David J. Murphy & Sons was extremely professional in every way. Communication was quick and responsive. The designs were creative, functional and flexible. The workmanship was stellar. Installation was efficient and accommodating. They are experienced cabinet makers who obviously take pride in great customer service and quality work. I was particularly impressed by how they matched the look of our bedroom furniture. I wholeheartedly recommend them for any type of custom cabinetry. And they are a small family business!

An amazing experience. These guys are so creative, so into quality, and so customer oriented. They just won't quit until they KNOW that they have covered your every wish. If you thought that these kinds of companies are no longer possible to find, you are in for a very pleasant surprise. They had to coordinate a plumber to move heating and an electrician to do the elaborate wiring inside the unit for electrical outlets, lighting, telephone, cable TV, WiFi, etc.and they coordinated with our TV dealer to get a perfect fit and precise mounting for our new 65" Smart TV. These guys are amazing!! And the finish and fit? 100% perfect. I've already re-hired them to remodel a large kitchen for about $37,000.

Everything went great. Every step of the way. Dave did the bathrooms, and they came out beautifully. Jim did the kitchen and we couldn't be more happy with the result. Colleen in the office and Matt the cabinet builder were extremely helpful during the process. All work was done quickly and on time, and the contractors for plumbing, electrical, plaster, tile were also very professional and did great work. I would definitely use David J. Murphy & Sons again and recommend them highly!

David J Murphy & Sons (Jim, Colleen, David and Matt) did a great job from start to finish! Jim came to our house, heard our thoughts about the design we were interested in, gave suggestions, answered questions, and took quick measurements. Soon after, Colleen provided us with a detailed estimate. With other estimates to compare it to, and feedback from my brother (who has been remodeling kitchens for over 25 years) we went with David J Murphy & Sons, and no question it was the right call. They stuck to the estimate and timeline, were great at communication (quick email and text replies, gave reminders on what we needed to decide and by when, etc.). The cabinetry built by Matt is excellent. Beautiful ceramic floor and backsplash installed by David. Quick demolishing and quality construction by Jim, and it was only ca. 4 weeks from when kitchen was demolished to when it was complete. We?ve already recommended David J Murphy & Sons to family, friends, and neighbors and will continue to do so.

Outstanding detail and craftsmanship!! Jim went out of his way to make this perfect

I am very pleased with how everything turned out...the kitchen is beautiful. I would ABSOLUTELY hire Jim and team again. No question. Communication: While I wasn't home much of the time, I communicated with Jim as necessary via phone. My primary contact was Colleen at the office, who is super responsive to emails. Pricing/schedule: I had priced out several contractors and cabinet manufacturers and Jim's price was not the lowest, but not the highest. The project ended up pretty much right on budget, but slightly over on time (no big deal and was due in part to waiting on town inspectors). We anticipated 4 weeks and it finished between 5-6 weeks I think. Again, nothing that was worrisome. Professionalism: Everyone I encountered was great. I didn't deal with or see the subs much, but my house was kept tidy (as much as possible during a renovation). Also, I had a tough time with some decisions -- and even flip-flopped last minute on the type of wood I wanted for the cabinet construction -- and they were very accommodating. Quality: I love, love, love the cabinets that Jim and his associate, Matt, crafted. Overall: Absolutely no regrets in my choice of David J. Murphy to remodel my kitchen.<p> Thanks Jim, Colleen and Matt!

They came in, measured, discussed design needs and built the cabinets after ensuring that the wood was properly dried. As always, they were prompt, professional and courteous. The quality of the work including fit and finish was excellent. Cost was exactly as estimated.

The whole process went GREAT!. Having grown up surrounded with craftsmen in my family, it was a pleasure seeing someone like Jim transform our kitchen. His attention to detail, skill and ability to process our wants and needs was exceptional. From the very start, Jim had great ideas on layout and functionality. He then took the time to listen and process some very custom work we wanted done. This included a custom doorway, including a custom door, that we envisioned actually being a focal point of the kitchen. He delivered on that beyond our expectations. There was also some custom, and intricate work that we wanted around the ceiling and the soffits. Again, what Jim delivered was exceptional. I have a few custom projects outside the kitchen that we plan on having Jim help design and craft. Bottom line, he is a good listener and can execute flawlessly. We used Jim's subs for plumbing, tile and electrical. All of the subs were professional, friendly and took pride in their work. You could tell they liked working with Jim, and that they work together often. We bought our appliances thru a local dealer, Belcher's (not a box store) that Jim recommended. They were great, honest and helpful. Pricing was competitive - service was awesome. Given their relationship with Jim, he dealt with spec's and design directly with them once we picked out what we wanted. It was seamless for us after that. Jim and Colleen were also flexible on pricing. They put reasonable allowances in for tile, granite counter, plumbing and electrical. We bought stuff like the sink, faucet and garbage disposal directly thru Amazon that were a bit higher end then what was in the allowance. No pressure to buy that stuff thru Jim or his contractors which allowed us to trade up at a reasonable price. We had special lighting we wanted installed. We ordered it thru Amazon and Jim's electrical contractor installed it with no issue. All we had to do was provide the spec/materials and they would take it from there. Saved us a lot of money on good stuff. We can't say enough about the quality of the workmanship and the materials for our custom cabinets. Again, Jim is a true craftsman that takes pride in his work. The bulk of the cabinet construction was done in Jim's shop by Jim and his assistant, Matt.. As a result the form, fit and finish are exceptional. The delivery and installation was started and completed as promised over a 3 week period. Jim and Matt were always on time, polite, and very focused. Matt is learning from a master, and it shows in his work. The few punch list items that remained were handled quickly and efficiently as the materials came in, or if there were any issues that popped up after the job was completed. Small shop, so you may need to be patient as to a start date of your project, but using Jim and his crew is worth the wait. They deliver on all fronts.

The work went extremely well. This family business provides excellent customer service. We weren't sure exactly what we wanted, but Jim's sister Colleen, who works in the office helped us figure out all the many details. We had a design that we were interested in which presented some challenges but Jim continued to say whatever you want we will do. He spent many hours thinking it through built the design and it came out great!!! He came to the granite store with me and was a great support thinking through the details of the layout. He just knows his stuff and has excellent connections and collogues in the area who provide the same excellent quality service. He was able to coordinate the appliance delivery and work being done in our home while he or one of the subcontractors were present so we did not have to take significant time off of work. He even shoveled our driveway and sidewalk during one of the snow storms! He recommended a painter to us... and boy is he a quality painter. We would highly recommend Jim and his network of subcontractors for anyone who wants personalized quality work.

They were fabulous. To be honest, it far exceeded my expectations. The cabinetry is beyond what I expected. They were always on-time, professional and cleaned up every evening. They had good ideas because we gutted the whole kitchen. They were nice and funny, in a good way. Everyone who came in the house as a sub was very nice and engaging. It was a really good experience. They recommended different places for us to go for things like faucets and what not. We got their discounts. They really took care of the whole thing. This was painless. People told me that it was going to be horrendous and other than being out of a kitchen for a time it really wasn’t. We could see progress and they got pretty creative on a couple of things to fit into the space that I wanted. I am thrilled with them. I trusted them. They are local and their shop is not too far. It was probably one of the most pain free experiences. I had never heard of them before. I looked at a couple of other places. Their quality was unbelievable. I would without a question absolutely use them again if I had another project.

Personnel in office was polite and set up a Saturday appointment. Jim arrived as scheduled. Did the above repairs quickly and cleaned up the saw dust. The work and looking at the stairs took a little less than 1 hour.I was very pleased with how the work was done.

Start to finish it was spectacular. Professional in every way. They had to knock down a wall, built custom cabinetry which is absolutely top notch in every way, organized the plumber and electrician, secured all the permits, cleaned up every day and it took only 6 weeks start to finish to complete. My husband wanted a large bay window to be the focus with the countertop running right to it. The design has exceeded his expectations. Not only is the cabinetry perfect, the finishing and detail is just amazing. This new kitchen has changed our whole house and it's our favorite room in the house. We will be having them remodel the bathrooms in the next year. I cannot recommend David Murphy & Sons enough! Hire them, you'll be glad you did! We ALWAYS recommend David Murphy & Sons for any kitchen or bathroom remodeling. We're also thinking about hiring them to build a new entertainment center for the living room. They really have a way with wood!

The Murphy family are a class act! Jim's work is superb, and the office staff is great. Could not have asked for a better experience!

He was a little late in coming out. My husband was very impressed with the gentleman that came to our house. He was very thorough. He was out in the basement to check the flooring and so forth. He asked us about electricity too when none of the others had done that. His estimate was higher than some of the others we got, but we thought he would do a much better job as he was very thorough. We haven?t followed up with him yet, but will probably use him.

He might have been a little expensive, but he was worth it. He was just amazing and was a perfectionist in every step of the way. He cleaned up well each day when he finished.

Excellent. I walked into their building to get a quote for this job from another carpenter who had a shop in the same bldg. On the way out I walked into DJ Murphy's shop just to check it out. They had some pictures of jobs that they had done and one of them looked very similar to the job we wanted to do. I talked to Jim and showed him my sketches. They emailed me a quote the next day. It was the lowest quote I had gotten from all the carpenters I talked to. I had a lot of confidence in Jim after visiting his shop. We hired them for the job and did not regret it. Jim and Colleen were very good with communications. Jim did an excellent job for us. We are happy with the work. If there is one thing that we wish turned out better was the finish color. We asked Jim to match the finish to our kitchen cabinets and it came out a lot lighter than we wanted, but we accepted the job and it is beautiful. Jim made a couple of follow up visits to make some adjustments. A couple of months later, one of the sliding door hardware pieces fell apart. Jim was here the next day to repair it nicely. We highly recommend this company. Honest people and they deliver what they promise.

David came to our house to give a quote and spent alot of time working with us on what we wanted to accomplish while keeping within a reasonable budget and designing the room to fit with the characteristics of our home. After the work began we realized that the walls were horse hair plaster which required the complete gutting of the walls and celing which was not in the original plan. This resulted in 2 extra days of work not in the orginal quote but we were OK with this as the work needed to be done. The rest of the project seemed to go smoothly and with the new walls and tile our basement is now leak free! David was easy to work with and kept in contact with us via phone or notes at the house. We are vey happy with the results of this project.

I wouldn't hire anyone else to touch my bathroom or kitchen except Dave Murphy. They did a bathroom for us before in a different house and we were pleased with his work then and wanted to use his services again. He has reasonable pricing based on the quality of the job and cleans up everything.

Excellent quality and workmanship. Fabricated cabinets in his shop and installed and matched existing woodwork perfectly. Took about one month to get the job done. The installation took 2 days and he cleaned up at the end of each day. Very pleased.

his job took several months to complete but I don't have a problem with that. He built the cabinets himself and made sure to match them perfectly with what I already had in the kitchen. I have an older home and this isn't always an easy task to do. He is a perfectionist, which means that he might be a little late getting started on your job but that is because he is so conscientious about the work he is finishing up for someone else and he will be the same way with your job.
