Overall experience was fantastic! I quoted 3 different area HVAC companies, Chaves came in almost $2K under the next closest bid. Andre came out to do the walk through to complete the capacity analysis; he was knowledgeable, professional and personable. While onsite, he worked up the quote to ensure I understood the details of each line item and was patient and responsive with all of my questions. You can imagine this is/was their busiest time of the year, but they were able to schedule a Saturday installation which was great. The day of the install, the team showed up right at 8am. Andre and Eddie completed the installation of the Trane unit outside and work in the basement for new copper line. They used their own in-house electrician who took care of the wiring up to the thermostat. (They had a difficult time fishing the wire through the wall and made sure I was fully on board when needing to route through the floor and inside wall of the closet.) Once everything was up and running, we did a final walk through inside and out to make sure I was happy (which I was!). The areas where they had worked had been picked up/swept and you wouldn't have known an installation of any kind had taken place (which was perfect!). If/When I have the need for any additional work, I would certainly call Chaves -- positive experience from start to finish.

They were very nice coming out on short notice. The technician seemed very competent. I will be using them for my winter heating maintenance.

The office staff to set up the appointment was very friendly and went over the house visit charge ($99) during the first call. I was sort of taken aback by the visit charge before any work had begun, but upon researching with other firms this seems fairly standard. Others might not charge up front for the "visit", but instead charge by 15 or 30 min increments to complete the work. The HVAC tech arrived within the project time slot provided by the office staff. He worked quickly to diagnose the issue - it was in fact the blower which had seized up. He attempted to free the propeller but it was too far gone. Luckily he had a spare on the truck and was able to install in about 25 mins. Because he was able to determine within the issue within the first 15 mins and we decided to repair on the spot he did not charge us the home visit charge ($99) - which was nice. Would I go to Chaves again for my heating cooling needs? Definitely. They also seem to be knowledgeable about split systems, something which I may be interested in having them install in the not too distant future (to get away from oil heat in my 1900's farmhouse).

Andre was on time & very professional. He even wore booties to protect my floors from his shoes! That was a nice touch. Andre spent about 1 hour measuring my home & discussing our options with me. I truly appreciated his time and attention with explaining to me all the many options of central A/C one could get! Our home is a little funky with two roof lines & so it is difficult to get a/c to the first floor family room. Andre emailed me a quote very quickly and even revised the quotes when I added a few drops to my first floor. I ended up going with another provider as the prices were the same & even used the same equipment, however, the other provider was able to get two a/c drops into our family room & one into our dining room that made all the difference to us. I would highly recommend Chaves & really wanted to use them, but I felt the design from the other company fit our needs better.

I regard my experience with Chaves as being as perfect I think such an experience could be. Every time they made an appointment, they were right on time -- for the initial estimate, and for starting work. The job cost exactly what they estimated. Prior to us deciding to go with them, they were great about answering all of our questions so we really felt like we understood the process. The installation of the system went smoothly, and they cleaned up after themselves to the point that you could hardly tell a major project had just been done. This was particularly important since new ducts were being installed all over the house -- a situation that could easily have been messy, but wasn't at all. We love the system, it does a great job cooling the house down. I really have nothing but positive things to say about Chaves and the project we had them do.

We woke up a few days after Christmas with no heat - both our pellet stove and our gas furnace had died on the same night. We called Chaves based on their positive Angie's List reviews. They arrived within two hours, and had our gas furnace up and running within 45 minutes. They were extremely professional, and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Joe Chaves came promptly to quote the job, he was thorough and provided me all the options. We decided to use the masssave.org heat loan and he was experienced and helpful with his end of the process. He provided all the necessary documents I needed and filled out the portions that he could for any loan document or utility rebate. He was typically very responsive to emails, although I occasionally had to ask for information regarding the job that I would expect to just be provided. The guys that did the work were great. They put down drop cloths in the areas they were working and didn't make any mess. The had the job done in less time than stated with no surprise additional costs. The only issue I had with the whole process was the method of making appointments with the town inspectors. In hindsight, I would have just asked to do this part myself, rather than through the electrical and plumbing contractors. It's difficult to plan appointments through a middleman, especially when most people will have to take off work to meet with them.

The office manager is friendly, helpful, and highly professional. Lars showed up on time, assessed our system, gave great advice, and offered many options for our system. Great service and professionalism.

After waking up to a cold house and attempting to troubleshoot the cause without success, we decided that outside help was needed. Chaves Inc. was highly recommended by several members of the Framingham Wiki and seemed the logical choice. Our experience was exemplary. The office staff was professional, knowledgeable and forthcoming with respect to pricing. I requested a service call and received a call back in 5 minutes to tell me that the service tech would arrive within a half hour. Twenty minutes later, Brian, the service tech rang our bell. The problem was diagnosed quickly, Brian explained it clearly, fixed the malfunctioning sensor and we had heat! The entire process was beyond our expectations. As a result, we plan to sign with Chaves for our heating and A/C maintenance.

We recently had two new bath exhaust fans installed, and needed to get them vented outside. I called a few roofers, thinking they would be the ones to take care of something like that. Only two roofers ever called me back. One said they don't do small jobs, and the other I got as far as a quote with, but averaged a 5 day response time. I decided to change tactics and call a HVAC company. I'm quite glad I did. I spoke with Andre Chaves, who was extremely helpful and professional. He came to look over the job and give me a quote, which wound up being lower than the roofer. While he was there, we discussed my upcoming need for a furnace and hot water heater replacement (I like killing two birds with one stone). The guys who came to do the installation were fast, accurate and professional. Andre even emailed me to follow up and make sure I was completely satisfied. To top it all off, the invoice came with a self-addressed, stamped envelope with my return info already filled out. It's the little things like that that make me continue to do business with a company. I will definitely be calling them for the furnace and hot water.

Overall, I'm content with the job. The house is comfortable, I'm saving a lot on oil and I'm looking forward to the summer. Chaves showed up on schedule and was prompt with quotes. Chaves also spent a good amount of time designing a solution based on my home's characteristics and limitations. Other companies did not spend as much time prior to quote. The downsides of this job are as follows and are somewhat minor compared to the overall quality of the job. - I'm spending a lot more on electricity than I was led to believe. - I think the price was a little high compared to a similar installation by another contractor for a different family member. - There were many pilot holes left in my ceilings. Chaves agreed to fix them after the fact but instead reduced the price of the job. I would have preferred it if they fixed them at the time. - The water pipe used by my washer machine was used to drain a zone. Unfortunately, they didn't hook it back up. I'm glad I caught it or I'd have water everywhere. - A part failed within 24 hrs of installation. I was told that Trane was the cadillac of systems and was left without proper heat for a weekend. - I was led to believe that I'd be able to adjust the thermostat to use less oil. Turned out not to be the case with the thermostat model that was installed. - Chaves did not initially perform a duct blaster test. I had to ask them to perform one. Perhaps they were planning on it, but it was never communicated to me. - I would have liked it if Chaves spent more time educating me on the system at the time of installation. I also would have liked it if they spent more time testing but apparently there isn't much to test. - One of the vents is not blowing an equal amount of air. I believe they could have done a better job installing one of the ducts. - There was a large discrepancy in the wiring cost needed to support the installation. Regardless of the above, Chaves was responsive to my concerns all along the way and was willing to resolve all issues in a prompt manner. I was also amazed that they didn't ask for any money until I was completely satisfied. Update after a year in service: The original design called for one zone in a two story house. I was assured this would suffice. Unfortunately it did not and lead to large discrepancies in temperature and caused the system to run unnecessarily all the time. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the job and Manny, the owner, vowed to make it right. He did. They came back to install a second zone at no cost. My only complaint is around testing. When the second zone was installed, a damper motor burned out because it was caught on a piece of wood. It never worked on day one and wasn't tested. They had to come back out once again to resolve. Regardless, their dedication to 100% satisfaction is second to none. Thank you.

This company was prompt and professional in all aspects of the job. The sale person came out to my house and did a thorough analysis of what was needed and provided me with a few options that varied in price. There was no sale pressure at any time. I followed up with a few email questions that were promptly answered. The sales person provided me with the final cost for the furnace that I chose and set up an installation date that was convenient for me. The sales person coordinated all the workers and permits that were needed. The installation was completed on time, done to my expectations, and the workmen were very professional. The work was done at the exact price that was quoted. The sales person followed up a few days later to review the work and finalize the paperwork. Excellent job done by all.

A few weeks ago our gas furnace stopped working. The technician came and found out that the vent was blocked on the outside of our house and repaired it. The technician also found that the heat exchanger had a crack and recommended buying a new furnace or replacing the heat exchanger. A couple of days later the owner of the company came and gave us some suggestions for new furnaces. He also found out that the heat exchanger was under warranty (for parts only, not labor). We opted to just replace the old cracked exchanger. The manufacturer took a few weeks to make a replacement. A new technician came and replaced the heat exchanger.

As always with Chaves, everythhing was done on time, efficiently and politely. Technician was scheduled to be here in Dec but we requested and rec'd early service. Tech was on time i.e. betw 9 AM and Noon. Got to work and was out in an hour. He explained his services, also taking time to discuss such topics as tankless water heaters and addition of insulation to our attic. Very congenial yet efficiently doing his task.

Jose Chaves met with me and did a thorough review of the existing system in the house. He proposed 2 upgrade options, one to just replace the outdoor units, and the other to do the inside system as well. His explanations were patient and detailed, and he offered to email an exact quote within a few days. The quote was on time and seemed appropriate for the job, based on my research on Angie's List and other industry specific websites. I had gotten a competitor's cost estimate a few years ago, and this seemed in line, although slightly more expensive. On installation day, the crew arrived on time, worked a full day, and made sure to explain how to operate the system before they left. All brochures and warranties were also given to me.

When we bought the home we had oil heat with an in the wall AC unit. After dealing with the costs of oil a 12 year old boiler and a poorly installed AC unit we decided that we were going to upgrade our system. We performed a lot of research into the system that we wanted and the vendor that we wanted. Chaves personal were responsive throughout all of our research process. They showed up a number of times at our house even for the simplest question and were very helpful. We ended up replacing our whole system from hot-water baseboard with a Trane central heating and AC system using forced hot air. The system uses LP and an heat pump for heating an cooling, we went with LP because we do not have a NG line down our street. The installers showed up on time, even early sometimes, were professional and neat (I always found the working area cleaned after a days of work), and they did a fabulous job retrofitting our house with the duct work while still making sure that we kept as much of our ceiling space as possible.

Chaves is hands-down the best company to do business with! Very professional and most importantly, responsive. They answer your phone calls! They even willingly give out the cell number of their contact when you call their office. Who does that? And best of all, he answers the phone when you call him. I had had three other AC contractors come to my house. In these cases, the contractor just looked around and waved his thumb in the air and said, yeah, looks about a 3-ton AC unit. One of the contractors was on the Coolsmart preferred provider list. Crossed him right off the list. Andre Chaves came in and took measurements and made computations with the software program on his laptop. He thoroughly explained the advantages of going with the ductless AC system, especially the rebate, which I liked a lot. And oh yea, he puts cloth booties over his shoes so he doesn't wreck your floors. Nice touch. My wife and I signed on with Chaves and the workers came out promptly and had the whole job done (including electrical in about 5 hours). I had seen their work prior to hiring them through one of their references. I was very impressed with their work. These Mitsubishi wall units work great. Keep the house nice and cool on hot days. Chaves definitely doesn't take your money and run. We didn't even have to write him a check right away for the work. Amazing! Andre was great about the follow-up and seeing if we were satisfied with the work. He had all the rebate paperwork prepared for us. We just had to sign it and mail it out. I even called Andre when there was a problem with the rebate and he was helpful in getting it straightened out. Shame on National Grid and their inept rebate dept. I can't recommend these guys highly enough. Great experience.

very satisfied, prompt ,affordable service

My central AC stopped working. Called on Friday afternoon and they came Sat. morning (other companies could not come until the following week). The person on the phone was very good and helpful. The tech (Brian) was very polite and professional. He made the repair in less than 20 minutes. The price was reasonable; they do not charge more for a Sat call (others are time and a half). Based on this experience, I was impressed; seems to be a well run company with a customer service attitude.

The dispatching folks are very pleasant and although my system failed late in the day (Thursday) my A/C was working by mid-afternoon on Friday -- this during a period of high outside temperatures (around 90 degrees). The dispathcers kept me informed as to when the service tech would arrive at my house.
