Florence Paint recommended Al to paint my house, and it was a great recommendation. From the first call, Al was responsive, friendly, and thorough. His quote was the middle-priced of the three that I got, but his was the most detailed - and he asked me good questions about what I wanted. I felt most confident about his plans, so I hired him. He put me on his schedule, with about six weeks of lead time. He texted me updates on how the schedule was going, and despite it being a rainy summer, he was only four days late in starting, which was fine - and he kept me informed, which was all I could ask for. When the time came for the actual painting, he introduced the crew so we all knew what the plan. During the process, the crew was friendly, cleaned up neatly every day, and were predictable in their arrival and departure times. The painting itself looks great (it's a 175-year-old house, so it doesn't look perfect, but that's not the painters' fault!), which is the bottom line. And the job came in $700 under budget, despite some extra-complicated windows. Fundamentally, if you need a painter, A Brush Above and Al Tardy are an excellent choice.
Description of Work: Exterior painting of the whole two-story 1,600-sq-ft house for the first time in at least 20 years, including very old siding and trim, and urethaning the porch ceiling.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had, from customer service to quality. I hired Al to paint my kitchen cabinets, he came and gave me an estimate and when we decided to move the job forward, he contracted the work to one of his painters, Rich. Rich rushed the job and treated the work as a very low priority. He did not use the right primer/paint to cover the cabinets, he did not sand, he painted and dried the cabinets on a drop cloth, which caused dust and fuzz to stick to the edges. All around terrible work. Upon "completion" of the job, I called the painter back to reevaluate the work and request that he redo the job, he agreed. Upon setting a date, the painter became aggressive via text and I decided to not move the project forward. I no longer felt safe with him in my home. When I called Al to explain how unsatisfied I was with the work, he took no accountability and told me that there was nothing that could be done, offering NO solution, or refund.
Description of Work: Painting kitchen cabinets. This was an interior job.

This guy is good! His prices are less than the other bids, he has done at least three jobs for me, and all have turned out well. He comes on time, does good work, and he and his people are likable. I’d definitely recommend him! It’s a pleasure when you get someone who does everything right!

The quality of the work was superb. Al is very personable and his crew was very professional. The paint job withstood the terrible New England winter that we had this past winter so that really tells the tale. I am very satisfied with the work and I would definitely recommend his services to others.
