We recently sought out Hudson Appliance Center because they advertised repair of Bosch appliances and were fairly close to our location. We appreciated the service we received from their technician, George, who took the time to explain some handy tips on operation of our Bosch dryer, and when the space to work on the problem was too confining, he offered to remove the dryer to service it back at the store. He returned just two days later with the repaired dryer, which now operates very well; and quietly. It was George's dedication and commitment to getting the job done right that was so impressive. We would seek future business with Hudson Appliance Center based on George's efforts, alone.
Description of Work: Dryer was making awful sound and needed repair.

Not well. Once there we also became interested in counter-top oven and wine cooler. We picked out a BBQ grill, a microwave. Once there we were also attracted a counter-top oven and asked for a price on a floor-model wine cooler. We were not able to obtain any total for the items (or buy them) that day (a Sat), in fact we would were told they would send, via email, an invoice probably later that day. Come Tuesday, no invoice. I called on Tuesday morning to remind them. Received it that afternoon- and it was wrong. It had listed: two different BBQ grills; the wrong (and a far more expensive micro wave); a quote for the wine cooler and the price for the oven. The emailed note said to "ignore" the total (?) as they knew it was wrong. I emailed back within a few hours with questions about the accuracy of the invoice, and to provide a corrected one. Did not hear back, so on Thursday, I called to speak to the manager. There is none, so I spoke to the owner to see if I could get accuracy and/or the items themselves, now 5 days after shopping. The owner was not apologetic or what I would call "friendly" or customer service oriented. I pulled the order for the grill and the wine cooler and only bought the two ovens, as I needed them immediately. He did thank me for the business, but I truly felt as though I had to chase them to give them my money. I am committed to 'buying local', but I would have received better service, and free shipping (as well as received the items 3 days sooner, if I had used my prime membership in a well known online retailer. I do not believe that I am difficult to please. Good honest and quick service is all I expect. We also asked for a service call as we have an issue with our existing refrigerator which was purchased at Hudson Appliance by the previous owner of the house. It has been a month now and I am still awaiting that call.

Dishwasher price: $370.81 Installation (more than twice the estimate): $180 The dishwasher works fine, now that I've replaced the faulty lower rack with a Whirlpool MODG42475XTV01, Serial # F01807134 - thanks to problem-solving suggestions from Foley and Sons, neighbors, and New England Appliance, at 44 Nason Street in Maynard, Mass. New England Appliance looks like a better bet for future purchases.
Description of Work: I needed a new dishwasher. We had to look online, at the store, because there were none available in my price range. The on-line interior photograph did not show how wobbly the lower rack (no support) would be. The installation charge was more than twice the amount quoted: no explanation. The bottom rack was not sturdy. I used the machine only once, and called the salesman several times within the grace period. Though I was willing to exchange for a more expensive model, Joe showed no interest in helping. Calls back and forth all summer - with no working dishwasher, and nothing but "Sorry" from Joe. Neighbors and I discovered their Whirlpool Gold model's lower rack fit my dishwasher perfectly. New England Appliance ordered it, and I'm happy now. Too bad "Joe" did not stand behind his product, use a little creativity, and keep a customer. Shame on Hudson Appliance.

Their price was high and I had to do some legwork to find out other companies had a lower price. They just weren't as upfront as I would have liked. Their installers spilled grease on my carpet.

I had gotten a diagnosis on the refrigerator from a different provider that I needed a new compressor. The fridge was out of warranty (for the compressor) by about 8 months, though I didn't realize this at the time; the other provider wasn't authorized by GE to do repairs under warranty, so I called Hudson Appliance, who are. The house call was $165, which is pretty steep. However, the tech from Hudson Appliance heard my story and checked the fridge himself and said that, as far as he could tell, the compressor was fine, and that they almost never failed anyway. However, he said that the motherboards failed frequently. I had him install a new board (much cheaper than a compressor, too, by several hundred dollars) and sure enough, it solved the problem. I'm quite satisfied by the result.
Description of Work: Installed new motherboard in GE refrigerator. The fridge fan was running continuously.

They had a good selection and price. They also were able to provide the appliances within a week, while the big box stores said it would take two weeks for the stove we wanted. The only reason I didn't give them a higher ranking was that we ended up with a gas stove that did not fit the existing gas piping and had to hire a plumber to run a new pipe. It did not occur to me that this wasn't a standard thing and I would have appreciated someone point it out to me. Not necessarily there fault, but would have been nice.

Repair folks came out 8 times and the cooktop was still not fixed! Some parts were replace 3 times (transformer) and broke again shortly after. We were charged for all service visits and for all parts. We received no assistance in contacting manufacturer to see about warranty or reimbursement for parts. We had to call Hudson Appliance repeatedly to have parts ordered and to schedule visits. They never returned our calls. They refused to consider replacing the cooktop.It was a $1500 cooktop that was less than 16 months old and is used very little. We gave up and ordered a new cooktop at a discounted charge from the manufacturer. We hired our own plumber to install it. We spent close to $10,000 at Hudson Appliance to purchase several appliances including this cooktop. They were not at all concerned that we were unhappy and were not interested in working with up to resolve this problem.

We were extremely disappointed and offended by the total lack of professionalism this place showed. We left there store at 2:50 pm, which was over an hour before they would have been closing, and yet salesmen were hanging around chatting together, or with an occasional other customer, as place was not crowded in the least. Potential buyers... Good luck :/
Description of Work: Drove an hour and a half to take advantage of the tax free weekend here in Massachusetts, and after an hour of looking in the store, on our own, we left. Not one person who worked there even acknowledged my wife and I!! We were prepared to spend spend big money on high-end appliances, as we are doing a major kitchen renovation...looking for a larger Thermidor range and hood, as well as a top-of-the-line Bosch dishwasher. Felt ignored and disregarded as a valued customer... Worried that first impression could follow through any purchase we might ever make, so walked out.

Called at 1:30pm on a Monday requesting same day service in Marlborough. We were home as we'd just gotten back from vacation. They were able to accommodate a 3-5pm appt. Steve arrived around 4PM, quickly assessed the problem & identified the relay switch to be the likely issue. He had one in the truck, swapped it out & we were back in business. He was professional, personable & knowledgeable. I was pleased with the service provided. My only mistake; I didn't ask what the fee was to come out. It was $149.95 for the service call which included labor for small repair. I didn't shop around, but was expecting closer to $80. As I've paid for similar service elsewhere. $68.10 was for the part for a total of $222.31.
Description of Work: Refrigerator wasn't cooling. (Samsung side by side) we'd unplugged it, hoping to reset as compressor hot to the touch. It stayed on for only a second before turning off.

Technician came out an diagnosed the problem as a malfunctioning control box (it appeared to have burnt out). He tried to see if he could do a low cost repair by soldering something in the box but it did not work. He said they would have to order a new control box which would take 4-5 days and then he would be back out. It took about 5 days and then another few days for him to come back out and install it. Once he installed the new box the washer began functioning again. There was no cost for the second visit other than the part. The technician was very professional, worked quickly and answered several related questions I had regarding my appliance. Overall I was very satisfied with the service that Hudson provided.

It all started with our new home, which underwent renovations 6 years before we bought it. Hudson Appliances did the kitchen. The Jenn Air counter gas range is dying. Slowly and surely. Bob from the service department has now been here twice. Not a good sign. After the second service call, I take a stroll over to the store. LOVELY. A Host (GM? Owner?) sits to the left in the back as you enter the grand room of beauty - kitchen mock ups beautifully displayed. He is intimidating. Around noon on a mid week day, place is dead. I encounter Rocco. First impressions: They could care less if you went to Percys. PERIOD. Second impression - Rocco had neither the desire nor the patience to deal with me. Didn't bother to look up the homes previous record. Didn't bother to listen to me when I texted my husband for the stove dimensions. Didn't offer many options. Offered to email me price and specs. I asked if he could give some options. He leaves. As I meander the store, I look at range hoods. I need one. I turn to the happy host and ask if he has the price. He calls... Rocco (who thought I had left). Rocco gives me another big blow off. A day goes by, I get an email with only one stove. No options, no hood... I told my husband I thought Mr. Rocco was "old school" and ask him to come back with me. Saturday, As we walk in, we tell Mr Happy Host that we had received a quote from Rocco - he cuts me in mid sentence, and says we have to wait for Rocco. Rocco is with clients. We saw 3 sales reps scurry away like we are radioactive. And we wait, and wait and wait. Another person asks and we said we had a quote from Rocco... and he says we had to WAIT for Rocco. Husband looks at me and says, they dont want our business, lets go to Percys. We are Seniors. My husband is a Retired Vet. Shyly a rep comes out - Jeff, and says, "I am sorry for the wait, can I help you?" I was afraid he'd get into trouble. Maybe he did. Maybe as I type this he is fired for "taking Rocco's customer" - I HOPE NOT, because Im going back and doing my purchase with Jeff, who took his time, was interested and by the end of our meeting, has us buying ALL new appliances! Im happy that Jeff is there. Im happy such a beautiful store is in our town. Im not sure I would recommend some of my friends, one in Marlborough that has a 40K kitchen remodel project, go there unless Jeff helps her. Because quite frankly, its sad when an owner is so successful, they can afford to shoo people away. I wish I could give them an A, but the first impressions are lasting, and the sense of "if you don't like it here go to Sears" is sad. Thank goodness they have Jeff!!! If you are lucky to get him, you WILL have a GREAT shopping experience!
Description of Work: I want to be fair to this provider. The store is beautiful, prices are competitive, they are well stocked and their Service Department is top notch. What they don't do is give a first personal impression when you walk over to the appliance side. And quite frankly we really believe, they do so much business, they would NOT care if you walked away. But there was some redemption. They offer EXCELLENT service for your in home appliances. AND if you get the RIGHT salesperson, you will be very happy.

My salesman Jeff and Derrick were wonderful ... very patient and helpful. Jeff even found some manufacturer rebates that I wouldn't have known about had I gone elsewhere. There prices were lower than Lowes & Home Depot. I did spend a lot of time there as I had 1/2 inch clearance between the dishwasher and stove handle. The only issue I had was the owner. He was a jerk and didn't understand and didn't seem to want to know why I was spending so much time there. Well, when your $2000 is at stake, you do what ever it takes to make sure you're making the right decision. The owner made me so mad that he almost lost the sale single handedly. I didn't want how he treated me to undo what the salesman had done. They worked very hard with me and deserved the commission. So that's why I purchased the appliances there. Note to owner: Please try to remember who pays your bills, be less judgmental and if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all, especially to a customer.

My dehumidifier broke and I did some looking online and had narrowed my choice down to a few brands. I checked Hudson Appliance Website and called and spoke with the salesman who said that Frigidaire was the best in the size and type I was interested in. The Frigidaire was also on sale. I eventually called back to place a phone order and had the item delivered and the old one removed. ($10) The day after the dehumidifier was delivered, my old microwave broke. Went to Hudson Appliance on 7/3 to look at new ones. I really didn't want to wait, so was looking at what was in the store at that time. I ended up comparing two of them, the salesmen, Jeff, was very helpful and told me the one on sale was just as good as the one that was a higher price and that both brands were actually made by the same company and both had basically the same features. I brought the Sharp on sale @ $129 including tax, and took it home and brought the old one back for recycling. I've been very happy with both products and was happy with the service. I will be going back for a new gas range.
Description of Work: Provider delivered dehumidifier, helped me set it up on the table and removed the old one. Was also helpful when I went the next day to select a microwave.

We ordered $5400 worth of appliances and paid for the installation. We assumed it covered the dishwasher and the microwave only to find out that Hudson Appliance did not schedule for the microwave installation. When I called the store I couldn't get anyone to pick up the phone. After several attempts to call I finally got through to the owner and he was so rude and said he couldn't schedule it for me today. When the installer arrived, we assumed the installation fee was included in our purchase price only to find out that the price was not included in what we paid. I will never purchase anything from them again. They are happy to make the sale but once you hand over your money, forget it. That is where the customer service ends.

I purchased the units over the phone. Two gentleman showed up on time and were professional and courteous. They knocked off their shoes before quickly removing and installing the equipment. They worked with the plumber to implement an efficient solution to the order of operations and were promptly on their way.
Description of Work: Washer and dryer out of stock at the big box store was purchased at competitive prices and delivered. Vendor arranged with a plumber partner to disconnect and reconnect gas dryer. Vendor removed old machines.

Overall, he was fairly friendly and it was easy to get an appt. It wasn't an emergency so I did not have to worry about someone coming within 24 hours.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was leaking water underneath the crisper drawers. Unfortunately this company has one rather large quote for service. But if it takes 3 hours that is all you pay. The repairmen knew by the description that it was a clogged drain and wasn't sure if he was able to unclog it so I would had to have bought a new refrigerator. Luckily he was able to unclog it so I can hopefully go another year or two without buying a new one.

Hudson Applliance has a very broad selection, and I'm a fan of Bosch after having good luck with kitchen appliances (also bought at Hudson Appliance). Delivery was a bit delayed due to a backlog from Hurricane Irene, but despite that, the delivery was on time and efficiently done. The installers couldn't have been nicer, and the appliances have worked great. The sale was easy. My salesman was low pressure and well-informed on the appliances, nor did he try to steer me to something more expensive that I didn't really want. There was even a $100 rebate on the washer.
Description of Work: I purchased a Bosch washer and dryer from Hudson Appliance, to replace my old Kenmores. (They had given good service, but the dryer died and I figured the washer was next.) They delivered the new washer and dryer and took the old ones away (free).

Was told that they did not work Saturdays (which was surprising) and that the earliest they could provide service was following Wednesday. This was obviously unacceptable for a refrigerator with perishable products. Called another local provider who completed the service Saturday afternoon without difficulty. Hudson appears to have very limited service staff. They will no longer be be my "first choice" call in the future based on this experience.
Description of Work: On a Saturday morning in August noticed that refrigerator section of a one year old Maytag refrigerator was running warm. Called Hudson to arrange service since they are a local company, which I have used in the past, without issue.

Although the store scheduled a relatively wide open service schedule between 9AM - 12NN, George came in at 10:10AM and left the premises at 10:40AM fixing the problem at its root cause (water pressure is too strong and the setting to control water dump into the ice trays was off). Truly a quick fix, knows what he is doing and very professional in his work (cleaned up afterwards). George initially look at the icemaker making it turn and dumping the ice/water repeatedly. Observed that there was too much water being dumped into the ice tray that makes it to dump ice blocks instead of the smaller ice cubes. Adjusted the water pressure through a water valve in the basement and an adjustment on the electronic mother board on top of the fridge. Replace and fixed the sensor that fell and dangled from the wires. Explained not necessary at this time to replace it (impressed by his honesty and practicality). Cleaned up before he left. Explained all the charges (fixed labor cost) and the estimated cost of the part that may be replaced. Labor warranty is 3 months. An hour later I got my first ice cubes!
Description of Work: Called in to Kimberly to request repair of the icemaker of our LG Ref/Freezer. Troubleshoot the reason why ice blocks are forming vs ice cubes. Replace the failed sensor that was damaged and dangling after the ice blocks came out of the ice storage bin. Service technician George came in to look into the icemaker and adjusted the settings to fix the root cause.

We described to them our needs with regard to the dimensions and type of the refrigerator. They did an excellent job of providing information on several models that would meet our needs. The quality of the quote and their level of professionalism were excellent. They gave a very expensive quote with many options. The only issue was that it took them several days to provide it, and I wasn't aware that they were doing that amount of detail. We actually ended up buying a refrigerator from another store because we hadn't heard from them, and we finally got the quote in the mail. It was excellent service with a great amount of detail.
Description of Work: I got a quote from them for a new refrigerator for a new townhouse under construction.

Overall it went very well. I used a "B" grade of Professionalism, because originally Hudson Appliance recommended an A/C unit that would not meed my needs. Luckily while I was discussing my current A/C setup with the contractor, he caught Hudson's error, and I changed the A/C that I was going to purchase in time.
Description of Work: I contacted Hudson Appliance and sought their input on an in-wall A/C unit, as mine had failed due to corrosion. They suggested an A/C unit, and recommended a contractor to do the installation. I contacted the contractor a few times with questions, and he was very helpful. The contractor performed the service at a mutually agreeable date and time, and the installation went very well.

I spent $2200 on that interaction. We were very happy with them. It went really well and the thing that was super important to us was the prices. Their prices were significantly lower and we ended up saving $500. We were impressed with their knowledge in the showroom and honesty of the sales people. What they had on the floor was anything from the cheapest range to the $7000 ones. They had the best prices.
Description of Work: I used Hudson Appliance Center in January this year to buy and install a cooking range.
