RC Hardwood Floors

Richie and his team were great -- they fit into our somewhat tight scheduling window, made sure all the flooring was ordered properly and arrived on time, and got to work when promised and knocked it out without any delays, answering our questions along the way and making sure we were happy with the work. Nice results, great work, very professional. Highly recommended.

Rich and his team are perfectionists. They go above and beyond and take pride in their work. Rich and his team installed, refinished, and stained our hardwood floors over a year and half ago... the result a year and half later still look look amazing as the day we moved in. He usually does oil polyurethane we had him do water and they still look brand new. He only uses high quality products and you can tell from working with him he loves what he does. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him and his team again, or recommend him to others.

Great! They came when they said for both the estimate and the installation. Both the office and the installers were on time and professional. They offered suggestions on what to install and how to get around a tricky object in the room when providing the estimate.

Some issues the first time but after discussion with Richard, he agreed and was willing and able to guide and fix.

It was flawless! He removed all of the carpet/linoleum and disposed of it. The new flooring was installed and stained exactly as we had wanted. The floors look gorgeous! Rich was great in keeping us informed with his progress. He texted us photos of the work in progress almost every day. He was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend him to anyone.

They never contacted me or addressed any of my questions! Just blew me off!

The process went very well and we are quite pleased with the results. The workers finished on schedule despite 90 degree heat most days they were here.

They started Monday with sanding and the first of three coats. Wednesday they put down the third and final coat. When we were able to walk on the floor and check the quality Wednesday evening, we saw that the coverage of the final coat was uneven and that there were areas they had either missed or were too thin. And there were sander gouges in the kitchen floor. We called and emailed Thursday, and they said they'd come Friday AM to look at the floor and address any problems. They failed to come Friday, although my wife planned her day around them. Richard and his team came back Monday - they resanded the gouged floor area, and recoated the entire floor. Bottom line, they did an unacceptable job on the sanding and coating. They corrected it five days later, after we pointed out the problems, and so we lost five days of the use of our kitchen. And they did not come fix the problems when they said they would.

No work was performed since they have not responded since Oct.

Richard and his team were great. Very polite, cleaned up everyday. The floors look amazing. Highly recommend them to anyone.

They put up plastic sheets to keep the dust down. There was very little dust. Because we were getting tile floors in three rooms at the same time, they had to work around that schedule as well. They were very nice about working around that schedule. Before they were redone, the floors were pretty dark and discolored from years of foot traffic. Now, they look fantastic, light and elegant. RC Hardwood were very professional and clearly take a lot of pride in their work. I'd definitely recommend them or use them again. Thanks so much, Richard and crew!

Overall, the job went well. They are a small group and it took a little longer to get the job started than I was hoping for, but this was fine and not an issue. Richard came out and looked at the job, made suggestions on how to fix it and gave estimates. Once the job was started, he tore out the damaged wood, left it undone to ensure that the area is adequately dried out and then they came back to re-install the new portion, sanded the floor so all will match together and new area could not be distinguished from the old. Few things that were a little bothersome were what took away from this being an excellent experience. It was a little unpredictable for when they were going to show up to do the different aspects of the job. I tried to get them to narrow it down to a window of time and that was inconsistent. Yes, I know they are a small group but still was difficult to be sitting around waiting for them to come and let them in. When I mentioned this, it was suggested that I provide them a key to the house so they can come and go as needed. This was not feasible as I have a cat who sometimes bolts towards the door and tries to get out. Also, as a parent of a young child, this was not something I was comfortable with. Next, when they would leave the house, they would just leave. No letting us know or when they may come back or anything; they would just disappear. Finally, the polyurethane that was used was oil based, which I guess is the old fashioned way of doing it and I guess it may have matched the old finish a little better. Maybe I missed it, but after 5 weeks, there is still a smell to the rooms that just does not want to go away. I wish we had discussed this in more detail prior to start of the job. The final finished job does look nice, but there are a few spots where the floor is not smooth and little rough texture to the poly from the roller they used. I guess this will get better after some wear, but being a guest room, it will take a while. They also, had commented how the floors were not done adequately when originally done, and only 2 or 3 coats of poly were applied. Well, I was told the job was done after 3 coats. Don't get me wrong, the floors look really good overall and these are minor issues overall. I just feel that given the high rating they have on Angie's list , I expected close to perfection and I feel they fell a little short of that. I would be willing to use them again if I need more work done.

The floors are looking beautiful throughout the house, and the dust was quite minimal. The craftsmanship of the new floor is excellent. They were thorough in the refinishing too - they even redid the trim around a raised tile section of the floor, which I hadn't even thought about. Additionally, I am grateful that they quickly came back to do a 5th, unplanned, coat on the living room when my idiot dog broke out of the basement and walked across the newly finished floor. My only criticism is that I wish they were better about telling me what time they would be at house, but this is a minor complaint, as they started the job on the days they said they would and accommodated me to allow other work on the house to occur, plus their response to the dog incident was great.

We were looking for a installation for hardwood floors in our kitchen as well as sanding and re polish of our existing hardwood floors. We waited 3 weeks for him to come out for an estimate. When he arrived, he was in a rush and told us he was going to blow us off but his wife encouraged him to come as we had been waiting for 3 weeks (we should have realized then it was going to be a bad experience). He took less than 15 minutes talking to us and taking measurements. He didn't write anything down regarding what we were looking for on wood type and the additional repairs of our existing floors. After a week of not hearing back from him I tried a number of time to email him and call him to get a confirmation of the estimateand to schedule time. After an additional 3 weeks we went to another vendor. I am not sure how this company has any awards from Angie list- make me also question this service as this company has the so called highest award for service and they were the most unprofessional vendors I have ever worked with.

Rich and I rescheduled a bunch of times over the winter due to the snow. He was easy to work with and came to the house quickly for the quote. The guys were very quick and cleaned up everything nicely. The floor came out great! It was covered in paint from the previous owners and I was shocked to see the floor in the end! I would recommend them to friends/family.

I had purchased a Big Deal for having my hardwood floors refinished. I have coordinated with a moving company as well to make sure that the furniture would be moved out of the way and brought back after the work was completed. Now that the original appointment time is approaching, she is trying to push out the appointment time and really making the process very stressful. She is moving it out to the last possible day that we would be able to have the work done. I have been trying to call and all I get is a recording telling me that they are experiencing high call volumes and that if it is an emergency to send an email. They even had the recording say that they were experiencing high call volumes at 7:30 this morning. I have left messages and they never return them. I've sent emails and it takes them hours to get back to me. I have cancelled the service and requested a refund from Angie's List for the Big Deal because cannot work with someone that refuses to answer the phone.

Rich was very easy to work with. He came when he said he would, gave me a written quote, started & finished when he said he would. Very happy with his work His guys were very pleasant too.

These guys are great! I had gotten a phone quote a few weeks prior, and when I was ready for them they were able to start the job within 2 days. They were done in 3 days total. The guys were very nice, prompt, professional and the floors are beautiful. Thanks, Richard and Renee.

Very professional and timely. Didn't try to upcharge;only suggested refinishing part of the house, while coating everything. Minor defect was discovered after work was done and they immediately (once mutual scheduling could be worked out) and without complaint fixed it.

Called RC Hardwood Floors THREE (yes, 3) times in two weeks to get an estimate for install of new floors and refinish of existing flooring. Each time I got a voicemail saying they were experiencing "excessively high call volume" and to leave a message and they would contact me back as quickly as possible. I tried calling at different times of the day, in hopes of catching someone who would answer the phone - no such luck. I never got a call back, not even a call to tell me they were too busy to take the job. Funny thing is, the week before I tried calling they did the hardwood floors in my neighbors house and the response from my neighbors was they struggled to line RC up to do the work as well. I can't imagine that business is that good, that you can't even give a prospective customer a call back, but I might be wrong. Highly un-professional, and I am extremely disappointed. From the pictures on their site, it looks like they do fantastic work, but I'll never know.

The floors came out perfect. You cannot tell where the existing floor shopped and the new flooring tied in. On time, on budget with a perfect finish. Couldn't ask for more.

I e-mailed them for a quote on installing approximately 500 square feet of hardwood floors. I never received a response.

Rich was professional, courteous, warm and knowledgable. He arrived on time for the estimate, worked with me on the price (it was a big job with a bazillion nails he had to reset by hand) and even asked if he could start earlier than we had originally agreed. On the day of work, his sander Dan came and got right to work, after sincerely admiring our house and floors. He even told us a little about how the floors were made. 5 days later we had four coats of finish and the most gorgeous floors we have ever seen. Only problem is now we're terrified of scratching them and ruining Rich's amazing work. We are so happy we worked with him.
