Description of Work: Brain came to give me an estimate on updating my home alarm system. I was anxious to use his company because numerous friends do. He is nice and prompt. We discussed 2 different types on ways to do the work. HE assured me he would send me 2 different estimates via email. I received only one. I sent multiple email requests to several different company email accounts asking for the other estimate (which was a much more expensive plan) and never got any response or follow up from the company. I then put in a total updated alarm system using another company. I was totally surprised by the lack of responsiveness.

Description of Work: We needed to upgrade our alarm system to include temperature sensors, etc. Being a subscriber to Angie's List, I decided to use its help. A relatively local company, Millennium, attracted my attention by excellent reviews and ratings so my husband called them exactly a week ago, October 1. He spoke with a pleasant woman for about 15 minutes describing our situation and requirements. We already had one estimate and asked them to come and give us the price and time estimates of theirs. We explained that we were under time pressure and have to decide quickly on how to proceed. We supplied our phone number and an email and were told that we would be contacted shortly after. We did not look for any other quotes and waited for them to call or email. Now we'll go to the first estimate provider with one week less of our available time period. I find this behavior inexcusable. If their schedule was so tight that they had no time for our business they still should've called us and said so. 10/12/2012 update after speaking with Valerie from Millennium. Valerie explained that she became very sick with flu and was not able to pass along our request for service to anybody else in the company. She came back to work on 10/9/12 and called us right away offering immediate help. It was too late for us as we already gave a deposit to the place that performed original estimates. We probably could've called ourselves to see why nobody contacted us for a week... In any case, I'm improving my rating from F to C as the place seems to be extremely concerned about its reputation and quality of service. And yes, I would try them again if I ever have a reason.

Description of Work: We called Millennium Alarm because we were very dissatisfied with our alarm company. Our alarm would go off for no apparent reason at any hour and my family was getting to the point where we were terrified that it would go off in the middle of the night and jolt us out of sleep ( which did happen). We had to make a change or just give up on having an alarm altogether and then through Angies List we found Millennium. This is a first rate company! The owner, Brian, gave us an estimate and talked it through with us to make sure we knew exactly what we were getting. Brian was able to incorporate the few working parts of our old alarm and install new elements to make sure that we got what we wanted out of this alarm system. He spent over 10 hours working the first day and another 2 hours the second day to put this system together! I cannot say enough about Brian, he listened to and addressed all of our concerns. He did not try to over sell us on anything and told us that we could always add on later. This company is fabulous on customer service. We are sooooo happy with our new alarm system.

 + -1 moreThey were fantastic. I almost didn't ask them for a quote because they are located pretty far from Somerville but they came highly recommended by my parents and other Angie's list members. I sent an email through their website one night and they called me the very next morning. They were very friendly and professional and agreed to come out within a few days for an estimate. Brian (the owner) came when promised and really spent a lot of time giving us advice, explaining our options and really trying to help us make an education decision without any pressure. Brian came exactly on time and installed the whole system in just a few hours. We have an old house and he really spent the time to pull wires and install sensors where they would work best and look good, regardless of how much time it took. He worked cleanly and did a great job on the install. Overall, great service and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

 + -1 moreSeveral weeks after the installation I called Brian about a certain setting in the system. He said it was his error and he'd be right over to fix it. He happened to be in the area, so he was at our door in 10 minutes and fixed the setting in a jiffy. Great customer service!
Description of Work: Brian Catino came to the house to review our needs, discuss options, and offer his advice. He spent a lot of time and didn't rush us nor try to sell us things we didn't need. He taught us how to use our existing system during this initial visit, before we even received his quote, much less agreed to the work. His monthly monitoring price is much better than the price quoted by a large, well-known national company, and the terms were much more flexible. Brian did the installation today. He was prompt, courteous, and helpful. He installed each detector where we wanted it, understanding that cosmetic appearance is important. He also gave us another round of instruction on using the system. I called him with a question an hour after he left; he returned my call promptly and had the information I needed.

Once I accepted the estimate, which we felt was very reasonable, he installed the new system within 2 days. Brian was professional, knowledgeable, and very courteous. He took his time to explain everything about the new system and how to operate it and did not mind answering our many questions. Becky in the office was also a pleasure to deal with

 + -1 moreSmooth and effortless. I had called two other alarm companies. Both of the companies just didn't match up to the service or quality that Millennium offered. I felt like I was ordering take out with the other services! The upfront cost was about the same with all of the companies. The monthly/yearly service contract was the best with Millennium Alarm.
Description of Work: I am so pleased with their service. They were very responsive with all calls and delivery of work. The project involved an assessment of our old home (1871). Followed by an estimate for a whole house alarm system with smoke detectors. The final phase was installation of both wireless and hardwire products.

 + -1 moreThey showed up when they said they would to do the conversion/installation, and we have been very happy. The system has been operating for about 4 months. It is easy to use and reliable. When it was first installed, the motion detector was too sensitive (went off because of a moving window blind three times), and they came out and adjusted it at no charge. We also had a couple of errors (our son came home from school and couldn't disable it one day because he punched in a wrong number), and they were great about providing phone tech support. The good news is that each of these errors resulted in a police response, and after the first month of us adjusting to the system, we have had no false alarms.
Description of Work: They converted an existing ADT system to their network. They replaced a missing motion detector, added a contact to one window, replaced some batteries, and did alarm monitoring for one year.

 + -1 moreWe called ahead of moving into our new house, and they were very courteous over the phone. They came out as scheduled and walked through to assess my needs. They got back to me very quickly with an estimate, and once approved scheduled the work to be completed in less than a week. Jarrod Boyden who came out to do the work was very polite and efficient. Not only did he complete all the required work in a very short time, he even helped us out by fixing another problem we were having! He has continued to be very helpful in answering my questions regarding the alarm system whenever I call. I like having the continuity of dealing with the same person at a company.

Jared, the installer, was very neat, left us no clean-up to do, explained the operation of the system, and followed-up with a phone call to make sure everything was ok. A very positive experience overall, and at a great price!

 + -1 moreI could not imagine a better experience having an alarm system installed. And this was true despite the complicated conditions under which they installed it, due to some renovation work that was being done at the same time. I had talked with both other alarm companies, and Millennium's price is highly competitive (especially when you pay in advance in for monitoring), and their style is helpful and personal. I really feel that they (owner, office staff, installer) have something like my best interests at heart. They were even willing to do something that other companies were not willing to do: install two monitored fire alarms. I would recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: They came out and worked with me to determine the best way to configure a security system, gave me a price that they stuck to!, and installed the entire system within the week, including giving me a thorough tutorial in using the system. Then, after I had the system a few days, they followed up to make sure I was happy with it and really knew how to use it.

WHENEVER I ACCIDENTALLY SET OFF THE ALARM, THEY CALL TO CHECK ON THINGS IMMEDIATELY, EVEN IF I ENTER THE PASSWORD TO OVERRIDE THE ALARM. THEIR SERVICE IS TIMELY, EXCELLENT AND COURTEOUS. COST OF MONITORING (AS OF EARLY 2004) IS $15.95 A MONTH, WITH SUBSTANTIAL DISCOUNTS FOR PAYING ANNUALLY.
