.I had a plumbing emergency on a Saturday. I called Nicholson Plumbing after calling others on A list. From the first phone interaction(with Wendy) I found the company professional, polite and efficient.Mike (owner) responded both by phone and in person in less time than I'd been told.He diagnosed problem and corrected it in timely fashion.The problem was tree roots blocking my drainage system. Mike was pleasant, positive and efficient. Within less than 2 hrs I had a system running better than it had in years.Thanks to Angie's list I found a terrific plumber.

We got four bids for this work. We eliminated one bid right away, as we didn't communicate well with the contractor. Of the remaining three bids, Nicholson's was the least expensive. More importantly, though, they listened to what we wanted. Three people worked on the job, including Mike, the owner, who is knowledgeable and professional. They did great work and completed the work on time. Mike also talked with us about options for future needs with our hot water heater and furnace. All communications with the company were terrific. They answered phone calls and email messages promptly and sent detailed bills by email. Alex (the office manager) is very professional.

Mr. Nicholson was pleasant, competent and his office staff was supportive. We will call him back next year.He was generous with his time and reasonable with his price.

Mostly, good, but it is a Whirlpool a/c, and they do not carry Whirlpool parts and leave it up to the owner to obtain parts if universal parts do not work.

Our 17 years old furnace was down last Christmas (Dec 2011). I had a contractor to check and he said it is better to replace it. We let him to replace the old furnace. But the nightmare starts - not only the job was not done correctly and the size of the furnace he put in was over-sized, but also he refused to have inspection done! After long battle we decided to move on. Thanks for Angies List we found 'Nicholson Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning'. Mike the owner did excellent job to give us best suggestions and we decided to remove the over-sized furnace the first contractor installed and started from the scratch. Mike installed better brand furnace unit with right size, fixed problems the old job created and also very patient explained all the details, and finally got the inspection done without any problem. Very nice job and great experience working with Nicholson company. In addition, the quote Mike gave me was very reasonable. It includes $800 rebate! Also I used $275 Angies List coupon. Very good deal.

In the midst of a brutal heat spell (temps reaching almost 90 in the house), our central air conditioning condenser died. We looked on Angie's List and decided to call Nicholson. Despite an extremely busy period and long working hours, Nicholson gave us a definite time slot and not only arrived promptly but even called to request coming a bit earlier than expected which was more than welcome! When Mike Nicholson arrived, we were extremely impressed with his expertise, demeanor, depth of knowledge, and professionalism. He quickly diagnosed the issue, which required replacement of a component which thankfully he had on hand in the truck. The cost of parts and labor, spelled out beforehand in detail, was extremely fair and reasonable, comparing quite favorably to that of other providers. In fact, Mike provided a couple of unexpected discounts from a standard cost for the given repair. Mike was extremely patient and helpful, taking time from his hectic schedule to explain everything to us in terms we could easily understand, and even provided helpful analysis and advisement regarding other areas of our HVAC and plumbing which we had a few questions or concerns about. Based on this service experience, we gladly give high marks to Nicholson Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, and would feel confident strongly recommending them to others needing similar service.

There was nothing that I disliked and I liked everything. They would get an A all the way. I would absolutely use them again.

From the beginning, the customer service was excellent. The person I spoke to on the phone (Alex) was very efficient and clear about what to expect. She explained that the technician would do a diagnostic check and she answered all my questions. She also managed to get me an appointment for the next day. The technician Mike arrived on time the next day and did his job quickly but thoroughly. He explained everything clearly and answered all my questions. He spent time with me to make sure that he had explained all my options and what each one would cost. All in all he was very professional and knowledgeable. By the end of the service call, the air conditoner was working, I understood what the problem was that caused the malfunctioning, and I had all my questions answered. Although having no a/c for a day wasn't pleasant, it was great to have it fixed so quickly and to have had a great customer service experience.

After getting 2 contractors in who told us to replace everything--hot water heater and boiler--Mike Nicholson showed up and got both of them running perfectly within half an hour. The boiler needed more servicing a month or so later, which he recommended at the time, to stay in full service. Others' cost: $10000+, their cost: $1000.

Their prices were fair and they were thorough.

They were available. They came in pretty on target to what they estimated. It was okay. They were pretty responsive. They requested for reasonable equipment and vendors, who made good recommendations for replacement equipment. They were confident to do all the work required. They seemed to have no issue with it. They knew what needed to be done and they got it done. They had one issue with a supplier shipping the wrong unit. They got it replaced at the same day. If they were issue they came back to address them. They were pretty careful with the way they were working.

3:30 on a Friday afternoon my wife had gone down to the basement by chance and saw there was water leaking out of our hot water heater and puddling rapidly. Frantically, I called another local lumber who wanted $265 just to come out and said they wouldn't arrive for 3-4 hours; then I called Nicholson. Mike was at our door within an hour with a replacement water heater ready to be installed. Mike was very courteous and professional and he had the new unit installed within 2 hours so we were back up and running with hot water by dinner time. This all on a Friday evening of a holiday weekend! Mike even cleaned up the mess the leaking unit had made. A+ for promptness and the new water heater works great too. I will definitely be calling Nicholson again for the next job.

The quote from my oil company was ridiculous and they didn't seem to really know what they were talking about. That's when I called Nicholson. To make a VERY long story short, they were prompt, professional, attentive, knowledgeable, and fair. They really went above and beyond for us and I would definitely use them again!

Overall, I was very happy with the work performed my Mike and his crew. They were very professional and timely. Mike took the time up-front and all along the way to explain my options and provide his recommendation. Given the facts and circumstances of my specific situation we has to deviate from the original plan a couple of times do to some existing electrical and duct work issues in our house. Mike to the time to weigh all the options and discuss them with me to make sure I was comfortable with everything. When there was a little more electrical work that needed to be done, Mike agreed to split the cost with me since it was not part of the original scope of work. The crew was very timely in showing up on time and worked straight through the day and well into the evening to keep the project on track. In terms of pricing, Mike was very competitive. I received several other estimates for the same equipment and installation. Originally, Mike was the lowest quote; however, there was a issue with the quote from Carrier on the metal ducts. After adjusting for this, Mike was in the same ball park as a majority of my other quotes. Mike was extremely apologetic about the mis-quote from Carrier, even though this was not his fault. Because of this, Mike ate some of the cost and extended his warranty on the labor an additional year. To me, this shows an extremely strong commitment to customer service and I was very appreciative of this. Mike also provided me with a personal reference prior to commencing work, which help seal my decision. I would highly recommend Mike to others for AC needs.

Mike responded quickly to our call for an estimate on a cracked main drain and was able to do the work the next day. While here, he offered advice on other aspects of the plumbing in our recently purchased house. Very professional, responsive and reasonably priced. Will definitely call Nicholson again in the future.

The Nicholson tech checked all aspects of the unit (refrigerant charge, operating pressures, coil physical installation, etc.) and found them all to be OK. He then phoned an outside expert to discuss his findings. They decided that a particular bypass valve, mounted on the outside plumbing of the evaporator unit, had been installed upside down. Their theory was that due to orientation the valve had become clogged, and was now no longer functioning correctly. The valve was inverted, tapped several times while unit operation was observed for about 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. The evaporator coil continued to freeze. A discussion was then entered into for a repair. This would involve the valve, the evaporator coil, and increases to some of the refrigerant tubing diameter sizes. The repair price was agreed upon and authorized. It was scheduled for about 1 week later, due to both material availability lead time, and existing workload. Payment was made for the time and effort expended. By the next day the unit was operating properly without freezing. By the second day the unit was still operating without freezing. Nicholson was then called on the third day and the repair order was cancelled. This change was accepted very graciously by Nicholson. The air conditoner ran properly all summer and there was no repeat of the evaporator coil freeze up condition.

Mike was prompt, responsive, courteous and showed genuine concern for our problem. I will always rely on him for his HVAC and plumbing services moving forward, he is trustworthy and does quality work.

We had a very positive experience with Nicholson Plumbing. Mike was prompt, professional, and very helpful. I called on a Friday afternoon and was able to get an early Monday appointment. He was able to diagnosis and fix the problem with the AC without any trouble. Because I had him do maintenance on the heating and cooling systems, he even offered to waive the typical $75 diagnostic fee for finding the problem with our AC. Afterwards, he gave me a sheet with all the HVAC model and serial numbers on it and went through the maintenance checklist with me, explaining how the different numbers he indicated the condition of the unit. Overall, I felt he was honest and very competent and I would use him again in a heartbeat.

Mike arrived and introduced himself. I explained the problem with the central air, and Mike took the time to listen and address each one of my concerns. He checked the a/c filter and showed me how dirty it was and explained how that impacts the unit. He then went outside to look at condenser. He explained what all of the numbers meant, what they should be and what that meant for the system. He then explained to me how everything was impacting the system, and what could happen (for example, there was condensation which could lead to the unit freezing.) He also showed me on the unit, exactly what he was talking about. He explained the pricing in detail and said he could take care of it right then. He explained that he might have to add refrigerant and explained how that pricing worked. When he left, he said that he wasn't going to add the refrigerant as that would overcharge the system, but if it needed to be added at a later time, he would honor the price he gave me today and not charge a diagnostic fee. He was very professional and down to earth throughout the whole time he was here, was really upfront and explained everything. He was really honest and clearly knowledgeable. One of the best experiences I have had with someone coming out here. I wish I knew of him when my hot water heater went! I will definitely call him in the future!

I called Mike at Nicholson Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning because my HVAC system wasn't working at all. I live in a condo and my heat and AC is generated by what is called a "Heat Pump," something I've never heard of before moving into my condo. The only people who can work on this type of heating/AC system is an "HVAC Specialist," of which there are very few. It's a specialized system and not just any heating company can fix them. I called other types of heating companies (who couldn't fix an HVAC system) and two of them gave me Mike's name as someone they would recommend, which I found impressive. I called Mike. He asked me some questions on the phone about what was happening. I was a bit panicked because I have an old system which is usually replaced after 20 years. Mine is now 29 years old and the cost to replace this system is around $8,000. Mike calmed me down and explained that the problem could be something simple and it didn't mean that I would have to replace the whole system. I scheduled an appointment for him to come out the next day. He called before arriving at my house. He ran a diagnostic, which every HVAC company I called said was the first thing that had to be done. However, all of the other companies wanted three times the amount of money than Mike did to run a diagnostic. Mike found the problem within 20 minutes and everything was fixed within about 40 minutes. He explained what the problem was and what was required to fix it and answered several questions I had about the system in general. Mike never made me feel rushed or that he didn't have time for my questions. He was very honest and he has extensive experience fixing and installing HVAC systems. He followed through on everything he promised and I felt that I could trust him. I would definitely call Mike again. My HVAC system works great now.

I called Nicholson after reading their reviews on google. Originally I was just going to get an estimate from a couple companies but i was really pleased with the guys professionalism how he explained everything in detail so I could understand. My husband and I wanted a tankless water heater installed. They were flexible with scheduling and got the new high efficiency tankless water heater installed in about 1/2 day. The following week he had the inspector come out, and it was all a piece of cake. We also got the $500 rebate within a few weeks. We I am very pleased with their quality of professionalism and they even cleaned up before they left. I am planning on updating my heating system in the next year or so and I will absolutely use Niholson.
