Chaves Heating & Air Conditioning

Our ductless air conditioning died over the weekend. First thing Monday morning I called company who installed air conditioning. They could not schedule appointment for a couple days because I was not a regular customer.Called Chavez Monday morning. We were not previous customers 2 technicians, Brian and Seth, arrived Monday afternoon. The repair was done within 1/2 hour and the price was quite reasonable. I was so impressed with the technicians that when they offered a service contract for both of our units, I accepted.

Did a great job. Minimized our expenses. I was so pleased with their service that I joined their yearly maintenance program.

From quotation to installation, everything went very well. Andre Chaves gave quotations for various options without being pushy to go for the most expensive option. The work was performed well and everything was cleaned up nicely. I would highly recommend this company.

He told us that the circuit needed to be turned on. He showed us what was in the off position and how to turn it on. While he was there he replaced the unit's filter and recommended a tune up for both heatng and cooling which we gladly took him up on. Overall, very impressed with Chaves HVAC. We signed up for a service agreement that same day!!

The technician was professional, friendly and detailed in his task. He explained what he did and assured us that all systems were good to go. He was right on time and did the work in a timely manner. He left a detailed list of what was performed. We've been Chaves customers for several years. They installed our Trane XV95 high efficiency furnace and the AC coil several yrs ago. While not the least expensive contractors, their costs are well in line with the quality of their work.and suitable for the peace of mind they leave us with.

Excellent job. Installation was flawless -- fast, efficient and of high quality. Installers and sales know the product and are clearly very experienced. They cleaned up after the work was done and left no mess behind. They tested and ran the units before leaving and demostrated their operation. I wish all contractors were this conscientious and capable.

I scheduled an appointment to have routine maintenance done on my AC unit (which Chaves happened to install a few years back). The service technician arrived on time and was very knowledgeable and courteous. Each time he entered the house to access the AC blower in the attic, he wore paper booties over his work boots to keep from tracking dirt around the house. The technician spent several hours at the house, meticulously cleaning and checking all parts of the AC. The condenser unit outside was caked with grass clippings from several years of neglect. He explained how this could harm the system and made sure the fins were all sparkling clean before declaring the job done. I found out afterward (via the emailed receipt) that he had even removed a rodent nest in the attic and plugged the entry point. I'm sure pest control isn't in his job description, but he fixed the problem without even making a big deal about it. Overall, I would highly recommend Chaves for AC maintenance.

They arrived on-time for the estimate and delivered the estimate within 48 hours. Joe Chaves made some recommendations that saved us money on the project. They arrived at the promised date/time to start the work and were complete in 2 days. They cleaned up after each day and left my home spotless once the job was complete (my attic has blown-in insulation which was difficult to work on an keep clean).

They did a furnace installation for me about 10 years ago, I trust them to come in, clean it, and maintain it. I had to send paperwork to Ridge-fields to get approval from all the trustees. It has gone up a little bit every year. I also get an extra filter, I pay $33, and it's big, thick one. I trust them, find them reliable, scheduling is okay, they're easy to work with, and I've been pleased with the work they've done for me. It includes the installation of the furnace and the maintenance afterwards. I'm sure there are other companies that would do it for the same price, one lady did, she got the wrong furnace from someone else, it roared, and someone told her to call me. She did and got another furnace installed by Chaves. They put in Trane furnaces. It's a family owned business, several brothers are working together, they want to do things right, because it effects them as a whole. When you deal with large companies, you have to deal with the salesman, then the customer service, you may not ever get up to the owner, and you are not pleased.

They did a great job and get all A's from me. They came out to help me over the Christmas holiday. They were fast and left space heaters for me while the part was being ordered. I think the price was reasonable for the turnaround they provided and I will use them again in the future.

I had a guy come out on a very cold day at 8 o’clock at night. He said that there was a crack in my furnace and it could not be repaired. I called this company and at that late hour there was somebody to answer the telephone. She was able to have somebody call me right away to say whether they had on hand a furnace that I wanted to buy. They did and they said that they would be at my house at 7:30 in the morning with the new furnace, but in the meantime one of the Mr. Chaves who owns the business would be at my house in 5 minutes. At 9:30 that night this gentleman was at my house because it turned out that he lived 5 minutes from me. I signed on the dotted line asking for information about the information about the available furnaces. I had a new furnace arrive at 7:30 the next morning the next day, although it takes a whole day to put one in, they took the old one away, which was nice. I had heat at the end of that day, so I guess that is terrific. I am guessing I spent under $6000 on that service. I will recommend them to others. I remembered that I called them quite a few years ago when my mother had air-conditioning problems in her condo. It was elderly and it was in the middle of summer and somebody came right away and found out that there was a mouse in the works outside. They needed a part, but they fixed so that it would run continually till they came the following day with the part to put in there so that it would go on and off and maintain a temperature that way. I just thought that they were really terrific doing that and remembered that when my furnace went out. The furnace was a slightly better grade of furnace. The repair man counseled me on the furnace that I had there and he said that a better quality would be better since my house is bigger. He said that I should have had a higher volume furnace, so I did that. They were very professional when I called them. I would call them in a heartbeat if my air-conditioner died this summer.

On Saturday 1/14/12 I discovered a leak in the core of my previous home heating system. The failure was such that I had to drain the system, leaving the house without heat on one of the coldest days of the year. I used Angies List to identify Chaves as a preferred contractor and called after regular hours on Saturday. The answering service put me in touch with the technician on call who in turn put me in touch with one of the managers. The manager came to my house the next morning (a Sunday!) to discuss my options. I was pleased to find out from them that even though I use propane as a heating fuel, they could have workers at my house the next day with a new high-efficiency gas furnace and the parts to convert that furnace from natural gas to propane. The work crew arrived on time the next morning and worked all day to replace the heating system. At 5PM Monday, I had heat. Chaves did an excellent job. The system is performing well and they were very professional. I got a follow up in-house visit from the same manager later in the week to ensure my satisfaction and familiarity with the new system.

We have a heating protection plan with Chaves - we pay approx. $11/month in order to get special benefits should something go wrong with our boiler. This plan also includes a boiler (or furnace, if you have one of those) cleaning and tune-up each fall. The technicians that come by are always very polite, knowledgeable and honest. We haven't had any problems with our boiler yet, but are happy so far with the heating protection plan.

They did good work. They also corrected some issues with the inspection. We will be usinng them from now on for the maintainence.

My family uses Chaves for all of heating and air conditioning needs. On this occasion our heating system failed over the weekend. Chaves came to the house the day of the failure and determined that we needed a new furnace. Though they could not complete the repair until Monday they gave us a portable heater to use over the weekend. First thing Monday morning they replaced the furnace and we had heat again. Chaves has also replaced our air conditioning system. In both instances Chaves was prompt, curteous, and got the job done. With the air conditioner there was a problem withe the pitch of one of the pipes and Chaves immediately returned to correct the problem. Chaves is our go to contractor for all heating and air conditioning needs.

Never provided the promised estimate. Chaves office promtly set up home visit for estimate to install central air in my colonial, and Joe showed up as planned. He was personable and professional. He assured me I'd have the estimate immediately after the weekend if not before. It never came. A couple of weeks later, I called the office and left another message asking for the estimate. Never heard back. Never got the estimate. This was a very disappointing expereince, especially when considering their high ranking on Angie's List.

They were prompt and polite. They did what they said they would do. I liked that they were already recommended on Angie's List so that gave me confidence when I called them. They did a good job. It was a very hot day and they actually had to go up in the attic. They had no problem with that. They were very thorough. They showed us exactly what they did. The AC works very well. I don't know how much these things cost but it was more expensive than I thought.

They were fantastic. There was no hard sell. The guys who came were polite and clean and lovely. It was just a very nice experience. Their price was the market price. It was not necessarily cheap, which is good. They came at exactly 8 O' Clock and it was amazing. I was just pleased with everything.

Very good, and very professional. Gave some great advice for general preventative maintenance.

They were excellent. They were very efficient and gave us very good advice. The installation was done very quickly and in a very good way. They were very clean too. I haven't had any service as good as this in a long time. It was expensive altogether, but it was well worth it.

They were great. The estimate was spot on. They did everything they said they would do. I would rate them high overall and will continue using them in the future.

We have had them for several years. They put in furnaces and air conditioning units. They are a trusted vendor for us. We are very pleased with them. They come when they say they would come and they communicate well. Their office is organized and they seem to know what they are doing.

Tax and energy rebates reduced the costs by $2,500. Received estimates and plans from several service providers. This seemed best design and price. A few glitches in installation, but problems addressed quickly and efficiently. We are considering adding another unit or two, retiring our old furnace and depending on the heat pumps for heat as well as AC. Will call Chaves for estimates and plans when we are ready to take this step.

Joe was very responsive and is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Joe quoted on 3 different Trane systems, all of them too expensive for our budget.

I found the contractor had a strong positive rating on Angie's List so I contacted them. The person who answered the phone at their office was polite, professional, and able to answer my preliminary questions. She accommodated my schedule when setting up an appointment for an estimate. I had already had other estimates so I generally knew what to expect from the meeting. Joe, the salesperson, arrived exactly on time and was friendly and professional. We discussed the project in detail. For the most part the information he gave was consistent with that I'd received previously. However, I asked him, as I had the other salespeople, about placing the outside compressor on the far corner of my house. The other salespeople had been willing to do so for an additional fee. Joe agreed it could be done but additional information he gave me, that the others had not, regarding a decrease in efficiency and potential for various problems down the line helped me understand aesthetics shouldn't be the deciding factor in compressor placement. Joe explained the various system options, identified savings associated with one versus the other (electric company rebates, etc), and described the current company discount without my having to ask. That meeting felt more like an informational session than a sales pitch. The work was started soon (off season discount). Project managers and workers were all polite and professional. Premises were clean daily. I have natural cedar plank cathedral ceilings in the living room and kitchen. I was concerned about the placement of the vents in these rooms so they taped them out on the ceiling for me to see before cutting them. The only thing about the project that might have turned out to be not 100% was that the vents installed in those two rooms were white. This isn't different from what the other contractors would have installed. I spent several hours on the internet looking for the same type of vent in brown or black and couldn't find them anywhere. Why I said might have turned out to be not 100% is that when I found a company to paint the vents for me, the salesperson assurred me someone from Chaves would come to take down the vents for me and then reinstall them after they were painted. Well, they did come and take the vents down. But after 1 call returned a couple of days after I left a message where I was told they couldn't get to me right away and a second call 3 weeks later that went unanswered I gave up and muscled the ladder upstairs and put the vents back up myself. Of course, this was after they'd been paid in full. All in all, this was a reasonable contractor experiences---price was similar to that quoted by other contractors, pre-sale customer services was excellent, and after meeting the installers I had no concerns about not being home during the project. Too bad the post-sale follow-up wasn't up to the level of pre-sale. Had it been my overall rating would have been an A.
