They were very professional. They were very nice to my mother, who is elderly and is the person who hired them. They didn't bother her and weren't loud throughout the job. They got the job done in the time frame that they said, they would have it done by.
Description of Work: JMS was hired to replace 100 feet of gutter and fascia board. They also put up PVC trim around the gutters they replaced. They also, painted all of the PVC trim.

From start to finish and in every aspect of the job, the work that JMS Partners did showed a stunning level of professionalism, quality and true customer service. John Tartaglione, the owner, is a true business partner. He took the time to listen very carefully to our ideas at every step of the process. Along with his team of equally professional and high quality employees, subcontractors and vendors, John translated our ideas into plans that met our budget. John also scores very high points on communication. He kept us informed at all times to ensure that we were aware of schedules, and to ensure that we understood everything that was happening. He offered flexibility in his schedule to accommodate our needs. Every step of the process was communicated clearly and performed to a high degree of quality. When unanticipated issues arose, John dealt with them immediately. He not only excels at customer service, he goes above and beyond. At one point when our air conditioning wasn't functioning due to excavation around the existing compressor, John bought and hauled over a wide area air conditioner so we would be cool for the weekend. We had made no such request, but John wanted us to be comfortable. John is a creative thinker and very talented problem solver. He made sure that he had our input and agreement on every aspect of the project. He listens very carefully, pondered all possible solutions, discussed them with us and kept us informed at all times. He works hard to provide the best products at the best price. We obtained other quotes on this job prior to hiring JMS. John's quote was by far the most extensively detailed, planning for all sorts of contingencies, and was right on target. John is *really* into the details and never forgets anything. We ended up with a superb product, and it was always a pleasure dealing with John and his affiliates. In sum, we have never met or heard of a contractor of John's caliber! We would emphatically recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Garage and workshop addition. The job entailed architectural plans, partial demolition of existing structure, extensive excavation, relocation of gas and electric utilities, dealing with unexpected groundwater issues and construction and wiring and roofing of new structure.

We had such high hopes for this company after reading how highly recommended they were here on Angie's List. John returned our call promptly on a weekend night and was even ready to schedule a visit to our house on short notice. Unfortunately, he wanted $700 up front. We've worked with a number of builders in the past and never had to put cash up front just for a bid. Even the building inspector thought it was out of the ordinary. The JMS description here mentions free estimates, but that wasn't the case for us. It felt like our situation was being exploited. We ended up getting free estimates from three other builders.
Description of Work: We contacted JMS Partners, Inc. after our house was destroyed by water from a burst pipe. We needed a reputable builder on a short notice.

John handled the process from start to finish with amazing professionalism and attention to detail. He spent a long time working with us in advance of the project to be sure that we considered every aspect. He's the only contractor I have ever known who emailed us every day with information on what had been done and what was coming up; we knew we could reach him by phone any time of the day or evening with questions. The men who came to our home to do the work were terrific, every one. They were uniformly professional, courteous, neat, and respectful. They cleaned up after themselves every day. And they did come every day they were supposed to, without fail, often staying later than they were supposed to in order to finish a task properly. The job was completed on time, and basically on budget (we did add some things which cost more). We love our new room!
Description of Work: JMS Partners finished our basement, creating a beautiful playroom/media room, as well as a pantry and out-of-season storage closet. They installed a large French door to our patio; removed a lally column and installed a new support beam; created a custom niche for media cabinets; finished the whole space; put in a separate heating zone; painted and installed carpeting.

As expensive as this turned out to be (and there is more to go once we have the $ saved) - this was a really good experience. John is an excellent communicator - uses email daily, calls when something urgent - worked really well for my husband and me. He had two of his guys as regulars to us - Dean and Steve. They were fabulous. Meticulous in their work including daily clean up - very respectful and very nice. We might actually miss seeing them around. They subcontracted the gutter replacement yet took full accountability for the workers - Dean or Steve was there to oversee their work and make sure they did it right! We had one big gotcha - John measured incorrectly for our front windows and ordered the wrong windows. This added 6 weeks to the project (6 weeks of nothing but a dumpster taking up room in our driveway) and while this was disappointing - John compensated us for the inconvenience and touched base every couple of weeks to let us know status. As we all know, something will probably go wrong in any project like this - it is how the service providers responds to issues that really makes the difference. John was up front on any issues and very professional in response and resolution.
Description of Work: The front wall of my house had been seriously damaged from years of water seeping into them (since before I had bought the house). John did a thorough assessment and let us know that until he ripped out part of one wall, he would not know how bad the damage was. They did a neat and appropriate 'peek' and unfortunately for us - the damage was severe. He redid all the estimates and we agreed we would just do a section of the house at a time. They ended up doing entire front walls of house and part of back. Replacing all gutters and downspouts (subcontracted this but they oversaw the work) and 4 front windows and front door.

John Tartaglione is extremely professional, listens carefully to what you want, is very courteous, and provides helpful guidance. John and his crew were always punctual and polite. As we waited for materials to be delivered, John kept us updated on the status. Though this was a small job for this company, we were always treated as a valuable client. Steve did most of the work at our place, and his workmanship was immaculate. Our crown molding was carefully coped and everything was done with attention to detail. I m a very picky person and was absolutely satisfied with the work done. I plan to invite them back this year for additional projects.
Description of Work: Installed crown molding in living room, hallway, and three bedrooms, replaced island countertop with butcher-block, built built-in bookcase in dining area, installed recessed medicine cabinet in bathroom.

We were immediately reassured the moment that John arrived. He is not only a professional but a gentleman. He diagnosed the problem and offered two alternatives of varying prices. But he even reminded us that since this had been a most unusual December and that people who'd never had ice dams before were experiencing them, that the less expensive alternative was probably the way to go. Imagine that! A contractor suggesting the less expensive plan! Unheard of. The job was completed on time and his employees were as professional as he was. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
Description of Work: In December, we had an ice dam that forced water into our house for the first time in the 10+ years. We lived here. We called several companies on a Saturday. Not only did JMS call us back promptly, but in fact they were the only company to even return our call. The owner, John Tartaglione, immediately came over himself and thoroughly inspected our roof inside and out.

I found JMS here, called them and 3 other contractors to give us an estimate to remodel a home we wanted to purchase. JMS called me back within 24 hours, the rest of the contractors either didn't call or took 4-5 days. The home was in foreclosure and horrible shape, and the remodel was way out of our budget, so we decided against it. We found the perfect house, but the front porch isn't built or secured to the house properly. I called John at JMS again, I admit I was afraid that he would be a "typical contractor" and blow me off since he had already given me one estimate on a house I didn't own. What a surprise! He squeezed it in to his schedule as we were on a time crunch to sign our P&S. We are 3 weeks away from closing on the house, and I will definitely have JMS do the work when we get settled in. John Tartaglione has been responsive, kind and helpful, I really look forward to having him work on our home. If his work is as good as our initial experience, I know we will be thrilled.
Description of Work: FIRST! We WILL use them when we are ready to do the project. He gave us an estimate for a rehab on a house we were interested in purchasing. When we decided against that home (way too much work for a first time home buyer) we found another and had him come give us an estimate to rebuild the front porch per our home inspector. ($6,500)

We really like working with and spending time with John Tartaglione. After all the other folks were interviewed, we determined that John stands head and shoulders above the rest. He has incredible integrity, honesty, and flexibility. He has worked quite a bit to help us determine what we can accomplish within our budget, and he has been very good at deriving solutions to issues. His attention to detail, large and small, is truly remarkable. All of John's subcontractors have been really super too; nice people, great work, and everything was cleaned up at the end of every day! These encounters have only added to our good feelings about John and JMS Partners.
Description of Work: Drainage trenches were dug behind our house and out to the side yard where the terrain slopes away. This included removing significant ledge (rock). Solid and perforated pipes were placed appropriately and covered with gravel and cloth to keep out the silt. New gutters were installed, and the new down spouts were integrated with the new drainage system. Everything was then re-graded, and covered either with seeded soil or gravel as required. A small retaining wall was rebuilt. Architectural plans have been developed for an addition to the house, including a garage and wood shop. Significant effort has been expended towards figuring out how to move all the utilities while allowing us to stay in the house during construction.

They were absolutely fantastic. It was more expensive than others but well worth the extra. The contractor was here every day, to see how everything was, and to see if I was happy. We even went on vacation. I gave him the keys and he looked after my home. I really trust this guy.
Description of Work: They tiled my 9 foot by 3 foot half bathroom. They added a shower and re-plastered the walls. They turned my 1200 square foot basement into a gym, bathroom, laundry room, family room, office and bedroom. They tiled it, put up drywall, put in 1 new door and 4 new windows that go on the back. They also replaced the front door threshold and made new front steps. They began in April and they finished in August.

Everything went great. John Tartaglione was fantastic. He was on the job site every day checking to make sure things went smoothly. He knew that we had had a bad experience prior to hiring him, and he really went the extra mile to make sure we were happy all the way through. I can't stress enough how great this whole team was. They even threw in a few extras for us that they certainly did not have to do. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a great quality paint job, and would be happy to speak to anyone about our experience!
Description of Work: Some scraping, and sanding was done before the paint job, although a lot of it was done by another painter who never actually completed the job. They powerwashed the house, primed, and painted with 2 coats on the body, and one coat on trim. They were attentive to detail, and always cleaned up before they left.

They quality of the work was excellent. The basement windows did not turn out exactly as I wanted but I think that is more my fault than theirs. Unfortunately the project was delayed until winter due to problems with approval by the town Board of Health and others. Dave and Steve got started in January, and braved some bad weather to get it framed in. In early spring the windows arrived, and within about a month the job was completed. We received the room we wanted, with JMS providing ideas, for our approval. No detailed plans or engineer's drawings were necessary.

From the start, John Tartaglione was very helpful. He questioned thoroughly and searched to provide us with room that would best serve our needs and budget. He went out of his way to save us money and to address minor details so we'd be pleased with the results. He had endless patience for my many questions and changes in plan. Since he knew that I was anxious about the work being completed before winter, he'd always reassure me that he hadn't forgotten about our job. Once they started, every day he'd come by to check on the progress and see if I had any concerns or questions. The workers were great! They were knowledgeable, very handy, courteous and friendly. We went from a falling down, old 3 season porch to a useful sunroom that adds a lot of value to our home. Everyone who saw it; inspectors, other people working on the house, and neighbors all commented on what exceptionally good and swift work was done. We couldn't have been more pleased.
Description of Work: Completely demolished old porch, excavated and removed old foundation piers and installed new ones. Built new pressure treated frame with new roof and ceiling, supplied and installed new gutters, supplied and installed 6 new Low E Argon Harvey windows. Applied vinyl siding and trim to walls and installed vinyl lattice and screening below the siding. Installed 4 electrical outlets, electrical baseboard heat (builder supplied) with thermostat, ceiling light, outdoor light. Insulated room to R-19 and floor also insulated. Supplied and installed trim for baseboards and windows. Supplied and installed carpet and pad. Painted room. Obtained building permits and inspections and supplied dumpster and cleaned up. Took about 1 month.

Working with John Tartaglione of JMS Partners was an extremely positive experience. The design of the home was very complex and the end result is gorgeous. John spends a large amount of time going over the details of the project so we always new what was going to happen, when, and for how much. John worked with us throughout the project to assist in making decisions on what products to use and how to keep on budget. John always was able to provide samples and pro/cons of using different materials and products. Working with JMS is more of a team effort and that worked well for my wife and I. All of the subs used by JMS produce high quality work. The trim work and plastering was especially well done. Building a custom home always has its challenges, but working with JMS allowed us to take the architect's vision and turn it into a finished product.
Description of Work: JMS Partners was hired to build a new 3100 sq ft Greek Revival farmhouse in Bolton, MA. JMS handled all work from excavation to framing to finish work. House was designed with many period details and extensive exterior trim work. The house also features 800 sq ft of wrap around porch and stone faced patios. JMS was in charge on the project from start to occupancy.

John did an excellent job in keeping the project going since we had so many different things fixed or replaced. He is very professional, dependable, conscientious, follows up on details, keeps the customer well informed, and has a good working relationship with the subcontractors he uses. We were extremely pleased and would definitely recommend him. We hope to use him again in another inside project we're thinking about.
Description of Work: From July to November 2005, JMS Partners (John Tartaglione) contracted for us a new roof, new gutters, shingle replacement, wood replacement, new front porch, removal of old plantings in front of house, installation of new plantings, new paint job on house, new kitchen window, and new back door. John is highly professional, a perfectionist, and an excellent general contractor. All the subcontractors such as electricians, painters, carpenters that he has sent to work on our home have been equally talented, professional, and courteous. John guarantees all of his work and does not hesitate to return to our home time and time again to fix minor problems. He is slightly higher than other contractors, but well worth it. Due to the quality of his work, he is sometimes quite busy and hard to pin down, but usually punctual!
