Description of Work: Basement Waterproofing and Foundation Repair
Steve is the best. It has been a while since he did the work and I told him, at the time, that I intended to write a review. Unfortunately time passed and now I am finally writing the well deserved review as promised. Steve is the master. He knows precisely what to do and how to do it. He also was able to analyze a problem with the drainage and resolved it appropriately. He is most knowledgeable. He knows what he is talking about. He is experienced and professional. I will always call Steve. Do not waste your time or money with other companies,

My experience with Real Dry was exceptional throughout the whole process. Last year, we were getting water in our basement whenever there was a heavy rain. Steve came and assessed the situation, and recommended digging wells around our basement windows and door and filling them with gravel for better drainage straight down (rather than toward the house/windows). We initially talked about also digging a well in the front of the house, where water would pool due to our lack of gutters and then come in through the foundation. So the initial estimate included all of that. When Steve arrived on the actual day with his crew, I told him that I didn't think we needed to have a well in the front of the house because I was planning on getting gutters and that should take care of that. He adjusted the estimate accordingly with absolutely no hassle. The work itself was done quickly and professionally and the basement has been bone dry ever since, despite some incredibly heavy rain. I HIGHLY recommend this company for basement waterproofing projects.

Steve came right out and built dams on each side of the tree belt piping, using pebbles and earth. Again, a very creative and skilled solution. By the time the health inspector came out, our storm water was flowing right into the street storm sewer, as required. The inspector's only comment was "whoever did this knew what they were doing". So this firm has demonstrated over several years just how effective they are. They stand by their clients years after a job is completed, and possess knowledge and expertise to solve thorny problems. An exceptional firm and team. I highly highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We wee fortunate enough to hire Real Dry Waterproofing in late 2014 to fix a significant basement water problem, as our home was built over an underground spring. We have had a bone dry basement ever since. The storm water pumped out of our basement was so voluminous that it flooded our front yard. Real Dry devised a creative system of underground pipes to channel the water to the street storm sewer system. All within town codes and parameters. All was well for 3.5 years until an extremely wet spring and drivers driving over our tree belt, altered the drainage channel originally put into place by Real Dry. As a result, water started pooling between the tree belt and the street. Pesky town officials got involved, saying we needed to fix the problem. We called Steve at Real Dry to see if he could help again, before we got cited by the health dept.

Our basement flooded recently during a huge rainstorm. I called Steve and he came by the same day to assess the situation and give us a quote. His crew camew the next day and performed the necessary work. We were very pleased with all aspects of our experience. We felt the quote was very fair and they couldn't have been more responsive!

Steve called me back the same day and came out the following day to look at the situation. He immediately saw that my window well was not deep enough and during a heavy rain the water was coming in and traveling down between the foundation and the wall of the finished basement - seeping out onto the floor. His diagnosis make total sense to me. He quoted me a very reasonable price to 1) dig out the window well and line it with stone 2) install an extension of my downspout that takes the water several feet away from the house underground. He even designed it around my unground sprinkler system. Excellent service! I would highly recommend this company.

Steve from Real Dry is a consummate professional. He is honest, trustworthy and punctual. I was very very with impressed with my interaction with him and real dry. I wish all contractors, providers, vendors and service people were as upstanding as Real Dry. I highly recommend them for solving any water problem.
Description of Work: I live in Florida and I’m trying to sell my deceased father’s house in Springfield. I got a call and some photos from our realtor that there was water in the basement and a leak was running down the basement wall. I called Real Dry and left a message. Steve returned my call within 10 min. I explained the situation and sent a video the realtor took. From the video Steve determined that our gutters were clogged and water was pooling under the gutter leak. I knew a buyer would not be interested in a home with a leaky basement so I asked Steve to come to the house and assess the damage. He came the very next day. Long story short…. Real Dry found where the water was coming in. Steve determined that waterproofing wasn’t necessary and even offered to waive his charge for the inspection. That is how you do business!

After Steve gave an estimate and after reading the other reviews on Angie's List, I was convinced this was the company to go with. Decision was not based on price alone but the text of the reviews read, it helped influence my decision. Good for his word - Steve described what they were going to do, kept the quote given and the amount of time needed to complete the project. (They finished ahead of schedule.) Even though electric jackhammers were used, the noise level was low, the project went smoothly and they cleaned up afterwards. Highly recommended and they stand behind a guarantee. Thanks again.
Description of Work: Basement Waterproofing . . . For many years my basement had constant water leakage after 24 hours of straight rain or after the snow melt during the spring thaw. Many attempts to control the water leakage failed, control was a reliable wet/ dry shop vac & a sump pump (that quit after 10 years) the cycle repeats itself yearly.
The work went very well. The men worked non stop for Three days. They were very professional but friendly. Curt was always responsive on phone when they discovered additional work to be done. The added cost was reasonable.
Description of Work: I hired Real Dry last Fall. The basement in a house I do not occupy was getting water in every time it rained. Curt's crew dug trenches along walls and put piping in They cemented over pipes leaving access for water to run and be pumped out. They fixed my walls and parged them (with cement). They installed a sump pump, connected all pipes to trenches dug in the yard for water to be pumped out and covered up with dirt and grass. The men cleaned up the rubble and any extra dirt and removed it. They even cleaned up a pile of rubble that was left by another contractor in yard.

Steve Wall and Real Dry Waterproofing were fantastic! Steve came out and checked over my basement very soon after I called him and started working soon after that. Steve is a very nice person. He explained in detail what the problem was and how he and his crew would fix it. They did a great job. A few days after doing the repair I noticed that there was still a very small leak that was coming from the very corner of the hall where the larger pool of water had initially appeared; this area was virtually hidden by a large bookcase that went almost all the way up to the ceiling at that location. When I called Steve he came out right away and surveyed the situation and a few days later moved the bookcase and slightly extended the drainpipe he had originally placed before and covered this extension with new concrete. This extra work was done at no additional cost to me. Thus in summary: I am extremely pleased with the work I had done and Steve Wall is one of the nicest persons I have met. I give him and his company my very highest review. (As a university professor and research scientist I don't undertake reviews lightly.)
Description of Work: After more than 40 years in my home suddenly one night I discovered a puddle of water at the bottom of the stairs that go down to my finished basement which has my study, a large furnished den and a bathroom. To say the least I was very concerned. After looking through basement waterproofing on Angie's list I decided to call Real Dry Waterproofing. I was very, very glad I did.

Got quote from owner, but the crew sent had very limited communication skills and owner was not present. The vapor barrier was installed lacking sealing along the wall edges, so it is not effective enough in controlling humidity. Owner did come to take a look and did fix some parts of the vapor barrier that were taped using low quality tape and had come apart. It was obvious that this work was not the primary expertise of this business that is focused on basement water penetration. Not happy for the money spent.

Without exaggeration if Steve and his crew could not fix my problem I was ready to sell the brand new house I had just bought. My house and property sit on a very high water table and besides having the foundation leak every time there was a heavy rain, the sump pump cycled every three or four minutes, was very loud and the backflow was loud enough to keep me from sleeping as the sump system is nearly directly under my bed. I emailed Real Dry Waterproofing using their web site's form. I described a desperate situation and Steve Wall called the next afternoon which was a Sunday. I once again described my situation and Steve said he would be here the next day. I must say I was a bit emotional when describing my situation to Steve. As a recent widow having purchased a brand new house and receiving very little cooperation from the builder, I felt angry and taken advantage of. My builder said all building codes had been met but that was little comfort when both my basement and property flooded during heavy rains and I couldn't sleep in my bedroom. Steve listened patiently and made suggestions. When I starting having these problems, I did a lot of online research and had talked to a local site developer and from what I had learned Steve's suggestions were thorough and the price he quoted was fair. The next day Steve, John and Brian arrived on time and Steve had giving my situation further thought and came up with an alternative that saved me $700.00. Steve and his crew did the work quickly with very little disruption and were super careful of my two cats. At the end of the day, the new floor drain was installed to prevent the water coming in the bulkhead stairs, the new perimeter drainage system installed to keep water from pooling against the foundation and the new sump setup was quiet. However I have very good hearing and to reduce the last little bit of noise I suggested that insulating between the joists and added ceiling board would reduce the noise to nothing. I asked if Steve knew of anyone who could do that kind of work immediately. He said that he, John and Brian could do it if I would understand that that is not their business. I didn't care what it looked like as long as the last of the noise was eliminated. The next day Steve and his crew showed up and began the insulating and installing the ceiling board. They needed a few more hours the next day to finish. Both the price he charged me and the work itself was wonderful. The ceiling looked fine and it was a blessing to be able to go to bed and sleep without tossing and turning because of the sump system noise. I am very impressed with Steve's knowledge, skill and compassion. He and his crew respected my house, my cats and me! I consider what he charged more than fair, in fact a bargain indeed. I would certainly use Steve's company again but I know that it will be many, many years before I need to. I will recommend Real Dry Waterproofing to any and all I come across who need these services.

Well! I will preface this review by admitting that I made a rookie homeowner mistake, and as Steve was pulling in my driveway (a 40 minute drive for him!), I realized that apparently a spigot had been left on, and when things thawed a bit, was clearly the source of the water coming in to our basement. I was ridiculously embarrassed, after having Steve come all the way to Conway from Holyoke! Nevertheless, he still checked out the basement and spent a bit of time giving me some really great tips on how to minimize the water exposure in our basement, which happens sometimes even when I don't leave the spigot on! I really appreciated Steve's professionalism and graciousness for giving me some guidance on how to make some needed improvements to my home. New home ownership is a tricky road to travel, and the path is much easier to navigate when professional service people like Steve recognize an honest mistake and still treat their customer with respect and kindness. I would absolutely recommend Steve and his company for any type of foundation or waterproofing service, and should we ever *actually* need their services at our home, I will happily call them back (after doing a thorough check to make sure it isn't anything I can address myself before calling a professional!). Steve was prompt, friendly, and professional. Really the gold standard of any service provider, and I have been in customer service my whole life. This company is top notch.

Steve Wall was very nice to deal with. Professional, on time and on budget. He explained my options including pros & cons. Once I decided which option was the best for me, he explained everything he'd do, how long it would take and the cost. On the day of the work, he arrived on time and did everything he said he'd do. He explained what he was doing at each step in the process. When the work was finished, Steve and his crew cleaned up the area and left it the way he found it. I definitely recommend Steve and his company.

My brief experience with this business was outstanding. The responsiveness of the owner was great, and I was extremely thankful for his honesty and professionalism. He passed up a chance to make an easy buck off of a worried homeowner and instead gave me sound, honest advice that I used to fix the issue myself. Although I did not end up needing to hire Real Dry Waterproofing for this particular project, you can bet they will be my first call should I ever need any of their services. I won't soon forget their courtesy, honesty, and professionalism! Thank you, Steve.
Description of Work: I called Real Dry this morning due to concern over a crack in my foundation. The receptionist who took my information was very nice and one of the owners returned my call within the hour. Steve could not have been nicer or more professional. He listened patiently as I described the problem and then asked a few relevant questions to help get a sense of how to best approach it. Rather than exploiting my concern to generate revenue for his business, Steve gave me a simple, efficient, and low cost method that I could use to remedy this minor problem myself. He was even kind enough to provide his personal number and offer to provide additional guidance if I ran into trouble during my project. I was extremely grateful for his honesty and professionalism.

Steve responded promptly to my call (water was leaking into my basement, despite having an established system in place - also had water getting into the garage) and was extremely thorough and professional in explaining what the problem was (including tactfully showing me where the other guys went wrong - I wish I'd called him first!) and what my options were to solve it; all my questions were answered, and we agreed on a solution that fit my budget (he even recommended against performing one part of the job that really wasn't necessary). Work was completed in one day; two jobs were done, one inside and one outside. Both work areas were left neat and clean, and it was apparent that care was taken to perform a professional job. Very pleased with the results - the proof will be when the next heavy rainstorm hits, but I'm confident both my basement and garage will stay dry. Great job all around!

Scott explained that he would be happy to come and look at my basement but with my situation, he probably wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem just by looking at it. Instead of trying to sell me on a service I don't need, Scott told me how to help myself. If I ultimately need basement waterproofing, I will definitely call Scott. He gave me his personal cell phone number and told me to call him on it even at night.

Stephen determined that our neighbor was indeed correct ? our drainage was flowing onto their property. He then knocked on the neighbor?s door and actually apologized for the water problem caused by the drainage repositioning. This helped us greatly, as this was a new neighbor ? we didn?t want to get off to a poor start with them. Stephen moved the drain pipe to correct the problem with our neighbor, and discussed with us other options at length. This Saturday visit and other work outlined above all occurred after the job was completed, and was provided gratis. This firm does not just doa job and then go onto the next one. When we had a problem, they came back immediately and went above and beyond in responding to the issues. Their customer service commitment could not be higher. We have now decided to work with this firm to bury the drainage pipe and connect it directly into the town?s storm water system.
Description of Work: As a follow-up to our 11/10/2014 project reviewed below, we found that the basement (storm water) discharge from the sump pump was at times freezing on our driveway and walkway, instead of running into the town’s storm water drain as planned. Ice melt products helped, but did not completely solve this problem. Curt and Stephen responded immediately to our call, sending their foreman to reposition the drainage pipe away from the front of our house. Unfortunately, this reposition caused the water to drain into our neighbor’s yard and ultimately their basement. Upon hearing this, Stephen came back to our house immediately (and on a Saturday no less) to investigate the reposition, our neighbor’s complaint, and possible alternative ways to solve the basement drainage issue. We have a 100 year old rock foundation on one side of our home and multiple leaks were causing real flooding issues. Steve came out with a crew and did excellent work to deal with the runoff. Within a few days of placing the call to the company, Steve came out to look at the problem. He explained the procedure thoroughly including showing photos of what would be done. The job involved digging, by hand, down along the foundation wall to apply a waterproofing membrane. Steve and his crew were prompt, professional, and efficient, completing the job in about 4 hours. The job was completed within 2 weeks of placing the original call. The repair has been successful, being tested by a major rainstorm which in the past would have left us with pools of water.

Steve was very prompt and professional. He was very honest about what work we did or didn't need to do in our basement. After considering our options we decided to start with a new sump pump and some gutter work to see what effect that has on the amount of water in our basement come springtime. Bring on the snow so we can test out the pump!
