Description of Work: Replace furnace and hot water heater (change over from oil to propane) and installed a central air unit.

Description of Work: They performed routine maintenance, but I also asked them to ensure that both systems (air conditioner and gas furnace) were functioning properly, since my home had received a lightning strike. The technician spent a good bit of time diagnosing problems with the gas furnace, and even contacted his superior for help in resolving all issues. I was very pleased with his attention to detail, and his unwillingness to leave until all remaining issues had been diagnosed and resolved. |I then had CHAVES install a humidifier unit on my gas furnace, and I was similarly impressed with this technician's knowledge and abilities, his attention to detail, his professional approach to his job, etc. I would highly recommend this firm for any HVAC work.

Description of Work: A+++++ We had a new furnace and AC installed by Chaves last October. Far too often, I've been disappointed with service providers in my home. Chaves, however, exceeded my expectations on all levels. To start, with the quoting process, they spent ~90 minutes doing various measurements and calculations and discussed pro's/con's of all options thoroughly- never having purchased a furnace/AC before, it can be overwhelming, but after this first visit, I felt I had a great understanding of our options. Other providers we had quote on the job spent maybe 15 minutes on site, and left us with a few brochures. Chaves was not the cheapest quote we got, however, but at the end I hope you'll realize that they were worth every penny more. As an example, we needed a chimney liner, and other providers did not offer this service, which would have meant another call, another quote, another coordination of service. The slightly higher price was offset in my mind by the convenience of just dealing with them, as well as the overall positive experience and trust I now have in them as a provider proved this to be extra money well spent. The install went very smoothly, the guys cleaned up each night and were very professional. In fact, everyone I dealt with was very professional, courteous, and did exactly what they said, when they said they were going to. They said "We'll be there at 8:00"- 7:59, the truck is pulling into the driveway. I'd send an email with a question, and would get a response within 15-20 minutes every time. The install was also first rate- The electrical inspector from the town even commented how neat and well done the install was. What really made me happy, however, was a small leak we had in one of the drain pipes. Not the fact that we had a small leak, but how they followed up to check on it to make sure it was corrected. Turns out that the sealant had not yet cured fully, so the problem took care of itself after a day- but they still called the next day and said they had technicians in the area, could they stop by and check it out and make sure everything was ok- I didn't call to ask them to do this- they proactively reached out, wanting to make sure I was fully satisfied. Just an example of the great experience and trust I now have in these guys. Wish all other service providers were as reliable and competent. I have no hesitations to use them again, nor should you.....great job guys!

Description of Work: Technicians from Chaves came to our house to inspect our boiler after we discovered it leaking on multiple occaisions. Unfortunately, the day they came, there was no leak and no evidence of a leak. They inspected the unit but couldn't tell us to do more than keep an eye on it and try to take pictures if it happened again. They seemed knowledgable and they were very professional and nice. My husband, after doing some research of his own, found a solution that we were surprised they didn't recommend or even mention, but for something serious, we would be comfortable calling Chaves again. We thought the price was a little steep for what little service they provided, but as we understand it, that's pretty standard for the industry.

Description of Work: We had a ductless air conditioning unit installed in 2007...today we had another unitinstalled on our second floor....each time we have had more than positive dealing with ALL employess within this company..including their sub contracted Electricians! Manny the owner is a top notch guy that won't disappoint you ever, he stands behind his work and is more the willing to educate the client and also keep you informed..making it right if you feel it is not! They go above and beyond and we have reffered them out several times with out and negative feedback...mostly for plumbing and for ductless air..... Give them a try you'll be happy you did!

Description of Work: They had excellent service and were responsive when I schedulued an estimate. He made the most sense, and within a week I had the estimate. Mr. Chaves himself came to my house.

Description of Work: Contacted these folks via email to discuss installing central AC to my home. NEVER heard a word back. Not even a 'thanks, not interested'. Don't put an email contact listing if you either a) don't monitor it or b) don't take it seriously when someone contacts you.

Description of Work: I have used Chaves for over 15 years for various HVAC jobs, including replacing the original (35 year old) original HVAC system in my house- a boiler, a furnace, cental air, humidifier. I have also used them for my daughters house. for maintenence.I also have maintenance contracts for all my HVAC equipmejnt with them that checks the equipment, changes filters, etc. I have always found their staff efficient, and careful to use shoe covers, and clean up when done. While I could have avoided maintenence contracts if I was willing to take proper care myself, I find that it always gets done proerly, and on time, when they do it. The contract also gets me a discount when service repairs not covered by the maintenance contract needs to be done. They are not the least expensive, but are priced fairly for the level of service they offer. Additionally, they have a full time office staff to answer the phone, so I never have to leave messages on an answering machine. If they are needed in a hurry, they can be reached quickly. I originally got their name from other business people in Hudson (Hudson Appliance), who spoke highly of them.

Description of Work: I'm a r.e. agent and a buyer client of mine needed to have some worked looked at that a seller had had done by a handyman. This work was supposed to be done prior to closing and the thought was that it was going to be done by a hvac person. Given this was not the case we had to get someone in there fast to verify the work was done to code and correctly. The closing was less than a week away. I told Chaves the problem and spoke with Manny. Manny had me send pictures over and then when he couldn't verify the work he stopped by the house the next day! Turns out the work was "probably" okay but not to code. Was an easy fix and Manny took care of it. Highly recommend them!
