Schmidt Painting

From the estimate to the final inspection ,dealing with Schmidt Painting was an excellent experience. This is the first time we have used Derricks company and glad we did. All of his painters were professional, cordial and very hard workers. I especially appreciated Salvatore ,the lead painter. I have had 3 local painters in the past,none of which provided quality work. In the future we will use Schmidt Painting exclusively. Derrick gave me an estimate quickly and was able to do the job right away. The price was about what I expected (though I still do not have a final bill-they say their computers are being upgraded). His team of 5 arrived around 8:45 and promised to do the job all in one day. It ended up taking two days. They were going to scrape popcorn off a ceiling and repair some bubbly parts but the popcorn didn't come off well so they patched. The patching didn't look as good as I thought it would but he said it would cost a lot more to do it right. The team was pleasant, moved furniture around and did a good job of covering things. They did leave a couple of empty paint cans but that isn't a big deal. Derrick didn't really do a final walk through. He walked through with me a few hours before the end of the job.

I bought the super coupon for 8 hours of master painter. I was hopeing that is would cover the bedroom walls as it is a large room. The painter was so good I was able to get the bathroom walls and trim painted. He did a excellent job. I will hire again for the remainder of my house both interior and exterior. Very professional company to deal with.

They were very responsive and eager to please. The foreman was very accommodating. They were fair in terms of their cost estimates and their willingness to accommodate a customer’s wishes.

Fantastic..Derrick is very knowledgable and experienced. His crew is amazingly courteous, professional and prepared. Communication was excellent, which is rare. The painting project for this very fussy customer went very well. When you hire this company, it is not just for painting...the prep work includes power washing, individual planning for the condition of the materials on the house and work was beyond routine.

Our family took some time looking at the different product options available to us (change is hard, as is consensus). So it was well into May before we committed to our choices. By then we had lined up a good rental season for one of the houses which added complexity to the job as they couldn't do anything while renters were in the house. And the rain began, which it seemed to never stop through June. Derrick and Sara worked with our limited availability and when their crews were able to paint and stain they worked hard and long days. They did some minor repairs as well. The houses were finished by mid July and they look fantastic. People have knocked on the door to ask who we used, and I hope the Schmidts get lots of business from it. We had them back this week to finish some optional items that we skipped in the interest of speed the first time around: glazing and painting numerous older windows. it all looks GREAT. Schmidt Painting is our painter from here on. They take great pride in the quality of their work.

Far exceeded my best expectations. Armando, one of the Schmidt Painting Supervisors, oversaw the painting, caulking and repairs to painting at my home. He was wonderful to work with. He kept me informed of the efforts required and the choices I had throughout the job. I wanted all of the details corrected. They cleaned out old caulk, re-caulked and repainted many areas. They were diligent and the quality level was excellent. I was truly surprised in the end when the hours totaled were spot on to Derricks original estimate for the job. I found them through Angies List after several failed attempts to get a painter who would appear on time, in budget and do quality work. Their #1 rating on Angies List is well deserved! I will be doing future work with Derrick!

Called Derrick at the beginning of July to get a quote for painting our condo which was probably never repainted since it was built. When I spoke to Derrick on the phone I told him we had a very tight schedule as we had floors being installed the last week of July and we needed him to be finished by Thursday evening of the week of the 25th and we agreed to meet that Saturday morning. Derrick stopped by on time that Saturday and we walked through all the work that needed to be accomplished. Derrick made many suggestions that would give us flexibility in terms of pricing. He also told me he could get the job done on time even though we had a very tight schedule and he did not have a lot of lead time for getting this scheduled. I believe Derrick mention he has a team of 10 painters working for him and he delivered on his commitment to start and complete the job on time. Since we had ripped out all the old carpeting Derrick was able to spray paint the whole condo including the ceilings and baseboards with our brand of paint and they then did all the trim work by hand in the same color but in semi gloss and the place looks amazing!! Derrick also has a workshop where his guy did an amazing job painting all the cabinet doors. The man is a master of spraying and quite possibly an artist with a spray gun! While a few small things were missed we called Derrick and came out right away and walked through the job and had his team come by and finished anything that was missed. We would recommend and use Derrick in the future.

We found them on Angie's List. We were able to choose the painting, textures and colors that we wanted. They gave us suggestions/ideas and we looked at samples. They were very knowledgeable and very flexible. They were careful; they covered up the furniture and the carpets. They cleaned up any messes that they may have made. We are very pleased with it. It looks very good. These people were our choice after we took bids from other people. We contacted about five different contractors. We chose them primarily because of Angie's List and the initial visit that we had with them. They were very polite and professional.

I hired Derrick to stain a deck that had been stained a year ago by another company and was already peeling. The previous company had also replaced a few boards, removed railings and built stairs around the deck. Derrick was originally just going to power wash the deck, bleach and stain. Sounded simple. Not so much. The first round of stain didn't take correctly. When I wasn't happy with how it looked Derrick came out immediately to look at it with me. (I was off cape when the work was done) In fact he was here withiin an hour. We then agreed that the deck needed to be sanded to get an even stain. While we were off cape, Derrick stripped the deck. Then Derrick returned on on brutally hot day, worked 8 hours and stripped the entire deck down to the bare wood using hand sanders! Just when we thought we were at the home stretch...when he applied the new stain we discovered the problem. The new boards used by the previous contractor were not properly dried! After all this work they weren't going to hold the stain the same way as the other boards!!!! ARGH! Derrick did everything he could do and actually the deck looks great. The darker boards mellowed so the differences are liveable. We are very pleased with the effort and committment Derrick put into the job.

This is my second experience with Schmidt Painting. Two years ago they painted the exterior of our home. Once again, they were timely, professional, and reasonably priced. The work was completed in one day and it looks beautiful. Derrick was also helpful in selecting a color.

I was very pleased with the workers Schmidt Painting provided and the quality of their work. Communication was difficult as they did not speak English but they understood what was needed and worked well. They were extraordinarily neat as well.

They painted the entire inside of my 700sq foot summer home. Never have seen a job like this. All the walls required colored paint; ceilings and trim were white. Every edge was perfect! Havent found a mistake yet. Asked them to paint the window trim white, which was unfinished wood to start. There wasnt even paint on the plastic in which the sashes run.

The experience was all positive; it was amazing. Derek Schmidt is the owner and his wife was the crew chief of the painters and workers; she was here all the time. As far as I can see to this point they did quality work and got done in two days.

Derek came out to see the scope of the job and had two painters at my house at 8 a.m. the next day. They were out by noon. Excellent job, excellent clean up. I highly recommend Schmidt Painting!

Overall the job was done to my standards. I just wish I could have been understood by the 2 men doing the work. This was a "Big Deal" and a good value, even with the add-ons for paint and supplies.

Salvador was on time, professional, completed the job within the requirements, and quality was great. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

I had purchased an Angie's List special that was for four hours of plastering or painting. I called company and set up an appointment to look at job.Derrick came at appointed time to look at hole in ceiling and give me an estimate for painting beedroom.Derrick was not prepared to fix hole but said he would have someone from company return and accomplish the repair.They fixed the ceiling and I am happy with the result.

Derrick and his crew did a great job with our old Victorian home, painting a front and back entry way, ceilings, two staircases, and a bathroom. They filled holes in the walls and caulked around molding before painting. They painted a high and difficult-to-reach ceiling and corner. They took extra care when painting all of the original window and door moldings. The most difficult part of the job included painting the hand-railing and banisters of an ornate staircase, which involved sanding and sealing the railing. The job brought the old house back to life. Derrick came out as part of an Angie's List coupon; we then discussed additional jobs and pricing; he sent a confirmation of the pricing via email--I found his process to be clear.
