The work went smoothly, and efficiently. The shed and pen were torn down, and all the debris was removed and hauled away.

I hired this company to clear snow off my roof and break an ice dam. I don't have to explain how hard it was to find a contractor who would do it, given the harsh winter we've had. Here's my experience so far: The good: Joshua's brother arrived at my house an hour after I called, which was impressive. He quoted me a pretty high price in my opinion (for an hour of work), but times were desperate and I was willing to pay that amount. He was very talkative and promised me that hacking the roof with an axe is safe and that he was accountable for it should there be any damage. The bad: That night after the work was done, water started leaking into the house again. I called Joshua the next day and he argued that this was new snow (there wasn't any snow between the time he worked on my roof and the time I called). I explained to him that this is not acceptable and he has to either refund me so I can find someone else who will do it, or come back and finish the job. He decided to come back, and indeed the water stopped coming into the house. I was happy with his sense of responsibility and expressed my interest in hiring him to fix the ceiling with the water damage. The ugly: Weeks later the snow started melting. Every day I noticed more and more shingles lodged in the ice, directly under there the ice dam was broken. I called a roofer I trust to come and look at it. His analysis was shocking. My roofer reported that there is extensive mechanical damage on the roof, and that it was punctured in several places. These guys literally shoveled my roof out with the snow. The damage is estimated at $3000. I contacted Joshua and explained to him the situation. His first response was "Give me his name!" (i.e the roofer). I gave the roofer's name, and that was the end of my communication with More than able. They will not return my calls, text messages, emails. Nothing. So now I am left with no choice but to take Joshua to court, which is the last thing I imagined myself doing when I hired his axe holding brother to remove a lesser problem of water damage to the ceiling. To make things worse, I never received an invoice, and despite my repeated requests at that I doubt I ever will. My homeowner's insurance will not reimburse me the cost without an invoice. Recap: I paid $800 for a guy to break my roof *** Update 4/21/15 *** The owner(Joshua) sent me an invoice about a week after posting this review, and is actively helping me get get a settlement from the homeowner insurance company for the damage. In our conversations he appeared to have a genuine interest in a resolution that will make me happy. The good news is that he has acknowledged his responsibility in damaging my roof, but hopes that the resolution will come from the insurance company. I'll update again when it's all over and fixed.

Josh answered my call and was at my home within a couple of hours. He was friendly, professional and quick with the task at hand. Our roof is now free from snow and the ice dams have channels cut through so the water can get down.

Everything went really well. Josh, the owner, was very responsive, followed up with a quote within an hour of my call, and had a crew of four out to the house within a few days. Once there, they did an excellent job, and Josh followed up with me personally to make sure that everyhing was okay with the work.

I called Josh and he responded immediately which impressed me. We set up a specific date and time for him to come to my house a few days later. He never showed up. I then continued to text and call him with no responses. I finally heard back from him a day and a half later. He did come later that day to remove the snow from my roof and was supposed to prevent future ice dam damage I was having (cracks, leaks, drips, etc. ) He came back the next day to finish the job so I thought it would be ok. I continued to have ice dam damage after that and text him-no response whatsoever. I also needed to get a copy of the invoice for my insurance company. Again, text him for a week, no response. He finally text back saying he would send it that day and never did. The insurance company came and thankfully accepted a copy of the cashed check. I understand that with all the storms we have had these are challenging times. But companies should not take on more customers than they can handle just to make more money. And it is completely irresponsible and unprofessional not to respond to someone even with a short text. I now need to find another company to actually fix the ice dams in my house as he did not, as was promised, and the damage is getting worse each day. At least I got the snow off my roof!

A recent snowstorm dumped 2 1/2 feet of snow on my roof. In some places the drifts were 3 feet deep. I was concerned about both the weight and ice damming and wanted the entire surface cleared. The house is a 4-bedroom hip-roof with an attached garage and extension on the back, so the roof area is larger than usual. I checked Angie's List and saw the good reviews for More than Able. I called and, even though it was a Saturday and he was out of the office, Joshua answered promptly. I explained the problem. We made arrangements. He even offered for them to come that evening to do the work if I would like, but, as it wasn't an emergency, we agreed they would come the next morning (Sunday). The next morning Rick and Sean arrived. They were very pleasant, courteous and professional. We discussed what I needed. They assessed the job and Rick quoted me a price which I feel was quite fair and reasonable for the amount of work required. They did a great job of clearing the snow. Their work was thorough and it was apparent that they were careful not to damage shingles, bushes, etc. Not only was I left with a well-cleared roof, I have the bonus of a very neatly shoveled path around the side of my home to the back, which they had dug out in order to access the extension!

Called to see if they could help with large ice dams on the north-facing side of our house after the repeated snowstorms. Josh answered the phone, even on a Sunday, and asked me to text him my phone number and address. He called back an hour or so later and said that he had some guys that might be able to come the same day, and that he would get back to me. He couldn't provide an estimate for the cost of the work over the phone, but gave me a range that seemed reasonable. A couple of hours later, I got a call that the guys were on their way. Josh's brother Mike (Matt?) and Rick came at around 5:30 pm, and got to work right away. Given the impending darkness, they needed light, and they asked if I could run to the Home Depot nearby to pick up some work lights - even gave me the $20 for the lights. They worked fast, and did a great job, clearing snow entirely from the first floor roof, and clearing half the snow from the upper level. Also created channels in the ice to prevent water damage from further melting snow and the ice dams. All in all, worked hard for about 2 hours. They were professional, and worked fast and hard. I highly recommend them.

I highly recommend Josh for any bathroom remodel. After completing our full batch remodel, we hired him to complete our 3/4 master bathroom. We liked the final results. We didn't like the punctuality. There were a lot of no show days and it took about twice as long as they said it was going to. Sometimes they called to tell us they weren't coming and sometimes they didn't.

Hi [member name removed], In response to the report, I do apologize for the delays on the project. Seeing as it has been a year since the work, you may have forgotten that I had lost employees during the time of your project, and it had put me behind schedule. I do apologize for the delays, but I am glad you are happy with the overall project. Sincerely, Josh Newman of More Than Able

I could have overlooked the delays in the project, but I could not overlook everything else that went wrong. Surfaces were not properly prepped, paint drips everywhere, spots were missed, some items were painted where no paint was requested, materials not cleaned up at the end of the day, trash left in yard, damage to my house. I was told that no sub-contractors would be used, and yet strangers showed up to do the work.

Hi (member name removed), I'd like to start by apologizing for the lack of attention put towards your project. I was very short staffed during that time and was behind on multiple projects, therefore I was left with workers who were not as responsible as I usually hire and have working on my jobsites. I had thought that I had taken care of any issues that may have been a problem in regards to quality of work, and if you need anything else remedied, I would be glad to come out and take care of it personally. The staffing issues in my company have now been resolved. I apologize that your project fell into that difficult time period. Sincerely, Josh Newman of More Than Able

Needed a rush job for water seeping under the roof due to ice dams. Josh did a good same-day rush job, thoroughly cleaned out the ice dams, and made sure to remove free ice from the ground afterward. In the context of the market prices for this type of service, I consider his charge reasonable. Appreciate the professionalism!

He came in and was one of three people we interviewed. He had a good price. There was another price in a similar range but we really liked him - he was a nice person. His other reviews were good, but it was a nightmare for us and the nightmare continues.
Description of Work: Subpar work, long delays- may have worked 1 full day and sometimes not at all, left during day for long periods- sometimes hours , scratched hardwood floors, broke vase and plant pot. Left early before we returned and we found back door wide open on a 30 degree day while heat was on. Toilet is installed incorrectly. keeps making random flushing noise. The tile border in the bathtub does not match the rest of tile. He also installed 12X12 sheets of mosiac tiles as a backsplash in our kitchen. After he was finished but was still there, I wiped down the counters. There was a 10" perfectly straight scratch on my 1 year old solid surface counter. He said it was absolutely not him. I knew it was- it was not there when I wiped down the counters in the morning. He left for lunch and when he returned he admitted it could have been him. He said it was possible his hand had slipped when he was cutting. HE USED MY COUNTER AS A CUTTING STATION FOR THE TILE. At night, with the overhead lights on many additional smaller scratches were visible. The next day he told my husband that we could purchase a kit to remove the scratches. At that point ( now well into the 2nd week) my husband was furious. He told Josh to either finish the job or he should get his stuff that was all over the upstair hall and get out. He returned early the next day and worked until the job was completed - Not completed well, but finally finished. Now we are stuck with a toilet (not the one I had picked out but a cheaper one that he picked up) that may have been installed incorrectly or may be defective.

I have made unsuccessful attempts to resolve this with the homeowner. This was the last email I had sent to them: Hello [member name removed], I am writing you in regards to the report you had written on Angie’s List. I was unaware that you had felt this way about the project. When we had last spoke, I had told you that if there were any issues or anything that needed to be resolved, I would gladly take care of it. The last I had checked my report with you, I had straight A’s from you. Now I come to find that the report is an F. Some of the things that were written I did not agree with, and other things that were said I agree with and take responsibility for. I would like to start with the counter-tops. I did not use it for a cutting station. And I did not want to offend you in any way when I was accused for doing so, but between me, you and God, I did not do the damage that occurred to the countertop. And it was quite offensive to repair and spend my time and money to fix something that I did not do, in order to bring comfort to the project. In regards to the upstairs floors, there were scratches on that dark hardwood that your dogs may have done. And if I had added any scratches to the upstairs floors, I apologize, but yet was unaware of this ever happening. In regards to the tile, I had just picked up the tiles that you had picked out at Lowe’s and installed them. It was never brought to my attention that there was a color difference. And clearly if it was an issue, it should have been discussed with me, as this is obviously something that I would attend to. In regards to the toilet, if you don’t recall- two toilets were brought to that project. The first one, that you picked out at Lowes and was brought to the bathroom, you said that they gave you the wrong one. Then, we returned that one and got the requested toilet. After it was installed, I received the report saying that this one was the wrong one also. I was quite confused. The toilet that was installed did have a factory defect, and if you remember, I did drive over an hour to fix the defected toilet because it is my responsibility to take care of any issues on the job site. The door left open was an embarrassment to my company and should not have happened. The delays in the project, I take responsibility for. I was unexpectedly short staffed and over booked. I apologize for not giving your project more attention. I did not want to respond publicly on Angie’s List because I take each job very personally. Before I leave any customer, I just request that if there is anything that I can do to make them satisfied, that I would do it. I would like to discuss the project and the report further with you before I post my response on Angie’s List. I would like the report to be fair and accurate. I had worked with you and John and realized that you are nice people and all I would like is a fair response. Sincerely, Josh Newman

Overall, "More Than Able" did an excellent job. I would hire Mr. Josh Newman again. I would recommend Mr. Josh Newman and his team to others. Q: Did Josh do work for you before? No, this was the first project. Before I hired Josh, I called the references he provided, and checked out reviews on Angie's List. I liked the feedback on Josh and his team. Q: Was I completely satisfied with the quality of the work? Yes absolutely. · Q: Did Josh communicate well with you? Before starting and during the project? Yes. Either Josh called me or he returned my calls the same day or no later than the next day. Very professional and timely communication. · Q: Were they neat? Did they clean up on a daily basis? And after the job was completed? They cleaned up completely each day. · Q: Was the job started and completed on time? If not, why not? The job was started as promised, and completed ahead of schedule. · Q: Did you have any problems with their work? Did they address any problems in a timely manner? And resolve the issue to your satisfaction? I checked the work at the end of each day. That was my preference. If I found any issues, they were taken care. I was completely satisfied with the end results. · Q: Do you feel the pricing was fair? Was your project completed on budget? · Would you use them again? The pricing was reasonable, and completed on budget. I would use them again. I would refer them to a friend.:
Description of Work: Josh repaired ice dam related water damage to the interior of my condo. This included inspection for mold behind drywall, water damage repairs to drywall, and painting of ceilngs and walls in two rooms, one bathroom, and one closet. I liked Josh's work so midway through the project, I asked him to paint the remainder of the walls of the whole condo. When Josh replaced water damaged insulation in the basement, he identified damaged insulation from a separate issue. I asked Josh to do this incremental insulation replacement project as well.

Josh is a very talented carpenter, and has the ability to do some of the things that an architect can do, like write up plans, and have the vision to transform spaces. The interior work on my home was done so flawlessly that we also had him build us a new deck, and just recently he performed more tile work for us.His wife is also a very talented interior designer, and she helped us pick out window treatments and wall colors. I highly recommend Josh and his team, and will be sure to use his services in the future.

Although this company completed our tile floor quickly (which we needed), the job itself was incomplete and left us frustrated and disappointed. It was clear that the owner of this company had been in a hurry to finish the job. Not only were the tiles not cleaned of grout, but there were two areas in which no grouting was done. Also, the grout that meets the base of the vanity was smeared across the front of the vanity and left to harden in a messy mound in a corner between the vanity and an adjoining wall. Although this area is not visible under most circumstances, the careless manner in which the grout was applied was terribly unprofessional. When I brought these concerns to his attention, he stated that grout had been applied, but had shrunk (This is not possible , given that there is a 1-inch gap between the last tile and the baseboard - which was installed after the tiling had been "completed"- and the sub-floor can be seen in this entire area). When asked if he had taken the remainder of the grout, he stated that he would get back to me after checking his truck. After waiting to hear from him for 3 days, I again called to ask about the grout. This time he stated that he had taken it, but that there was very little left. Instead of offering to come and fix the problem, which would simply have required him to add grout in two areas and clean grout off the tiles, he told me that he would drop the grout off at my house. It took another full week for him to be in the vicinity of my house so that he could drop off the grout. Over half of the bag of grout remained! To add insult to injury, he had also taken the liberty of using my bag of floor leveler, which was not going to be used for this job, I doubt he applied any of that bag to the sub-floor, in light of the fact that the floor needed only minor filling before the sub-floor was laid over. So, if you need a job completed quickly, this may be your guy. If you want a floor done in a professional manner and one that you will be happy with, look elsewhere!

We had set two different times via email in regards to the appointment. I had arrived according to the later time that I mistakenly thought was correct. I had brought this to Member's attention at the time of the appointment showing her the times that we had discussed, and she said she understood. But my apologies again. After doing the estimate, there still was an uncomfortable feeling in regards to my tardiness, and I had felt that perhaps Members did not want my services. Therefore, I did not provide them with a quote. The job was not too small. And I do apologies for any miscommunication or inconvenience.

We actually called them twice! We had 2 ice dams this past winter from all of the storms we had back to back. As busy as he was, Joshua answered each call himself. I was so impressed by how calm and patient he was considering how his phone literally never stopped ringing. When I called and told him I needed him to come by and remove my ice dam, he did let me know he wouldn't be able to come that day, but he would be there the next day and if my memory serves me, I do believe he was. It took them quite a while to fix the problem. But he did fix it and the little rivers of water running down my wall finally stopped. Until the following week when we had yet another storm. I called him again and back they came and this time, he even knocked $200 off his fee. I was happy about that.
Description of Work: Joshua and another guy came to remove an ice dam that was very high on my roof.

Responded quickly and were able to perform service on the same day. Showed me pictures of what they did on Josh's iphone. Very professional on the phone and in person. Josh also consulted with me about mold in my attic during the same visit. I think that the pricing was fair, and as far as I know the work was done well. The ice dam problem was fixed, but I have not been able to get up on the roof to look for any damage from the ice removal on my upper roof. There was a damaged shingle on my lower roof that I know was not damaged before the ice removal. I can't imagine that you'd be able to chisel ice off a roof without some damage, though. I did ask (by email) for the pictures Josh took, but never received them.
Description of Work: Chiseled ice off of my roof b/c of ice dam. Put calcium chloride in areas to help the rest of the ice drain off when it melted

Josh answered the phone right away, estimate was done within an hour, and work started an hour later. It took 2-3 guys about 6 hours I would estimate.
