I did a lot of research before I invited companies to come in and give me an estimate, so I already knew which brands of pumps I thought were reliable, etc. When the Ronchetti rep came, he outlined a plan that was right on with what I thought I wanted/needed. Other companies tried to convince me of other approaches that just didn't appeal to me at all. The workers were experienced and Ronchetti himself often came to the work site to make sure everything was moving forward well. While digging, they discovered that my sewer line was deteriorated so they arranged for a plumber to come and replace that section with no delay. The result has been wonderful, especially with all the snow we've had - the drain expels all the melt-off and keeps my basement dry. That was the goal!
Description of Work: The company installed a French drain inside my basement along one wall (a leaky fieldstone wall on the upslope), and installed a new sump pump, plus a secondary pump with a battery backup. They also redirected the drainage pipe (from an old existing pump that they replaced) so that it expelled downslope.

They did a first class job and they went out of their way to make it work right. They came in right at our budget. The price seemed fair and well worth it. We have plans to use him again as soon as the snow melts.
Description of Work: Charles Ronchetti Waterproofing put a sump pump in our basement. They also dug around the inside of the basement wall to allow for gravel to be put in the drain.

Charles and his crew were wonderful. The were prompt, polite and very neat. Jack hammering concrete flooring is a messy job and his crew covered everything and blocked off the doorways with plastic to contain the concrete dust. The bulkhead turned out great. They extended it out into the yard a little and added a concrete step and about 6 inches of height overall. There are no seams or cracks in the concrete - you would never tell that anything was added after construction. We were very pleased with the result.
Description of Work: We had our bulkhead raised with a step added and the bulkhead extended. They installed a french drain system along the back of our house rerouting existing sump pump drains to the front of the house. They also installed a wall water barrier system in our basement.

I'm very pleased with the experience and would recommend this company. I think their price was fair. They came in the middle of 3 estimates I got. They were professional and very easy to deal with. Initially called and had visit for estimate in July 2010. I contacted Charlie in the fall to say I wanted to go ahead with the work. Agreed to do the job in January. Was called in December to offer me an earlier date. I said I'd prefer to stick with January and they were fine with this. Work started January 10th as agreed. The employees were all polite and friendly. They worked the 10th and 11th, then job interrupted by a snow storm on the 12th. They came back on the 13th and had to shovel their way round to the bulk head to get back into the basement. Work was completed by noon on Friday Jan 14th. Charlie had recommended an electrician he works with, Neil Hartery, who came down and wired in the sump pump on the Friday afternoon. He was also very pleasant to deal with and put in a couple of extra receptacles that I requested. It will probably be a few more weeks before the job has to be put to the test in terms of keeping the basement dry, but I'm confident that things will look a lot better than they did last year when there were several inches of water on the floor for about a month. Thank you Charlie and team.
Description of Work: Basement waterproofing. Trench dug around perimeter of basement. French drain installed, plus a new heavy duty sump pump. New cement floor poured in affected areas. Piping run to outside of house. Skim coated a basement wall, previously water-damaged.

My basement was flooded. I spoke to three different waterproofing companies. I chose this company because they had some other work for me in the past. As they are masons, they had rebuilt something for me. Theirs was not the cheapest estimate, but I felt they would do a good job. The work he did on the French drain was cheaper than the estimate. The original estimate was for a complete French drain. However, he decided that I didn?t need a French drain on a specific part of the house. I also had the slate tiles of my pathway replaced. He had told me that the work would be done in October. However, in August, I called him for a confirmation. He called back. Apparently, a lot of people on their list were away. So, they came out in August and started the work. The work cost me $8500 totally. They charged $1800 for the stone work and the remaining amount for the French drain. I would recommend them because they are craftsmen and are perfectionist. They have the old-world pride in their trade. I would hire them back in a minute.

I made an appointment for an estimate with the company in August of 2010 and they were to come in January of 2011. However, they called me in October and were able to start in November if I wanted them to. I did want them to. Five men arrived on the agreed upon day. First they moved everything to the center of the cellar and covered it with plastic, jack hammered the perimeter of the cellar (1.5 days), then installed the piping and pumps, and covered over the french drain with gravel and cement. Lastly, they installed a drainage pipe outside of the house to take the water away.
Description of Work: Mr. Ronchetti installed a French drain around the inside perimeter of my cellar, installed drainage pipes, gravel, cement and two sump pumps (one is battery operated). He then installed a drainage pipe outside of my house to take the water harmlessly away from the foundation. His men worked tirelessly for about 3 days and installed the system.

This is the third masonry job that Charlie Ronchetti has done for us over a period of 10 years or so. He runs a very professional company that does excellent work. I have referred him to other people in the past, and they too were very satisfied. While I am sure that I could have found someone to do the work for less money, I know that I got a first-class job by a mason who takes pride in his work. The chimney is constructed from cement bricks that were breaking down after a number of years. Charlie was able to provide me with several different options (from a new chimney to simple patching), and we were able to come up with a repair strategy that was sensible and fit within my budget. That is, the top of the chimney was completely rebuilt with high quality clay bricks and new flue pipes. Below the rebuilt section, he refaced a number of areas where the cement bricks were spalling, but had not completely deteriorated. I should note that this job was done on a time-and-materials basis because it was not clear from the exterior just how much of the chimney top would have to be demolished. However, Charlie did give me an estimate beforehand and I felt comfortable taking this route, having previously done business with him.
Description of Work: Tear down and rebuild the top of a chimney. Install new flue caps. Repair brickwork as needed.

Wonderful, very helpful, and there was no charge for the recommendations. Concluded that the water was probably coming from the surface down along the foundation and grading the land down and away from the house could probably stop the water problem. If it didn't work, Ronchetti could then come look and see about installing a French drain system. I was very confident that I had gotten good advice and very pleased with Mr. Schneller's assistance. I will definitely call Ronchetti if it appears I need the French drain system.
Description of Work: Phone consultation with office manager, Klaus Schneller: my explanation of my water problems and construction details of my house foundation, then discussion of whether the water problem was resulting from some leakage at the foundation or the water table rising from below, then recommendations on how to repair the foundation area as a first pass at a fix, which, if it did not work, could be followed with an installation of a French drain system. Also, I received recommendations as to what type of workmen (driveway pavers) to get to do the land grading (mostly, the work to be done is next to the driveway), and what type of sump pump for emergencies to buy (a "shallow draw" pump). Also, I received price estimates for an installation of a basement sump pump (approx. $1,650) or a French drain and sump pump (approx. $6,500), should I need to go that route at a later date.

Our basement is extremely humid throughout most of the year, resulting in mildewed clothing and soft boxes. We just weren't able (nor happy) to be emptying the dehumidifier's bucket twice a day. I had once attempted to run a hose into the dehumidifier to drain into a hole in the basement floor, but I had managed to break the machine beyond repair. I contacted Ronchetti (from Angie's List recommendations) to come provide a free estimate for sealing the basement from this seepage of wet air. Claus showed up the next day about 15 minutes earlier than we had scheduled (that's a good thing). He took a look at my basement and told me that since we didn't have any water problems, we didn't really need to seal the basement. He walked around the property and pointed out to me where I needed to extend a few drainpipes and where to lay some soil to protect the basement from pooling exterior water. Back in the basement, he actually converted my (new) dehumidifier from a bucket-based machine to a hose/pump-based machine. It's now pumping the water without any need to empty the bucket! I offered to pay Claus for his time (about 45 minutes total), but he refused. He asked only for a can of soda! He was a decent man, and helpful. I am almost--ALMOST--hoping that something goes wrong with the house so I can call Ronchetti again. For now, I'll have to just 'pay it forward.'

First off Charlie came on time for the appointment. He listen to our issues and concerns and then thoroughly explained what he could do to help resolve the water issues in our cellar. He broke all options out and priced accordingly allowing us to pick what we thought we needd the most and could handle cost wise.Dug trenches; installed pipiing; recapped trnches with concrete; installed new sump pump and a secondary battery back-up. Cleaned and stuccoed foundation walls from floor to apporx 4' 1/2" (wish we could have afforded to do the entire height of the wall) White washed newly stuccoed foundation and installed concrete steps in the bulkhead. Charlie and crew where vety concientious and were extremely careful of our newly installed paver driveway. If we ever find the extra money we would love to have Charlie back to complete the top portion of the walls, beacause what they did came out absolutely beautiful amd made our cellar much more useable than it ever was.

We had rain leaking through the chimney and called companies to evaluate. Mr. Ronchetti was the only one to respond & come out the same day. He placed a large tarp over the chimney to prevent further leaking. We discussed what work needed to be done and was given a price range of $1200 for work on the chimney by two men and $500 to 600 for the flower bed. I asked specifically for an estimate and was told he does not give estimates. I communicated what our budget was, and was told again the cost would likely be around $1800 total. I called Mr. Ronchetti and scheduled the work to be done. At that time, I asked again for a written estimate but he informed me that he does not give estimates but charges "by the job." On the day of the job, he arrived with a three-man team, stating he wanted to expedite the work by having three men work for $1750/day instead of 2 men at $1200/day. He stated the third man would be there to work on the flower bed and would help the work go faster. He had never suggested this before in our conversations, nor did he ever mention the possibility of having a more costly three-men team. Moreover, the flower bed work had not even been started yet at the end of the first day! My wife and I called him that evening but did not receive a call back. The next day, a team of two men showed. My wife called Mr. Ronchetti in the morning to discuss how long the work would take and left messages. He did not return any of the calls. She finally reached him towards the end of the morning and his response was unprofessional and rude, asking, "What IS your problem anyway?" The work was completed by early afternoon but while working in the garden bed, one of the men dug up an expensive bush (we had paid a large amount the previous year to design and plant the landscaping) and replanted it in a different area without ever asking us if it was okay or where we might like it instead (we were home at the time). Later that night, my wife and I called and spoke to him. We told him of our concerns re: their policy of no written estimates, that the cost was much higher than we were led to believe (he quoted approx. $2600 with materials), and explained our frustration with the lack of consideration or professionalism by him or his men (ie: not calling back, attitude, removing bush without any warning or consideration of informing us beforehand). He responded by stating, "You are probably the only person who would be upset about a bush being moved." He even stated how he was doing us a FAVOR by doing the work. We told him we would compromise and pay him what he originally had told us at $1200/day x 1 1/2 days plus materials. He responded, "Do what you want, you're just trying to rip me off." We firmly and calmly said we were not trying to rip him off and wanted to discuss our concerns and find a resolution. Having used many great companies on Angie's list, we are amazed at the lack of professionalism & customer-oriented service from Ronchetti's.

READ THIS REVIEW because you have no idea how great this is. Our formerly swampy basement is bone dry. We get a high water table whenever the Sudbury River floods. Every year we had water cascading over the basement floor into a sump pit. It even bubbled up like a water fountain at several points. Horrible, nasty, wet-floored mold-infested basement. Last spring/summer, with a typical flood season, there was standing water (large puddles) until July. On July 15 there was a mushroom growing out of the wall. This year, nothing. I mean nothing. Like magic. Less expensive than the competition (we did 3 bids), more professional (on time for initial appointments when B-Dry was late and arrogant) and the results are spectacular. Don't listen to your wife. Don't buy a new car or go on vacation. Get this done and you will rest easy.

1) Before commencing work on the sump pumps, Charlie drew numerous diagrams of the options open to us and patiently explained each. He recommended far from the most expensive alternative. He also spoke with the company who had installed our radon elimination system to confirm his work would not increase the radon level. 2) Charlie periodically inspected the work performed by his assistant.
Description of Work: We employed him for two separate jobs. 1) Replace existing sump pumps. In one pit, Charlie and his team replaced an old sump pump with two new electric ones plus an additional battery-powered backup pump. He also replaced all the PVC piping leading to the exterior and the pit cover and surrounding masonary. In the second pit, Charlie and his team replaced an old sump pump with two new electric ones. He also replaced all the PVC piping leading to the exterior and the pit cover and surrounding masonary. 2) Replace flashing behind front door blue stone steps. Charlie's assistant removed all the steps, replaced the flashing, then replaced the steps, including all mortar. When done, the steps looked the same as before he started except no mortar was missing now.

We are extremely pleased with the results of the project. They started the project when promised and finished on time. No surprises. The basement looks great and didn't get wet after a recent rain storm that tested the water proofing.
Description of Work: We had a water problem in our basement and the morter in the old field stone foundation was crumbling. Charlie installed a french drain and resurfaced and waterproofed the foundation walls (interior). It was a significant amount of work! The team of 5-6 worked very hard for 4-5 days.
