Ian gave us an estimate that was very close to the estimate of two other contractors. We chose him because he seemed to be very professional and honest, and are we glad we did.we had a major house remodeling and he was the best contractor we worked with. The quality of the work was Great. After about 2 month we needed some pavers replaced because of a fence installation, this job too was done to perfection, with no extra charge.

From the outset, Ian was incredibly responsive and able to understand exactly what we wanted. He developed a fabulous design, which we worked with him to tweak and perfect. He & his crew completed the work within a very short time frame. During the work, Ian checked in on the crew regularly and would sometimes ask them to redo something that was not perfect. We get many compliments on our new front yard!

These guys were extremely knowledgeable and very professional. They were just above my budget otherwise I would have used them. They are pricey but I could tell they would have been worth it if I could afford it. I would rate them a B+ overall given the price but they get straight A's everywhere else. Worth a look

The man who came over from Premier Pavers & Hardscape Co, the leader, was very presentable, provided us all the information and was very clear about what they would provide or was included. They didn't fuss about details and pretty much included everything, and they did the actual work. Part of time they were doing the job we had to be away, when they started we were there and everything seemed to be going really well, and when we came back everything was beautiful and in great shape, and so we were very pleased with Premier Pavers & Hardscape Co.

Why I am upset is that Ian recommended a company to me that turned out to be terrible. He uses them for Asphalt jobs. I trusted Ian and got an estimate, and proceeded with his recommended company after getting 3 bids. Ian told me to please let him know if I had "any problems" with the Asphalt company he'd recommended, and to call him, and please let him know. I did have problems. When I let him know, he denied that anything was wrong with how the job came out. He came by to see it, while I was home, but did a Drive-By instead of speaking to me in person, to see what was wrong. The new pitch is 35-40% steeper than it used to be, and it was a gravel drive. My new paved driveway is too steep to park a second car in, and get out of a car. The car doors are too heavy to open, due to the pitch and weight of gravity from the angle. They fall back on you and are dangerous. Vendors that used to park in my driveway for 30 years, like my electrician or carpenter can't park in drive due to the new steep, deadly pitch. Winter is a whole other story. The Salesman from Asphalt Services promised he'd oversee the whole job. Never came by again. The Foreman I was told was going to also oversee all stages did not exist. The crew heads changed everyday. There was no communication between the Prep of Driveway Crew, and the Paving Crew. The Prep crew prepared it with a much more gradual grade, and while I was here. I took photos of each and every step. The Saleman's orange Spray Paint markings for the crew said "Raise Here." The crew must have thought he meant to raise a mound up where he'd sprayed. Again, he never came to explain those markings. There were also 4 hours where I asked for months in advance, that they NOT come. I had a commitment for those 4 hours on that day. I reiterated this many times to the Scheduler. Instead the paving crew came and paved those 4 hours. I wrote them several times saying do not come this one morning. The Asphalt Office ignored this specific request and seemed to deliberately come when I was gone. But they claimed their paving trucks got stuck in traffic, and had to change the afternoon job for the morning. Swapped the two jobs. I doubt that. The owner then came by and threatened a friend, and myself, when I requested they come to see and hear what the issue was. And to see the evidence. I had photos of Before, During and After. He refused to look at them and said it was a good job. Threatened to sue me if I wrote any bad reviews. He writes I should refer back to the company. I did and almost should have had the police here for witness and protection. If Ian had at least spoken with me, pulled his car up the driveway and tried to get out and speak to me, I would have more respect for him. The company he recommended is not a company I would recommend to anyone. Surprised he does.
Description of Work: I did not use them. Owner has a Paver Stone company. He seemed nice, but was too expensive, and I wanted asphalt, not pavers. But when he recommended a company I had problems with but said he would help if I had problems. He did not keep his word.

I?ve waited to post the review so I could see the driveway ?in action? so to speak, and to let some of the dust settle, figuratively, if not literally. Our old driveway was a mess. Only long enough for one car, so we parked the other on the grass, leaving a deep rut. There was no connector from the driveway to the front walk. The asphalt was broken, had deep depressions, and was impossible to shovel. Replacing it with asphalt was never an option?I don?t like the look or the environmental impact?so we researched concrete pavers. We interviewed three A-rated Angie?s List companies and wound up choosing the middle quote, not decided on price alone, but also the rapport we had with Ian at Premier. That might be mistake #1 if you don?t end up working with the individual who convinces you to hire their company. But we liked what he had to say, he drew up detailed plans, convinced us permeable pavers would be fine?we?d gone back and forth on that. It all seemed so neat and tidy. Mistake #2. Installing a driveway is not a clean and neat process. I understand that. I?d never done it before; these guys do it every day. I?m not saying they didn?t know what they were doing; they worked their butts off, rarely taking a break, though they never worked the sunrise to sunset hours Ian said they would. But the property is very small and urban. Permeable paving means digging down 14 to 16 inches and removing a lot of material. It started OK. They drew their lines and when I pointed out that the shape was wrong, they asked me for a copy of the plan Ian had drawn up. It showed the layout of the border. That went to the lead guy (who apparently never looked at it again). They spent the first day pulling up the old hideous asphalt. Then, the next day, the subcontractor with the Bobcat and dumpster got lost so was late. They filled the dumpster, trashing the lower branches of the street tree in the process. The guy leaves. Hours later, he comes back?with a still-full dumpster. Seems there was too much plant material, so wherever he was taking it refused the load. How do you not know where to take the debris or what you?re going to be hauling away? So he wasn?t going to be able to come back with the gravel. He also had the Premier guys smooth off the top of the load so you couldn?t see it above the rim. Seems he lacked the required cover for driving the stuff on the highway. So the driveway was now a long, deep trench. The plan was to put down layers of geotextile and washed stone (three sizes), then the pavers. So what order do they deliver the materials? The pavers show up before all the stone is put down. (One load was down, another was in the street.) Really. Nine pallets of concrete pavers and no place to put them. Naturally the space was too small for the forklift. So they transfer some pavers to the Bobcat and haul them to the back yard, mashing my lawn and a shrub in the process. More loads go into the front yard. No more room. The rest have to go on the sidewalk. (Of course, it?s also pouring rain.) By Day 3 I went back to work because watching was too stressful. So each evening I came home and looked around. The downspout was missing the long piece that would go under the gravel. They fixed it after I pointed it out. Then they didn?t put down the prescribed concrete bond beam along the edge. They fixed it after I pointed it out. Then the front gate wouldn?t open because the pitch was wrong. It?d always been a problem, but Ian had said they?d be able to fix that no problem. To fix it, they had to pitch the walk very steeply. But at least it opens. After they finished, I noticed the design of the blocks was incorrect. At first it didn?t bother me, but the more I looked at it, the more I didn?t like it. They came right back to fix it. Unfortunately, rather than redo the blocks, they just cut a line down them. It looked horrible. So they came back again and redid it. I also noticed the walk was too high at the steps, so the first step was lower than the rest. A trip hazard. They fixed that, too. But they made such a mess that they had to come back and clean up. They were very accommodating in making things right, insisting I had to be happy with it, which I am. But I think they had to come back three times to fix things that if they had only followed directions in the first place, they wouldn?t have needed to. In the end, it took a month longer than scheduled. I still have more lawn to repair. Also, beware. When they tell you they take credit cards, it?s not for the full amount. I think they only allowed half to go on a card. I honestly don't know whether I'd hire them again; I certainly don't plan on doing such work again. I'd recommend them to others with the warning to pay close attention and check the work carefully. There are things that are now buried under concrete and gravel and I may never know if they were done right or if they would have been done right if I hadn't looked closely. So far, the driveway is performing wonderfully. No rain puddles, it shovels like a smooth dream. My next milestone will be spring when I find out how much of a problem I?ll have from all those tree seeds that nestle so neatly into the seams. Will they sprout? I also have been careful to keep any loose gravel that comes out of the seams. I?ll sweep it back in after winter. But in the end, I?m loving the driveway and walkway.

I sincerely apologize for the problems that you experienced. It was a difficult job site & street on which to work, but that is no excuse. However, please feel comfortable that the job is now exactly as it should be, & that you will get a lot more pleasure from it over the years to come. You should not have any problem with seeds germinating in the joints, but please feel free to call us if you have any concerns in the future. I will also be happy to repair the grass that you mentioned if you like.

We had bought a house with a gravel driveway, and decided we'd like to replace it with a permeable one, and do a proper matching entrance instead of random flagstones on the ground, at the same time. We also needed better drainage for the patio. Ian's quote came in very close to the cheapest of the three we got. We decided to go with Ian because in addition to a good price point, he also seemed very detail oriented, and noticed a lot of little details that had to be addressed while doing the driveway (e.g. cracking cement in the garage, badly done small retaining walls on either side of the garage, etc. We liked that he thought of this job as a package, not a collection of random things to be priced like a items in a grocery cart. Ian was also super patient with us choosing the pavers, dropping off samples of different things more than once, as our thinking in what we actually want evolved. He was probably here 3-4 times dropping off samples. Once the job started, the team was *extremely* professional. They were always here at 7:30am promptly, worked very well, and were very respectful. They also did great with our little kids and the cats wondering around. I couldn't believe how quickly they worked! They finished faster than expected, and did a really nice job. Bob, the main manager, was here daily, and Ian probably dropped by 3-4 times over the 10 days (that we knew of). He responded very quickly to things that needed modifications from the original plan for whatever reason, figured out really nice solutions to things that came up, and when there 4 things his team failed to do once the work was done, he took careful note and all was fixed by the time we were back from work the next day. If I had any complaints at all, it is that Bob, the site manager, was a bit rude when asking for money. I had explained to him several times that he can't call me at 8am in the morning and ask for a check the same day, because I am already on my way to work at that time, and anyway I am with two kids on my own in the morning and cannot attend to anything except the kids in the morning, and that he has to give me one day's notice at least. Instead of saying something like "I'm sorry, that's fine, would tomorrow work then?", he'd respond with "So, what you're telling me is that there won't be a check today?" in a sort of impatient tone. And I'd say "that's right", and he'd respond with "OK, I'll tell Ian", with a tone of "I'll tell on you". I think it's just a personality thing, and was offset by the fact that Bob did a great job when some rotten wood was discovered under our entry. If I were to give Ian any piece of advice (sorry Ian that it's indirect like this), it would be - don't let Bob handle asking for money. He's not very good at it... Anyway, the way I dealt with it is that I just communicated directly with Ian about money, bypassing Bob. And when Bob would call, I'd just tell him I had already emailed Ian. Anyhow, our story is not over. We loved the job they did so much, that we recommended Ian to our neighbor, who had to redo his retaining wall, that is bordering on our property (i.e. we're the ones actually looking at the wall). Our neighbor did end up choosing them, and here too, Ian and his team did a GORGEOUS job. We love love love the new wall. Again, we could see the work being done, and again, they were there daily at 7:30am without fail, and I believe they finished a few days ahead of time. They also did a fabulous and professional job protecting all our trees and transplanting and replanting our plants near the wall, to protect them, taking careful pictures to make sure everything goes back to the same place. I was truly impressed by the professionalism there. Oh, and we also loved that Ian uses Unilock pavers, that we read online are the best out there. Overall, they really just did a fabulous job, and really we weren't always the easiest of clients. Ian was extremely responsive, saw the big picture as well as the details, took care quickly of every issue that came up, and we would not hesitate for one second to hire him again or to recommend him to others, as we already did.

They did a fantastic job! They did a hybrid pavers and asphalt on our driveway. Bob was extremely responsive and when he was unavailable to see the us, he gave us another contact to work with, his name is Ian and he is also wonderful. The entire team was very responsive, very good, very professional, and they clean up after themselves. We had some issues during the final walk through and they came and fix it immediately. There were noticeable progress being made every single day. They also built a 5 ft. wide walk way around the perimeter of the driveway and a paver border on the other side. The price was a little bit expensive.

Although we have a beautiful, high quality driveway, the service to get it was terrible: communication was terrible, except when Premier Pavers was looking for a check the job was subcontracted out we were told that we should feel comfortable coming and going as the guys worked, but that is not what we actually felt, we always felt like we were inconveniencing the workers, even when they were taking a break the workers seemed to be constantly taking breaks and smoking cigarettes the workers were late coming every day Things started off very well. Ian was very responsive and keen to earn the business. We chose Premier Pavers for two reasons: quality and their service model. Premier Pavers were the most expensive quote of the three contractors we received quotes from, but at the same time they also committed to high quality with high service. The service part of the equation never occurred. In fact, once I wrote the deposit check I had to chase the company down for updates regarding when they would start the job. When they finally did show up to start the job I was surprised to find out that they had subcontracted the job out. This was very disappointing. Ian from Premier Pavers boasted about the many awards they had won, which was another factor that played into our decision to choose them. Our job was quoted to take 3 to 5 days. Each day the crew showed up closer to 9 or 9:30, sometimes later. There were many breaks. The third day of the project was a Friday. We were not sure what was going to happen for the weekend. As part of the service model, Permier Pavers assigns a project manager to every job. Ours was seldom around and I had to chase him down by phone on Friday to find out what their plan was for the weekend. Later that night he left a message that Ian and the crew would be showing up Saturday morning to work on our driveway. The crew never showed up and we did not receive a phone call. We had moved our vehicles to ensure they would have space in front of our house to access the driveway. So we continued on with our day as usual. At 11:30 AM they showed up and asked us to move one of our vehicles. Since I was in the middle of feeding our 16 month old daughter, my father-in-law ran out to move the car. While moving the car he had an accident with the car. One of the crew members witnessed the accident pointed it out to my wife, with a chuckle to my wife, who was just returning home. Possibly, it was a nervous laugh. Monday morning, day 5, I received a call from the project manager informing me that they would be finishing the job and when he could expect final payment. I found it very upsetting that when it came to payment the company all of a sudden became proactive in their communications. I chose to wait until the job was actually finished before writing the check. The crew only finished at 7 PM Monday night. We were very excited about getting a new driveway, but by the end of the project we were very disappointed. Although we really like our new driveway, the experience has left us less than thrilled. We have another job that we plan to do next spring and Premier Pavers will not be doing the job.

Hi (Member name removed), I was most disappointed to receive your letter. I do understand your frustration at the delay in starting the project. However, keep in mind that you hired us on June 12, & it then took Carlos a couple weeks to get the paperwork & deposit to us. They were received June 27. Please do try to understand that we always do our best to estimate the approx start date based upon the existing situation at the time you commit to the work. However, the construction industry is very difficult to always be right on. We are at the mercy of the weather, & also sometimes customers on projects that are under way add to the project (in either a minor or major way) after we begin the work. Unfortunately, we experienced both of these problems between you hiring us to do the work, & the start date. Consequently, all start dates of jobs were delayed. I told you that we would try to start in 3-4 weeks time & we started (even with delays) in approx 4 weeks from the time we received Carlos deposit. There was a week of lost time in July due to the weather. Please note that I told you that it could take approx 3-5 days to build the driveway. It is on the contract. We maybe took 1 day longer than that. As to your other points………. I am very sorry to hear about the incident with the car. I spoke to the crew members & they did indicated to me that they did not find it amusing, & did not laugh AT the situation. I am sorry that your wife thought so. We have operated for 12 years under the same business model, & have built an outstanding reputation doing so. I do not recall you asking me about it, & having been so successful with it for so long, it is not something that I even think about any more unless I am asked. If asked, I answer truthfully & transparently. Bob &/or I were at your job site daily reviewing progress & ensuring that all of our quality standards were met. I can confidently say that I believe that they were. You now have a beautiful, well installed driveway. I am sorry that it took a little extra time to build, & that you had the mishap with the car, & am quite sure that you will have many years of happy use from it. Hopefully over time the feelings that you have expressed will diminish, & be replaced by feelings of enjoyment. Thank you Ian Forman

Ian was great throughout the bid process. He was responsive, creative, easy to work with, and answered all of our questions. When the time came for the work to start, we met the project manager, Bob, who was equally responsive and attentive to any questions or issues that arose. The work was done quickly and is of exceptional quality. We can't believe the difference in our back yard. Ian promised an urban oasis and he, Bob, and Premier Pavers delivered! Thank you!

Absolutely awesome! This company was very responsive and professional from start to end. We priced the job with a few contractors and this company was (by far) the most professional and had a very fair price!! Everyone that we dealt with was great at this company. Our foreman, Bob Burkhardt, was in constant communication with us. The job was slightly delayed but this was due to weather and beyond their control and what I liked most was that they constantly let us know where things stood in terms of progress towards getting to us next. The job was done beautifully with high quality and was perfectly according to specs. We would absolutely use them again and fully recommend their quality and professionalism!

There was some delays (through no fault of their own) due to the weather. Rain pushed the start date back by 4-6 days. The only complaint I have (it's minor) was that I wish they had been proactive, and informed us of the delay as opposed to me calling to figure out when they'd start. Once the work commenced, everything went smooth. They worked particularly hard in making sure they mitigated lawn damage. The process took three days and was done with the care and quality anyone would want. Even after the patio was laid in, they came back to fix three stones that weren't quite solid. They fixed those up and we couldn't be happier with the end result.
Description of Work: Built a hardscape patio off the back of the house covering an area of approximately 12*16 feet.

I called a few places, some no response other more expensive. I thought Ian was great. It seems like he gets some flack on here, but he was a good salesman. Ian was very responsive to what I was looking to accomplish. He had some great ideas. He was also punctual for all meetings. They came out removed a small deck and replaced with a two tier patio. These guys worked in the rain. I think it rained almost everyday they were here. I was getting a little water in the basement during the construction. However when I advised them, they kept everything covered until completion. This solved that problem and no water since. They completed the whole project in little over a week. In addition, they also repaved my front walkway and added mulch to the back area of my yard. The final product is beautiful. I absolutely love it.

From beginning to end the experience was above our expectations. The sales rep was very helpful in guiding us through all the ins and outs of pavers about which we knew nothing. We were shown videos of the typical excavation and construction process so we knew what to expect. He also made layout suggestions we had not thought of that greatly improved the result. Work commenced about a month after contract signing, as promised, and continued without interruption until completion. To our amazement and pleasure they added two unexpected extras. First they landscaped the boundary areas and planted grass seed. Second they excavated and reconditioned two old dry wells at the edge of the driveway. All in all it was smooth, pleasant experience with beautiful results.
Description of Work: 1) Replaced a 150 foot gravel driveway with pavers 2) Added a turnout for cars to reverse direction 3) Reset stones to level the front entrance terrace

Rick was prompt, polite, and he even brought an album with pictures of examples of work they have done (beautiful work!). He emailed me his proposal even earlier than he said he would. His number for the retaining wall was more than we wanted to spend for that project, but he also gave me an estimate on putting pavers on our driveway, which is something we are considering having done in the future. They stand by their work, so you know you are getting good quality.
Description of Work: Rick came out to give me an estimate for a stone retaining wall, both out of brick and out of fieldstone
