 + -1 moreMr. Werba arrived 5 minutes early. I explained the issue and he immediately knew what the problem was. He realigned my front door by putting in longer hinge pins, changed the lockset and gave me two sets of new keys.
Description of Work: I was unable to lock my exterior front door either from the inside or the outside. I tried lifting it with a screw driver and putting shims between the threshold and the door. Nothing worked and lack of security was the major concern. Additionally, I wanted the lock set changed.

I had used a random one to change the locks on my new condo, and the work was so shoddy, that I had to find someone else to fix it, and I wanted to find someone competent, without any hassle. I got ASAP Lock & Key's name off of Angie's List. I chose ASAP Lock & Key because they were local. I was able to arrange for them to come within a day or two of my calling. Moshe did the work quickly, efficiently, competently, and for a very reasonable price. I was extremely happy with ASAP Lock and Key, and realize they were what I was looking for in the first place. I highly recommend them and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I had hired a random locksmith to come and change my locks when I moved into my new condo. The work was so shoddy that all the locks the guy worked on were no longer working within a few months. It turns out that, thinking I had called a local company, I had inadvertently gotten scammed by one of these locksmiths that put local listings everywhere, but are really out of New Jersey- they sent a guy that was incompetent, and I was way overcharged for the work. A friend recommended Angie's List to find a new locksmith, which I did- and found ASAP Lock & Key, reviewed here. Moshe tweaked one of the broken locks until it was working correctly, and on another lock, replaced the (incorrect) cylinder previously put in By the crooked locksmith with the correct one. He also added a few other things to the lock that were missing. He charged less than 1/3 of what the crooked locksmith charged. He also warned me of the poor quality of one of the locks, advised me to change it at some point, but didn't pressure me to do it right then.

We didn't ask for an estimate, we knew he was honest and fair. Once again, he earned an A, which I don't give out for just doing the job.
Description of Work: Replaced a deadbolt with a door knob. Fixed one door knob so that it latched properly. Then installed another door knob. I only provided one door knob.

 + -1 moreWell, when I called, the owner, Moishe, was away on vacation so I was a bit apprehensive. But his replacement, a very knowledgeable gentleman from France was excellent. He worked in a very efficient manner, went out of his way to align an old lock, re-keyed two other locks and I found his price very reasonable. All in all, the best locksmith experience I have ever had. This alone was worth joining Angie's list.

 + -1 moreOriginally I asked for an estimate to rekey the five locks for a condo we had just purchased. Once we were in the condo we realized that we had a mixture of different locks, two of which we had no key. Moshe quickly (he was actually running back and forth between the doors and up and down the stairs) assessed the different locks and chose the most efficient way to get all five locks on one key. He had everything with him, the right keys, and new locks which we didn't anticipate needing. It was all completed in under 2 hrs. and everything was very smooth. The cost was very reasonable for the extra parts and time required and for such top quality work.
Description of Work: Re-engineered the 5 hodge-podge locks for our new condo to all use one new key. Had to replace two locks and one cylinder to make it work. Made us six copies of our new key.

 + -1 moreThe whole process, from the initial call to the work being completed, went very well. The person who had drilled out the cylinder did not have one long enough to replace it, and said I needed to get one 2" long. When I called Moshe and told him the situation, he was surprised about the size of the cylinder but said he would pick one up that afternoon and be over the following morning. When he spoke to the supply house and found out how much it would cost -- well over $200 -- he called me and had me measure the door, plate, etc. He said 2" would be too big and he would bring a smaller one. He showed up the next morning as scheduled -- a little early, in fact -- and replaced the cylinder quickly. The one he had was still a bit longer than necessary, but he had a ring in his truck to compensate and it looks perfect. He was pleasant, efficient and charged a very reasonable amount for the service call.
Description of Work: Moshe replaced a lock cylinder that had been drilled out (to let me in after I locked myself out) and matched it to my existing key.
