I couldn't be happier with the project - from quote through execution. I would highly recommend Tom Otenti & Stow Drywall. I will definitely use them again when I have a plastering need. Professionalism and Responsiveness: Tom responded immediately to our request for information and quote, arranged to come within a couple of days to do a quote, came exactly when he said he would and was extremely professional, responsive and punctual with getting back to us with a quote, scheduling the work and then doing the work on time. He provided options and expert advice on the best way to repair the damage. At all times Tom and his team were great to work with. Quality: The quality of the work was excellent. The ceilings look better than ever. He also did extra work at no charge to do a smooth finish rather than the texture we had contracted for because we decided that would look best in our house. Clean-up: Tom and his team took care with our house so nothing was damaged - they put plastic on the walls and sturdy covering on the floors to protect wall paint, window treatments, and our wood floor. After the job was complete, they took care to clean up all the plaster residue and debris. They completed the job in only 2 (long) days. Excellent job!

Although Tom was really busy, he managed to schedule a time to do the estimate. I received the estimate within 24 hours of his assessment. He was able to schedule the work within a few days of the estimate. He arrived on time and got right to work. He had to replace part of the ceiling in the family room and patch up that area as well as 2 places in the kitchen that had been damaged by the water from ice dams. He was able to match the original texture in both rooms. I find Tom very professional and personable. I would definitely hire him again for any drywall and plastering work that I would need done.

This is my second time using Stow Drywall and my second time reviewing them. Again i am blown away with the work they do. Tom is a great guy and very easy to deal with. He responded to my call the same day and was out to scope the job soon after when convenient for me. Quote came within a couple of days. My upstairs bedrooms were previously gutted and I had 2 dormers put on the house (small cape). I asked Tom to drywall and skim coat both bedrooms (walls and ceilings) Tom had Dana supply deliver drywall to my house prior to start of job. I was very impressed with this company and how they operated. They used a crane truck to get drywall in through the upstairs window. The next day his drywall hangers who he subs out came and hung all the drywall in one day. They worked extremely fast and their work was top notch. The next day Tom came out to skim with plaster. It only took him a day and a half to finish his skim coat. I don't know how he does it but his finish product is incredible. The walls are smooth as glass and flawless. Tom kept me informed daily of the progress of the job and every step that was going to take place. He is very clean and leaves no mess behind. I work in the trades as a boiler technician so I can very easily tell the good from the bad to the "so so" in the trades. Stow Drywall is the best there is. Thank you again Tom, A+ job. -Jon

He was very responsive and came over to look at the damaged ceilings several days after I called. He e-mailed a quote afterwards. I agreed with the quote, and we set a date that he would do the work. He came promptly at the agreed time. The work was done in one day and was high quality.

Tom was very responsive, returning our initial call and giving an estimate quickly. He gave us a fair price and described clearly what the work would entail. He and his worker were punctual, worked quickly, completing the work in two days. They did our living room, foyer and laundry room. We are happy the work and certainly recommend him.

We dealt with Tom at Stow Drywall. He was responsive, punctual, and professional. Tom provided a quote on Wednesday and performed the work that Friday. He and his crew showed up on time, performed the work, and cleaned up after the job. Their repair work looks great, and blends seamlessly with the existing conditions. I wish all contractors were as professional and reliable!

While removing wallpaper in a bathroom, I damaged the walls. Tom arrived within 24 hours to give me an estimate and since I had a painter scheduled, fit me into his schedule. While he was here, he not only made the walls perfect, he repaired a ceiling that had damage from ice damming, and plastered holes in a wall where I had tried to remove drapery. When the job was finished, the walls looked perfect and all of the evidence of my "handy work" had disappeared! Tom was a pleasure to work with, did excellent work, and I would highly recommend him!

Tom and his crew arrived promptly and did the work speedily. They did half the work on one day and finished the work the following (half) day. They were neat and tidy and very personable. Tom answered any questions I had and was very willing to explain what he was doing and why. I highly recommend Stowe Drywall for anyone's such construction needs.
Description of Work: I had had water damage from ice backup during the winter. Tom and his crew repaired four ceilings, and replaced one full ceiling by installing over the old, in my 1950's ranch house. They also cut out a section of the full ceiling (so I could examine what was behind it) and replaced the section before doing the entire ceiling. They replaced a section of the wall next to a window, too.

Tom was great. He's very easy to work with. Incredibly fast and efficient and very patient while he waited for me to remove all of the electrical switches and outlets so he could plaster around them more easily. When he left the wall was incredibly smooth and ready for paint. I had him skim coat a very large wall that spanned two rooms, an entry way and stairwell. The wall was previously covered with wood paneling and after removing the paneling the wall was full of nail holes and a few larger holes left by the paneling installer decades ago. In addition to the wall he was also nice enough to patch up about a dozen holes and spots around thermostats that had been replaced recently. I would definitely hire him again and plan to.

Even though we told him we wanted to repair, not replace, walls and ceiling, he insisted on doing the full teardown and replacement at twice the price of another contractor who did the repair job we wanted. Also, Stow's high price included us doing huge amount of prep work (including removing ALL furniture in room and all trim and moldings) prior to his doing his work.

Hi, I'm sorry price was too high, I didn't feel comfortable going over old plaster. My opinion was to remove old ceiling. You are selling the house and my opinion was for the new owners not to have problems down the road. If I did the job another way and didn't hold up I'm responsible. Tom

Tom and Josh did a very good job! Unlike other bidders, Tom was willing to work with me doing the demo work and prep on the bathroom. The kitchen ceiling provided some special access challenges but we worked together to resolve them and the result was very satisfactory. Also, both gentlemen were a pleasure to have around the house. We'll certainly ask for their help again when needed!

This is my second time working with Tom from Stow Drywall during my renovation. If all contractors were as skilled and professional as Tom, renovations would be a breeze. Unfortunately that's not the case. Tom is one of those guys who just does everything right. From initial consultation/quote all the way through to cleanup. I had previously hired Tom to plaster over some dated textured ceilings (swirls) in my kitchen, living room, dining room and hallway. They came out perfect. So this time I had him plaster the rest of the ceilings...again, perfect. In addition to the ceilings, I had Tom plaster an entire hall closet that was just created and an entire full bath that was completely renovated. The bathroom had a some issues. There were large gaps between the new sheetrock and the original walls. Some of the gaps were very uneven. There were seems everywhere. It looked like a jigsaw puzzle. I knew it wasn't an ideal prep job for Tom to do his work. But, as usual, he did an amazing job. The walls literally feel like glass. I've had a handyman and an electrician come to the house since Tom completed the job. Both of them asked me who did the plastering. The electrician said, "I need this guy to come to my house". While the handyman was there, I noticed him feeling the walls and he said, "Whoever plastered for you knows what he's doing, this is as smooth as a mirror." In addition to Tom's skill and professionalism, he's a great guy, easy to talk to, smart, responsive and a perfectionist. Simply put, he's the best. Hire him and don't look back.

I was in need of ceiling repair on my second floor which is below the attic. In order to work with Mass Save, who would install more insulation in my attic, they said I needed to make the ceilings of both rooms sturdy enough to support the weight of the insulation. Both ceilings had been bowing, and one ceiling was severely cracked. I made an appointment with Stow Drywall, and Tom came within days of my calling. He gave me a quote for the materials and some man hours ($1900.) but was honest in telling me he didn't know exactly how long the job would take, so gave me a quote of $100. /hr. of labor beyond the original quote. Tom was enthusiastic and willing to do the job - after contacting 2 other plasterers, I decided to go with Stow Drywall. He was able to start the next week, 12/12/13, and altho' he guessed the job would take 2 days, he and his helper took 2 and a half days - he started work bright and early each day, and worked 7 - 8 hrs. each day. I was very pleased with the results - he is a fine plasterer, he took care of my hardwood floors by covering them completely with thick cardboard, advised me to get a dumpster for all the old ceiling stuff that came down, and protected the outside area onto which he dumped the ceiling debris with a tarp, which later was thrown into the dumpster. So, not only was he a fine plasterer, but he also took care to protect the rest of the area from the massive dust that resulted - he vacuumed every day after plastering. I was very pleased with his work, and with his comunicating with me before the job about what would be involved, and what I should do to protect my furniture from the mess. I would definitely recommend him to anyone, and would hire him again.
Description of Work: Tom and his future son-in-law tore down the ceiling in one bedrm., reinforced the beams by "sistering" new boards to the old, put up blue board, and plastered over it. Then in the 2nd bedrm. they re-attached the old ceiling to joists above, then put up blueboard and plastered the entire ceiling.

Tom and Josh did a great job installing drywall and plastering in my basement family room and new hallway. The finish looks great and it was nice to work with such a pleasant and friendly contractor.
