It was by far the worst part of building our new house. The landscaping (trees and shrubs, not the lawn), driveway, and patio were done satisfactorily. The rest is a complete mess: 1. Fencing and Gates: The fences and gates that were installed are extremely flimsy, and the latches on the gates consistently do not catch. In fact, our dog has run out of our yard on many occasions because the gates open by themselves. The wires that are used to pull the latches from the front side of the gates have burrs on them and I have cut my fingers on several occasions using them. Caps were not installed on top of the posts at first ? when I pointed this out they were added, but not attached, and easily come off. The fencing and gates need to be removed and different, more sturdy fences and gates need to be installed. 2. Irrigation system: One significant section of the irrigation line is exposed at the surface. The irrigation system was not installed properly, and the lines should have been placed in a trench below the frost line. When I pointed this out in an email to the deCastro Company, their ?remedy? was to throw dirt on top of it. I can only assume that all of the lines were not properly installed, so the irrigation system will need to be completely replaced. 3. Rear Lawn Area: The deCastro Company was hired to prep the back yard, add loam, and seed the back yard. The lawn in the backyard is not satisfactory for a number of reasons. The ground is quite bumpy and uneven, despite the fact that the deCastro Company came back several times to address this issue. In addition, the grass is extremely patchy/thin and at least half the yard is bare. The right third of the lawn is strewn with weeds. Furthermore, the drainage is terrible; after every significant rain we have multiple puddles which take at least a full day to drain. And finally, there are large rocks at the surface in several areas. It is easily the worst new lawn I have ever seen. The lawn needs to be completely redone.

Amazing! Don and his crew are great!
Description of Work: Complete landscaping from a rough grade lot on new construction. Don handled everything with complete professionalism and added creative design ideas. He also found attractive solutions to potential problems in the yard (a springing dry-well, unattractive propane tank access, etc).
