VERY WELL, Fast, Clean great workmenship

This is the second time I've used David Carlino & Son, Inc. to stain/paint my house and he has stained/painted my son's house once. I am a pretty fussy guy, for whom the best is not good enough. Having grown up in the construction business I have worked with many painters over the years, some good, some not so good. In my opinion, Carlino is the best. His crew is always well supervised. They are neat, clean and respectful. The washing of the houses (pre-staining) took much more time than they anticipcated, but they did it over and over again until they and I were satisfied. They picked up each night and left the place in an orderly manner, taking with them all refuse. I have no reservation in recommending them to anyone.

He did a great job going through the hoops with the building inspector and was maticulous with the finish work.

all work was completed within 10 days of contact and took only 21/2 days. answered my inquiry and gave quote within a couple of days. Stayed true to estimate. Good workmanship. Very pleased.

.If we saw something that we wanted adjusted, they made no qualms about doing it. They arranged their breaks so I had time to get ready for work (2nd shift) and were very obliging when we needed something from the whatever part of the house they were working. The price might seem a bit high, but we had a special treatment done to the living room which took time and additional material. Because we have quality wood paneling in the house, they make sure the covered everything with plastic (more material used than in a normal setting). At the end, the owner did a walk through with us and we were very happy with the work performed. The only downside is this: they are in great demand and if you are in a hurry to get the work done, you have to let them know up front, otherwise you may have to wait. In our case, the wait was worth the end result!

Matt Carlino was asked to quote painting two interior rooms and hallways. Also staining the exterior of the house and garage. He walked around the inside and outside of the home. He did not take any measurements. Then he explained that he would complete an estimate and when I had all my estimates from other contractors he would come back in person and present his esimate to us. Four other contractors were gracious enough to present a estimate to us without any stipulations. I believe Mr. Carlino wanted to see the other prices quoted before he would offer his. We did not invite him back. We consider such behavior as a "no quote" for the job.

Spoke with David Carlino himself. He did the job for less than our other estimates we had received and he did it within a few days after our phone conversation. The crew was quiet and considerate, as it was about 7:30 am when they arrived! They arrived on time, accomplished the job within the time they said it would take, and did a great job! The crew cleaned up after themselves and you never would have known they were here except for the clean siding on our home!! Very pleased!

I did not use him for the above reason. I am waiting for estimates from other painters on Angie's lost.

Terrific. Matt Carlino is iPhone and internet savvy...communication is extremely easy and fast. The jobs were beautifully done. His prices are reasonable. The crew is polite, presentable and hard-working. There is a job foreman assigned as well, who does quality checking and answers questions (Matt was also very good with answering questions). They did what they said they would do and showed up on time to do it ! No messes to clean up when they were gone; like they were never there except the building looked great. There was no effort to "up sell" the job. Now having Carlino do several much larger jobs (i.e., more expensive).

There were several imperfections that showed up, but this was mostly due to the previous drywall contractor, not this painter. This job was new construction. They worked during the day and I inspected at night. I am sure the difference in lighting, showed me things they couldn't see well during the day. They did a pretty good job of completing my puchlist and sorting out the drywall contractor's issues as they agreed to do during the initial bid walk-through. I am happy overall and I think I got what I paid for.

Painting crew was very professional, on time and on budget. Crew showed up early one morning and painted entire interior of house from top to bottom in 4 days. Everything was perfect. They did a good job in short time frame. This is the second time I have used David Carlino and sons, both experiences were perfect. I would recommend this company to anybody looking for a good quick painting job done on time and budget.

I made the mistake of signing a contract for time and materials. Big mistake. The actual cost of the work done was $3,000 - $4,000 more than the written estimate and they did not even do the work on the decks that was supposed to be included. In addition they did not deduct the coupon for 16 hours of carpentry which they said they would. The Carlino son, may have been David, promises the world but do not agree to work with them unless you agree on a price in advance. They also charged me for two hours of the foreman's time just to come look at the "scope" of the job, despite the fact that Carlino had already been out there. Two hours of time for NO work being done. Ridiculous. They delayed the job so long that they ended up saying in October that it would not be a good idea to stain the decks and of course to date, that is, the following year almost June, I have not heard a word from them. The quality of the painting was good but I feel I was completely ripped off. Mind you I paid over $9,000 just to have the TRIM done on my 2200 square foot house. Just the trim. I am chalking this up to a learning experience and moving on, a lot lighter in the pocketbook however. Fs given for punctuality and professionalism as several days where the foreman said he would be there, he did not show up, with no call. Also because when I spoke to Mr. Carlino about the price being so outrageously high, he would not back down insisting that is how many hours his crew worked (despite the HUGE difference in his estimate). He then said they would do the decks without additional hours being charged however, when it came down to it, they balked saying if they just put stain over the top of the peeling stain, it would not look good (true) but that the contract did not include prepping the deck for stain. Really? Mr. Carlino saw the state of the decks before working up the contract and simply said that they would "come out beautiful". You would think he might have mentioned that they might need to be sanded and that would not be included? So, in my book, that is an F for professionalism. Then, we decided to go ahead and stain them to protect the wood (they are cedar), they said it was too late in the season. I am not surprised that I haven't heard from them and that is really fine because we are moving on.

We had a large crew working inside and outside the house for over a week. Everyone was professional, friendly and acccommodating. Their work was excellent and they cleaned up after themselves every day. I would not hesitate to have Carlino & Sons back again.
