+ -1 moreFarrell Pool service did exactly what they said they would. They installed new cement steps in our pool and installed a new liner. They showed up on the exact day they said they would, and finished right on time. They even came back to add a small addition we wanted an no extra cost. Their price was also extremely fair, coming in lower than most of the other quotes we got. They will now be our go to pool supply/service company

+ -1 moreTheir punctuality is not very good. They were supposed to be out every Wednesday, but they weren't showing up. For the most part, they do a good job when they do the cleanings. We had a leak and they were very nonresponsive as far as having someone come out to troubleshoot the leak.

+ -1 moreWe have been using Farrell Pool Service since we installed our inground pool 14 years ago. They are a full service company: opening and closing of pools; maintenance; service. Bill Farrell, the owner, is responsive, very reasonably priced and willing to impart knowledge to his customers about pools. Farrell Pool Service goes above and beyond - service calls would be made on weeknds, early summer evenings ..... they get the job done. I would highly recommend Farrell Pool Service to anyone with an inground pool. They do not service hot tubs.

+ -1 moreIt went very badly. They opened our pool early in the spring and came back a few days later for an initial cleaning. I came home that night to find that the pool pump had failed. They claimed that nothing had gone wrong during the cleaning and that it must have failed later in the day on its own. They said that the pool pump was the wrong size and had been improperly installed by whomever had put it in, but once I reminded them that they themselves had replaced it 3 years ago they went back on these statements. I then tried to schedule them to replace the pump since I was hosting a pool party in 2.5 weeks and they said that they could definitely get it in by this date. They then proceeded to keep missing the days they told me they would be over. I called them repeatedly to ask if I should consider cancelling my party but they said they would get the work done prior to the party. They then again missed scheduled dates a week before the party and the day before, causing me to cancel the event at the last moment. After I contacted the BBB they offered to refund me for the cost of the cleaning but have yet to do so. Update: The only way I was able to get a response from the company related to above was by filing a complaint with the BBB. Farrell Pools then proceeded to blatantly lie about every aspect of the complaint, some of which I was able to directly refute with my phone records. Have heard from others that this company is rude and deceitful - would never use them again.
Description of Work: Farrell Pools was supposed to open my pool for the season and replace the pool pump that failed that they had installed only 3 years ago.

+ -1 moreFrom start to finish - they delivered what they promised and promised what they delivered at a 1/4th less than the local guy. They repeatedly met their commitments - commitment to visit and take measurements, commitment for estimate, for ordering, for delivering, for installing. Masonry work in the back yard delayed the cover and winterizing process, yet they were flexible, and even showed up to install clean and professional on our first post-thanksgiving snow. Spectacular service all around, on time, on cost, on schedule, on point performance, and cheaper than the local guy. AND THEY SHOWED UP when they said they would, and they quoted when they said they would.
Description of Work: They measured the pool for a cover, but had to come back because we decided to do some masonry in the yard which changed the original measurements (for the best). Each time they were on time and the quote was great. Measured pool, ordered cover, winterized and installed cover... for much less and higher standards than our local guy.

+ -1 moreOverall, I was thoroughly pleased with the service I received from Bill. He was flexible with scheduling and arrived on time. Bill also stood in the pouring rain with me to inspect the pool and equipment. Bill gave estimates on where the equipment stood in its life-cycle but didn't push me to buy anything. Most importantly, Bill spent significant time with me explaining how things worked and how to care for pools. Although my head was spinning, I really appreciated his time and knowledge. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: I am in the process of purchasing a home with a pool and Bill Farrell, from Farrell Pools, met with me yesterday to inspect the pool and equipment. Bill also spent time we me educating me on the ins and outs of pool care.

Description of Work: I do not usually write negative reviews but felt compelled since the positive reviews on Angies list were the only reason for contacting Farrell Pool. I was searching for a new company to handle my pool. The very positive reviews here led me to contact Bill Farrell early this season. I was interested in the usual opening/closing services and was in need of a new heater. Bill came out to review the pool and equipment. He was a very nice, said he had plenty of room on the schedule and would be back to me quickly with various quotes. I never heard from him again. I hired someone else to open the pool but decided to wait on the heater. I would not normally call someone again after that experience but again the positive reviews led me to give Bill another shot. About a month after the first visit I called and asked Bill about my pool and the heater. He gave no excuse about dropping the ball but said that he would be in my neighborhood the very next day so would stop by and look again and call me. I said great - want to get this done. I never heard from him again.

Description of Work: I was very surprised to see how unprofessional some of his staff turn out to be. The biggest issue I have with Farrell is that they don't have one person that come to your home and simple complete the job you requested. For example if you ask for 5 items to be addressed the first guy comes and do a portion of the job, then after you do the walk around to make sure the job is complete, the tech will say, "well I don't do that particular job, you need to call Bill", and this goes on and on. Bill sound super nice but he so hard to get, in fact I don't want to call anymore since he just don't return calls. I had one guy come in and said to me "Don't believe what you see in the Internet, leave the system running all the time" then five minutes in the conversation he changed is mind and say " well make sure you run it from 8 to 6" then later on 8 to 8". In top of all of this they will come to your home and get frustrated and open their mouth talking dirty among them-self, very unprofessional. The same guy I asked him I forgot Bill brother name so the guy said Richard or Rich, so then like half hour after we were talking about pool misc. and forgot the guys name again, so I asking again and he scream back at me and said Dick, just call him DICK, but from his tone (I just didn't' appreciate it). I at that point I was was going to ask him to leave but didn't.Another example: a guy come in and say you system is working great then said "make sure you don't other come and tell you that is not working because I see this happening a lot", then someone else will come to do something else and will say "well I found you have a problem with this" and he will point to the exact same thing the other person just said it was working just fine. I see the review notes in Angies of other people are saying about what a great job his company does and I didn't see that at all. I guess I got the bad end of the business.On the same token, Bill brother I think his name is Richard was very pleasant and nice and he try and he did okay job. Another person I think his name was Shawn was very nice as well, in fact Shawn was outstanding.On opening time I asked for these: To do a partial opening To do a liner tuck in To give me an estimate and make sure the skimmer was the issue and detail on the job ahead etc. To vacuum the pool floor To get a 1st home pool owner class. Well all I got was the pool opening done. Four weeks have been and still waiting for a call back. It just bad service Bill, you could have done better. I am willing to give another chance if you want to make it right.

+ -1 moreSean came out the day of service and came to the door to introduce himself. He said that he was good to go but didn't want to surprise us if we suddenly saw a guy in the back yard. He offered to let me hover a bit since it was the first time the pool had been serviced and basically just took me through it step by step. During his time at the house he gave everything a once over, he installed some antifreeze type blocked in the filters, covered up the pump, and then put down the cover. He was fast and seemed very knowledgeable. Along the way he gave me some advice on replacing some older parts and about what it'd cost. He gave me some tips and tricks for maintaining the pool, and gave me a run down of some of the services offered by the company without being and quot;sales-eyand quot; at all. In fact, he never asked for a commitment on anything - it was always a and quot;by the way, we offer x-service for y-dollarsand quot;, or and quot;just so you know, we can do x for youand quot; and then just said to call the office if I was interested. I gave a and quot;Band quot; for responsiveness because I've called a number of times and I've yet to not have to leave a message and wait for a call back. It never been more than next day. This might be because I've only called off-season.

+ -1 moreExcellent experience from start to finish, Farrell Pool arrived as scheduled to measure, remove and install the liner. All workers were more than willing to answer all questions during the procedure including liner installation, startup of filter system and general maintenance. All work was completed on time and I am completely satisfied with quality of workmanship. I will most certainly use Farrell Pool for all my future pool related needs.
Description of Work: Removed and installed a new 20 X 40 vinyl pool liner with a 20/28 Durawall liner with foam padding, work included 3 steps and one underwater light also pressure test of pipes and repair of pump and start up.

They built our pool in 1995 and serviced and maintained it ever since. They are pool experts. Their service is superb. They respond day or night. Always fair and prompt. We moved from Holliston to Newton and I wish they would have come to take care of our new pool, but they said it was too far away for them to deliver great service.
