I scheduled an estimate to have the electric stove and dryer converted to gas in my recently purchased home. I called about a month before to schedule this knowing my schedule was tightly wrapped around items for the purchase and things that needed to be done before moving in. They got the date wrong and I had to accommodate their mistake. I wasn't able to be there so my fiancé did the estimate with them and we were quoted quite a large number for that and to fix a few things, but since I am not a plumber, I figured that was the cost and said do it. We were forced to discuss via text message while I was at work as Steve said if he left we lost the $55 to give an estimate. You'd think they could give her time to discuss things with me as I was forced to accommodate them, and now she has to decide for us and not discuss with me in person. We gave them a deposit then two weeks went by never hearing from them. For people who were like "no you can't have 24 hours to discuss" you would expect a bit more responsiveness. I called and had to ask why no one has gotten back to me, and then finally got them in to do the work. I signed up for some service that was to give me a discount on this installation, but after a few times of mentioning it, I think it's just a ploy to get steady income from me. When the installation for everything came, Tyler came and he was awesome. The guys a real nice, laid back guy and I felt comfortable having him doing my work. I had some issues with Steve and his approach, so Tyler was a breath of fresh air and I thought I would be able to continue using this place. Gas install went in fairly smoothly and himTyler and his apprentice worked quickly, while also taking the time to answer any questions I may have had. In addition to the piping, Steve also quoted us on new toilets as the ones there were loosely attached, and when asked about just properly securing them he said that if the toilet flange was busted it costs about the same as getting a new flange as it would be to fix the flange. Which makes sense in terms of plumber hours, but then when the flanges have issues they want to charge me to fix the flange on top of the service I had already paid. I feel that I was mislead in that regards and am not very happy with how Steve does his interactions. Even though one of the flanges failed after install, I'm giving Tyler the benefit of doubt on not noticing the problem ahead of time, as it sounds like a pretty odd situation, but when you ask about certain things that have to be done they say "we have to come in and look at it first before we can quote" yet when the flange failed and I had to pay extra (even though they said it's one cost to get the work done regardless of how long it ends up taking) he just pulled out a book and quoted me a price. I thought the whole reason they came in the first place was to look at it. That ended up being an additional $700 on top of the $600 I paid for a new toilet. That's with the "discount" by the way. I had to make another appointment for the town inspector to come assess the gas piping. Again they booked the wrong date, and this time I didn't accommodate their mistake. When Steve (I don't know why Tyler didn't come back since he did the work) came in they didn't install a stopper valve for the new piping so all the old piping had to also be checked. I was told that this would only take 5-10 minutes to do. It took over four hours and most of my day. The inspector wasn't happy with some flex cable and Steve quoted me $350 to just swap out a pipe he had to already detach to even do the inspection. He was already here, he already had it detached, the proper thing would have been to charge for the part, or even comp me it. It would have been a nice way to build up some trust, and also say "sorry I wasted your day on something we said was 10 minutes long" as I was already at a point where I didn't trust the guy or the company, especially since I had just spent $1800 on gas piping and $1200 on toilets ($1900 if you count the new flange issue). I'm in for nearly $4000 and you can't spare the $10 pipe to make the inspector happy, all while making your customer want to continue business with you? In talks about trying to sell me this pipe, I had mentioned that I was thinking about getting a tankless system and he begin to try and force me into getting it installed. Steve is extremely pushy and I don't appreciate his salesmanship attitude. He gave me the quote and I said, does this include my program discount and he said "yes", then came back a few minutes later and said he didn't see that I was a member, but to trust him that was the member price. I think he just said yes to whatever I had said hoping I would just fork up whatever amount he asked for. That's when I said enough with these absurdly high prices, and poor customer service, and I'm going to take my business elsewhere. I got a call a few months later about my annual "tune up" that I get for being one of their members, but I strongly hesitate to actually have anyone come in, as I feel it's just an attempt to upsell more things. I wanted to like this place...

For years the hot water valve had dripped a bit when I turned it on to run the washer. When I recently replaced the hoses from the faucets to the machine, the drip became much worse, at which point I called a plumber. He explained that, in addition to a worn valve in the hot water faucet, the wrong kind of pipe from the hot water heater, as well as the cold water supply, had been installed in the first place. He replaced both valves with a safer kind. He also noticed rust on the gas connection to the hot water heater, which he said was a sign that the heater was degrading, and told me the number of years water heaters tend to last. While it was not in immediate danger of a serious problem, he recommended replacing in the foreseeable future. He recommended that I consider an on-demand heater and provided the math to demonstrate the comparative costs of an on-demand vs. a conventional heater (which would also require a chimney liner - something the chimney people had recommended). He said that at present, the government has a significant waiver for the on-demand heater. Installing one, with replacement of the inadequate pipes, would not require a chimney liner. With the waiver, the costs of the two options are approximately the same. He provided an estimate from his company that included all costs for the on-demand heater. He also found a small leak in the water supply pipe on the street side of the meter and said that fixing it would therefore be the responsibility of the town, although it might cost me something. I was more than grateful for his provision of all this information in addition to fixing one dripping faucet valve.

Brilliantly! The work done was great, and they were very gracious in answering all the questions from my inquisitive three-year-old, and they went above and beyond the call of duty. They showed up early, gave us an honest estimate (the initial estimate was higher, but after starting the work, the main plumber realized that he wasn't going to have to do as much as he'd anticipated, so he dropped the price by $50, compared to the initial estimate), and did an excellent job. I would definitely hire them again!

Garage ceiling had water stains from 2nd floor bathroom above, specifically the tub, so I thought it was a leaking pipe. Brandon broke into the ceiling, removed wet insulation but found no leaking pipes. He found the source of the leak to be poor seals between the shower tile wall and the tub. This allowed water to travel behind the tub and down onto the garage ceiling. Tub was re-caulked. I also had him fix a slow moving tub drain and bathroom sink.

Their initial response was fast. They tried to clean the drains. The technician snaked the kitchen sink, opened a hole in the garage ceiling, snaked the lower level, and didn’t find anything. They were there for about an hour and a half. They charged about $300 in additional costs which I had agreed to hoping that they could complete the repair. The technician was professional, but he did not perform the correct checks. I later learned that ice or snow was clogged in the roof vent and they did not check that. Later, the temperature warmed and the snow and ice melted. I heard the ice falling and right after that, the kitchen drain started working again on its own right after that.

In the beginning phases of a whole home remodel job. During the examination noticed that the main water shutoff valve to the house was rusted, along with the fact that the main bathroom toilet would more often than not fail to stop running. Had to schedule the plumber out about a month in advance due to how busy they are. Steve arrived shortly after 8am, along with the town water department to shut off the water from the street. I quickly began barraging Steve with questions about the plumbing side of my plans for the house. Steve was great as he answered each and every one of my questions thoroughly and patiently. Once we agreed on what work would be done that day, Steve prepared the price sheet and explained the different pricing options in detail. With the water shutoff at the street, Steve got down to work. He quickly replaced the main shutoff valve. When he examined the toilet (circa 1958, when the house was built), he realized he needed to get parts for it. Unfortunately, the supply place he went to gave him the wrong part and this was not realized until he got back to the house. I did not blame him for this, mainly because the price that was quoted was a flat rate - I wasn't paying by the hour. Out he went again and came back with the right part this time and quickly finished the job. He hung around long enough for the town to come back and turn the water back on so he could test everything. Very satisfied with the work that Steve performed, and Nicholson Plumbing in general. I've had two jobs through them now and each time they have been professional, efficient and accommodating.

As we made the appointment, I was given 2 hours of arrival window. I asked specifically to get a call 30mins before the plumber arrives. On the appointment date, I got another call, asking for the address and telling me the plumber was already in the area. I don't understand why they did not have my correct address, and why the 30 minute early call was lost in the translation. The plumber was professional and explained things well, but the quote he gave about the replacement of the water heater and installation is 3 times as the commercial ones. Again, I don't understand why and I did not use their service due to price reason.

They had a cancellation and called me to see if the appointment could be moved up. It could and I was very pleased with their responsiveness. The initial contact to today's appointment was very quick; 2 business days. Very pleased with that. Provided several options from "Band-Aid" to premium. The job done looked very good, professional, etc. But I get the feeling that the price was a bit high. I've not worked with a plumber in a while but a couple hours of labor, parts that couldn't be much more than $100 in total, and a 1 year "call 24/7 service" warranty seem high. Again, very happy with the job done and the very prompt, responsive and professional service. But cost seems high.

Professional and competent service. Identified an issue and completed the repair accordingly, so ended u being more expensive than anticipated. Couldn't use purchased coupon for diagnostic service since realized after the job was done that couldn't use it in conjunction with $25 discount for repair that was applied to the job.

Great - they were the most professional when I was gathering estimates and ended up having the best price. Mike, the owner, offered me several options and discussed the pro's and con's of each. When I E-mailed him with requests for clarification or further information, his responses were very fast, clear and professional. The two technicians who came to do the work were neat and clean, professional and pleasant. They wore immaculate uniforms and put down tarps to protect my carpets the instant they arrived. They worked quietly and efficiently, brought in a master electrician at just the right time to do the wiring, and did what looks to me like a very clean and professional installation. Afterwards, Ryan, the lead technician, showed me what they had done and pointed out the safety and operational features of the new unit. They cleaned up every scrap of mess and debris, and left the work area as clean, if not cleaner, than when they arrived. I am thoroughly satisfied with Nicholson in every respect, from the owner's interaction, the technicians, the job itself, and even the office personnel with whom I interacted. I will definitely use them again!

Went like clockwork, handled unplanned circumstances very well. Finished product is a work of art, like the engine room of the USS Enterprise (Star Trek)!

Ryan was on-time & professional. He diagnosed the problem quickly and was efficient in his repair. He easily sold me on the maintenance plan. Now I won't be in trouble with the humid 90 degree days coming up next week!

I called Nicholson twice for a quote. The first time, I was told that someone would contact me either later on Friday afternoon or Monday at the latest to set up an appointment. I called back on Tuesday, when I didn't hear back. The person on the phone told me that someone would contact me in the next half hour. I never recieved a phone call. I cannot comment on their plumbing abilities, so I can only say that I gave them 2 tries to call me back.

Working with the staff at Nicholson was easy and pleasant. Communication leading up to the service was very good. The leak was small so there was no real urgency on my part. Steve performed the work on the system. He was extremely knowledgable, fast end efficient.

I had Nicholson out to perform general inspection on our heating system. A few weeks later the pilot light went out our hot water heater and they were quick to come and take a look. We ended up needing to replace the heater and they were able to do it same day! The overall experience was painless and they were professional and courteous throughout.

The heat stopped working in February. They arrived quickly and discovered the same board that they had replaced several months before had failed again, which apparently is very unusual. They offered us space heaters to use until the heat was repaired. They got the new board overnighted and arrived very early the next morning to repair the heat. They did not charge us for the replacement board.

Last week the exterior AC unit had frozen up so we called our usual HVAC company to come do a service call. In the interim I changed out a dirty filter. Our usual HVAC company came and told us we needed to replace the entire system at a cost of $9,000. I wanted a second opinion so we scheduled an inspection from Nicholson. They were able to schedule it within a day. Nicholson's representative performed a complete system check and told us that the AC unit was working fine, that I probably fixed the problem by changing the filter. The $75.00 was well spent and saved me almost $9000. They were very thorough and professional - right down to putting on shoes covers each time they entered the house from the outside. Highly recommended.

Very knowledgable about our system

Tyler arrived a couple minutes late due to a known traffic issue, so I was not concerned. Once he was there, he was very helpful in explaining what his steps were going to be in determining where the leak started. He performed each step, answering all of my questions quickly and professionally. Within a very short time (less than 30 minutes), he determined that the source of the leak was an external water spiggot pipe that had been left on during the winter, then froze and cracked. Luckily I did not have a much larger problem to deal with. Given his efficiency, expertise and professionalism, I am strongly considering using Nicholson Plumbing and Heating for all of the upcoming plumbing work on the house remodel.

They're very good. They were professional and timely.

There was a lot of confusion about the deal that I purchased through Angie's List and the guy who came to the house wouldn't accept the coupon and it took a lot of phone calls back to the office to settle it. They changed the appointment a couple of times.

Called today, and they happened to have an immediate opening. Ask for their service representative Jonathan "Jonny" Aquilio - he was fantastic! He took the time to diagnose the problem, explain and show me what the problem was, evaluate options to fix or replace parts and what the costs would be for each option, and guided me through it all.

The service technician, Charlie, arrived right on time and proceeded perform the annual maintenance that we have through our service plan. He remembered the repairs that he had made almost a year ago and spent time informing me regarding the check up he would be doing and the small concern he had regarding the pressure level. He was completely professional and went the extra mile in his service. We are moving out of state or I would use them exclusively for all future service and repairs.

Both jobs were smooth, seamless and timely. He was neat and very knowledgeable. Tyler was very friendly and pleasant. I would definitely use them again and would ask for Tyler.
