Well the contractor like most contractors seem interested to get the job until of course they got the job then their customer service changed. HomePros never pulled a permit which they said they would. 75% of all worked preformed had to be redone a second time because of the poor workmanship and finished look of the job. Here is a few of those items. Ceiling, interior wall, exterior wall, and they ordered the wrong window size as well. The owner Randall spent very little time at all on the job site and was very difficult to reach once they had been given the job. The quality and fished product did not match the work that was advertised on their website. Ultimately I signed off on the job as happy however I would never higher this company again and would greatly advise those against it. The owners son was however very professional and took extra time and effort to correct the poor finished look of the work that the supposedly experienced worker was done with. His customer service is what convinced me to sign off on the job as done and satisfied. There was nothing else they could do to make it better so it didn’t make sense to me to drag out this job. In closing I would say at very best this company is capable of handyman work but not anything close to a full remodeling contractor. Buyer Beware!!’

The finished room is very nice, but communication between staff was often poor which translated to miscommunication with us as homeowners. Billing is poor at best.....payments incorrectly applied, double charges on invoices, and we have reason to believe we were charged for a premium product under our new roof that was not actually installed. Workers were not always respectful with our home....leaving the work site with muddy floors, washing paint brushes in our kitchen sink and using homeowner supplies and not returning them.

Job had unusual aspects-- historic district with special constraints, in-kind repairs on 75-year-old house. This company just wasn't up to it. Use for simple jobs, make sure anything you care about is totally specified in advance, and get several quotes-- this area is full of guys with nail guns and a Home Depot account who can do work this well for less. They did cooperate with a large change during the job which I would not have gotten from a big-box installation crew, although it ultimately caused so much conflict that the job was cancelled. Summary: 1) Poor knowledge of materials, 2) Poor knowledge of current construction standards, 3) Poor organization and inaccurate hourly work billing, 4) Inadequate permitting, 5) Mediocre workmanship, 6) Inadequate quotes. Because this is a negative review, I'm giving specific examples of each of these claims: 1a) Soffit returns (corners) needed repair. Owner Randy Heath (RH) insisted it was not possible to buy matching 1940-vintage soffit crown moulding, custom milling too expensive, so we must replace entire house crown moulding and adjacent trim, of which 95% was fine Pushed to upgrade to expensive PVC- was talking $4000+ but never gave me written quote. Would also require additional permissions from Historical Commission. I spent 30 minutes on internet, found exact moulding match at Anderson and McQuaid in Cambridge, about $100 for all needed. No one at HomePros had ever heard of this well-known millworks. An argument can be made for expensive zero-maintenance PVC, but he stated I had no reasonable choice and that was not true. 1b) 5 of 7 planned windows were subject to Historical Commission approval, and required careful planning of features and sizing. From start I gave personal preference to avoid inserts. RH simply didn't know the products, repeatedly pushing mediocre Harvey replacement/inserts without any data. RH finally got a Harvey rep to provide sizing data after I made clear I would not proceed otherwise. After doing lots of research myself, I finally just cancelled the critical 5. Two better-appearance Andersen windows were later re-included due to concerns with existing windows, I did sizing because RH refused to take responsibility for it, and disagreements over unclear quote phrasing about charges finally killed job. It is possible to work out window size details I needed with product specs available at Harvey/Andersen showrooms and basic arithmetic. I did it with no prior experience and any competent contractor should be able to. 2) 30 minutes googling "soffit vent size" and you'll know more than anyone at HomePros about correct soffit vent sizing, critical for avoiding ice dams. I finally had to just tell them what size and how many vents to install, complicated by their carpenter mis-measuring soffit width. From past work I knew soffits had insulation debris in them, insisted contract specify cleanout when roof was off. Their employee flatly lied to me about doing it (confirmed months later when the vents started falling out and insulation blocking vents fell out with them). HomePros first offered a small reduction to compensate, but reneged on it in final invoice. 3a) RH set up a complicated schedule the crew was unfamiliar with, crew telling me repeatedly that RH had not briefed them on his plan, and asking me what they were supposed to do. RH subsequently blamed me for misdirecting them when confusion resulted. They were often badmouthing each other and were contemptuous of RH behind his back. 3b) Part of job was billed by time and materials. They had a smartphone app they failed to use properly, but insisted was accurately tracking job. RH first claimed over 100 hours of additional labor, reduced to small fraction of that after I used notes and photos I'd taken day-by-day to verify to myself that most of claimed time was spent on fixed-price quote work. 4) No permit was ever posted on site. RH claimed town was at fault by not issuing permits for 3-4 weeks, and finally emailed me a scan of permit for roof work the town had stamped "copy" and resent him after I'd complained. I later discovered he'd never had roofing work final inspection and permit closed, although claiming and billing for fully completed work. I cancelled job after 2 windows delivered but not installed, and later found he'd never even applied for window permit. He claimed it was because I kept changing my mind, but town told me permit could have been issued and be valid including changes. I later got permit myself for windows, and it took 3 days. 5) Yard protection and cleanup was inadequate-- after requesting additional cleanup afterwards, I still filled 5 gallon bucket with countless small roof debris from lawn and gardens, including nails, in month after they'd gone. Work quality was mediocre. Posting 3 photos typical of roofing work-- one peak has 3 seams in drip edge within 4 feet, and photos are hard to interpret, but show drip edge was not tight to roof many places- fast, sloppy nailgun work easy to avoid. 6) Quotes were unclear and incomplete specification of materials, breakdown of specific costs, and details of work. I let stuff slide on good faith (that good Angie's List rating!) and after a dispute over whether poor quote phrasing meant cost of additional windows was included in additional quote or my separate responsibility, I gave up and cancelled job 2/3 done. After they reduced large labor overcharges, I paid invoice in full to be rid of them but giving specific written objections to several large charges, which they ignored.

It looks good but he didn't pull any permits, took a short cut on wiring the exhaust fan/ light and put it all on one switch instead of splitting it like it was supposed to be. Came home One day to find my house keys were in the street and run over and when asked about it said oh where did you find those. Came home another day to find they had left for the day and had left my back door not only unlocked but propped open.

We made an appointment for a Tuesday for him to come look at the house. Tuesday rolls around and I totally blanked on the appt (it was at 8:00am). I called immediately when I realized after I had already left the house for work at about 7:15. The guy said it was good I called and that he hadnt left yet. I asked to reschedule the appt and he said something about not having his schedule in front of him so he wasnt sure what time he would be able to come out. He told me he would call me back to reschedule it. He never called me and I never bothered calling him because if he truly wanted the business he would've called me back instead of just blowing me off. Ended up going with Eyles Construction for the addition to the house as they actually returned my calls.

Yes!! I appreciated the call 1/2 hour before appointment. I did not have my schedule in front of me due to the fact I was driving to the appointment. I was trying to be polite and accommodating. We all get busy and forget. We aren't perfect. I did forget to call back as they forgot our appointment. Couldn't they have called back to reschedule, after all, who forgot about the appointment in the first place. Sorry they felt "blown off", but my time is valuable too. I certainly didn't feel that way because sometimes you just have to give people the benefit of the doubt. PLEASE NOTE: This review is dated 3 months after the proposed appointment date of 6/1/2017. (see above) I guess some people have nothing better to do on a Saturday night then try to discredit an "A" rated company. Please read all of our other GREAT reviews. Thank you.

To complete the job Homepros subcontracted another company to remove the granite counters so that they could work on the cabinets. That company successfully removed the counters and then Homepros repaired the cabinets. However, they decided to reinstall the granite themselves, rather than using the subcontractor that I had paid for. In the process, they broke granite - the two homepro workers advised me that they had never handled granite before. The owner repeatedly told me that it was always a possibility that the granite could break, however that is why we hired the experienced granite subcontractor, to mitigate that chance. Afterwards, the owner of Homepros refused to work with me on splitting the cost to replace the broken granite and stopped returning my calls. I ended up purchasing new granite for the entire kitchen and hiring another company to install the backsplash tile and complete the job. Very unprofessional and a disappointing end to our business transaction.
Description of Work: I hired Homepros to fix the base cabinets in my kitchen and to apply backsplash tile.

Thank you [Member Name Removed]and [Member Name Removed]!! Look forward to building your three season porch and deck.
I contacted five different contractors and only three were willing to come to do the estimate. Among the three contractors who came, one never gave me the estimate despite repeated emails and messages, and the second contractor who came reluctantly gave me an estimate that was so ridiculously inflated that we simply could not afford it. Randy was the only contractor who was responsive and professional, and was very honest with his estimate and most importantly willing to work with us to make our budget to work for our project. The project went well, although it started later than all of us expected due to scheduling issue, but the entire project was completed pretty much on-time still. Randy is a very talented plumber, he was able to somehow connect the plumbing in our tiny new bathroom with very little space to work with. The team did a great job for tiling the bathroom floors, both bathrooms look great. I still do not know how they managed to put the new bath tub and shower unit in so perfectly in the tight spaces, I am just glad that they are good at it. They also gave us good ideas how to maximize our limited space, for example by installing a recessed mirror/medicine cabinet. We now have two tidy and functioning full baths that look great, thanks to the HomePros Construction Team.

With so many contractors to choose from, our decision to go with HomePros paid off. The attention to detail was good. We love our new kitchen, especially the tiled wall in back of the butcher block. I contacted Randal in late Sept-early Oct. He came out and saw the work, said he could do it and would get a quote to me by the end of the week. It was late. Although he wanted a 50% deposit, which I think is high, he'd assured me he could get to the job before winter set in, which was important because so much of the work was outside. So I sent a $750 deposit within a couple of days. He'd originally said it'd be 6 weeks before he could work me in. When I hadn't heard anything by mid-December I called him. It took him a week to get back to me and he had all sorts of excuses why he hadn't gotten to my work....one guy quit, someone else had an on the job injury, etc. He said he could make me a priority "right after the holidays" or he could refund my deposit. I asked if he refunded would that take me out of the work queue and he said yes so I decided to wait him out. Didn't hear anything the first week of January and now we've had snow. Since he's effectively had a $750 unsecured loan from me I'm now asking for my money back + $28 interest (at prevailing rate). Certainly not "super service".
Description of Work: I had several things that needed to be done, including replacing trim and weatherstripping (there is none) around garage doors, placing fascia boards on front of house, repairing corner where portico roof meets house, and replacing wheels on slider. Then there was a small interior painting job.

The project went rather smoothly. We were squeezed in during peak season, which was a blessing for us, as we had a new baby on the way. This resulted in less staff than anticipated. It ended up taking the guys a few more weeks to complete the project, than initially quoted. However, the price remained on point. Randy was up front with us with regarding any change orders we requested. He let us know if the changes were cost effective and often times provided his expert opinion. The guys we had here on a daily basis were extremely professional, punctual, and kept the space as clean as possible. They had the utmost respect for our home. They took their time and did everything 'by the books'. We are very pleased with the quality of work we received. We will definitely use them again for future reno projects.
Description of Work: This past summer we hired HomePros to finish a room above our garage. It was an unfinished space, with one access point - through our bedroom. Shortly after contacting HomePros, Randy came by to take a look at the space and quickly outlined a thorough vision for us. He provided an accurate cost estimate and started less than a week later. The unfinished space was transformed from an attic/storage space to a gorgeous dressing/sitting room off of our bedroom. We were thrilled! The room includes custom made shelving, two custom built oversized seats w/built in storage, and a crawl space for additional storage.

Home Pros came into the project after the design was complete and the initial contractor and I had parted ways. Randy (owner) was very responsive and his crew started the demolition quickly. When it turned out that the cabinets, that had been ordered by the independent designer (not Home Pros), had the wrong finish, Randy was very patient and flexible, doing as much as possible prior to the correct cabinet doors/panels arriving a month or so later. His carpenter John Lyons, and his assistant Danielle were very detailed oriented, and actually reconfigured my island to use one slab of granite and allow for 4 seats, which I greatly appreciated. They also did a great job glazing installed pieces of the kitchen to match the newly arrived pieces with the correct finish. The electrician, Fergal McClelland, was wonderful. He was incredibly efficient and had great advice. I was also very impressed when Randy immediately hired a new plumber once issues arose with the initial plumber in order to get the job done right and on time. Home Pros did a great job and I especially appreciated their focus on customer satisfaction every step of the way. I am very pleased with the end result and would definitely recommend (and have) Home Pros for any remodeling/construction projects.
Description of Work: We had our kitchen remodeled and floors in 3 rooms refinished. It was a complete gut of the old kitchen and installation of new cabinets, an island, a widow seat, propane line from backyard pool tanks to cook-top, appliances, lighting in two rooms, back-splash tiling and plumbing new sink and kick heater.

Very well, he quickly got us a written estimate, we agreed on a contract a few days later. The start was timely and there was no problem with having carpenters on site, and getting them access as needed. The quality of the work was very good even though there were some big granite stairs that had to be moved. It was finished in time. The building inspector signed off and the appearance of the renovation is excellent.

They gutted and remodeled a full bath, adding a window, new stone floor, subway tile and gorgeous fixtures and details, all the while making the room safe and handicap accessible so mom could move in. To accommodate a last minute request, Randy and his crew were able to install bamboo flooring throughout mom's "wing" in a very short timeframe, making one 87 year old feel very special on move-in day. They offered design suggestions and added creative touches. The finished product is superb and we couldn't be happier. Everyone was very professional and I saw the same two workers consistently, which made me more comfortable during the 3 week construction process. We are already planning our next remodel and looking forward to working with HomePros again.

It did not go too well. He kept saying to get back to him on the estimate and he would not get back to us for the change. He told us that he was working somewhere else and that his men would be busy until November. I called him around then to follow up and he didn't respond till he told us he would hire somebody else to do the job. That's when I called him back and he said I should just try and find someone else. That was the end of how that went with him.
Description of Work: I tried to work with him a couple times. He came out once but getting him back was too difficult. We submitted an estimate at the end of August. We did not receive a response regarding the estimate until the end of September at which time I was clear, due to a large job we had already started, that I did not have the man power to accommodate the time frame in which she needed the work complete. I suggested a competent finish carpenter that might have been able to complete the work within her time frame. I never heard back from her again......until now. 6 months later!

This was a significant disruption in our lives, but Randy and his team were always pleasant, courteous, and fun to be around. They gladly explained all that they needed to do. The project lasted five weeks. The weather hampered work for five or six of the 25 days. Luckily, the weather held off during the roofing portion of the project. We went with premium shingles and siding; and the results are beautiful. My wife and I are very happy with the results. When we can afford it, we are very likely to contact HomePros to rebuild our deck.
Description of Work: 1) Removed old roofing; made repairs; installed new ice&water shield; installed new shingles on our house (a cape). 2) Removed old siding; made repairs; installed new house wrap; installed new vinyl siding on our house (a cape). 3) Replaced rear entry door. 4) Painted all exterior trim.

Randy and his crew did great work and the attention to detail was fantastic. There were no corners cut and everything we expected came to fruition. The crew was creative, innovative and talented in their craft. Overall we are very pleased with the product. Perhaps the only flaw was in the time it took to complete all of the work. With that said, the delays were well communicated and I wouldn't classify these delays as anything too problematic and more a result of a busy crew that also worked around unforeseen issues that can be encountered with any major home renovation. Overall, Well done!

EXCELLENT !!! My husband and I found Homepros on Angies List and could not be more satisfied with the Randy, the job, workers, and the outcome of our house. We had Gary, Oscar, Jay and Gerard on the job every day, on time, curtious, professional and willing to answer any questions that we had. When I first met Randy I voices my worries. He assured me that he understood my concerns and that him and the crew he sent to the house would deliver the best looking house on the street. Well I must say he did not disappoint my expectations. It has been a few weeks since the job has been completed and we have neighbors from other streets stopping by to let us know that our house is beautiful, we even have people driving by asking who did the job and how beautiful the house is. We are looking to remodel the kitchen in the future and I must say Randy and his crew are coming back for that job. My husband and I would like to thank Randy again for being so honest and upfront with us and was very helpful in this project. Thank you and see you soon.

I was very pleased with the work done by HomePro's Construction. Randal and his crew were very professional, punctual and the quality of their completed work is great. They showed up when they said they would, they cleaned up after themselves and left no messes . I would definitely use them for future work.
