of which didn't even work), "downrods" and wall switch. This is the one area that I must admit I felt a bit "lost" -- and I ended up buying an extra downrod because I wasn't sure what would work in one of the two situations. The advice came AFTER I had purchased the fans and called to schedule installation. And at the end of the day I didn't realize I would also need a replacement switchplate ("3 gang, one decora"). I chose to purchase this myself after the fact.) So the "do's and don't's I'd offer here are: - DON'T expect advice for initial product selection -- in this case, sizing the fan for the room, determining whether brands are reliable, or whether certain features do and don't work with the unit you buy -- until AFTER you buy the fan(s). - DO your own research, pricing comparisons and choose wisely. - DO be prepared to purchase a few extras (switches, downrods, electric switchplates, remote control devices) if you're not sure what will/won't work -- and make sure they can be returned if you don't need them. They also diagnosed and recommended solution to a problem with a wall-mounted bathroom exhaust fan (the issue for which involves venting into an unknown area -- roof eaves? soffit? shared vent on the roof? -- from which exterior air is flowing INTO the bathroom, and is a problem in the hottest of summer / coldest of winter weather.). The solution will involve working with my condo association to determine the specifics of the venting and hopefully gaining approval to install a dedicated vent. (The advice I've received so far has been very helpful -- now it's up to the condo folks as to whether we can proceed...)

Description of Work: i contacted harland electric and told them what I needed done. They gave me an approximate estimate over the phone which I OKd. I then set up date to have job done. On June 5th, two workers showed up. I spoked with Lee and showed him what I needed done and supplied the material to do the job. An additional fan box bar needed to be installed. Lee and his helper Kevin were very professional in the start and completion of this job . I would call them back if I need future electrical work done. They installed a ceiling fan a range hood over stove and a new digital thermostat . I am very pleased with the outcome and so was my wife...

At a time when everyone wanted this done they were prompt and were VERY FAIR in their pricing. I have used them many times before. They replaced the service and panel in our current home and have done repairs in our last home. All done perfectly. I know my way around a fuse panel and wiring. The work they perform was the best!

+ -1 moreSeveral years ago, in the middle of a freezing cold Jan. nite, our smoke detectors were set off by smoke coming out of the electrical panel. After calling the fire department, the next call was to Harland Electric who dealt with the emergency at hand and then by first thing in the morning had helped us to arrange for an excavator to build a trench to pull the new electric wiring needing to come from the pole to a new electric panel that they installed. A huge project was performed with a minumum of stress and highest attention to detail at a fair price. Harland Electric is the best.
Description of Work: I could not recommend an electrical contractor more highly for jobs ranging from small to very, large, urgent issues in the middle of the night. They know what they're doing and do it well.

I have had Harland re-wire several homes, dating back to 1999. The work has always been excellent, and the company is a pleasure to work with on every level. You can probably find a cheaper electrician-- that is always true --but you will not find higher quality work, or a more professional approach to working with the customer.
Description of Work: Bill Harland has done a number of jobs for me, some of very large scope. The last piece of work consisted of installing lights, fans, complete wiring, and pulling of CATV cable in a new family room addition. Bill's work and his people are first rate.

+ 0 moreI sent an email describing the work I wanted done, and received an email acknowledgment within hours, letting me know that I would get a call back from one of the owners to discuss scheduling and estimate the following morning. He called as promised and was able to give a rough estimate over the phone. We scheduled an appointment for the following week and the electrician arrived right on time. Due to a slight miscommunication about the placement of the original outlet, he needed to install a second outlet, but I take equal responsibility in that. The work was done quickly and professionally. I also asked if he had time to take a look at a switch we were having problems with. He verified that the circuit was working properly, and that there was a battery in the unit that needed replacing (who knew it needed a battery?).
Description of Work: Add new outlet in basement to support refrigerator and freezer, including adding a new breaker to the electrical panel.

+ -1 moreOur all electric clothes dryer was spinning, but not heating up. I tested the outlet and found that it was not providing 240 volts. Harland Electric came and replaced a bad circuit breaker in the panel. Repairman showed me how the bad breaker had overheated and deformed, and how the adjacent electric stove circuit breaker was also damaged. He replaced both breakers, and shifted their locations within the panel so that the two high heat breakers were not adjacent. Despite apparently being very busy, Harland's folks did a good job scheduling/communicating; the dryer failed on Sunday night, I called them on Monday morning, and by 5:30 PM on Tuesday all was fixed.

The wiring that was there was unusual, but he had not problem reconfiguring the wiring that was there to work the fan and light on separate switches that were enabled by a master switch. He connected the wiring in the attic, and replaced the old combination switch in the wall (including the box). I'm sure this was an easy job for him, and I am very happy with the result. He cleanup up well afterward. Andy was very friendly and made the experience comfortable. I use Harland Electric for all my electrical work.
Description of Work: I needed an installed bath fan / light connected to power. It also need a new combination switch to control it. The fan / light was installed when the ceiling was tiled, but the power was not connected.
