Mr Fix It Handyman

Lorenzo and his helper were very knowledgeable, polite, and did great work. They were very thorough in making sure that the sink was installed perfectly. Everything lines up and works perfectly. I was very impressed with the work overall and the great cleanup job at the end. They explained everything very clearly and answered all of my questions. I felt very comfortable having them in my house.

We needed a new kitchen faucet installed as the old one was leaking. I spoke with Lorenzo on the phone, explained what we needed done and he told me what to buy prior to his visit. He showed up on time (just when he said he would be there) and put the faucet in for us. No hassles, no problems. He cleaned up everything and the faucet works great. Although this service was inexpensive as we bought a coupon for Mr. Fix It through Angie's List (3 hours for $89), I have other jobs, such as putting up a chandelier in our very tall hallway, that I am definitely going to call Lorenzo to do. And I will be happy to pay him his regular hourly rate. I definitely recommend him.

I was totally impressed with the professionalism of Mr. Fixit. I had 3 phone calls and a couple of emails to schedule and reschedule the job when I was not able to keep the original appointment. Dave called in the AM before he got here, completed all jobs not only to my satisfaction but was 100% committed to making sure things were done the way I preferred. He also made suggestions and did extra work in order to improve my project. I have already talked with him about returning for another full day of projects that I would like done. Very professional outfit, from carpentry to cutting to simple handyman chores. Dave does it all with the touch and attitiude of a skilled professional. .

He was very honest and he was quick. He was very friendly and very nice. He was very good. He came in and talked about what he wanted to do. I wanted cabinets removed and he did it in a record amount of time. I had time left over for my 4 hrs so he was able to come back and put in a new door upstairs. He cleaned up afterwards. I paid $99 for 4 hrs. I would absolutely recommend him to other members.

Ren worked steadily and effeciently to accomplish the job. I was very pleased with results.

The repairman was an amazing guy. He was efficient, good and reasonable.

Lorenzo ( Mr. Fix It Man) came by within a few hours of my call to look over the job. We discussed the time and the job and how to get it all done within the timeframe I needed. He stuck to the agreement to the letter and I gave them both a little chocolate surprise for their hard work in addition to the pay they earned. I would love to work with them again and will hire them for future work in my business.

I needed to have the carpet and padding removed before having a floating floor installed. Lorenzo and Anna were great! They moved the furniture back and forth because I don't have the space to move it out of each room. They took up the tack strips, scraped the glue off the cement foundation which held the foam padding under the carpet in place. They did a thorough job of putting the carpet and other debris in a place that will be convenient for removal and swept up all the debris. They are high energy people and great to work with.

The work went very quickly. He double checked everything before he left and looked a other projects that he will return to do.

First contacted Mr. Fix It on 5/15/12. Forwarded long list of jobs to him. No response. Recontacted him on 5/31/12. Made appointment to review list and prioritize. On 6/1/12, new toilet installed. Was told cost "came to" $245. Requested receipt (a photo was sent) Receipt showed items that were not for my job, but for other customers. I was charged $755 for toilet purchase and installation and the repair of rotted wood at front door. Hmmm! After 2 hours of work, Mr. Fix It requested a break and a snack or lunch (which was provided) and he invited me to join him and his friend on my porch! They left at 1:15PM. But not before we struggled to make plans for further work. Mr. Fix It wanted to start the wallpaper stripping, where I was quoted $3000, then $2000 and finally $1200 which was still over the top. This job was not a priority for me, so after much discussion, he decided he would do the mirror repair "for free" and charge me an additional $165 to replace the hinges. He then changed his mind and said he would charge $100 for the hinges because "I quoted too much"! I had a $50.00 coupon which he examined and then agreed to the $50.00 deduction. I also reminded him of the 15% senior discount he shows on his web page...to no avail. He returned the $50.00 to me with a fluorish! (But was only too happy to take it back when I offered the next day) The work on the two minor jobs (mirror repair and hinge replacement ) was completed in 3 hours. I was the assistant and provided all materials as I had done for the other projects. Do the math! And Mr. Fix It's hourly rate (for me!) was $60.00/ hr. (after a deduction for the "estimated" cost of the toilet) All labor was unskilled. Slightly over 10 man hours were utilized. (including "toilet pick up and delivery") Despite Mr. Fix It's initial enthusiasm (quite jolly and for good readon), the long list of jobs awaits. I am disappointed. From other reviews, I was assured of a fair outcome, just didn't happen in my case! PS: paperwork for toilet lost in the shuffle! he then provided a single sheet saying he took it out of a box at the store and made a copy and put the copy back in the "new box". Not so according to the store and they are seeking the intact package from Kohler for me.

The straight "A's" I gave him says it all. We will definitely choose him again for future projects.

He was very pleasant to work with, and he did a good job. He had a really good attitude. His prices and quality of work were excellent. I'll continue to use his services in the future.

Mr. Gardner is very professional - punctual, polite, collaborative. His finish work with mitering, etc. was precise and extremely well done. He did a fabulous job!!

Our traditional porch overhang soffit was severely rotted to the point squirrels lived in it. I joined Angie’s List and found Mr. Fix It Handyman. I called on a Saturday morning 4/28 to request an estimate to repair the soffit as well as other repairs around the exterior of the house and property. He promptly came the next day, Sunday morning 4/29. He emailed the total estimate for all the repairs Sunday evening. The total estimate exceeded our budget and I replied to request an estimate solely for the soffit repair. He returned an estimate of $800.00. “Shame on me once” for not recognizing on horrifically overpriced estimate; but, I was desperate to fix the soffit. A deposit of $400.00 was sent to Mr. Fix It Handyman to repair the soffit. Repairs were expertly done on Wednesday, 5/2. He called me on Thursday 5/3 asking how the repairs looked and where the deposit was. I replied that the repairs were great and the deposit was sent by online bill pay, Monday evening 4/30, with an expected delivery date of Friday 5/4. During the conversation, shamefully, I negotiated a reduction of $100.00 from the remaining payment because I thought it was overpriced. The remaining payment of $300.00 was sent by online bill pay on Friday, 5/4. Regardless of his reason for overpricing the work, I will not request further work from Mr. Fix It Handyman.

Within a week off my first contact the job was completed. I was extremely pleased with the results and am planning on hiring them again.

The project took several days. He had two helpers which made the projects go more quickly. The workers were professional and respectful and made it a point not to disturb me unless necessary. They purchased the materials (I then paid for them) which they used but checked with me on colors. Overall, it was a very good experience.

Ren was prompt and efficient. The work was all done the way we wanted it done. I would hire him again.

I met Mr. Fix it Handyman through ?The Big Deal? purchase about 1 month ago for 8 hours of service to try him out for a number of tasks I have been putting off doing myself -- some of which are beyond by current capabilities. The day Mr. Fix-it (Lorenzo) arrived with his helper, we went over some of the things I wanted done to see what could be for "The Big Deal" and what he had the capability of doing beyond that. One job was to replace several vinyl siding panels which were damaged, which he started right away. Before I could tell him to stagger the replacement panel sections away from seams in adjacent panels, he was telling me that it should be done that way (perfect!) Lorenzo and his helper completed the task in 4 hours (bravo! 4 hours left to spend on starting the next job) The next task was to remove (level off) a raised platform section on my deck which was used for a Jacuzzi by the previous homeowner. I didn?t need it and was a tripping hazard for family and guests. Lorenzo told me it would take more than 4 hours to complete, and we worked out a reasonable additional cost for the job, which he came back to do another day. I really admired that he took care removing all the lumber so he could reused all the floor boards and joists (wow). I only had to buy one board, some screws and new joist hangers to complete the job. I watched the process of de-construction and it was amazing. Lorenzo and his helper removed all old nails, old hangers and ripped down the removed joists to refit them. Some spots were a bit higher?no problem?he pulls out a portable electric planer and shaves under each high spot. (double wow) I must say I was so impressed with the completed work that I hired him to power wash and stain the deck next week as weather permits, but that will be another report. Bottom line: Lorenzo is an excellent craftsman, who is professional, honest, reasonable, punctual, and organized.And fun to be around, to boot. Another GREAT job by Ren! The replaced tiles look perfect and he was able to fix a door situation that another contractor screwed up! We've used Mr. Fix-it on several occasions and it was always a professional experience. And we WILL be using his services again soon.

He came on time. He did a very, very good job. He was nice enough to even give me a ride to the bank so that I could pay him for the money charged for gas.

I got an estimate the same day I called and he rehung the gutter two days later. I had an unexpected car expense that made me have to delay the second project. I would have no problem using him again or recommending him to others.

-He arrived within a couple of days-I must take part of the responsibility for the problem that ensued (I left the working out of the details to my wife) she called me and told me the job would be $150 which I felt was a fair price-The job was started and when I got home, I found out the materials were $150 and that Mr Fix It already had 4 billable hours into the job and I had a pile of lumber and no railing at that point (his Big Deal coupon for $129 for 4 hours labor had also disappeared from the Angie's list availability even though it was supposed to still be available)-I believe it ended up to be a 6 hour job when all was done (I never got a receipt)-so the $150 job became a $525 job-the railing is nice but not $525 nice- As with any contractor, get a written proposal before starting the work

Mr. Fix It and his lovely and gracious assistant arrived on time at the prearranged hour. After a brief but thorough consulataion and examination of the problem, he advised me as to what would probably need to be done. He also was very clear and thorough in explaining to me some complications that we might encounter before he even dismantled the old equipment, so I would be well-informed and if necessary, prepared for the needed repairs. He respectfully waited for my go-ahead before removing the old toilet, since we anticipated complications. After I gave the go-ahead, he and his assistant removed the toilet in the neatest and least disruptive way possible-- his assistant even taking the time and care to ladle out the excess standing water and put it down the drain instead of allowing it to spill onto the floor. They also removed the bathmat and the shower curtain, which I thought was very respectful and made my after-service cleanup MUCH easier. When it had been removed and the problem exposed, Mr. FIx It took the time to show me what was necessary to repair the problem while his assistant took the old porcelain outside and smashed it up into little pieces that would fit into my recycle bin. She then swept the area completely clean; another extra touch I sincerely appreciated! They went to the store to purchase the new toilet after discussing the pros and cons of the different models with which he had some expreience. I felt confident he comprehended my priorities and styling preferences. He invited me to come along with them, but I elected to stay home and leave the choices to them. Upon their return, he was pleased to present to me the new toilet at a less expensive price than the one he had originally quoted. He had the receipt as well. The installation went well; the problems he had encountered were addressed in the most reliable and least expensive method-- I was confident he had not "beefed up" the problem or tried to "cash in" upon my ignorance. He fixed the issue well with what I believe are lasting solutions. The bathroom was completely "brushed up" and clean; they had disposed of all the litter in a neat and tidy manner, bagged up the trash, and when they left, the site they left was as tidy as when they came. The price was unbeatable; I took advantage of one of Angie's List's "Big Deals". I would CERTAINLY hire this man and his assistant again. He was trustworthy, dependable, respectful, responsible, and honest, as was his assistant. I would trust them in my home even were I not able to be present, although it is always wise to be on-site when work is being done in your home.

Estimate for project was timely and they were able to start the project the following week. The workers arrived at the scheduled time, explained their timeline and started in on the painting. They were neat and did a wonderful job! Kitchen looks wonderful!
