Very very very good. They did a wonderful job. They were prompt and kept me informed. They provided an estimate.

Rich showed up on time and quickly fixed the items. He left the areas clean.

The franchisee, Bob, was really helpful and responsive w/questions and helped me get someone fast (Nick), when the first scheduled worker couldn't make it at the last minute. I do a lot of work here myself but just didn't have the time to finish this one really aggravating, time consuming problem. My job was simple, but I can't stand sloppy work and Nick was tidy, and brought his own tools, although I have all the materials needed, too. He fixed damaged plaster, and applied it neatly; then painted all the other ceiling areas which needed to be finished. II told him I'd paint the repaired areas another day, after it dried.) The person who came seems to actually have many years in the building trades. Will check later w/the Handyman Matters owner to see if I should hire him for other more challenging jobs that need higher skill levels. For those, I'd request references. But for this job, it wasn't needed. My only reservation is that I think $85 an hour is just too high a rate, at least for my budget. With those expenses, I do hedge a little bit, but I know this isn't charity work or volunteerism either! Folks gotta pay their bills. I was hesitant about using a "handyman" but turns out I got a guy with a lot of years trade experience, so I was glad I took the chance. I would call Handyman Matters again.

I purchased a coupon ($120 for 2 hours) and sent an email to discuss projects. Bob called back the next morning to talk through my list and schedule the appointment. Wait time for appointment was only a couple days, very reasonable. Rich (handyman) called ahead to let me know he was on the way. He was on time. He was actually early and politely asked if we could start early, which worked great for me. Rich was professional, respectful and did a great job. I really like that he explained any issues and reviewed all the projects with me before he wrapped up to leave.

Disappointing - the handyman did not really know how to do the job. Pros: Bob, who booked the job, was great to work with - responsive, flexible. I was a few minutes too late to book the 2-hour deal on Angie's List but he gave me the rate anyway. I warned him the job needed some finesse - the house was old (i.e. frame probably not level or plumb), the door was not original to the frame, and we were switching its direction (to open into the room, not out). He assured me he'd send one of his most creative guys. The handyman was very amiable, but in fact didn't know how to do the job. On the plus side, the door hangs well on the vertical axis - that's great. But. (1) he underestimated how long the job would take - led us to believe he could get to 2, maybe 3, jobs in the 2 hours. Two and a half hours later, the door was on the hinges but it wouldn't shut properly, and the hardware was only half installed. He admitted he too was puzzled too why it had taken so long. (2) he failed to think ahead of time about needing to trim the door to fit the frame. Only AFTER he'd chiseled the frame for the hinges and hung the door did it emerge that it wouldn't even shut because the frame was crooked! Why didn't he think of that beforehand? He seemed puzzled and surprised that after all his work it wouldn't close. Isn't that what measuring tapes are for? (3) he struggled to come up with a solution. I suggested something and he agreed. Not comforting. (4) he had a choice of 2 mortise locksets. Turned down the one that had come with the door in favor of another. Only after installing it did he notice it didn't line up right with the hole in the door. Suggested enlarging the hole in the door. But the door's own lockset fit perfectly - why didn't he think to check beforehand, and pick the one that fit? He offered to come back another day and finish the job (at $85/hour). We had no confidence he knew what he was doing, and ultimately declined. Have to hire someone else to finish the job.

Mark was on time, a very good communicator and creative in fixing things, When my list gets long enough, I will have him back again.

The handyman, Rich, finished up the two projects I had assumed would take 2 hours. The Deal from Angie's was a handyman for 2 hours for $99. After less than an hour, he had finished and did a great job. The work areas were cleaned up beautifully. He asked what else he could do, and I immediately came up with a couple of other tasks that he completed within the two hour time frame.. He took away the shower door frames he took down for me, along with the shower doors that I had taken down myself and stored in my shed. I was more than happy with the job Rich did and will call this outfit again when I have projects I can't do myself! I recommend them without reservation. They work fast and well!!

The handywoman, Deirdre, was personable, pleasant to work with and competent; she clearly knew her business. The bi-fold doors were a tricky job, as they are old, but the repair was very well done. My main problem was that the whole thing took much longer than I had expected, so the bill came to a lot more than I had budgeted for. (I had a coupon for $100, so the real price was $1460). Deirdre left for a couple of hours in the middle of the day, telling me only later that she had had a problem with her truck. This left me stuck in the house waiting for her to return. I would have appreciated a call to let me know she wouldn't be back for a while. She had to return the next day to finish the job. In the end, the kitchen ceiling was primed but not painted because that would have taken a lot more time and I couldn't afford to pay 85/hour for a paint job that I think I could have done for much less. (So far I haven't had it done, so I can't be certain). This may have been a miscalculation on my part; perhaps I should have called a painter for this, rather than a handyperson, but I didn't think a painter would want to come out for just a ceiling. At a distance of three months from the date of the work, everything seems to be holding up well, except for one of the kitchen lights, which doesn't always work. I would probably use them again, but I'd keep a much sharper eye on the cost.

I had an excellent experience with Handyman Matters. I bought a coupon for 2 hours of service for $99. I contacted Bob at Handyman Matters and he replied almost immediately. He arranged for Rich to come the next week and do the work. Rich was very punctual, polite, efficient and skilled. He went to Home Depot for the materials needed, came back and fixed the roof. He had time left over and he fixed one light fixture and examined another that needed to be replaced. He used his time really well, cleaned up completely and was a pleasure to work with. I plan to use them again, and I highly recommend them to others.

I received a callback within the hour and set up the appointment for early the next week. Rich arrived right on time and got to work. He did a great job replacing the sills and also checked the gutters and pounded in several gutter nails while he was up there. Rich was very efficient, pleasant to deal with, and cleaned up the area before he left. I would readily recommend Rich and Handyman Matters for any carpentry or house-related maintenance. I plan to use them again next month on some other projects.

I purchased a coupon for two hours of handiman services for $99 and this was a very good experience. My appointment was at 11am and at 10:30 am I received a call from Rich, the Handiman who would be working on my project reporting that he was on the way to my house, and would be there soon. I really appreciated the courtesy of his calling me. Usually workers only call when they will be late. He was very punctual and extremely pleasant. He completed the carpet removal in the two hours which is what I expected, but he was so good that I asked if he would take on another project at his regular hourly rate. He agreed and worked on putting up my new window treatments in the livingroom. He was extremely neat and well organized. The old carpet was rolled up and tied compactly so it could easily be put out for my next garbage pick-up. Rick did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend him and the company.

I would have them back in a heart beat. I cannot speak highly enough of them. They were very accommodating.

Overall, the job was reasonably well done. The gentleman who did the repair was professional and on time, the cost was reasonable and as described, and the work was appropriately cleaned up. The quality of the carpentry work seemed good. The quality of the tile replacement was not as consistent. Several tiles were broken during their removal (this was to be expected). However, in reinstalling the various tiles or pieces, there were noticeable differences in the level of various tiles. Overall, the surface is a) level enough to be usable, and b) under the fridge so not particularly noticeable. However, a bit more care in the laying and leveling of the tile would have been good. I would probably provide an overall grade of A- if that choice were offered.

The guy who came was extremely courteous, clean, and professional. He did a really nice job on our ramp, and although it took longer than expected, he still did an excellent job.

They did some miscellaneous repair in the bathroom such as caulking, hanging up a toilet paper dispenser, etc. Fast and efficient. I have already recommended this service to another. Her experience was very positive as well. Both of us have tasks in the future where we plan on using their business.

Quote very high. Had water leaking into wall, took nearly a week to give quote. In the end , got another contractor to fix for a fraction of price.

After going to two different contractors to get some small projects done - one of the two left my home in worse shape than when he started (too bad there's no reverse mechanic's lien) - I decided to sign up for Angie's List. The recommendations led me to Handyman Matters and the reviews were understated if anything. Bob came out and gave me a quote, actual cost came in $4 over the quote - that's amazing accuracy, truly shows that Bob knows the scope of projects. It took a couple of weeks to schedule the job as I contacted Bob right before the holidays and I pushed it out a few weeks. Rich came out on the agreed day and did amazing work. He was extremely professional, polite and personable, which is comforting as he spent a couple of days in my home with my family. In fact he just left my house and I felt compelled to write this immediately. From start to finish these guys do a great job, set expectations and exceed those expectations. I'm a corporate exec, work in finance, and know all about value for money. Handyman Matters provides tremendous value for the money. I'll never go anywhere else. I'm also contemplating a very large addition and they'll be the first I call - I hope they can do the project. I highly recommend Handyman Matters, Bob and Rich.

Fine. It was a quick job, done well. The cost was a little high, but since I wanted it done quickly I was happy to pay a little more.

The process began slowly with some difficulties in getting the appointment set. It took several phone calls to get the appointment set. Once the person came to the house, the service was fantastic! Bruce was wonderful! We had him do several little projects throughout the house as well as the original project of caulking our tub and shower. All of these things were done within the 2 hours that we originally paid. Completely satisfied with the services provided.

The door looks great now, and we are happy with the finished result. The installation went fine and the door fits ok, it didn't close completely (mostly due to a missing striker plate on the door, and nothing to do with the install) and I fixed it fairly easily after the fact. HandyMan Matters was hired to do, what I consider a DIY job, because I did not have a table saw at the time. The table saw was totally necessary to cut the wood strips to decrease the door frame width. What I thought would be a two hour job, turned out to be a four hour job. As a result we were charged at the regular rate for the additional two hours. Not a huge deal because it really didn't break the bank. The finished project looks great, we were just a little annoyed at the additional time and cost.

I was extremely happy with the results. The shower looks amazing, I get a lot of compliments on it. They were very reliable, showed up on time and when they said they would. One of the workers had a health problem during the job which caused him to have to stop in the middle but Bob and another worker came and did all they could and finished the job as promised. I also feel they made some good suggestions as to how to do things that made it look really nice. Their pricing was competitive, similar to other estimates I got. I also hired them to do some work on a roof deck that needed some boards repaired and they did a great job with that. I do recommend that if you hire them, that you spell out exactly what it is that you want done. I wasn't quite specific enough in the beginning as to what I wanted and that caused some confusion but we worked everything out and Bob was extremely accommodating and completed everything I asked for in the end.

Mark was on time. He was very professional. I would use him again.

I bought the big deal from Angie's list, $99 for half day handyman service. When I contact them to make appointment I found out they don't do electrical work. I got refund.
