The office staff was very responsive and efficient in setting up our appointments. The plumber arrived on time and gave us a detailed estimate of the specific work to be done. He also answered many questions I had about various issues of concern throughout our vintage house. We are very satisfied with the work that was done and the level of professionalism. We will be using Nicholson again as we continue with the lengthy renovations planned for our home.

I hired Nicholson Plumbing based on the excellent reviews here, and I'm glad I did. This started as a job to inspect and clean my two furnaces, based on a deal from Angie's List. Mike (the owner) came to the house and was very professional and straightforward. Unfortunately, he found that one of my furnaces had a cracked heat exchanger (and showed me the crack so I could research it myself). He gave me a few options for furnaces at a range of prices, re-arranged his schedule so he could install the furnace two days later, and let me borrow several space heaters to keep the house warm. I did not opt to get estimates from other contractors due to the time crunch (hence the N/A rating), but I feel the pricing was fair. Don't get me wrong, the dollar amount was very high, but I opted for the top of the line Carrier Infinity 98 furnace, optional humidifier, and touch-screen thermostat. On top of that, Mike and his team were perfectionists when it came to the installation -- this was high quality equipment installed with care and enthusiasm. I would not hesitate to hire Nicholson Plumbing in the future, as everyone from Sharon in the main office to Mike and his team were so friendly and professional.

Contacted them, spoke with a very nice office person who scheduled our diagnostic meeting within a few days. Mike, the technician, showed up on time, inspected the ducts, and told us that the reason our daughter's room was so cold was that the ducts were too small. We used a coupon to reduce the price of the inspection. Very helpful. We scheduled the work a few weeks out (due to my schedule, not theirs). Mike again showed up on time, did the work and cleaned the two furnaces. We again used a coupon to reduce the price. Overall, a nice experience.

My toilet decided to overflow on Friday evening. I called a half-dozen plumbers, but only one called me back, and that technician was rude and did not want to help me. I then reached Nicholson Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning. I spoke to a human on the first call, and I was told a technician would be able to come to my house later in the evening. A short time later, I got a call giving me a time range when he would be there. Mike arrived only a few minutes late, for which he immediately apologized (I hadn't even noticed!). Mike talked me through what he was going to do, and explained how much each possible process might cost. Fortunately, I needed the leasst expensive service! Within a short time, I had a working toilet! He also changed my toilet seat to a new one, which I had at hand, and investigated a possible leak in my toilet.. The price for the work Mike changed was exactly what he had told me it would be up front. Mike is very personable. He answered all my questions, checked out another problem that I need to have fixed eventually, and described some services his company offer. The next time I need help with plumbing, heating or air conditioning, I will definitely call Nicholson Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning! My entire experience with Nicholson Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning was excellent, especially since I felt like I had been "rescued" on a Friday night!

Great. Mike was personable, professional, and explained the cause of the problem and solution.

We used them for an inspection back in November and we liked their professionalism, pricing and their straightforwardness. They are a good company. When they came, it was snowing and so they put their booties on. They were really very fast and quiet. They were clean.

I had an appointment for Monday morning, and they arrived punctually. The diagnosis of the problem with the heater system was fairly quick. I needed a new thermostat installed, and they suggested since there was another one of the same age and condition, that should be replaced as well. They offered a discount on the second part. While there, they offered to replace my water heater, which was leaking. I had put this off because I had been told I needed improved ventilation for the water heater to pass inspection. The did the additional ventilation and installed the water heater, all in the same visit, which was great. They also offered to call the town to arrange the inspection. Once they made the call, we found out that there had been a very recent change (that week) that required hard wired CO2 alarms as well. They made a second trip out at no cost to me to install the alarm, and the inspection then went well. I was very impressed with the way they handled this complication. Overall, very happy with the quality, speed and customer service. Work was not cheap, but certainly reasonable for the service provided.

They were expensive but did the job. There was a misunderstanding on what was included in the estimate but we did end up using Nicholson. They were willing to do the job as quickly as possible which was nice so we had heat back as quickly as possible.

The tenants of our Framingham rental noticed persistent water leakage in the basement next to the laundry sink. I checked it out and determined that the water was coming from the drain from our 2nd floor bathroom, so this issue turned from an annoyance into an emergency. I called around to several plumbers, but Mike was the only one to respond promptly. Based on my assessment, he gave me an upfront price range for the repair, starting with the diagnosis. Mike and his crew started the job in the morning and he kept me updated on their finding and progress throughout the day. The drainpipe from the 2nd floor bathroom had rusted through and needed to be replaced. They cut out the defective section and replaced it with a new cast iron section from the 2nd floor down to the basement. Mike noticed that there were pinholes developing in the remaining section, and recommended replacement of this part too, and quoted me a price. I gave them the go-ahead, and the following week they came back to finish the job. We were concerned they would have to open the wall and floor of our brand new bathroom, but they were able to get the job done without touching any of the pristine tile work. In addition to this, they installed a new kitchen faucet free of charge. Since then I've also had them replace the garbage disposal, and had them come out on a Sunday to unclog the sewer. I've been very satisfied with Mike's service. I found Mike and his crew to be very professional, courteous, prompt, and very reasonably priced. Although I hope I won't be needing a plumber soon, if I do, I will be calling Nickolson Plumbing.

Excellent service! Given the winter time and sudden request, I really couldn't have asked for more: Very neat from the moment he walked into our home. Quickly assessed the issue, hunted down and retrieved a replacement part (whole motor had to be replaced), communicated information and costs quickly, professionally, and with a smile. Cleaned up after himself even.

From the reviews on Angie's list, Nicholson looked like a good bet from the start. Happy to report a great experience. Mike was quite professional with estimates and execution of the work - actual install done by Joe and Willy + electrician. Front office help from Alexandra also appreciated. We ask a lot of questions from contractors before signing on, and Mike and company were good with the responses. Their estimate came in well ahead of two others. Installers arrived on time and immediately took steps to keep the area clean by laying down tarps. They were courteous and professional throughout the time they were here. Clean up was good, if not perfect. Missed a few spots in when vacuuming. Finished job ahead of schedule. My major suggestion for improvement is that the technician could have spent more time showing me how to use the unit. He had difficulty programming the remote clock, and ultimately left that for me to figure out with the manual. It wasn't difficult to learn. Just seemed like a shame to spend all that time making a great impression and then trailing off a bit at the end. On the other hand, Joe did take time to explain the features on the remote in some detail, so I consider this one lapse to be an anomaly When final payment was made at the end of the job, they were quick to get back to me with the paperwork necessary to file a rebate through the Energy Star program. I did not feel like I had everything to complete the rebate process (an invoice showing payment) but am working on that now.

I can't say enough good things about the professionalism of Nicholson Plumbing. Mike came to give me an estimate on a new heating system and was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the job. He provided an estimate that was more thorough and detailed than others I received, and brought up some points that the other estimators never mentioned. The price quoted was in line with other estimates I received. I have had to contact the company several times since, and they have bent over backwards getting me the information needed to obtain an home energy loan. Alexandra in the office has been especially pleasant and helpful. I soon look forward to having Nicholson install my new heating system.

I found them as an Angie's list recommended vendor. It could not have been easier to set up an appointment. They quoted me a flat rate and did the work for that fee. No surprises and no issues. The technician was very personable as well as professional. I would definitely use them again.

My wife and I realized the need to replace our furnace and A/C unit given the age and inefficiency of each. We heard you can get zero % financing through the Mass Save energy loan program, so we fielded bids from three different companies. We ultimately chose Mike and Nicholson Plumbing over the competing bids. Mike's estimate was the best of the three. He took the time to explain the mechanics of the system and told me exactly what I needed to know, although he used a lot of industry terms that went over my head. Of all three estimates, his price was in the middle, but I was impressed with his knowledge, personality and explanations (as well as the reviews here on Angie's List) that I thought he was most qualified to do the job. He had to come back a short time later to do a Manual-J chart, which is required for the loan process. He also gave me all the essential paperwork I needed in a timely manner so that I could deliver everything I needed to qualify for the loan. Once I received the check for the work, I delivered them to Mike. Within a day, they called me to scheduled installation, and fit me in the following week. I was really impressed with their responsiveness and quick scheduling. On the day of the installation, the workers were friendly, courteous, clean and diligent. I was very happy with the installation process. The only thing I could possibly complain about is that they needed an extra part to install a humidifier in the system and that they'd need to return at a later date. A week has passed since the installation and I haven't heard from them for a follow-up, although I'm willing to cut them some slack since last week was a holiday week. Overall, I am extremely happy with the service and the friendliness of Mike and his crew. I fully expect to use them for my HVAC servicing in the future, as well as plumbing needs.

This was a very pleasant experience overall. I am extremely pleased with my choice and would recommend using Nicholson Heating.

My shower valve would not shut off completely which caused constant dripping and it also sounded as if the water was constantly running (hissing sound). I contacted Nicholson to schedule an appointment. They showed up promptly at 7:30 AM and were able to diagnose and fix the problem within an hour. They were extremely professional and even cleaned the floor to my bathroom before he left.

I had the pleasure (and luck) of having the owner serve as my technician. Mike was punctual and professional. He was also quite knowledgeable. He took the time to explain each facet of the job. Being a single woman, dealing with house repairs, one can never be too careful with hiring an honest technician. I recommend Nichols to anyone looking for a job well done!

The service was great, the guys showed up on time and were very nice. They gave the price estimate up front, it was right in the top of the estimate range of other companies, even taking into account the $40 coupon from Angie's List. For example, Kerivan Lane quoted 1-2 hours of labor at $98 per hour and up to $100 in parts, so the range would be $150-$300 depending on the actual work done. Nicholson said they'd do the job for $320. They did a great job, fixed the leak, no mess in under an hour. So overall - good quality, good service, expensive.

Buyer's remorse: I picked this service provider based on Angie's List reviews. While they do a good job they are very expensive. My fault in that I didn't pay more attention to the pricing, but it is way out there, and I was traveling while the service was being performed. I needed annual maintenance on three A/C units. Apparently the maintenance charge is by the unit and not by the hour because the rate on the invoice was per unit, not by the hour. The bill for annual maintenance was $407, for a 90 minute job. No parts were needed. The technician found that two of the units were low on Freon (R22, which is being phased out due it to being a powerful greenhouse gas agent) and advised that we should buy new systems, quoted at $9,770 (option 1) or $12,700 (option 2). And that didn't include a quote for the third A/C system, also an R22 system. I prefer my systems to be at optimal performance so I asked that they come back and "top off" the system. They did let me know that the cost would be $635 (up to 3 lbs) because R22 is very expense. It was also quoted by the unit and not by the cost of supplies and labor. Ok, I guess, it is what it is, or so I thought. I did a little research and found out Freon (R22) currently costs (retail) about $400 for 30 lbs and the prices have been increasing significantly since the government has begun phasing out R22. The "toping off" technician's time for this second visit took about 45 minutes. So, upon review, assuming they paid current prices for the R22 and it take about 3 lbs (their quote) of R22 to recharge my systems that about works out to about $40 in R22 and $595 for the 45 minutes. Yikes!! The fault is mine as they fully disclosed the prices in advance and I was dumb enough to just go ahead. Live and learn....

An overall very positive experience from start to finish.Called in the problem on a Friday nite around 10.The woman taking the call was very courteous and helpful.The tech showed up as promised at 8:30 Sat morning and had theproblem diagnosed and fixed within a half an hour. He was veryprofessional, knowledgeable and competent ( he also owned the business,thanks Mike!). Master HVAC/ Plumbing/ Sheet metal and a personable young man.Highly recommend .
