Description of Work: We contracted Derrick Schmidt to paint the trim on our Cape Cod home this spring. All transactions were handed by e-mail and by check. Derrick's crew did a great job for us. The painting quality was excellent. The job was completed in a very timely manner.

Description of Work: The Schmidt Painting crew did an excellent job of painting the entire interior of our home. From set up to touch up, the quality of their work and cleanliness were first rate. From the outset, the owner was very helpful with choosing paint colors, he periodically stopped by to inspect the job, and at the end he went over the whole house with a critical eye looking for areas to be repainted. The day after the job was completed (on a Sunday), he stopped by to readjust some bifold closet doors so that the house would show well for protective buyers. Job well done.

Description of Work: Once we connected, Derrick arranged the job to be completed within days. His crew was professional and did a terrific job. Plan to use Schmidt again for other indoor and outdoor jobs.

Description of Work: Painting was excellent, timely and very neat. The painting is very professional. They also arrived when they said they would and completed the work as planned. I would hire them again in a minute!

Description of Work: We hired this provider to paint the front of our home; either the pressure washing or the chemical stripper he applied removed some of the wood around the shingles. We have had to hire another company to go back over some of his spotty and uneven work. Additionally, when I emailed him to ask for the name and shade of one of the three paints they used for my own touch up purposes, he could not give me the exact name or shade.

Description of Work: This was our first time using Angie's list and we selected Schmidt Painting based on all the other excellent reviews he received on Angie's list. Derrick Schmidt showed up at our house wearing an Angie's List t-shirt and had an Angie's list decal on his car. Which we thought was slightly odd, since it almost seemed like he was working for Angie's list somehow. We started out a little rough because we mentioned that we had prepaid $400 dollars for 8 hours of work. He informed us that he had no record of our prepayment and that his going rate was $60 dollars per hour not the $50 dollar rate we had quoted prepaying. We were able to produce our receipt for the prepayment and he finally conceded that it was valid and would honor the prepayment even though it was below his going rate. |After sorting that out we left Mr. Schmidt alone and he diligently worked on an estimate to paint our 4 bedroom wood shingle house. After completing the estimate Mr. Schmidt, walked around the house with me pointing out rotting boards and missing shingles that needed to be replaced. He seemed knowledgeable and I was impressed that he was able to work up an estimate so quickly. After he gave me the amount I understood how he was able to do it so quickly. The estimate was outlandish! I said to him that this seemed quite high for the amount of work that needed to be done. He informed me that his price was an accurate estimate of the cost for the work needed to done and any "good painter" would give me a similar price. Mr. Schmidt informed me that I should sign now so that he could make sure I got a spot on the summer schedule before it filled up. I did not buckle to his pressure and told him that I would need to get back to him. |Doing my due diligence I got two more estimates from local painters, both estimates were half of Mr. Schmidt's estimate. I saved 50% on the cost of painting my house by not going with the Mr. Schmidt. I went with one of the painters and they did an excellent job painting the house in a timely manner. |I cannot speak as to whether or not Mr. Schmidt is a good painter since he did not paint our house. My only comment would be is that he is either bad at estimating the cost of painting jobs or his is unethical in his pricing. You have been warned, buyer beware. |

Description of Work: This was not a routine painting problem. All old paint in a dining room, living room, and hall had to be removed owing to severe cracking, peeling and flaking which most other painters did not want to do, nor had they any idea as to the cause. Schmidt knew the reason, and undertook to deal with it, which required the radical removal of all the old paint by scraping, sanding, and melting; and then restoring areas of damaged plaster. Then he and his crew cleaned up the debris and painted; and the result is virtually a new house! Finally, Schmidt underestimated the cost but he billed only according to his estimate. | |

Description of Work: They painted a living room with a cathedral ceiling and the stairway off of the living room. The quality of the work was excellent, they were very neat, and the amount of work they did was more than I expected. I would absolutely recommend them.

Description of Work: Treated water spots on two ceilings and then painted the ceilings.
