Mark called to confirm the appointment and even arrived a few minutes early. He was very professional, offered solutions I hadn't thought of, and completed all of the work quickly. Great quality. I'm pleased with all of the results and would definitely use this group again.

The handyman was upbeat, friendly, and had the right tools to do the job (i.e. appropriate ladder). I had purchased hardware ahead of time. It is hard sometimes to get people to do these kinds of small jobs, yet the company made it seem like my business was important. I used a coupon which reduced cost, but I would use them again.
Description of Work: Hung external shutters on 3rd floor window. Put hooks on wall in bathroom.

+ -1 moreHaving taken advantage of an Angie's List "Deal", I was rewarded with three hours of skilled household repair completed by Mark Ercolini from Bob Samson's Handyman Matters of Greater Boston for less than $200. Mark extensively caulked a badly leaking bathtub. He repaired a door and doorway where the door was literally coming off its hinges because the hinges weren't lined up properly. And he removed another door that was improperly installed and, as a consequence, stuck and would not open or close without being forced. I couldn't be happier with the result. Mark had the tools, materials, and expertise that were needed to take care of these repairs--none of them monumental, but each requiring finesse and know-how. I would definitely go back to Handyman Matters and would highly recommend Mark Ercolini.
Description of Work: Extensive caulking of a leaking bathtub; repair damaged frame of interior doorway, trim door, and rehang; remove and cut down door to fit door frame without sticking.

+ 1 moreHandyman Matters worked with us over a couple of weeks to find a time that was convenient. Mark showed up on time, had the necessary tools to complete the jobs, was professional, knowledgeable, respectful and pleasant. He gave me alternative solutions when the first attempt did not work, as well as cost saving measures for other potential jobs. I would absolutely hire Handyman Matters again.
Description of Work: We hired Handyman Matters primarily to fix a window whose counterweight was stuck inside the window frame, and would not allow us to move the window up or down. As this was a Big Deal, 2 hour event, we had a variety of smaller projects to utilize the time. In addition to fixing the window with no damage [will need to be painted but that was a given, no matter who fixed it], Mark rehung the shade and the curtains, put the lamp and bedside table back in place, completely cleaned up after himself. He also put up a shelf in the bedroom, hung a clothesline on our back porch, gave me words of wisdom re radiator covers and realigned a large bureau so the door covering shelves would close appropriately. He severely cut down my husband's honey do list, for which we are both grateful!

He did this well and efficiently. He then repaired a bifold closet door and a sliding closet door. Both now hand appropriately and slide as intended.
Description of Work: Service provided hung some art work for me and repaired closet doors. All professionally done.

+ 0 moreI purchased the Angie's Deal from this company - $99 for 2 hours of handyman work.I had a large wooden flat file that needed to be assembled. I had read estimates that it took about 3 hours to assemble, but I was hoping he could do it in the 2 hours. It did, indeed, take the 3 hours but that was no surprise. A man named Chad came to do the job. I believe they have several people to send out. Anyway, he was friendly and didn't waste anytime. HE listened to NPR, which was totally fine with me! It was a good experience and I would definitely call this company again.
Description of Work: I had a large wooden flat file that needed to be assembled.

+ -1 moreI had a wonderful experience with this Company. Bob was quick to respond and scheduled my appointment within a couple of days. Mark arrived right on time. He was very careful not to do damage to the window while removing the big air conditioner, which had been installed on an outside bracket and reenforced inside with plexiglass, silcone, and screws. He carried the air conditioner to the sidewalk where it was later taken away by the Town. Then Mark replaced several window sash cords, which proved more difficult than usual, because of metal channels that had to be removed and then restored. This took extra time as he had to be careful not to damage the channels so that they would work properly after being remounted. He then cleaned the work area before leaving. Mark was very personable and I was extremely happy with his work product. I was also thrilled that Handyman Matters offered this Big Deal, which made it possible for me to get this work done, and become familiar with the quality of this Company.
Description of Work: Handyman Matters of Greater Boston's offered a Big Deal on Angies List for up to 2 hours of work for $99.. I contacted owner Bob Samson to see if they could remove a permanent-mount air-conditioner from my dining room window and put it on the sidewalk for the Town to take away later on . I also needed some window sash cords replaced. Bob said they could do both things. .

An agreeable date was set and I was advised it was best to have all products available for the handyman in order to save time. The handyman arrived on time and was extremely competent and knowledgeable. What I appreciated most was Bob's immediate responsiveness and support when he was called because the door size I had purchased was incorrect. He came right away to meet me, pick up the door and assist me with the purchase of a correct door. The handyman was focused, thorough and very neat. The screen door was hung properly and is working great. He did a super job cleaning out the storage area which had water damage. He pulled up the carpeting, scraped and removed all the residual glue. He also added extenders and elbows to the outside drainage pipes of our HVAC system and cleverly moved them away from the foundation. Overall is was a great experience and I found both Bob and his handyman very professional to work with.
Description of Work: Replaced screen door. Removed rug from storage area damaged from water leakage...and removed all residual glue on the flooring. Added extended PVC piping to outside drainage for HVAC units.

+ 1 moreFrom start to finish we had problems working with this company. They were inconsistent about communication, unorganized, rude to my children and although we were charged for every second the workers were here, they spent a lot of time chatting on their mobile phones. They didn't clean up their mess, and we had to call a plumber to unclog two drains on our bathroom after they rinsed drywall scraps down the drain. Completely unprofessional all around. Don't use them!!
Description of Work: The Handymen that worked for Bob Samson were suppose to check for and fix some ice d*** damage from this winter. I was extremely detailed about the work we needed done over the phone and again over e-mail. I also had Bob come to our home on 2 occasions to make sure we were on the same page about what needed to be done. In general, 90% of the work that was done, was done incorrectly, and has had to be fixed. Bob is a convincing salesperson, but it was clear to us that the workers did not know what they were doing. After the first day of work, I called him to complain about the quality of the work and his reply was "Just tell them what to fix when they return." So I did, and nothing I pointed out to them was fixed. Additionally, they were suppose to patch some drywall, and relay some tiles in two bathrooms that were damaged by water. After we stopped work with Handyman Matters, we had three separate companies come to give us their assessment and quotes for fixing the work that Handyman Matters did. They all said that the work had been done incorrectly, and that it was obvious they didn't know what they were doing. It has ended up costing us more to fix their mistakes than it should have cost originally. Bob handled the entire situation horribly, he didn't care about the stress he had caused us, or the quality of work that was done, he just wanted his money. I hope that people reading this report do not use his services.

He had to do some cutting of the ceiling to put in the new exhaust fan in the master bedroom which I don't think was anticipated but it was no problem. The kitchen faucet took so much time because the old one was so difficult to remove. But he did it and the new one works beautifully. because of the design of my condo, hanging drapes is very problematic. The wall board was so damaged from previous attempts, I needed the hardware to be mounted on the metal studs and the wall board repaired. I thought that this would be the biggest challenge but it went beautifully. I really appreciated the care Keith took in cleaning up after each job. Any time that I will need some work done in my condo, I will not hesitate to call Handyman Matters.
Description of Work: I had 3 jobs I needed to be done. . I needed the kitchen faucet to be replaced;. I had the fan in the master bedroom replaced, and drapery hardware replaced as well as some fixing of the wallboard.

+ -1 moreWas having trouble with my wall air conditioner tilting inward and dripping water on the floor. I contacted Handyman Matters through Angie's List and Bob called me back a few hours later. He was very nice on the phone and we scheduled Bruce to come by a week later first thing in the morning. Bruce showed up on time and quickly resolved the problem. The quality of the work was excellent and Bruce was very professional in all respects.

+ -1 moreBob was very friendly over the phone initially. However, on 2 seperate occasions I had appointments set up to do the work, and on both occasions, no one showed up. I did not receive any communication from them regarding this, and had to call their answering service to let them know no one had shown up. Both times I received a call later from Bob with the exact same excuse; someone was sick and they "did not get around to cancelling my appointment" and that it "fell through the cracks". If it had happened just once that would be a different story, but in both instances I left work early to meet them (as Bob was not as flexible with availability as I would have liked). After the last message from Bob stating that he would call me the following Monday to reschedule, I never heard from him. This company doesn not respect potential customers or their time, and their behaviour is extremely unprofessional. I have since used someone else who has done the work beautifully for me without hassle.
Description of Work: I was looking to repair my bathroom ceiling after water damage from the unit above mine. I needed the area replastered, textured and repainted.

Description of Work: We had a interested problem with our refrigerator because it would not fit the designated space. He had to remove cabintery trim and sand down the wall becaue refrigerator came bowed outside, he removed the trim, sand the wall down, and put the trim back on for us.

+ -1 morePretty good. Bob came out to deal with our problematic bathroom shortly after I contacted him. I'd actually collected estimates to redo the guest bathroom about a year earlier but the costs were huge. Nobody listened to what I asked for - they pushed these elaborate renovations. Bob gathered my requirements, made a few suggestions and we were in business. The reno was a little complicated because it started about two weeks after I returned to work from maternity leave and our baby started daycare. We were nervous about dust and fumes - but with some guidance and extra care (from Bob's team) we didn't have any problems. The bathroom was tiny so I think it was primarily a solo job. Our worker was quick, the work happened on time (about five days) and on budget (within about $25 of our actual estimate). I'm very pleased with the final product - it looks 1000% better than before and really for a very reasonable price.
Description of Work: Demo old bathroom tile on wall, floor and ceiling. Demo old vanity, sink and mirror - preserve toilet and lighting. Install new drywall on walls and ceiling. Install new tile on the floor. Install new vanity sink. Reuse old toilet and light fixture.
