It was a great experience overall. We would definitely use Bryan's service in the future.
Description of Work: Our power cable was knocked down from the October nor'easter. We found Bryan on Angie's list and called him for an estimate based on his great reviews. He gave me an estimate very promptly and the estimate was reasonable and competitive. I was very happy that he was willing to match another bid I got and he also agreed to start the job first thing in the morning. He was very professional, did a great job, and finished on time! Not only that, he did me a favor and helped me install tool rack in the garage upon request when he really didn't have to given how busy they are during these few days. Although it took just a few minutes, it showed a lot about his willingness to provide good customer service. Glad to know I now have a go to electrician in the future! It truly was a pleasure doing business with him.

We had a patio installed and I wanted outlets and wiring for lights to be installed. I needed the work to be done quickly and I found Brian on Angie's list and he had great ratings. I called him and he was VERY prompt and came to give an estimate and actually provided an estimate the same day (PDF via email). I've never seen such great communication from an electrician. Brian came in and did the job perfectly - he was very neat, and did his job well. I've used a few electricians before but none are as dependable or prompt as Brian. I highly recommend his services. Also, he's pretty good with sending emails and quotes via email - you'd be surprised how nice it is to have an electrician know how to use email and provide great communication. I will be using his services in the future.
Description of Work: Bring electrical line out to patio, add circuit to panel, add ethernet ports, add electrical outlets.

I bought a townhouse in Dracut about 2 years ago, which needed a lot of tlc. After painting the entire house I decided to replace all the outlets, switches, and face plates. As a new homeowner I did the expected and did it myself. After I had finished I realized that not all my switches were working and no electricity at all was going to my bedroom. After much double checking by me and my hired helpers "friends", we were able to fix everything except the power in the bedroom. Several phone calls and visits by various friends and my dad, I still had no power. I finally decided to bite the bullet and call in a pro. One of my contractor buddies suggested calling Rayne Electric. I called and spoke with Brian, he listened to my problem. He asked me some very basic questions about 3 way switches or gfi outlets I might have replaced. When we were unable to pin point the root of the problem. Brian said he was finishing another job but he would be over in about 2 hours. I had been promised times and disappointed all week by delivery companies and the cable company. So needless to say I was not optimistic. To my surprise he was here right when he said he would be. He came in introduced himself and ask me to give him a run down of what I had done. He plugged a vacuum into one of the dead outlets in the bedroom and flicked the switch for the downstairs closet. The vacuum kicked on, seriously he was here for not even 5 mins. I have been trying to figure it out all week. He informed me the travelers were wired backwards. The whole repair took about 15 mins. He also informed me that one of my circuits on my panel was double wired, this was something my home inspector should have noticed and told me about. I thanked Brian for his promptness and professionalism and I was ready to move in. A few months ago I bought a flat screen tv. Thinking about what mounting the tv would take (new outlets, snaking wires, and mounting the tv). It looked like a two person job, so once again I called Brian at Rayne electric. I told him I was getting out of work in an hour, he asked me if I had already bought an hdmi cable. I told him not yet, he told me to go to best buy and pick one up and he would meet me at my house. He was in the parking lot when I pulled in. 45mins later I had a flat screen tv mounted on my wall. He even helped adjust the color and picture settings. Brian always goes above and beyond. He is now the only person i will call. I would recommend anyone looking for an awesome electrician.. Call Brian at Rayne Electric.
Description of Work: I have used this company twice in the last 2 years. First was about 2 years ago to have the wiring in my house fixed. A few months ago I called them back to have my flat screen tv installed.

Brian was able to squeeze in a ceiling fan within an inch of the ceiling beams and it looks and works perfect. I was a bit unsure of what I wanted to do in our family room with exposed beams but, Brian had some really great ideas on what would work well and be aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Over all everything came out great, I am more then happy with the results and would certainly recommend Rayne Electric to anyone who is looking for someone who is easy to work with and very professional. His prices were competitive then many of the quotes I received. I have also recommended him to friends and family as well.
Description of Work: I hired Rayne Electric for the second time because I had such a good experience with Brian the last time I hired him. I used Rayne Electric to install lighting for my kitchen, living room, family room and bath, including a fan install and wiring for my Heat and garbage disposal. like last time, they were very professional, punctual and had some great ideas.

He was very nice, professional, came when he said he would. Gave good quote but didn't follow through. I am disappointed, as I thought that I had found a great person for this job and future job, but I guess I still have to look as he never finished the job.
Description of Work: Our thermostats in the living room gave smell of burning, so we called Rayne Electric after seeing good reviews on Angie's list and the fact that we too live in Lexington, MA. Along with the thermostats, we decided to get bunch of other miscellaneous things that needed to be fixed (circuit braker, new outside outlet, dryer plug etc) on the list as well. He gave reasonable quote for the rest of the jobs, there was some miscommunication between him and my dad about the heaters and thermostat needs in the living area, that I tried to clarify in emails. But then, he stopped replying to my emails or phone calls and never came to get any job done. I am not even sure what happened. Please note that our family was travelling for business and personal during this discussions, but I gave him enough time for him to get hold of us. I asked him if he could come and finish the rest of the list and suggest ideas or solutions for living room heating that would be great. Living heat in detail: We have total of 5 electric baseboard heaters in the living area that includes, living room, kitchen and sunroom. Before they were controlled with two Aube programmable thermostats, but they gave burned wires and I got really scared as this is potential fire risks. I asked if he could suggest programmable thermostats that can control multiple electric baseboard heaters, that would be my personal choice. As this was in the winter, temporarily, we went and bought two other thermostats (that are not programmable from home depot). His recommenadation was to change the coil heaters to this new energy efficient heaters that carry liquid. I like the suggestion, but then I asked him what is the capacity for living sq area, how many would we need, can they be controlled with programmable thermostats, how much do they cost? he never replied back. Also, I did some online research and I am not sure they would be the best for us, but I would have liked to further discuss with him why he thought they were good solution for us if he had replied back.

My dish washer and sink motor was not working for a week and I was forced to call an electrician. After seeing the reviews in Angies list, I gave him a call and he was at my house the same day. He immediately found that the problem was a loose wiring on the main electrical panel. But more than the service, he was very nice to deal with. There was also an issue with the check that I had given him and he was very understanding and cool about it. Will definitely call him again.

Brian was very punctual and responsive. His prices were reasonable and he was personable when we met him. Although we did not choose him for the job, we debated for weeks between hiring Brian or another electrician because both had excellent reviews on Angie's List and were prompt in courteous in coming to give estimates. His pricing was slightly (~$100) higher for an ~$3K job, which was the only reason we chose the other electrician instead of Brian. We would certainly consider working with him for future projects.

Email and phone communication with Brian was easy. He is extremely professional and polite. We bought the fan and wall plates ahead of time. He brought an extra person along to help the day of the installations. They did the work well and everything looks great. He even threw in a wall switch he had because it was exactly the type we wanted but didn't have.

First of all, he fit me in on ZERO notice. I haven't had a working stove for MONTHS and had to have this one built. Mr. Rayne did a stellar job and was undaunted by the electric weirdnesses and even checked to see if there were a coating on the burners (which could be harmful to my grandson who has asthma and LETHAL to my parrots.) THAT'S service!

We had several different estimates. This electrician had done other work for us in the past. We tried to get in touch with him to do this final job, but he was away on vacation. So for 2 weeks, we looked for other people to do the work. We were quoted $800 for labor and an additional $200 for parts from one company. We were quoted $756 for parts and labor from another company (with a $40 coupon). Brian came in at $330. We knew his work was good because, as I said, he already did other work for us in the past. So it was a no-brainer to wait for him to get back from vacation and have him do the work. I just canceled the 3rd estimate that we were going to have done which was scheduled for next Monday.

Brian came when he said he would, and he and an assistant completed all the rough wiring in one day. Certainly not the cheapest, but excellent if you're looking for quality work.

I put in a call to Brian and he called back to schedule when he could come over to look at the job. He showed up on time and looked at what I wanted to do. He explained to me in detail how he would accomplished the job and how long that it would take. That night he emailed me a quote which I accepted, he emailed me back a date of when he could do it (2 days later). Brian showed up as scheduled. He was very pleasant and did a great job. When he finished he cleaned up and made sure everything worked and asked if I had any questions.

Brian and John worked early from morning till afternoon, very professional, and cleaned up very nicely after. It took them two days because one of their colleagues was out sick, and we didn't mind that at all. They were very fast, efficient, and involved us in the process. Our place looks GREAT!!! I am a bit of a clean freak, so expected to do a lot of cleaning after they left, but in fact, the cleaning was so easy because they had done most of it. They even wiped down the dining table & coffee table of the residual dust from poking holes in the ceiling.

Brian first installed a bathroom ceiling fan last summer. I was impressed enough to have Brian give me a quote to upgrade the whole house system. Brian works via email, providing detailed written estimates for work. His final fee was equal to the estimate. He did not leave a mess, which has been a problem with previous electricians. The only thing I would do different is ask him to include removal of construction debris at the end of the job. He pulled alot of old equipment out, and it was somewhat painful for me to haul it off myself.
Description of Work: This is the second time I have used Rayne Electric. Brian Rayne and an assistant upgraded my electric service from 150 to 200 amps and replaced both outside and inside circuit panels. He also moved the outside connection to a better location.

Brian Rayne answered the phone himself. He listened to me describe the problem over the phone and suggested several thing that I could do myself to determine the source of the problem and possibly correct it. He also offered to come to my house if what he suggested didn't work. I did what he suggested and it fixed the problem. AND he called me the next day just to make sure everything was okay. Because of his helpfulness, I didn't need his services, but he's now first on my list if I do need an electrician.

We bought a Victorian house in which not all the knob and tube wiring had been removed during a prior owner's renovation. What remained was the most difficult to remove -- primarily in ceiling fixtures surrounded by ornate plaster, beams, etc. -- and new wiring had been spliced to old. Our insurer required all knob and tube be removed as a safety measure. We arranged for Brian Rayne to come before we bought the house. He did a thorough evaluation of the work to be done and provided a detailed estimate. He took the time required to talk with us about the work involved and to answer our questions. After the closing, he and his assistant returned to do the work. He was a pleasure to have as a contractor: competent, personable, neat, prompt, thorough, and communicative about the issues. All positive. We especially appreciated the care he took to minimize the damage to the plaster and paint in creating access to the wiring. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Brian goes above and beyond the call of duty. He took the time to explain everything to us before doing the work, and his estimate was very reasonable. He was very easy to reach whenever we had questions, and he always called us back immediately. He left the jobsite as clean, if not cleaner, than it was before he started, and he was very honest about everything, letting us know what issues were more pressing than others. He even took on some carpenter duties and cut our countertops and cabinets to make room for a new washer and dryer, which saved us time AND money! Working with Brian was such a pleasure, I know we'll be using him again in the future for all our electrical needs.

He was here for about a day and a half. The job turned out beautifully. He didn't intend to do the work and just decided it was more efficient to do the job directly. It was a pleasure to get him and I was very impressed with him. I like people who educate me and he did do just that. He was very clear about the price quote and answered any questions that I had. It was easy to email him to get clarity on the bid when I was deciding and easy to coordinate the actual work being done and scheduling. He was accommodating in coordinating with the plasterer who was simultaneously working in the house. He was not the lowest or the highest in terms of price, but it seemed very fair for the amount of work he was going to do.

We were referred to Brian by another Angie's List contractor. Brian was great and provided a creative solution to our problem. We have a large basement living space, and after several days of rain noticed mold around the baseboard and especially in the bathroom. After consulting with a plumber, it was determined that there were no leaks, but rather moisture was coming up from the floor and there was no air circulation in the basement. Brian suggested an exhaust fan to get the air out of the basement. Because we intend to eventually use the basement as a living space, we had Brian install two fans to be safe. They are fans that are intended for radon, and are set on a timer. They have worked perfectly. In the summer, we kept both on the timer for a few hours a day. They move a tremendous amount of air and moisture out of the basement. Now that it is the Winter, we unplugged one and have only one going for an hour a day, which is fine. Brian also installed recessed lighting in three separate rooms for us,along with dimmer switches. All of the work he completed was in two different visits, several weeks apart. We will definitely being calling Brian first with any electrical needs in the future. Brian also noticed a fire-hazard in our attic while installing the recessed lighting. The insulation was covering old recessed lights that actually required spacing and were not intended for direct contact with insulation. This was a great catch by Brian and he pulled the insulation away for us.
Description of Work: Installed two 4" exhaust fans in basement, and vented both outside. Also installed 1 timer clock for the fans, and a dedicated circuit breaker from panel for fans. Installed twelve 6" recessed lights in 3 separate rooms, all with dimmers. Installed seven new trims on existing recessed lights.

We got four quotes for the job. Rayne was in the middle. We decided to go with a lower quote. Brian was on time for the estimate and was very professional throughout.
