Excellent. Good range of pool and spa products. Quick service call scheduled and totally satisfactorily services from service technician. Problem (spa 2-stage motor not working/broke and needed to be replaced) quickly diagnosed and new motor, which the service tech had on his truck, based on my description of the problem, was installed, so our spa problem was fixed and totally usable with minimum downtime. Will definitely use them again when needed.

They are short staffed, it took us months to get someone in to take measurements for a pool cover. Even though they didnt install the pool we have, they are familiar with it, so when we asked for ballpark price for a cover, $1,000.00 didnt sound bad (not knowing a thing a bout pools). 3 months of going over almost every weekend to test the water, and FINALLY someone came out for measurements... WELL 3 weeks waiting for estimates and another measurement visit and a quote came in for $3000.00 and denial of the first quote. Thank GOD for Angies list, we saw there are other companies around and we can price shop around and get a cover and get the pool buttoned up when we need it done and not have to beg and beg and beg for service.
Description of Work: lets start with the good - the people are nice and very very knowledgeable. the bad: as the only gig in town, they have more work than they can handle, and if you shop around, you can find better pool chemical deals around (including stop and shop, walmart and bjs). And dont expect them to show up for service when you need them. They are swamped.

We are guilty of being late with the pool cover measurements. In the heat of our season we have to triage our work and measuring a safety cover in the summer gets a low priority; our past safety cover customers understood that; I probably did not express that clear enough to the customer when he first asked. I have been selling swimming pool safety covers for 25 years and have yet to sell a cover, installed for $1,000.00; especially a free form pool with a paver deck. I'm not calling the customer a liar but, I don't why I would verbally estimate $1,000.00. I did return for confirmation measurements because the drawing from the plotter did not seem right. I believe in "measure twice and cut once". It’s unfair to generalize and say “Don’t expect them to show up”. The only onsite pool service we ever provided the customer was a safety cover measurement. We try not to take more work than we can handle but there are variables in this business that delay us like weather and product availability to name a few. A seasonal business is not an easy one, we can’t hire countless people to do the work for a few busy months and then lay them off. Regarding our pricing, I don't have the pricing benefits of Stop & Shop, Wal-Mart and other big box stores. Most of our customer base is OK with higher prices because they want to support local business. If the trend keeps going toward big box stores and the internet there will be no Main Street or Local business. Levels of service will be worst than ever. We provide free water testing and free advice, in person and on the phone; fortunately most realize the value in this service. It is the customers prerogative to maintain there pool from the shelves of a grocery store. We are not perfect but we show up every day trying. Again, this is a seasonal business whose yearly income is achieved in about 120 days. I concede that our level of service fluctuates but we ALWAYS make it right with the customer. I was unaware that the service the customer received from our company was that bad; he never expressed that to me during his weekly visits for a free water analysis. I think Angie's list is a great tool for qualifying a business but when I find posts like this without being aware of a problem it's upsetting. I really wish the customer had approached us personally; we want all types of feedback, good or bad. Finally, we have never taken for granted our position as the only Swimming pool retail store in the town of Hudson. We realize the competition we face and deal with the competitiveness everyday. He's priceless. He stays with a problem until it's resolved. If he can't figure it out, he will call in other people to figure it out. The pool is absolutely spotless. They come on a weekly bases. His price includes all of the chemicals which I found not to be true of the other pool services that I called. He comes once a week and he also opens and closes the pool.
